- At the beginning of last winter I decided I would get myself a new snow blower. After looking at all the electric snow blower options I decided Ego would be the best option for me. After using this electric snow blower for 1 year was it worth it and would I get one again.

I got an electric snow blower three years ago. We’ve only seen one inch of slow since then… so it’s clearly doing its job
Sounds like me. I bought one the year after we had two 10" snowfalls in one month and past two years later I haven't even needed a shovel. Been sitting on my porch, not even started all this time.
@@pinkfreud62 well got the ego blower for 2 dollars and bought charger works... so im sticking with it. Getting the snowblower for 250 used. Amd I don't have alot of driveway.
haven't seen snow in a few years now. didn't stop me watching a snow blower review though. i use my time wisely.
The first bit of outdoor power equipment we purchased after getting our house (upstate/western NY) was also an Ego snowblower, although we got the larger two stage blower. We've added a lot more Ego stuff since then, including mower, leaf blower, weed whacker, chainsaw, power head with other stuff, etc.
One thing I found with the two stage blower at least is that you can pretty much leave it in eco mode and it has plenty of power to throw the snow as far as you need. The only times I would sometimes crank the power up a bit was the plowed in mess at the end of the driveway. Runtime in eco mode is pretty impressive, a lot of people make the mistake of running it on higher power at first and complain about runtime, but honestly you rarely need more power.
Recently saw Ego finally added a power snow shovel attachment for the power head, really want to get that before winter sets in here this year.
i went ryobi in australia as my first bit of outdoor stuff. i've gone 18v simply because all my other tools are 18v next on my list is the mower which is technically a 36v mower but uses dual 18v batteries hell i might even consider going 36v and making my own twin 18v adapter to use
I didn't realize that they'd released a power shovel for the power head! I'm so happy, I'm ordering one right now :D

I’ve Been using mine, also in Michigan, for four years now. It’s been awesome. Their mowers and trimmers are great too.
I’ve been using an EGO mower to mow Saint Augustine twice a week for 4 years now. The only maintenance I did is an annual blade change (takes 5 minutes and costs $12). It’s been great. Battery is still going strong.
You can grind the blades and keep your 12 dollars for beer. 👍

I have an average suburban yard and had to replace my lawn mower summer of 2023. I tired of oil changes, keeping the tuel fresh and other hassles and investigated going with a battery powered replacement. Bought an E Go 21" self propelled model with 56 volt battery. It is the best lawn mower I have ever owned (71 years old; 5th home; 4 or 5th gas lawn mower over 45 years). The torque on the motor is very strong so it rarely bogs in the tall stuff like my gas mowers. I can mow front, back and side yards on a single charge w/o engaging the self propelled feature (only a little slope in the back). I appreciate that it is so much quieter than my gas mowers and I'm happy not to put out so many emissions. I'm sold and will expand to the multi head system this summer.
I spend almost no time on those activities. I don't know why people are always complaining about changing oil once a season. Keeping gas fresh is almost never an issue. I got an electric mower just to try it (EGO) and returned it to Home Depot the next day. It was inferior in every way.

I went all in this summer on EGO. I have 4.7 acres with a 1 acre pond and picked up the EGO Z6 zero turn 52" and love it. I can't mow it all in one charge but my yard is hilly and that does burn more juice. Planning on getting the 2 stage snow blower this fall.
My dad has the EGO lawn mower and it's incredible, especially with the size of stuff we have to mow (probably about 2+ acres of brush)

My EGO single stage is going into its 6th winter season this year, still with the original 1st gen batteries. I've had to replace the plastic "scoop" bar a couple of times because the concrete chews it away over time, and that's the only maintenance that I've performed on it. It does great with light fluffy snow, but it does get bogged down with wet heavy spring/fall snows. I'm all in on the EGO lawn stuff as well. I love their battery tech, except the cost of replacing them! Pro tip: don't put the batteries on the bumper of your truck then forget about them and drive away. Ask me how I know that 😂

