MASS EFFECT 2 - HOW TO GET FULL PARAGON
• Mass Effect 2 - How to...
MASS EFFECT 2 - HOW TO SAVE EVERYONE
• Mass Effect 2 - How to...
In order to earn your squadmates’ trust, you need to complete their individual loyalty missions. In the case of Jack and Miranda, earning and keeping their loyalty is made more complicated due to the personal beef between them.
When you’ve completed both Jack and Miranda’s loyalty missions, this triggers a short cut scene back on The Normandy. Jack and Miranda are in an intense argument and Shepard needs to intervene. In order to keep both characters’ loyalty in this conversation, you need to pass either a paragon or renegade speech check to squash the beef.
The requirement for paragons is roughly 80%, or 4 bars on the meter, in order to unlock this option. For renegades the requirement is easier to pass at roughly 60%, or 3 bars on the meter.
If you’re currently in the middle of a playthrough and haven’t triggered this fight yet, I recommend waiting to complete the second loyalty mission until you meet the requirements to pass this speech check. It’s much better if you’re able to resolve this conflict in the initial fight, especially if you’re interested in romancing one of these characters.
If your morality meter doesn’t meet the requirements then these speech options will be grayed out, and you will have to choose a side. You will lose the loyalty of whichever character you tell to back off.
How to Boost Paragon / Renegade Scores
If you’re having trouble passing speech checks in Mass Effect 2, here are some tips to boost your paragon or renegade meter. I have an entire video on how to max out your paragon score if you want a full explanation on how to do this. But here are the basics.
First, you need to stick to one alignment for the rest of your playthrough. Mass Effect 2’s speech checks are % based, so if you have a mixed alignment character or you frequently choose neutral options, then the checks are much more difficult to pass.
Second, if your alignment score is fairly low, check to see if you have the skill bonus. Every class in the game has a power and specialization that grants a 100% bonus to your paragon and renegade scores.
If you don’t have this bonus, simply put points into it as you level up and choose the right specialization, or respec your character using the Retrain Powers research project in the Normandy Tech Lab.
Also, don’t neglect side missions and assignments. You can pick up a lot of extra paragon or renegade points by completing these simple quests. There are a bunch of them on The Citadel, Illium and Omega, in particular. This can give you the extra boost you need to pass the game’s most difficult speech checks.
If you do have to choose a side in the initial fight, it’s still possible to regain Jack or Miranda’s loyalty after the fact. To do this, approach them on the ship and start a conversation. If you can pass a paragon or renegade speech check here, you will regain their loyalty.
The requirement for this is roughly 80-90% of either paragon or renegade. You can have this conversation anytime before launching the final mission, so if the options are grayed out, simply boost your morality meter, come back later and try again.
One extra thing to note about this - if you side against Jack in the initial argument, she will refuse to speak with you for the rest of the game, even if you regain her loyalty with a post-fight conversation. So if you wanted to learn more about her or potentially romance her, this will no longer be an option.
Speaking of romance, if you plan to form a relationship with Jack or Miranda in Mass Effect 2, then do not side against them in the initial fight. Doing this will prevent you from romancing the spurned character for the rest of the game, even if you regain their loyalty later on. So just keep that in mind.
And that’s basically it - this confrontation is really easy to mess up, especially on a first playthrough. But if you follow the steps in this video, you should have no problem keeping Jack and Miranda loyal to you. - Hry

Love your channel and I can't wait for mass effect legendary to be out on ps4
Everyone gather around, let's take a picture.....say Normandyyyy
I was gonna comment that!
@@masongarrison8071 you still can lol
I think you should have been able to prevent this fight by taking Miranda on Jack's loyalty mission, so she can see Cerberus' true colors.
That’s something I thought might be possible on my 2nd play through way back in 2010...would been a very nice touch if they included this
I actually thought bringing Miranda makes the fight even more realistic, since she's still in denial about Cerberus
Hmm interesting, the fight did not happened in my last run and i was thinking it was because i took Miranda along on Jack's mission, i have played ME2 multiple times and this is the first time this scene didn't trigger no matter how many times i tried to speak to Miranda between missions.
@@DoomsdayMayBeOkay That's nt true in mine. I bought miranda for Jack loyathy mission and the fight still occurred. In mine I had secured miranda's loyathy first.
