mj hakeem duncan to me are obvious perfect basketball two way high iq versatile defensive unselfish minded stars at their peaks to put together no debate multiple finals mvps for a reason from these 3 mvps….duh..but then we got to think about fit during a season and while bron and kobe may be better players than klay and bird I think they fit better off ball then say a bron kobe or even kd would so I would have klay an bird next to them instead and my team would have literally no weaknesses on either end....imagine klay and bird playing in the corners wings standing still coming off screens on opposite sides of the floor from duncan and hakeem lol with mj passing them the ball while one cuts to the rim the other for a shot....like the nba would not know how to guard that....obviously bron in transition and d is better than bird and curry is a better scorer than klay but two ways?..i take klay actually over curry as a 5th option mind you on this all star team since he knows how to score without having the ball in his hands like steph has or kd or kobe did....or bron...its just facts ...bigs like shaq wilt russell have weaknesses guarding smaller shooters and players so to me I dont want so give me 2 guys who can shut anyone down...there is only 1 ball and you have to defend another teams best 5 players right?...to me this 5 some just fits the best in terms of an actual system....obviously in terms of talent klays not on this level and I think brons better than bird as a talent being so much more versatile and kareem may be better than hakeem
Hakeem, MJ, Magic, Bird, and Duncan is the best lineup. Lebron can play in a system, and Kobe was able to at least be coached by Phil Jackson. If LeBron could play off ball, he would be a good fit. If you have MJ, you don't need Kobe.

Larry Bird was a much better small forward than Lebron. Until age 33 when Bird's back was shot he was better than Lebron in every category in a time defense was much tougher.

007 dude I’m definitely old enough to have watched bird and magic. This is “old head mentality” The players are way more athletic today than they ever were. I would give you that they were a bit more fundamentally sound but you don’t have to do that as much when you players that are bigger faster and stronger. LeBron would have absolutely murdered the 70, 80, and the 90’s. Of course bird was an excellent player but he is not even close to being better than LeBron.

Bird did have better numbers than Lebron in every category until his back went out. Bird was a much much much better shooter and scorer especially when the game was on the line. Michael Jordan even said Bird was the greatest small forward of all time. When he said he he was talking to a guy who said Lebron was better. Bird is without a doubt the greatest small forward to ever play the game. My all time starting 5 is an easy and obvious pick at most positions. Jordan, Magic, Bird, Duncan and Kareem. Lebron will hold records but they will come from playing such a long career and staying healthy not from having a better prime. Lebron has indeed folded up in the finals before showing no heart against Dallas especially. Pat Riley said if he needed somebody to make a shot to win a game he would choose Michael Jordan. If he needed somebody to make a shot to save his life he would choose Larry Bird. Lebron is a great all around player largely due to his freakish size for a guy so athletic but that's where it ends. A big part of why I choose guys is winning and being the guys who come up big when it counts not Lebron who isn't even his own teams first option when they need a game winning shot. He might wind up with that responsibility on the Lakers because of the way that team is built but he won't handle it well.

So what do you need bird for, besides his three point shooting which is far better than lebron's. Otherwise, perfect lineup.

@@franknice187 I picked Kobe mostly for defense. I have enough scoring. He's tied for 2nd all time in defensive player selections. Plus he knows the triangle so he will fit in nicely with MJ. Giannis doesn't count as an all-time PF in this era. He's more of a point-forward like Lebron is. When I say all-time PF's I mean the old-timers like Malone who would absolutely destroy Lebron in the post and rebounding.
Mr. Bacon they’re 1 inch within each with 10 pounds difference. I doubt Malone will have it that easy. Bron can space out the floor as well as play inside. I see this a fair match-up. I love TD but I am taking Bron at any position over TD any day of the week.

Magic had a triple double but MJ had almost a 36 points triple double and 3 steals in that first game.The Pippen guarded Magic for most of the second game, and did a great job, but still Magic was 3 rebounds short for a triple double. And that’s it. Although alternating with Pippen, MJ guarded Magic for most part of the rest of the series.
Magic was pretty good of course. 6 foot 9 also.
Shannon’s first team had the best player in each position. But if we thinking best 5 to win a game...
1- Steph: to space the floor, underrated passer and you can’t pass up on his shooting, his inability in the clutch is irrelevant because Jordan will get the shot
2- Jordan: is gonna get the ball mostly and can cover defensively for Curry
3- Bird: even though LeBron is better, Bird doesn’t need the ball to dominate and is a better shooter and rebounder
4- Tim Duncan: this one is the flex spot, could easily be KG or Dirk but I’ll take Duncan for his consistency and for being the best forward in the post which is an area we’re missing
5- Bill Russell: best defensive centre and can hold the team together
