    You can't disprove a negative, but the burden of proof is not on the Atheists but on the Theists.

      youtube hates me and never lets me comment in the main thread so i have to put this here....
      i think the most honest you can be is agnostic but the most realistic view i would argue is atheism... if you want to believe existence starts with an omnipotent deity capable creation you have to assume that essentially the first thing to exist was also something like the most complex. well then what created this deity?
      seems a logical fallacy to me.
      although of course it would seem there will always be some ultimately unanswerable questions, but i suspect existence starts with something like a sonoluminescence producing cavitation, probably multiple. the resulting light then would create space. then when light waves collide you get the emergent property that is time. time being the result of measurement, including observation, of electromagnetic radiations. but that's just some of my ponderings.... so in a sense we are all god, conscious of our interactions/measurements in our environment we are creators. i find the more religious one is the further from god they are. religion is typically misinterpretation of cultural mythology and a mechanism to rationalise fears and gaps in understanding.
      here is to spiritual atheism, pantheism and those who question with boldness even the existence of a god. her is to intellectual curiosity and those who aspire to connect with their environment and appreciate being a product of it.
      notw? gtfo.
      all that said, i'm all for whatever it takes for someone to be a good person, but ethics, morals should be derived from empathy not ancient texts from times far different from our own.
      "If something is in me that can be called religious, then it is the unbounded admiration for the structure of the world so far as science can reveal it. -Albert Einstein"
      " a person who is fanatic in matters of religion, and clings to certain ideas about the nature of God and the universe, becomes a person who has no faith at all.
      -Alan Watts"

And like traffic, the best means of travel and things to flow and stay ordered are to keep on your side the road. Be mindful of the others. You're all heading to somewhere equally important to you both. If your destination happen to be on the other side the street don't mean you just cut across traffic with your finger and nose up in the air.

      Aser Hatem There are many proofs of evolution and the Big bang, so you shouldn't search for an invisible force anymore in order to answer the question "who created us". And yes, there are zero proofs for existence of any god(s). The idea of god is constructed so it can't be neither proved nor disproved. You can believe in them or not, it doesn't make them real. Just some stories for the naive, made up in the times when people didn't know much, as a means of comfort and control. Your belief system is obsolete. You're the one who's brainwashed. And also a fool.

    It is not the role of science to prove a negative, that is impossible; it is the role of the religious to provide evidence of a deity's existence.

    • @calvaughan27
      @calvaughan27 Před 9 lety +29

      Down_ Shift It is impossible to prove a negative, it would end up being pinned to "we just haven't found God yet". Religion and Science are not exclusive, there are scientists who are also religious, these people should attempt to prove that their God is real, otherwise we must believe the only rational thing to believe; that there is no God.

    • @jaybelurkin
      @jaybelurkin Před 9 lety

      Omg..lol...smh, Of course you would begin a quest to prove God is real, but when you come up with nothing, then its automatically a negative, no one ever sets out to see if God is fake, that would be as easy as saying, youve never experienced him, or you dont believe in going church, or hes never blessed you in life etc.
      So setting out to automatically prove God dosent exist would be way too easy to validate based off of ones personal experience. So if a particular scientist says God is just a myth, then its only because he/she spent time trying to prove if hes real 1st..

    • @gregory2355
      @gregory2355 Před 9 lety +13

      +Down_ Shift That's not how it works. A negative is something that denies a claim, and a positive is something that supports a claim. Take evolution for example: People who don't believe in evolution do not need to prove it, for they are not supporting that claim. Those who do believe in evolution how to provide proof that what they are saying is true. We have presented proof of evolution, we now see it as fact (yes, it's called the THEORY of evolution, but in science a "theory" is the highest state a scientific hypothesis can reach before becoming a law, like how Gravity is the "Theory" of gravity). So when someone denies the existence of a deity, they don't have the burden to prove it since they are making the negative claim. Those supporting the existence of the deity, they have the burden of providing proof for their claim.

Also you wouldn't brand all cars as terrible just because one car brand or two has a terrible history of mechanical problems. Many Christians scientist have worked in Nasa and created great things. You can't brand religion as stupid in your statement. God's love is more true the momentary thrills. You can be saved by confessing Christ. The Gospel, the Good News... You can free you mind and take up meaningful actions, and meaningful thoughts. Your mind itself can be transformed from meaningless jokes, like you claim, to meaningful thoughts and conversations, like Jesus Christ showed us.

