Bought this for my small back deck in the Eastern Sierra. czcams.com/users/postUgkxoHYZbq5g9fkcAtinlTqstNlje-UQkCHN We get A LOT of HEAVY snow so I was a bit skeptical but it was worth it! After the first storm of the year this has exceeded expectations! It throws snow very well, even 10-12” + that said the more it piles up the harder it is to maneuver the machine. It is exceptionally light weight and overall exactly what I was looking for. If you have a large amount of snow and a lot of area to clear, you may consider something with a drive engine to help maneuverability, but for decks, second stories, roofs etc, you can’t beat the light weight to great snow throwing ratio. Side note, the chute rotator is a bit flimsy and it initially didn’t seem to work, after a few uses it seems to have loosened up.

Classic doesn't have auto-turn steering. The light or not doesn't really matter bc you can just strap a battery-operated light onto it. The Deluxe also has a bigger engine with 3 lb ft more torque. Classic has aluminum gear case, while Deluxe has cast-iron gear case. Deluxe impeller is 14" while classic is only 12, and 14" auger vs 11", respectively. Deluxe you can add hand warmers has one-hand interlock. Those are the key differences.

One of the best into videos how to use this specific snow blower! It is especially useful for somebody who never used one and now needs to familiarize with one (like me). Most other videos do not show the whole process to start it and how to actually drive it (even it is simple after using it). The Ariens manual which comes with this snow blower sucks big time when it comes to actually use it step-by-step.

Just ordered myself the Ariens Deluxe 24" Snow blower -- after borrowing my brother in laws Troy snow blower temporarily I knew I needed one for my home! We just had our first blizzard in New England and over 2.5 feet of snow at the end of my driveway. I can only park about 5 cars and I opted with a two stage instead of one. If I can do the job in half the time and get back inside the house that time is priceless with the family. Again thanks for the helpful introductory video.
@Garage Gear has a video that mentions turning the throttle down on the snow blower to let it cool off. He makes a good reference to Nascar about the cool down lap. This is my first snow blower as well, so I would like to learn as much to maintain longevity.

I had a Toro blower last year and the Engine blew on it, The Ariens blower runs on gas and is big enough to handle the sraper banks the City pushes in My driveway. @@jasonli7861 Hi Jason. (Your new Ariens is an excellent machine and should definitely NOT have this issue). If it is a STRONG gas smell (as you say), see if there is a little/some gas on the floor near/around the machine as source of the smell. (Don't get alarmed. This is easy to remedy, and for a new machine, the dealer should fix it for you [warranty]). I am assuming your snow-thrower has a gas (to carburetor) shut off valve. Try this: start your machine, then close off the gas flow via the inline gas shut off valve, letting the machine run until it stops (for lack of fuel reaching the carburetor). Then push/store the machine this way, overnight in the garage. Then on the next morning, check to see if the gas smell is better (assuming the gas shut off is working correctly, that is, keeping gas from reaching the carb). If the gas smell is lessened, perhaps there is a small gas leak from the carburetor. (Or some other nearby area). I had this exact problem, but on a different snow-thrower (Toro), and it's worth a try to see about locating the REASON for the strong gas smell. In my case, the needle valve SEAT (in the carb) was installed upside down, and the needle valve/seat combination would not seal completely (with the gas shut off left ON) by the action of the float in the carb (that exerts an upward force on the needle valve against the viton seat, and thus closing off the gas flow). Consequently, (over a few hours) I'd get pooling of gas in the carburetor, and eventually drip out a little onto the floor. Give this some thought/try. If it is a strong smell, you need to see if there is a very slight gas leak somewhere. The snow-thrower should not cause a strong gas smell. (Especially your new Ariens). God Bless you. tonyd\. (Sorry for the long note. Just hoping your new machine is working excellently and to your satisfaction). td\.

These people should not operate equipment like that. It's dangerous when you don't know what you're doing.