Unfortunately, the wet heavy snow is when you need it most. You can use a leaf blower for the light fluffy stuff if you keep up with it. If you let it accumulate, it's super easy to just shovel.
I picked up a bunch of Ryobi's "40v HP Brushless Whisper" lawn tools, and love them- got their weedeater, self-propelled dual blade push mower, and leaf blower... I love them ALL. I still have my Toro zero-turn for the bulk-cutting of the rest of the property, but the front yard, ditch, and finish work is CAKE... The dual-blade push mower with mulching plug in? That thing is REALLY impressive! First cut of the year, I did side-discharge, the next week I put on the bagger, and then for the rest of the season I just put in the mulch plug, and it cut everything so small that the grass clippings filtered down to ground level.
I also got this snowblower last year. It performed admirably, only faltering when clearing waterlogged snow that was mostly water that weighed 30 pounds a shovel. I found that on max speed, the snowblower could blow snow above my neighbor’s garage. This snowblower chews through the light and fluffy snow like butter, especially when you get 4-8 inches. In my opinion, the 5 amp hour batteries are a waste of money. When it gets really cold, like when it goes signal digits or sub zero, the battery run time drops.
I believe the reason it has issues with melting snow is the auger having to small of a diameter.
One of the reasons I have not gotten a EGO snow blower is the auger. If it would have larger diameter or be settled down a few cm to be closer to the ground, I would be more likely to buy one.
I live in MN (we're practically neighbors!) and compared that EGO unit to the Toro offering last year. I ultimately went with the Toro (39901, if you're wondering) because I trust the build quality of Toro - they've been building mowers since (checks notes...) 1915?! I knew it was a long time but WOW! And snowblowers since 1951. I've had a bunch of Toro gear over the years and they just continue to run with minimal maintenance and basic care. Heck - I still have the gas-powered 2-stage unit my dad bought for the new house back in '96. Just needs an oil change every year, a spark plug every 2-3 years, and a scraper blade and skid feet when needed (so far, twice in its entire life). It's now my "heavy duty" backup for when we get those heavy snows late in the season.
I bought the 2 stage this year. I'm pretty excited to use it this winter.
I live in Kansas which isn't crazy with the snow, but the snow drifts in my area have gotten some spots next to my driveway around 4ft high. It isn't fun to shovel and I hope this makes things easier.
I will say I have had EGO products for a few years and the batteries didn't seem to like the negative degree weather. I plan to store the batteries from my garage to inside the house. After last winter my older batteries don't seem to last as long.
I’ve had the original snow blower since 2018 I think, and ego mower since 2016. Just starting to notice my 5.0ah batteries are getting weaker. Still do the job though, I can’t complain. I bought the two stage last year so I’ve got fresh batteries to rotate in. These tools are beasts!
Snagged an E-GO SelectCut mower last year for about half off (it was a store return) and before that got the 16" chainsaw. Still haven't bought into a weed eater yet but with these Vermont winters right around the corner I'll be picking up a nice 2-stage blower this year to replace my Craftsman unit. The only thing I don't like about these so far is the cost of the batteries, but then again, they've been holding up great through off-season storage. Nice review thankyou. I took a chance and purchased the rubber auger/ 5 Ah snow blower in 2016 when first released. Just rolled it out again last week with no issues. Although not inexpensive, I'd recommend Ego products to anyone ready to move away from gas.
I bought an Ego lawn mower. I really like it. I decided to get an Ego snow blower. I bought a single stage Ego blower. It works OK with cold dryer snow, but it doesn't work well with the wetter, heaver snow.
This is why I will never buy electric. I need it to work all the time. I don't see electrics getting better any time soon, so gas it is for the foreseeable future.
@@Wordsalad69420 I bought the Ego blower 2 years ago. I replaced it this past fall with a good old 2 stage, 4 cycle internal combustion blower. It works great.
@@Wordsalad69420Agreed....!!! And another thing that wasn't addressed is you MUST bring the charging unit and batteries indoors to charge during the winter months. Because if left out in a cold garage sure they'll charge but you'll use them up 2x as fast. I was looking at this very snow blower and almost had my finger on the trigger. Until i read about the battery charging issues. So instead i bought a Toro Power Clear 821 QZE and LOVE IT...!!! You just can't beat gas power. I know electric is becoming the thing of the future but we are CLEARLY not there yet when it comes to sustainable power for long periods and overall reliability.

