Delgado is very similar in stats to Fred McGriff and therefore definitely belongs in the Hall of Fame.
As a Tigers fan I feel like Bill Freehan and Mickey Lolich should be on the next list seeing as that Lou Whitaker's still in the top 10.

Joe Carter should've been in the cooperstown was on 2 world series and Dale Murphy great career in Atlanta with the Braves in the 80's put up great years 1980-1987 2 NL Mvp and Dave Parker another great won 2 world series 1 NLMvp .
One guy I believe should definitely be in is William Dummy Hoy. He was a great hitter and stole a ton of bases. He was deaf as well and is considered to be the reason that umpires you signals to call balls and strikes

For Tommy John, he should have played 3 more mediocre years and hurt his arm enough so he couldn't lift a pencil after retirement to get those 12 wins he needed to get to 300. He might as well had a record of 4 and 8242343524362 to the writers. Just like McGriff.

The writers never seem to add qualitative factors into consideration, only those numbers that have to reach certain milestones, not 3 hits or strikeouts short of the certain milestones. Remember that Jackie goddamn Robinson almost didn't get in his first ballot (though a few no votes were probably due to racism). Larry Doby didn't get elected until 1998.
There should be a fan vote where fans elect 1 player every year who receives the most votes if the writers fail to elect anyone. So players like Curt Schilling or Carlos Beltran don't waste ballot space for 10 years because writers are petty and dumb. If the writers want to submit a blank ballot and write a "journalism" article on why they're so stunning and brave for not voting anyone, fine, but don't punish it for the rest of us. There's no point in even having a hall of fame if there isn't at least someone inducted every year.
Dave Stieb and Carlos Delgado should be HOF players. I am a huge Jays fan. I cried with tears of joy when Doc Halladay got in on 2019. You should make a video about him. We won't see another ace like him for a long time.

@@durasaxon5131 As a Yankee fan, I know how good Stieb was. I remember his near perfect game against the Yankees when he was a strike away from the feat. Stieb is the American League version of Orel Hershieser. A great pitcher who falls just short of reaching the HOF.

Doc Halladay was good with a six shooter. It's too bad he had TB.
Delgado maybe but Stieb didn't even come close with career numbers. Sure for the Blue Jays Hall of Fame but not enough for Cooperstown.

KoKo Korneko: How can he not be in the HoF. Because he went out and played the game like it should be played. No theatrics. No 'droids. No flashy defense. Just solid numbers year after year.
My dad always called the mlb sportswriters “a bunch of jock sniffing, bowtie wearing, picked last in gym class, stuck up nerds”
Darrell Evans and HoJo belong in the Hall. The voters don't like Evans' batting average, but he's 13th all time in walks. Plus he's got 400+ HR's in a non-PED era. HoJo's got similar numbers to Jackie Robinson as well as being the only switch-hitter in MLB history with multiple 30/30 Clubs, which he had 3 of within 5 years. Plus he's got 2 rings with 2 different teams.
I remember thinking the same thing about Delgado back when he was killing it. He was awesome.
For real, especially considering he did the bill of his work in essentially a 13 year career. His other 4 seasons saw playing time that doesn’t even equal one season.

Probably because you didn't see him own your hometown team as often as I did. Mine would be the Mariners. Even in their best times, it seemed like the Yankees pitching staff could frustrate the heck out of them.
Cone shouldn't make it. I see this as a reach for clicks. He was very good but never great for a long period of time. I don't see 300 wins or 3,500 strike outs. Just very good
For me, Tommy John. He missed many years and still won nearly 300 games.
Don Mattingly. Before injuries, he was arguably the best player in the AL for a 5 year span.
Omar Vizquel. Way better offensively than Ozzie and almost as many gold gloves.
Classic cases of writers, who never or couldn’t play, holding the power of who gets in or not, and if there was a player who didn’t get along with the writers he was guaranteed not to get in.
Great case for Tiant and glad you have him on there. Dwight Evans was an elite right fielder, one of the best of all time. Great list