I agree I also think that it should be the same for taking Jack on Miranda’s mission. Maybe seeing her point of view as well as seeing Miranda as being more human with her sister.
I'm sure it would be crazy extensive, but I would like to see a list of the best companions to take on each loyalty mission... the best extra/hidden dialog for brining particular extra characters on someone's loyalty mission, ie Miranda on Jack's mission to get the Cerberua perspective or how the Quarians freak out when brining Legion on Tali's.
In a true fight I would bet on the psycho over the cheerleader.
Amen
Madness always win when it comes to violence
I’m not so sure, Jack does seem more powerful but she’s far too reckless. How long do you think she would last out in the galaxy without Shepard? She’d get herself killed. Where as Miranda is smart and capable enough to handle things herself.
@@incognito3817 she lasted out in the galaxy, without Shepard, quite well on her own, after she escaped Pragia, for about 10 or 15 years, at a guess.
Samara kicks both their asses.
This part is so asinine. It requires a absurd amount of persuasion. In the legendary edition they said they were easing the requirement for this.
What why?
Just Stick to a side It isn't difficult to max a stat
@@Mepphy99it’s difficult for this one if you get too this scene early on. You’d also have to have a play style based on if your paragon or renegade rather than the more natural mixed type which will more likely happen if you play the game organically (RPG- the choices you choose based on your own interest rather than their classification).
I have never failed this confrontation.
Tali vs. Legion on the other hand has gone south with more mixed character.
@@martint5340 i mean i play paragon but the renegade choices the game offers me i like are like 3 or 4
@@Mepphy99 guess in more of a douchbag then. x) not enough to like all of them though.
How many times does Commander Shepard say "I should go?" I dare you to count all of it
Sounds like a terrible drinking game idea.
Here's how I keep Jack and Miranda loyal. Start at the beginning of the first game and follow either paragon or renegade option and stick to it as much as you can. I follow the paragon path but have a small amount of renegade points. Then keep following the same path you started in the first game in the second game and you'll pass speech checks EASILY. Also what Dan said about side missions does help and also talking with your crew as well.
I really needed this when I first played the game, now I know how to do it but I still watch your videos because mass effect and great content
Keep up the good work Commander Dan
keelah se’lai!
If worst comes to worst, side with Jack. Miranda is very likely to survive the Suicide Mission, even if not loyal. Just don't have her escort the crew, and don't take her to the final boss.
Thanks, it worked!
She still died in my first play through. Final section, when everyone was trying to hold off the Collectors while Shepard killed the Reaper. She died so the others could escape.
@@grantbarday5760 Yeah that can happen if the 'hold the line' group has too low of a combined 'defense' score. To give non-loyals the best shot of surviving this section, you should leave behind the toughest members of your squad: Grunt, Garrus, Zaeed, Legion, Samara, Jacob.
Miranda will die in ME3 though if you don't keep/get her loyalty in ME2
@@Sparky0406 No great loss.

I played this so many times. One of the best videos for anyone that hast played it yet are is just getting started. All good content and advice 💯.
Big Dan is helping me get a perfect trilogy walkthrough.
The speech check requirements to keep both loyal is pretty realistic. I mean, shepard will need perfect persuasion skills to talk these two out of killing each other
Won't say that I got to see anything I didn't know already but I'm sure there are a whole bunch of new players who will benefit from this video! Keep up the good work Dan 👍😁
Thanks!
Thank you, it was really helpful!
Thank you for this. Third playthrough of ME2 as I kept tripping up on this, the Shock Trooper buff did the trick.
You deserve more subs man.
Never loved any video game series then this one. My all time best.
You should make a video on mass effect 3 endings and share your thoughts
Yeah that would be cool... what if you choose the control ending or synthesis and what would be the possible outcomes, how it will affect the next games in the series 🤔
Shepard X Miranda X Jack is canon.
Gotta love the heat of this trio
Thank god for this video was fretting over having to go back 6 hours because of the fight
Correction, due to how mass effect 2 handles speech checks, it is 80/60 percent of the possible paragon/renegade points the player could have obtained around that point, not 80/60 percent of the bar.
I remember losing my mind on this as a kid. Every time I could only pick one or the other. I always put it off until the very end, only chose one morality during dialogue, and it baffled me that the option was never there.
Then I played the game again at 17 and realized I never put any skill points into my reputation.