      +teeno7 Rebirth doesn't come from God in Buddhism, in fact it's not even your *soul* being reborn in Buddhism (since Buddhism denies the existence of the soul), but your desires - a good analogy is that of candles: your desires are like a flaming candle, and unless you put the fire out (enlightenment), your death simply means another candle gets lit and someone else has to deal with the suffering your brought into the world through your desire.
      Buddhism generally recognizes the existence of gods, but it doesn't worship them - gods are believed to be mortal (if extremely long-lived) beings who need enlightenment just as much as any soul.

      I agree that if you are living your life ignorantly and just accepting what other people tell you as truth that you may be living in some form of hell if not then definitely you're living in a delusion. But that's the kicker, those living with delusion don't see it. I'm familiar with spirit science and once was a big enthusiast in favor of it and I like the message of love peace and tolerance that is delivered although a lot of stuff they throw out there is pretty shaky, like the moon being hollow. So I now prefer to refer to actual scientist like Richard Dawkins on issues of biology or Sam Harris with issues of the mind or Lawrence Krauss with issues of physics. These are people who have spent there entire lives questioning issues just like these.

      The same thing can be said about atheists. Religious people have gods to worship. Atheists don't, so they make their own out of men and ideas. Atheists worship the likes of Darwin and Hawking, even though they argue that they aren't religious because there's too much inconsistent, unexplained, or illogical about God.
      The difference between a theist and an atheist is that atheists worship imperfect, inconstant beings capable of mistakes, while theists worship a god. In most modern religions, God is consistent and omnipotent. It's pretty obvious which is more logical from where I'm standing. Science changes every few years, and yet atheists worship it as if it's gospel. Today, gravity is proven by throwing something out the window and seeing if it drops, but tomorrow it could be completely different. If you want examples where this has happened before, take a glance at history.
      I'm not here to try to convert anyone; all asking is are we really so different? Yes, there are things that we can never agree upon, but you cannot deny that when a human needs answers they will look to the world around them and use their own logic from there. In this way, atheists and theists are indeed the same.

    • @andrewlemerond4688
      @andrewlemerond4688 Před 7 lety +1

      Is it really though? Think back to why you believe anything that comes out of a scientist's mouth: It's because you were taught that it was so as a kid. Religious people are the same way with their doctrine.I'm not here to discredit anything any scientist has ever said in regards to the laws of the universe, but they're human, too. Humans are unreliable; we all know that. However, if we know this, how can we be sure of anything else? For thousands of years, philosophers believed that the elements were made of things like fire, water, earth, and wind. Nowadays, we know that they are made up of atoms. Everything could get turned on its head in an instant.Religion, on the other hand, focuses on feeling and spirituality. If the above paragraph is true, then surely religion's reasoning (stated in the previous sentence) is no more or less credible than science's (the scientific method).I don't feel like I properly expressed myself when I said that atheists worship science or scientists, so allow me to elaborate: An atheist will defend the word of a scientist as fiercely as any religious individual will defend their scripture, if not more so, even though their reasoning is practically the same as a religious person's. Religious people believe because they "feel it". Atheists will *say* that they believe because it's been tried and proven, but how can they believe without at least some baseless faith? Believing, as a concept, is deeply rooted in the kind of trust that can't be earned but simply is. It's the kind of trust that we always have within us; the kind we first put into our parents and our teachers. That trust is why a theist will believe that there is a god, and an atheist will believe that there isn't.As I said, I'm not here to convert anybody (I'm realistic enough to know what can and can't happen in these situations), nor say that science is hogwash (I've been a rabid fan ever since I was little). However, there's no point in trying to say that one is less credible than the other because it is built on a bedrock of faith. I'll repeat what I said in my earlier comment: Are we really that different?

      Matthew Lynch The dispute of Jesus existence are the works of those mythicist not historian. There are no prominent scholars in the field of historical jesus (mostly agnostic) who dispute the historical figure of Jesus. One of the prime source that link directly to Jesus is from the letter of Paul to christians community in Galatia (one of the seven undisputed letter from Paul), there, in Paul testimony he met James which called as the brother of Jesus. This is a direct link from undisputed source that Jesus is real figure in history. Also if the James's ossuary is proven to have a link with the allegedly Jesus' family tomb, than we will have the direct proof of Jesus existence.