I've had the two stage EGO snow blower for a year in northern Wisconsin. It handled everything mother nature threw at it with ease.

I've used our Greenworks 60 amp battery snowblower for the past 4 years to clear our drive and sidewalk plus my 90-year-old neighbor's walk. (I'm 70 and a woman, lol.) We bought a Cub Cadet plug in electric riding mower and love it too.
We get snow worth worrying about here about once every four years and last about 2 to 3 days or at most a week. Not Florida but the Sunshine coast in darkest Essex in the UK, (also classified as semi arid for rain fall). This is still a useful insight on what to consider for battery power tools.
I have several EGO products, including the single stage snow blower, lawn more and more. I'm also in Michigan and sometimes it seems we get a couple inches of light fluffy lake effect snow. If you don't wait for it to melt, the EGO leaf blow quickly and easily blows it off my sidewalk and driveway.
I'm in Perth, Western Australia. Snow blowing fascinates me even though I have never seen snow in person in my life.
I bought into the ego line when I bought my house almost two years ago. I have the mower, the power load weed whacker, leaf blower, hedge clipper and love them all. I just bought the new single stage auger propelled snow blower and just waiting for snow to test it. I would love to get the zero turn but my pockets aren’t quite deep enough for that yet.
Electric lawnmowers are awesome. Quiet, light, powerful, no maintenance. Def get one! I have an electric snow blower I got free, but haven't had a chance to try it out yet.
everything needs some kind of maintenance, you just don't have to deal with oil changes and stabilizing the fuel when storing it over winter, basic stuff needed for a gas powered mower. you still need to clean it and maintain the blade.