Thank you so much for this, I’ve spent 10 hours trying to up my paragon to get Miranda and Zaeed on side, turns out I just had to put more points into defender. Thanks from a noob 😊👍
Could you do a video where you can see the differences between shepard"s ME1"s Backgrounds? eg Spacer, earthborn, Warhero, Sole Suvivor
I remember failing to keep both loyal, I chose Miranda despite my feelings about Cerberus. I tried to get Jack back hearing about how it's possible to do so but laced the required points, so I found myself surprised that despite that fail she survived the final battle. I was always told non loyal team members die, guess the sources missed out on different perimeters that compensate for it
I'm playing ME2 for the first time and it's kinda ass that telling Miranda to back off is really a dumb way to lose her loyalty at all, I mean she literally stepped outta line so bad.
From what I've also learned, how much Paragon or Renegade you need seems to be dependent on how much of either you have built up vs how far you've got through the game. On a more recent playthrough, I didn't quite get enough and tried stalling Miranda's loyalty mission until the last possible moment (to the detriment of the Normandy's crew) with a nearly maxed-out Paragon meter but still couldn't diffuse the argument. If I had to impart any advice, it might be worth saving both Miranda and Jack's loyalty missions until much later to build up as much Paragon or Renegade as possible doing other main missions, loyalty missions and side-quests - though I would still advise doing both before obtaining the Reaper IFF so you don't start losing crew members to the Collectors.
The percentage scores you need also seem to be either a bit lower or inverted for a similar argument between Tali and Legion, but considering you'll likely be doing Legion's loyalty mission last, diffusing the argument between these two should be less of an issue.
I think the best way to go is to fill up atleast 5 bars totaling both renagade and Paragon,or 5 bars pure depending on how you are doing your playthrough, and then choose shock trooper and equip death mask for a extra bar.
@@Arismory That will take forever
I'm not sure the paragon meter amount actually matters since I just did this and I only had a smidge under 3 bars on the paragon meter and got the paragon option.. what I think matters more is the amount of paragon points you have at the moment compared to the maximum amount you could have gathered at that point.. either way I'm glad I got it..
I could have sworn there was a biotic speech check to break up the Miranda Jack fight also
That would be interesting to see
@@mega9538
Honestly, implementing more of the Class-specific interrupts would be a good idea for ME5. Shows that it lends itself to more than just your style of combat.
@@ReallyKeepingFictional you mean 4. Andromeda isn’t considered the sequel to 3, it’s just a standalone expansion
@@eden20111 more of a spinoff but I agree
Very thorough with the game, so I got the speech check and quashed it on my first playthrough
Changing my ability to shock trooper and wearing the death mask did the trick.I had to redo the mission about 5 times until I got it to work.Once I changed to shock trooper,I got 4 bars on paragon, which was enough to pass the speech check.
Yes but Shepard doesnt wear that in this cutscene
You should make a video about how to get back Tali's or Legion's Loyalty as well. I really wonder how much Paragon or Renegade points you need to make peace with Tali if you sided with Legion during their confrontation.
God i hope this is fixed on the legendary edition, mass effect 2 is a good game but the morality system is kinda broken if only the choices weren't so greedy with their paragon/renegade checks
Your vids are really good, i wasn’t planing to buy mass effect trilogy but after watching your videos i already pre-ordered it.
Thanks
Glad you like them! Hope you enjoy Legendary Edition when it comes out in May! I'm stoked to play the remaster

I was able to do the paragon choice, and my rank was at 3 bars. Is it like that, because I imported my character from me1?
How many Paragon Points I need to recover Jack's loyalty? I have 4 full Paragon bars and I don't have the paragon dialog option enabled yet
So wait can i play both paragon and renegade cause i sometimes choose the paragon interrupts but sometimes do renegade ones same thing with conversations and I hardly choose any neutral sentence options.
Did you know when the staff behind off mass effect legendary edition was on interview they said this part was fixed so people doesn't get stressed for not having enough paragon or renegade points to keep the loyalty of both in less words we are gonna need lesser points for keep their loyalty I dont know you but I was so excited about that what do you think everyone
OH THANK THE LORD. So does that mean no more doing things in a specific order? Or when to do it? I just need to stick with paragon or renegade and that’s it?

Will you do a video on how to keep Tali and Legion loyal?
