    Self discipline, self motivated and it all showed on the field. All the fame never got to him and he held everyone accountable. His work ethic and Michael's held everyone to a different standard. Thank you for this. My first Cowboys game was his rookie yr against the Cards. He got knocked out on the pass and Dixon made the T.D. Definition of the perfect TEAMMATE

    Non Cowboy fan here, but I remember Aikman breaking into the league and being floored by what I was seeing. Beyond the high IQ and crazy arm talent, I was so impressed with his heart and courage. Those early Cowboy teams weren't that great and Troy took a pounding back there. But you'd never know it by watching his next pass. He never flinched in a collapsing pocket, never ducked or short armed a pass with freight train bearing down on him. Absolutely fearless and inspiring as a leader. Here's to you Mr Aikman. 👍👍👍😎❤️💯🔥

    Fantastic video Sir. I'm a native Texan from Beaumont. The 1st time I saw my Cowboys play live was Opening Day 1989 at the New Orleans Superdome. It was Troy's 1st game in the NFL, and they lost 28-0 to Bobby Hebert and the Saints. Saints fans were buying me sympathy beers that day! A mere 3 years later, they won their first of a 3 out of 4 Superbowl winning run. COWBOYS DYNASTY such as had never been seen before, and sadly none since SB XXX. Go Cowboys!!!!

    This guy gets more hate from ignorant fans than any other player. They dont get he just wanted to win, played on a run heavy team with the all time leading rusher and also went #1 to a bad cowboys team. If he was in another system he could have put up huge numbers. He always made the throw when he had to, had his best games in big games and kept a offense with huge personalities in check. A true leader and one of the best arm talents of all time .

    My favorite QB of all time. I remember getting a small black and white tv in my room at 10 years old. I would have it on with the sound off after I was supposed to be in bed asleep, just so I could see him play on Monday night. Playing backyard football, I had the strongest arm in the neighborhood. I’d mumble to myself every time I’d drop back “Aikman drops back”. Great memories.

    One other comment is that Jimmy always wanted Aikman and Troy spurned him twice. I can see why Jimmy saw all that potential in Aikman because he had that strong arm and was accurate too. Even in America's Game, Troy realized that it was fate that Jimmy and Troy would be together. They really did make beautiful music together.

    The television networks did not possess the digital quality of todays’ technology, as it is what it is for 1980’s network TV. However, if you do care to witness a truly tight spiral with pin point accuracy to the receiver running a post route, then look no further than this pass from Troy 10:29. That is something damn near close to a perfect pass.

    Troy Aikman got the ability under Jimmy and Jerry to develop which in today's NFL you don't get that luxury. Look what happened TODAY! Justin Fields from the Bears got traded to Pittsburgh as a back up to Russell Wilson. Just this week, Kenny Pickett from the Steelers got traded to the Eagles. All 1st rounders. Troy won 0 GAMES in 1989, 7 in 90, got hurt in the Washington game and say his backup succeeded. In today's NFL, you are getting traded if you can't produce. That 1992 off season was so important. Troy was feeling he wasn't wanted. So he wanted to be traded and Jimmy didn't allow that. He gave Troy the chance to prove himself and he did. One of the few times in the 90's that he started all 16 games plus the playoffs. It all worked out.

    That’s why we see the clip of SAS not remembering of Aikman beat Young or Montana. Talking heads don’t prepare. They just spout words, push narratives & try to stir drama. But the game & the players, the coaches & what they accomplish on the fields is how legacies & NFL history is made. Thank you for an excellent video. Good luck with your Cowboys this season. 🍀👍

    Another great video. I've always agreed with Pat Summerall's assertion that Aikman is the most accurate thrower in NFL history. Not sure I've ever seen the clip on youtube, but after one SB I saw Aikman appear on David Letterman's show and do the throw the football through the driving taxi window contest. Aikman nailed it perfect first try. Other QBs I saw, like Steve Young and and I think Brett Favre, struggled with it.

    • @thelogicalcowboy
      @thelogicalcowboy  Před 2 měsíci +2

      I think Aikman would have had an even more dynamic arm had he not injured his throwing arm. If you watch Aikman's highlights before his injury his arm strength was the greatest I've seen outside of Bret Favre. Irvin said if you weren't careful he would break your fingers. Ironically because of that injury, I think he became even more accurate. His throwing motion improved because he didn't rely just on arm strength. But having Norv Turner as the quarterback whisperer could have played a part in that as well. But yeah man. Aikman was the most accurate quarterback in history. Steve Young has better efficiency numbers. But I consider that due to that West Coast offense passing to the running backs out of the backfield concept.