Evan's was lifetime. 272 hitter with 3 All Star appearances in 20 yrs, and no MVP'S. Not HOF numbers. I'm a huge Dewey fan, but hes not HOF
Oral Hershiser 100% deserves to be in. He is the player that got me into baseball when I was 8 years old.
Hershieser has one of those rare feats that with all his other numbers and awards should , imo, easily push him across the finish line for the hof, he had one of those dominating post seasons where he led his team to a world series victory. Slam dunk. Also Jim Edmonds was an elite player for most of his career and one of the top center fielders of his era , he should be in too.
Crime Dog and Griffey Jr were my two favorite players growing up.
David Cone, has a Cy Young and a perfect game, that combo should kinda just bypass the vote.
I think one of the biggest names that your list is missing is Lefty O'Doul. 5th all time for Career batting average .349 .413 on base (32nd all time) and .532 slg (50th all time) ops .945 (27th). Sure it was only an 11 year career, but you know what else he did? He introduced baseball to Japan. The Tokyo Giants are named such because Lefty last played for the New York Giants. No Lefty and we don't have Nomo, Ichiro, or Ohtani
Fred McGriff, great call, retired with the same amount of Homers as Lou Gerhig. Played during the roid era but his skinny frame it was evident he definitely didnt need that. His lanky build and sweet swing was a rhing if beauty

I think you could make a great argument for George Foster to be in the HOF. The 1977 season he had was ridiculous, hitting 52 homers and driving in 149, winning the MVP. Really important part of the big red machine.
tiant also started his career in the mexican leagues--played a long time there before the MLB

I've been emailing numerous writers over the years saying Tommy John belongs there as I did for Jack Morris & Jim Kaat until they got in. Munson definetly needs to get in. He was the backbone of the great 70s Yankee teams. If Belle had his father's personality he would have gotten in. I heard his dad was a well liked coach years ago. Seems numerous players such as Cone aren't in because they had short stints with several teams. Noticed also that some players who spent a good portion of their careers playing for a Canadian or Florida teams teams get overlooked.
Sorry man, but all of those guys fell off the ballot years, if not decades, ago. Emailing writers won’t do you any good because they can’t vote for them anymore.
I must disagree on your comment regarding Munson being a Hall Of Famer. True, he was on the same line as Bench & Fisk during the '70's, however, he didn't play long enough to be inducted. The only player who played fewer seasons & was inducted was old time pitcher Addie Joss, who put up numbers that stand to this day.

Diehard Cub fan here, Mark Grace. Most hits in the 90's, consistently hit above .300, All Star and Solid Glove at 1st.
Don't forget, it was Grace who started that BIG comeback for the Diamondbacks in the 2001 world series. Grace got MORE hits and Doubles in the 90's.
one manager i believe should be in the hof is former pirates manager Danny Murtaugh he won two world series both against hall of fame managers weaver and stengal. his teams owned the nl east and he took his team to the post season almost every year. murtaugh belongs in the hof.

Great show hummer!!!! Highly recommed!! I've been in despair again on account of the "extinct" centerfielder. Going the way of the knuckleballer, like he's an anomally, A mysterious extinct prehistoric ceature from lore. If Willie Mays were a young prospect today, he'd be forced to gain 25 pounds and play right field, he'd never steal, bunt, tag when dangerous. It would seem having five tools leads to injuries, so this player gets avoided in favor of big homer hitting thugs with far less D and OBP like its a home run derby now, not the game I played..

Wainwright may be in the list one day, those injuries he had each time he had a 20 win season really did a number to what his stats could have been. Even then a case can be made especially if he gets past 200 wins.
Albert Belle was the most fearsome hitter of his time. He more than deserves to be in the hall. I was not sold on Hershiser but you convinced me.
One point that angers me is the writers will use the idea that Belle had a short career against him, but then somehow count longevity against a player like Tommy John saying oh he just accumulated stats. ridiculous.

Fernando Valenzuela should get in. He had a great career. 2 rings, 1 CY young, ROY,, no-hitter, 6 all star games, 200 wins and perhaps most importantly, paving the way for Hispanic players

Haven’t seen all three videos but am going to take a shot in the dark; Pitcher Mike Marshall is one that I believe should be in the HOF.