I always struggled with this.
It's not about how high your par, ren bar only. It's about percentage of your actions. how many paragon actions you made / all actions is the math. You can have full bar and still fail the option of keeping them both loyal. İf you re paragon. You can't do too many renegade actions here and there. Also you can't go this mission too early or too late. More missions you go before this one, increases the chance to lower your paragon or renegade percentage. And if you fail, you have to load early saves. its best to do this mission after jacop, miranda and preferably one more loyality mission. Have a nice day.
How did you find this out?
Make a video about the worst choices to start mass effect 3
hello !! i have 4 bars full paragon and a litlle of the 5 bar but i dont take loyalty both miranda and jack (speech check miranda is grey if i choose jack !! any help?
I have 4 bars of Paragon and 1.5 Renegade, both of the options are gray and I tried to side with one of them, when I talk to another one all the options are gray too. Same thing with Zayeed's loyalty mission. Help?
Hi. In the fight i chose miranda and Jack is angry now and tells me, why i don't speak with Miranda?. Can i do something that she isn't mad anymore?
This screwed up my ending the first time I played the game. I didn't have enough paragon points so I had to side with someone. I ended up choosing Jack and lost Miranda in the final battle. If this wasn't enough, I also chose Miranda as leader for the second group the first time, hoping that would regain her loyalty because she insisted (I know, stupid). Because of this Legion died as well.
I remember having a hard time getting Miranda's loyalty back since i would always side with Jack because i didn't have enough paragon points for the speach option (somehow). I'm not sure how i wasn't able to use the paragon speach since i had everything maxed out. I only successfully got her loyalty back once but most of the time i had to use the Save Editor to get her loyalty back.
How much Paragon or Renegade Points you had?
This is sort of off topic but i wanted to share since i didn’t find a video of it- if you bring Samara and Jack to Ilium, you can have both of them express their view of planet (the small dialogue pieces at random locations with random squadmates). Anyway, when Jack expresses her view of Ilium, Samara actually responds to her lol. It’s quite funny and small but i thought it might be a detail that many people may have missed. Have fun ME players!
Piss off Miranda if you have to. Even without loyalty, she has lowest priority for nearly all suicide mission deaths. She can even survive getting sent back to the ship without loyalty.
So I went into the fight right before IFF with a nearly maxed out paragon and nothing. Miranda wont even let me talk to her.
I had this scene right after doing Miranda's mission and having both characters loyalty. Then, I Lost Miranda Loyalty and could not save her.
Was very confusing, so I did another run
Hi Dan! Could you please make a guide how to make everybody dies during the final mission of Mass Effect 2? I've played ME2 three times as a paragon and I'll really want to play like a total asshole this time.
I'm planning on doing this at some point in the next month or so. It's just going to take a little time since I need to play through the whole game from scratch and make all the worst decisions. But this is probably my most requested video lol
So to keep them both loyal _and_ still be able to talk to them, "side" with Jack in their argument, then pass the Paragon check with Miranda? 🤔
Great. See, this is how it all starts. When we're all just organic batteries, guess who they'll blame? 'This is all Joker's fault. What a tool he was. I have to spend all day computing pi because he plugged in the Overlord
EDI likes the sight of humans on their knees.
That was a joke.
In my playthrough I was 80% paragon and was able to get Jack to be loyal again after siding with Miranda....went down to her area and the blue paragon option was available...as I have like 10% renegade
My paragon/renegade scores wern't high enough so I chose Jack because even though they were kinda both in the wrong. But I chose Jack because Miranda didn't seem to understand the shit Jack had to go through.
This happened right after I did Miranda's loyalty mission and told her to talk to her sister. Then this and BAM Miranda isn't loyal anymore. Why is she so angry about this?
Miranda always died in the suicide mission for me and I hated it.
They definitely like each other.
Strange fantasy you have there.
It’s so impossible to do this in the legendary version.
How do you get the be a better woman option it won’t let me chose it
I tried to regain Miranda’s loyalty with 100% paragon. It didn’t work? Is there some sort of glitch?
Point is - it is not about 80% (or some other percentage idk) of the paragon bar, but 80% of the paragon you could have obtained overall AT THAT point in the game.