I was in love with mine when i 1st got it, after this recent series of ice storms, and needing to charge mutiple times, and needing to ram it into hard packed snow plow mountain I got buyers remorse and really regret buying battery so I ordered a honda, I'll keep it for light duty but using gas was way faster and I missed the self propelled
Love my 2021 snowblower! Came with 2 - 7.5 A batteries. I then (2022) bought a mower, chainsaw, and blower online, less batteries as I already had 2. So happy with all the stuff. Quiet, powerful and they start all the time.
So the mower and the blower use the same batteries?
I have an E-Go mower and trimmer. They both use the same 5Ah 56V battery. 1 battery is enough to mow my front lawn and a good chunk of the back, and the second battery is enough to finish the back while the first charges. By the time I'm ready to trim, the first battery has more than enough charge to handle everything.
I didn't realize they have snowblowers, too. I could definitely see one of these replacing my gas snowblower once it dies.
I have quite a bit of EGO tools. Only had trouble with one weedeater and my mower had a cut wire because of placement near the handle hinge. The weedeater is now spare parts, and the mower I fixed by just splicing the wire. The snowblower was a godsend after my first year in a new house doing everything by hand.
Worst case scenario I bring the batteries in to charge and rest them by the door in the winter.
I bought the EGO Z6 riding mower earlier this year - I am very satisfied with it.
I have a SnowJoe 'sweeper' it shoots in one direction only (straight ahead). Like you I had my doubts and felt the cheapie plastic product would break soon and that the battery wouldn't have enough power. I was pleasantly surprised, had a great experience on my first try (cleared over a foot of snow). It's a real back saver and much stronger than I expected. I cleaned my driveway on one charge and it can handle hard pack snow.
There is a bit of technique one has to learn to use it, but once you understand the machine, it does a great job...so ya I've gained confidence in these electric snow blower machines and would definitely recommend them. My driveway area is small, but once I get a larger place, then I'll definitely move up to a 2 stage unit.
I happened to order the 2 stage model since living in Massachusetts you definitely aren’t a stranger to snowfall lol… 12” to 16” isn’t shocking especially in January so I figured I’d get the 2-stage to replace my old craftsman with a husqvarna engine. It’s got a long back order time so mine should be here in November and I’m even more hopeful it’ll do well based on your single stage! So thanks for sharing this in this video 👍
I got the rubber paddle version, and I am very happy with it. I have used it up here in Canada with some heavy wet snow and it chews through it very well.
I agree, I had a situation this year (2022) being north of 70 years old and not knowing much about small gas engine fixing besides the very basics of plugs, gas, oil, and the dreaded no man's land for me, carburetors, no matter how many CZcams videos exist for my ICE snowblower, my fingers and patience just don't work very well even out in a garage out of the wind but down in the teens for temps. Plus a service call on a suspected carburetor, even on a newer ICE model can easily get one a service bill close to 1/2 the price of a replacement model. I have experience with the EGO 7.5 amp hr. mowing system and got that years ago and it still works fine, pleased with that unit.
So, frustrated and knowing that this latest super fubar snow event was coming as of last weekend I went out and got the 2-stage 5.0 amp hour dual battery and charger unit for almost double the single stage unit in your video review, even though from what I see we have a very similar footprint of pavements to clear in a real storm. Also before the current ICE snowblower, I have that was received as a gift for father's day about 2 years ago, I owned an Ariens 24-inch ICE snowblower for at least a decade and that worked as a great snowblower for sure. But with a few complications of an ICE unit. I know, 6 to 1 and 1/2 dozen the other comparing all these various snowblowers and their unit characteristics.
I got the 2-stage as I do some extra blowing around the yard and also during a bad snow event helping the neighbors when practical as they have also helped me in the past when I had issues due to maintenance, old age, medical recoveries, etc. Yeah, I'm a little bit of an EGO fanboy, admittingly, however, I don't think the average suburbanite calculates the other costs associated with ICE vs. EV power units, if folks would stop and think of the costs in time and maintenance of ICE units, then the $1,500 and some taxes change might bring the EV unit value into sharper focus.
Do I need to mention climate change? No, I won't (🙂) that would just bait an online argument flame war. :-)
We don't get that much snow, but the driveway is kinda long, about 120', so I went with a Snow Joe 18 inch 13 amp corded. Between the outlets in the garage and the light post at the end of the driveway, a 100' cord gives plenty overlap. It was my first experience with a snow blower, and I had to unlearn the lawn mowing rule of going slower in taller grass. In heavier wet snow the thing to do is push through faster so there's more mass knocking loose anything sticking inside the tube. Much faster and less sweaty & exhausting than hand-shoveling the whole thing, though I still do to clean up and get the edges. I like a good clean clearing, since we often get a melt soon after a snowfall, and most of the driveway slopes toward the garage into a shady area in front of it and can make ice patches.
I got the rubber paddle version of this blower and have used it for one season. Battery life is great and I haven't had any issues with it lacking power to chew through snow. However, even though the rubber paddles do a great job of getting down to clean pavement, the blower shoots 10% of the snow back out of the front opening, covering the clean path you just made with some snow. This would be fine if I lived somewhere where the thin layer of snow left behind would melt away in a day or so, but in northern Canada that thin layer of snow becomes a sheet of ice in no time. Also the fact that this blower weighs just about nothing compared to a gas one is nice, but it can make it more difficult to deal with packed down snow.
I skipped the rubber blade attachment here in Michigan. The lower cost model has the steel auger, and that is what I need. Plus no maintenance with the steel.
@@JFlynn-ef7hg The snowblower will shoot snow out the front if snow or a pine cone or something is stuck in the crack where the scraper bar meets the side housing on either side. Clean those corners out periodically and that should solve the problem.

I've been using the EGO lawnmower since 2017 and it's served me well, both with my small yard and with it's ability to fold up for when i was doing my folks yard after my dad hurt his leg.
Got their leaf blower, only reason i don't have their edger and weed wacker is i have a pair of wired black and deckers that just won't quit and my small lot doesn't benefit from no cord as much.
My old craftsman snowblower has problems but right now it's just trying to figure out if it's better to fix the old thing up or take the leap, noting this snow year in Detroit has me thinking i'll have to get it checked out just due to lack of use. But it's nice to see the EGO in use in a climate i know to help me when i DO have to make a call.
My craftsman snowblower gave up mid snow cleanup last winter . I picked up the dual stage ego snow blower to replace it as I have their lawnmower already. I have a corner lot so I have double side walks and a double wide drive way. In addition to that I usually clear my neighbors drive way and sidewalk as it's something I can do to help out. That means I clear four houses worth of side walks (the neighbor is the other corner lot) and two driveways that are double car widths. All that is on two 7.5 amp hour batteries and I usually have about 25% charge left.
This one is so much lighter and quieter than my old snowblower. Makes life a LOT easier.
That one light will get you farther than you think. I have the weed eater edger combo kit with the 5 amp hr battery, the 21" mower with the 10 amp hr battery, the leaf blower and portable outdoor fan. They've been great after 2 years of abuse. Also bought a brush attachment for the weed eater.
What a timely video. I'm considering an EGO snow blower. I've bought a few EGO products this summer and am really pleased with them so far.
Our snow is usually on the lighter side 1-4" though we occasionally get 6"+. I've already got a lightweight plug in blower for the dusting-2" snows and then a monster blower for 4"+ snows.
The plug in blower sucks because of the cord and the monster blower is powerful but quite unwieldy. Also, I'm looking to keep my batteries operating outside the spring-fall seasons.
This where a possible battery-powered blower comes in and this video provided all the info I needed.