    I'm never going to believe what others tell me. If I need to believe in something, it needs to prove itself to me, not by a human who has the ability to lie or at the least be persuaded.
    Edit: Please allow me to clarify what I said and why I said it so that others don't get the wrong idea:
    You are allowed to believe in whatever you want, I was not trying to offend anyone's religion in any way. I was just stating why I personally won't believe in something that other humans preach, because we all know that a human can be wrong, mislead, and lie even if it's for a good cause, not to say that God is a lie, but the idea that he could be a lie or a mislead idea is why I choose not to believe. whether or not you see it the same way as I do does not matter to me and shouldn't matter to you. Humans have been wrong before, we used to think the world was flat, and some might still believe that, but we learned otherwise and I think it's awesome that we have the ability to learn new things that we didn't know. Maybe I am wrong and God really does exist, I just haven't found out yet, but until then I am sticking to my beliefs. If you believe in God, that is your choice and It isn't a negative thing to believe in. I respect all kinds of people, black, white, gay, straight, christian, atheist, disabled, autistic, vegetarian, furry, etc... As long as you do what makes you happy and doesn't harm or disrupt others' ways of living, I respect that and you should be allowed to be you in any way you want. The world is cruel, but that's what makes it real. You just have to live in it in a way that you can accept it. Sometimes I feel the world would advance so much quicker and we would be populating other planets if our countries united and worked together to be humans who know how to survive instead of feeling that their way is the only way and that there is no other way that it should be. If you agree with me, cool, but if you don't that's fine too.

      You are correct that you believe in it. But not that your belief is fact. My point is, just because someone believes in something, doesn't make it the truth, and with that said, I won't believe in what other humans tell me, because their beliefs may or may not be true. I'll give you an example: Let's say I had a son. I told my son that he was born because God created him. He believes me. Have I told him the truth? It doesn't matter, he believes me because that is what I told him and it's the only explanation he's been given. God did not tell him, I did, and I could have easily just told him what someone else told me. I'm not saying God is or isn't real, I'm saying humans can be persuaded by other humans that something is the truth, even if it isn't.

      Disbelieving in god is easy... Pretty much the same process as disbelieving in Santa Claus. Realize that all those stories and even the presents that appear under the tree have a better explanation.
      Creations can be more complex than their creator. Living synthetic cells have been created. Yes, it's true that there are parts of life that have not yet been duplicated, but, every year, we understand more and more, and no part of life, the universe, or anything has required a supernatural explanation.
      Personally, I find it mystifying that a sane adult could believe in god, but, clearly you do.

      No, cells aren't infinitely complex, I think it would be cool if there was a god... Not the stupid one from Christianity, though. It would be also cool if I can fly, but meanwhile back in reality, no flying, no god.
      It's hard to come up with just one reason why Christianity is silly, but how about the requirement of believing for entrance to heaven... That's the kind of thing you do to fool/scare people into a religion, rather than having a sane reward/incentive system..
      Trust me, your religion looks as silly to me as the Ancient Greek gods do to you.

      Sure, if you throw away the last 500 years of knowledge, the case for god is pretty strong.
      If you throw away 3000 years, the case for the earth being flat is strong, also.

So in theory, if God does exist he would exist in a completely different realm, one that doesn't have to abide by our laws. Time doesn't really exist, it's only a mere figment of our reality, I.e our temporal realm. Anyway, In this entirety other realm where space and time doesn't exist, means that there is no beginning nor no end. For us as humans it's not difficult, is physically impossible to even being to comprehend such possibilities. Basically the point is that God wasn't created, he has and always will be existing, and he created our temporal realm which is earth, the solar system, Milky Way galaxy, and the whole damn Universe. 1. The crucifixion itself would have been an embarrassment because the Jewish messiah would have been understood to be a great leader/military general and not a criminal that was put to death.
      2. Paul wrote about meeting Jesus' brother and Jesus' main disciple.
      3. If Jesus' story had been completely made up, he would have been known as being from Bethlehem instead of Nazareth.