      The issue with Aikman haters is you guys ignore certain statistics to make your argument credible. When we evaluate pound-for-pound eras... Aikman had one of the most efficient primes in the history of the league and the numbers and accolades prove it.

  • @rodneymathews6775
    @rodneymathews6775 Před 2 měsíci +1

    Aikman's Super Bowl XXVII performance when he won the MVP award was proof positive that he was more than capable of putting up big stats during his career. However, the offense was primarily a running offense & that's why Emmitt Smith is the all-time leading rusher in the league. Also, this is the reason Aikman isn't talked about much when it comes to greatest qbs in NFL History and that's not Aikman's fault. He was definitely selfless when it came to his teammates as all he wanted to do was win championships. Not only that, he almost led a comeback against the 49ers in the '94 NFC Championship Game after being down 21-0 in the first 5 or 7 minutes of the 1st quarter, but ended up losing 38-28. To me, Aikman was definitely one of the all-time great qbs.

    Jerry Jones held the 90's Cowboys back from becoming the BEST Football Team in History to win as many Super Bowl Championships EVER.
    The Dallas Cowboys would have been looked at like the Green Bay Packers when they were winning Championships back in the 50's and 60's! (Before they named them Super Bowls)
    Go look at how many Championships the Green Bay Packers won in a row, before they were called Super Bowls.
    That was the 90's Dallas Cowboys!
    Troy Aikman should be mentioned in ALL the GRESTEST QB's of ALL Time.
    Him and the other Player's on that 90's Team were held back from winning no telling how many Super Bowl Championships if Jimmy Johnson would have stayed intact!
    Now the Patriots and Tom Brady are the QB and Team with the most Super Bowl Championships in History!
    Damn Shame.

Definitely not Steve Young or bledsoe not even elway at that point of his career. Not only was he deadly accurate he had that something. It's the thing that it's hard to quantify that makes so many first round quarterbacks busts. Luck, situation, team that they get drafted by... But in the end great quarterbacks elevate their teams. And Troy had to do this with Emmett and Michael in his ear. He made the triplets cohesive

      I'm taking Aikman any day of the year. Steve Young had better efficient numbers in the regular season. But in the post-season or big ganes no one was better than Aikman in his prime. The guy was born to play in big games.

    I was a player in neighboring Okmulgee oklahoma and played him from peewee through high school. The talk about him was rising about him by high school. Thinking to myself I'm going to knock him down a peg or two. I had my chance one play. I broke into the backfield and had him in my sights. 😂 He let go of a pass with the sound of a sonic boom as it whizzed passed my ear hole! 😮OKAY! Maybe he dies have a arm. Still tickes me to this day.

      I think he's the greatest owner in NFL history! But ironically the worst manager in history as well. Lol. I have a love-hate understanding of Jones. Although I do think it's Steven Jones and Will McLay who is making the ultimate decisions at this point. In many cases Jones is just the face of the franchise.

    Great video my guy. I liked the old footage of aikman as a youngster.
    Yes, the man was deadly accurate. There’s no doubt he’s a worthy hall of famer, but let me challenge you. Let’s say he never got a ring. Say Dallas gets eliminated in a champ game, or even a Super Bowl and it happened his whole career. Do you think he’d get in on his stats alone?

    • @thelogicalcowboy
      @thelogicalcowboy  Před 2 měsíci +5

      I think they would have gone a different route. Instead of running the ball like they did. They probably would have turned the offense into a passing scheme. If they did that he still goes to the Hall of Fame. Aikman would have broken all kinds of records. But to answer your question more directly. No, he doesn't get in based on the stats he has if you add in post-season loses. But the stats he had were because of scheme, not skill. In fact if you break down his numbers and compare it with quarterbacks of his own era Aikman was the most efficient quarterback of the 90s outside of Steve Young.

    • @deadlyoneable
      @deadlyoneable Před 2 měsíci +2

      @@thelogicalcowboythanks for taking the time for that response. And I agree, emmitt and the running game is exactly why he had the stats he did. I wasn’t implying and denigrating to aikman by that. My hypothetical was kind of faulty cause I’m assuming nothing else changes and the offense remains how it was, but they could never clinch the Super Bowl.