If you noticed on the EGO webpage he showed, they released a new model with heated hand grips and auger assisted drive. Something to think about. You might be able to snap up the previous models even cheaper now. Also I'm probably getting similar amount of snow fall as you, maybe a tad more.I have the original single stage and it works perfectly.

I've been watching prices but haven't seen any sales. I suspect those will only come at the end of the season based on past experience.
I ended up splurging for an ATV with a plow, I have about 4000sq ft to do. Don't think an electric blower would be anywhere close to sufficient for us, but glad it works for your needs.
_Project Farm_ did leaf blowers recently and EGO was one of the ones he tested. The one he tested seemed to do well, from memory.

I bought the lawn mower ,tiller ,weedwhacker and chainsaw and never regretted it they all work great just wasn't sure about the snowblower. I would need the two stage here where I am though
My wife got me one of those Ryobi electric snowblowers, and it was surprisingly good at its job and if I wasn’t a Michigander with so much driveway and sidewalk to clear it would’ve been nice. The damn thing broke within one or two uses, and I exchanged it, and put the proceeds of that towards a self-propelled Stage 2.
Technically it still worked, but the part that turned the chute left or right was made out of cheap plastic and the snow volume clogged it up, and it froze solid-so that poor little thing cracked right off and it was done.
I did have to swap back and forth between batteries multiple times because I had a large area to cover and I could do it if I had to, but my stage 2 Toro is amazing.
I got the single stage last year with 2x 5 amp hr batteries. it worked great in eastern idaho
I also have an Ego snow blower for my property in Vermont. Major difference: 500 ft. of gravel road and driveway instead of smooth paved cement. On a charge I can get 1/2 of the work done given light fluffy snow conditions. Add in heavy wet snow, it takes longer. Add rocks and debris at the end of the drive toward the main road where the town snow plows operate, it’s better to do that with a hand shovel. I’ve gone through several auger pins in that stuff. Overall, I would also recommend it as a solid piece of snow equipment.
I've got the OG ego snow blower without the metal auger. I do all of my neighbors driveways and walks before they even wake up. It's super fast and I'm the only one who can keep going in blizzards. Everyone's 2 stage runs out of gas and I just rotate batteries and get all my neighbors to the path I made to the main road.
I did add the 2 stage ego skids and mod the side skids to fit the single stage to minimize that blade getting worn down and eating the housing.
I have the same blower but with the rubber auger, works great on my walkways and decks. I also have the ego 2 stage blower and it is also a great buy. I use it to clear around my front Gate where the plow can't get into on a gravel driveway and have had no issues over 2 seasons now.

those single stages are just like the plug in electrics.
now i got a greenworks 80v mower, trimmer, and now leaf blower too, i might invest in a blower at sometime too.
i just bought a new belt for the plug in last year after 26 years.
still better than a shovel when needed.
I'm married to DeWalt, and I bought into their 60V line this year for my outdoor power equipment. I have been very happy with my battery stuff so far. Seems like Li-ion outdoor power equipment is ready for prime time.
Had the rubber auger version for 7 years. Housing cracked last year. Plastic body just fatigued over the years. Replaced it this year with the 24” self propelled. Just waiting for the inevitable Canadian snowfall now.
Tec tip for gas powered lawn equipment, run 100 to 1 2 stroke oil mix is 4 strokes. Use marine tcw3 oil. The oil protects the carbs and rubber seals from ethanol. Been doing this for many year no issue. Actually keeps the combustion chamber cleaner