Example: After the first mission (Freedoms Progress I believe) you could have either (just example numbers, not actual) 30 Renegade or 30 Paragon points, so the maximum
is 30 (which would be really low on the displayed bar in the menu). Then you visit Omega. Stepping foot on Omega there are (again just example numbers) 70 R or 70 P. So in totale you now COULD have obtained 100 points. Which, in order to pass the check, makes you need 80 points (80%). Taking this example further. Lets say that at some point in the game you now have completed both loyalty missions and have visited various planets. You have done a lot of paragon decisions and you have now 200 Points (your bar seems full). But secretly you COULD have (assuming you would do EVERY paragon decision on EACH "discovered" planet) gotten 300 points. NOW you get to the speech check. And you will fail that because you only have 66% of all possible paragon points up until that point in the game.
In short: Full bar does not equal you have maxed out this stat. The system in me2 is pretty bad^^
You need 6 bars in total even if you have a pure paragon.Shock trooper+death mask is the way to go if you have 5 bars filled.
Do their loyalty missions and pass a speech check. There you go.
That were the first 2 Loyality Missions i just wanted to do. Thank God i wanted to know who to take with me on Jacks Mission. And especialy thanks to you man.
Im finished mass effct 2 bot steel i cant get jack loyal my paragon bar is full and i have two bar renegat what should i do?
Try changing your ability to shock trooper and equip the death mask which can be bought on the krogan planet.
Jacob can bite dust for all the care I give about him.
Revisiting this video made me to realize, that I made it done with my Renegon FemShep, that I had the necessary Renegade score to pass the Speech Checks, even if by that time, my Renegon FemShep had 2-3 Bars of Paragon and 4 Bars of Renegade. An interesting playthrough. By the end of the game, my Renegon FemShep had 3 Bars of Paragon and Maxed out Renegade Score. What do you think of this, Dan? 😄
I love them both 100
I have 4.5 bars and it still didn’t get the option to do the paragon or renegade options.
Maybe a bug. I failed this once so loaded an earlier save to get enough paragon points. Worked seamlessly.

How do I import my Shepard from Mass Effect 3 to Andromeda ??? Help help damn it
You can't. Andromeda follows a different main character that isn't Shepard from Mass Effect 3.
All that matters is how high your score is. You just blue or red your way out. Ironically you just pick a color but with Legendary Edition it's all too easy.
you can keep the disloyal person alive after the suicide mission. on one playthourhg i sided with jack, then on the loyalty mission i made sure miranda had no responsibilities and she survived despite being pissed at me about jack
11 years later, and I still have no idea how the fuck this interaction works.

TL;DR: As is the case with most of these videos, the answer is: "pass a speech check"
You know, I really hate how ME2 punishes you for roleplaying instead of just mindlessly going 100% Paragon or Renegade in every single interaction.
I agree. The paragon/renegade checks as they are now suck. I think there should be checks, but they should be much lower.

Jack: F*** OFF!
Me: O_O... ok.
the thing I hate about mass effect is that if you want 1 freakin dialogue to be available you gotta play the entire freakin game doing either comlpete paragon or renegate which is just utterly stupid - you can't make choices which you want, and if that dialogue wouldn't effect the game much then fine, but nooo, it is the way to play the game says the developer, ugh, one of few things that piss me off in this game series. why couldn't they've done dialogues like lets say fallout new vegas has, that game is sooo good - the dialogues are if not the best I've ever seen in games then they almost are the best, sometimes they're just hilarious
I'm trying to remember from way back when I did it, it might have some checks related to renegade/paragon, but I think it also has something to do with how soon you do each of their loyalty missions when you are first given them. If you do then as soon as you get them, I believe it will allow you to choose the special options. Likely works for tali/legion fight too.
I have 4 bars and a half and still dont get that option or the one with Miranda after the fight
It's about the percentage of paragon/renegade points you actually acquired throughout the game up until that point, it doesn't matter how full your bar is, that's just visual aid with minimal real impact. I don't remember how much you need exactly to pass the check, but I think it was something like 80% (maybe more) of the Paragon/renegade points the game gave you the chance to acquire.
@@samueledionisi6803 I certainly have acquired more than that I have completed every other mission and almost all choices I did were paragon I dont even have one full bar at renegade

It is kinda usefull to pick Miranda with every other biotic, as long as you bring fully leveled WARP with either Miranda or /and your own shepard, you may get biotic explosions.
