  • I have been having problems with my savage b22 precision failing to feed pretty much every round that I tried from Lapua center X all the way down to Remington bucket of bullets. I realized that the magazine wasn’t sitting up high enough. After sending the gun back to savage, and then telling me nothing was wrong with it. I decided to fix it myself. I cut and bent a piece of metal to push the magazine up higher and epoxied it to the magazine retention area. After doing that I’ve been able to feed all the ammo I’ve tried flawlessly.

Great Idea, I had a similar issue and ended up adding strips of aluminum tape (6-8 layers since its very this) to the feeding area on all my magazines. I added it from just in front of the rotary ammo holder and then up to the flat area just before the bevel, cutting any excess from the bevel area. This raises the nose of the bullet up and feeds every round without fault and without scraping the bullet face. The key is to get the ammo raised a little further up just as you did and with a more permanent solution. Thank you

I just got this rifle and noticed a similar problem seating the mag. Also gonna look for more mags. Thanks for the info.

Thank you. The FTF killed me at a NRL match today, I’ll try this.

Yea I haven’t had a single ftf issue since I’ve done this mod. I wasn’t gonna bother trying to send it back to savage again.

Good video I just brought a savage B mag WSM I have to slap the magazine several times in order to sit it or it will fall out. I haven’t taken it apart yet since I have a Boyd’s stock coming that may cure the problem

I think I may have found an easier way to fix it. Mine wasn’t doing it to bad it would have maybe a little ding. What I noticed when I would work the bolt slow the bullet is going in at a angle causing the gouge the reason (in my case) is their wasn’t enough spring tension to pop the round up to fully seat in the bolt face. You can add tension to the mags by disassembling them and twisting counter clockwise.

Yea I’m not sure that would’ve fixed mine. Mine sat really low. Glad you found a fix for yours though!

I had the same fix, pointed it up just enough so it doesn’t have issues