I have the EGO push mower, leaf blower, and weed eater. All of them work great for me. You will be limited by the batteries, so keep that in mind if you have a big yard to deal with (I only use the mower on a small patch of nice lawn; the rest gets covered by a tractor; and I almost always use more than one big battery when weed eating). The mower is pretty quiet, so I would recommend it if it will cover your needs (I've never used the zero-turn one that takes 8 batteries).
Compared to their two-stroke alternatives, the tool I found to be the best was the leaf blower. Great cfm, easily adjustable, light, and you can turn it off and on with ease; only thing that would make it better is if they made it a backpack design instead of a handheld.
the blower was basically an almost free add in for me as I wanted the weed eater but I ended up using the blower all the time. It is great for dusting my shop if I turn it all the way down and it makes quick work of everything if I turn it up
I was quite pleased with the trimmer. It took half a sheet of gypsum falling from the ceiling crushing its motor bearing to stop it from working. Isn't anywhere near as powerful as my AC Stihl trimmer with its shield off... that thing can pressure-wash concrete. But quite pleased.
AvE bought a blower, fucked up the battery pack and wired it to be always full extra button power and it survived a year out of spite.

I can vouch for the 24" two stage. I live in the Sierra Nevada and we had record snow last year, as in serious Team NFA Snow. I use the 24 for the back of the house and it is a monster. I liked it so much that I bought 28" as a backup for my Ariens Mammoth in the front of the house. I also have the one featured in this video for the second level patio - it's wonderful. EGO is indeed pricier but I have to say you get what you pay for - handling, no maintenance, no gas, no smell, less sound, lighter equipment. It's a good system.

@@ME-ys6vl yea it’s a big place and we live on a hill so it’s hard to get one from the front to the back. The second level patio is 1000 sqft.
I'm in Australia, we don't really have EGO, but I bought Husqvarna who have a pretty much identical system and is readily available here. It's good, battery yard tools are the way to go. I have the line trimmer and blower, but just ordered the push mower (self-propelled). My stander is still petrol (gas) powered, I think EGO is the only one with an electric zero turn.
I had a Husqvarna brushcutter, leaf blower and hedgecutter. Both brushcutter and leaf blower gave me the same throttle issues. I won't buy Husqvarna battery equipment again. The hedgecutter worked very well though.
I can second that review. My first foray was the EGO Zero Turn. It is awesome! Because I have areas too small and/or tight for a zero turn I purchased thyself driving 21" mower. I was so happy with those I purchase the big brother self propelled snowblower. It takes 2 batteries. I have 2 7.5a, and 2 12a.The Zero turn came with 4 10a. The nice thing about the ZT is it comes with its own charger so I can charge up to 6 batteries at the same time. I also have the dual battery charger. I am, as you might have figured out, all in on the EGO line, which is good as you want to,ideally, standardize on a single battery system.
My mom bought an electric snow blower last year. Absolute beast
I brought into Ego in the summer of 2020 and my wife has been very happy with it. Do to a back injury I'm waiting to heal so I can use them if she will let me.

I have an eGo push mower and the multihead weed eater/edger , I like both a lot. I can get my small yard twice over on a single charge, it's much quieter then gas and I don't have to mix 2 Stroke gas .

