This is a video where I talk about how I've noticed movie ad-campaigns becoming bad. Which makes me not want to see them.

Ngl same thing for the Batman movie, they had a website where you had to solve 3 riddles a week and you got a cypher which you could decipher with the answered riddle from the trailer. Even after the movie came out there was still riddles for a deleted scene and an ad for a comic. Ngl it was so much fun and call me ign but it made me feel like Batman deciphering everything and trying to come up with what it all meant, I even still have the paper with the complete symbol to alphabet decipher lying around somewhere. W marketing.
it was also a great movie
The thing I hate the most is when trailers for movies reveal all the best moments in the trailer. I’ve seen trailers that literally spoil the entire movie. At the same time, I also hate trailers that are nothing but dramatic quotes and random footage because it tells me nothing about the movie. I remember watching a trailer for this movie in the theaters and at the end of it a guy shouted “Does anyone know what that movie is about?” and at least 10 people including myself shouted back “No”.
Was it by chance a teaser for longlegs?

Deadpool 2 had some creative marketing, I wish I could find a compilation of all the commercials and trailers used in it, because they were VERY fun to watch.
They don't market movies like deadpool did anymore. They took every opportunity to make you shove the movie to your face and it worked.
Annoys the hell out of me when its basically an interview with an actor. Feels like they’re trying to say
“You like Michael B. Jordan. We know you do. He’s in this movie, watch it because he’s in it.”
my favourite thing about the movies i watch is that they feel like movies you know not many movies these days feel like movies its really rare to find a movie that feels like a movie these days
I think i know what you mean. Movies these days IMO don't have a sense of warm 'completion' to them even the franchises back then still kinda had that but i do think movies nowadays are also more experimental

The Death Stranding movie I hope gets some viral marketing. What I enjoyed more than the game itself was the couple of years that we Kojimtards collaborated to theorize an piece together what little we knew. But sadly I'd leave anything with a baby out of it because of current political sensitivities.

It’s because our favorite movies aren’t because we like the fact that it has action and humor, it’s our favorite characters, and as campaigns showing off these amazing characters will always be better than those who just showcase what genre it’s in

I'm too old for viral campaigns, ARGs, and online marketing to work. I did, in fact, go see The Dark Knight because it was another Batman movie. "Why So Serious" is a great quote but it ain't worth a cultural phenomenon IMO.
TBH I just need a good ole fashioned "In a world..." movie trailer. I see who made it, who is in it, what genre it is, the budget level...and that's all I need to decide. I don't watch interviews. I've NEVER gone to specific movie's website. I don't even go to theaters. I have rented or bought since the 90s, and streamed since the 2010s.

2017 - 2019 were great years for trailers. I miss those days... for some reason they just don't feel the same. Ant man 3 first trailer and Mario movies was the closest we got.

Recently been falling asleep to old Toonami/cartoon Network blocks here on CZcams, who else remembers the Ancient Mew card you could get when Pokemon the Movie 2000 first came out? Or the gold cards that came in Pokeballs from Burger King (used to have Mewtwo of those).
Ad campaigns today are just about "going viral" or getting enough clicks/views to satisfy the suits :/
Marketing is added on top of the budget, the numbers are rarely release so you usually just double the budget to get the “real” cost of the movie

What's funny about Creed 3 is that while I saw it, I did not see it because of the marketing, but because it was related to the Rocky franchise. If it was a boxing film separate from the franchise, I think it would have flopped big time. In my opinion the story was boring, the soundtrack was the most boring of the franchise, and worst of all, Stallone was not in it despite it being him who created and made the franchise what it is today.

Though they’re not exactly the best movies the website viral marketing for the Jurassic world trilogy and Godzilla king of the monsters was really cool, there was a ton of hidden lore and some dinosaur CZcamsrs are now canon to the Jurassic universe thanks to the websites.