I bought the EGO SNOW BLOWER WITH METAL BLADES LAST YEAR.! When it snow only a few inches I took the snow blower out I was shocked when it was impossible to move. I struggled for about an hour without any progress with the light snow. My son packed it up and we brought it back to Lowes in Flemington, N.J. I was told they could not take it back because my sales slip said the16th and they said Their sales slip said the 15th. I went home with the snow blower and watched your advertisement again the man in demonstration made it look so easy. Was I a victim of false advertisement? I already have several Items from EGO, the lawn mower, weed wacker that work well. I can't believe EGO will not stand behind your product that right now collecting dust in my garage.
ITs still under warranty I'm sure. I would register it on Ego's website. You will need the serial numbers for the machine, battery and charger, and the reciept. ONce you get it registered, then call Ego. I think all their stuff comes with a 5yr warranty and clearly something is wrong with your machine.
I like the thought of the convenience of an electric mower and just being able to pop the battery on and mow your grass. I just wish they weren't so expensive still. I can get a gas powered lawn mower for a couple hundred bucks but an electric one starts at 5 to 600. Until they get comparably priced to a gas lawn mower, I will suffer with dumping gas in a tank before I mow versus pulling a battery off a charger.
I live in Washington state and when we get snow around here in Southwest Washington you had better go play in it and build a snowman quick because the chances of it starting to rain by noon that same day are usually pretty good. Not very often do we actually get enough snow, that lasts long enough, to Warrant having a snowblower. I kind of wish we did though because I really love the snow.
We're very happy with our Ego lawn mower, but here in Upstate NY where we used to get 125 inches of snow a year, it's barely snowed at all in the past two years, so a shovel is all we need. Our neighbor has a corded electric snowblower, and I wonder why more people don't use them - the cord seems like a small inconvenience unless you have a really long driveway.
I live in rural upstate NY and we get 3ft of snowstorms 3 times a year usually. I had a nice gas snowthrower but got rid of it because it was a pain to keep the carb clean.
I mowed my sister lawn with her EGO mower, i did go through a battery and a half, but their grass was extremely long and dense, and had a decent size yard. The mower just chewed right through it

had a friend do that one year. He said he was fine, anything so he did not have to shovel. He has since moved south..

I live nearish to you, that same storm last winter fried the belts on my old 10hp beast of a snowblower.
I have a smaller one with a cord, and it needs to be connected to a slow 16A circuit. The cord is a bit annoying, but if you start near where it's connected, you'll never run over it unless you backtrack. I would not mind a bigger battery powered one.
I use a carpender saw to cut out solid blocks from the plow dams and move them by hand. Pretty fair packing for igloo making.
Nice! I own lots of dewalt and Milwaukee. Thinking of going with ego for the snowblower and lawnmower but adding a 3rd battery kinda has me undecided.
You want to finish the job, get the extra battery. Of course you will pay almost as much for a extra battery vs. what the tool costs.
EGO products have been good for me so far - I have the mower, trimmer and blower - all have worked well and the batteries are interchangeable with everything. Going forward the batteries do lose power over time and eventually cannot be charged fully and new batteries are expensive, but that will be the main expense
Two-stage blowers are just a ton better, primarily how well and far they throw the snow. But, single gets the job done I guess. But yes, definitely, lawn tools now should be electric unless there's a very specific not to (like needing to cover massive areas or some such). There's no reason not to, cleaner, quieter and lower maintenance too.

We have the two stage model and it is terrific. We also have the zero turn mower which is also terrific.
So far very happy with the Ryobi Lawnmower and leaf blower 40v system... Make sure you get the battery with the tool though

Word of warning from Minnesota, if its - 10 or below the batteries will error out on every brand I've had. Lithium hates to be stupid cold.
I bought the 2 stage 1 year ago. The most snow I get is 1 feet in a day in denver area. Most of the time we get about a few inch. Overkill, yes. But it throws snow about 50 ft. Worth every penny!!!! Expensive at $1500 though....
I'm using an EGO single-stage snowblower for the first time this season (2022-2023), on three occasions so far. By the numbers: I can clear ~1,354 SF of 4-6 inches of wet-to-dry snow, with ~1/4 battery charge remaining. It takes ~1 hour to recharge the batteries (2) back to full capacity. I'm happy to share my experience using this snowblower and to help you decide if the single-stage or the two-stage (at twice the cost) snowblower is a better fit for your particular circumstance. Not yet knowing how long the parts will hold-up, I would rate this as a gem of a snowblower for my purposes and certainly worth the price I paid of ~$750 from my local Lowes.
That did not look like a foot of snow, but the snow shaver seems to be a good tool for a residential style application...and, your plow people seem to take it a lot easier on your drive than the extra chunky piled to the sky plow leftovers in my neighborhood.
A long time ago, before batteries were really a thing for something like this, I remember having to take my gas blower to the shop every fall. So I bought and electric one that used a wire, and it's still around, working great, and never been to the shop for any reason.
Its a cathardic task and very satisfying when its done, not weird