Bill Dahlen: 20 year career before WW1
Graig Nettles: Advanced Statistics Darling, and at a position in need of more representation in Cooperstown.
Ken Boyer: For example! This guy is an 11 time all star, 5 time gold Glover, and won an MVP, yet he has no plaque? What’s the BBWAA’s beef with 3rd Baseman? Him, Sal Bando, Graig Nettles, Dick Allen, and Buddy Bell are all huge snubs, and all at the same position!
Dave Steib: He is both the best starting pitcher of the 80s, and the single greatest Blue Jay in franchise history, yet he’s not in the Hall!
Bobby Abreu: I will die fighting to get him in, I don’t care. Nearly batted for a career .300 .400 .500 during the Steroid Era while being clean. He’s 20th on the all time walk list and also stole 400 bags. Hall of Famer, without question.
3B is the most under-represented fielding position in Cooperstown by a country mile. IIRC, Mike Schmitt was only the tenth 3B elected, and his career came after all those guys you mentioned.

Beltran is a top 10 post season performer as well...everyday player not including pitchers...
Your knowledge and research are admirable . My issue is that baseball's HoF is exclusive and that's what makes it special . Plus you're on a third top 10 snubbed list so in truth it's now a top 30 list . Will it eventually be a top 50?
Carlos Beltran was one of my favorite players to watch growing up. His career is definitely HOF worthy. It's a shame what he was involved in though. I was honestly about to go on a rant about you defending Beltran until you mentioned the part where everyone was doing it and this was in his final season of his MLB career. And the mere fact that Cora and Hinch still have a job is saying something about "consistency".
For David Cone, aside from all the stats you mentioned, he was one of the true big game pitchers in the playoffs. There is no denying it.
Appreciate you giving respect to Orel Hershiser. It's a shame that his run of pitching dominance didn't last long due to injuries and lack of run support in LA.
How Carlos Delgado made only 2 All star teams was surprising.
You hit the nail on the head for Thurman Munson. His HR numbers aren't great, but he was the main force in the Yankees' 70s titles.
And Dwight Evans, 3x All Star, 8x Gold Glove award. People today quickly forget the cannon of an arm he had in right field. 385 home runs, nearly 2,500 hits, and his longevity was highly impressive.
What's crazy is how only the Puerto Rican and Hispanic players got introuble for the Astros cheating and the American players didn't get disciplined at all,Belrtan was the the person they blamed he wasn't even there long enough....He fasho is a hall of Fame players but what's the hall with out the best players?
@jasonrodriguez8569 he brought the system from a previous team and expanded on it. Astros had no system until Beltran arrived. But if it really helped so much why are there away numbers better?
As an Astros and Beltran fan, I say it is so much worse that he was the veteran on that team. Veterans are there to make sure stuff like that didn’t happen, not to take part of it, much less be a ringleader. I can’t support him getting in.
Let’s keep in mind Beltran wasn’t just involved in the cheating scandal. He was the one who started it here in Houston. He brought it from New York. He was adamant about using the system. So really in all actuality, he was probably cheating for many years seeing that the Yankees were doing it and he brought that system here.

the problem with belle isn't his numbers it's his attitude he was a cancer on every team he was on that's why he isn't in.

How in the world is Orel not in the Hall? He was dominant, and I mean dominant for at least a decade. He broke the scoreless inning streak, a record that was thought unbreakable at the time. Probably because he is an outspoken Christian. Jack Morris isn't even in the same category as Hershiser.

My brother...we're not gonna see eye to eye on Beltran (or Altuve or Bregman or my own beloved Blue Jay George Springer). Anyone who intentionally cheats the game (I DO NOT give a damn if it's always been part of the game, it's STILL cheating, and "cheating is cheating, just like, cheating is cheating"), DOES NOT deserve enshrinement with the immortals. Altuve is top 50 all-time in my book, I hope to God he never gets in.
I hope the 46% who voted for Beltran decide have a change of heart, and decide to vote for MLB players, not MLB traitors.

Jack Glasscock looks like Dr Phil with hair. You should have known that after Slim Sallee didn't make the Hall of Fame because he was only a reliever in his final season, he was a starter for the rest of his long career

Dwight Evans was really, really good. I didn't personally see him play, as I only started watching baseball in 1995. I don't think he was on the team then. Eight Gold Gloves and 2400 hits? If Rolen got in with only around 2000 hits and also 8 Gold Gloves (albeit at a different position), then Evans should have at least had his time on the ballot!
A lot of people have different opinions on Evans (don't call him Dewey, he hated it.) I grew up watching him in Boston during his prime. He was a very good player, with a great throwing arm, but not A Great One. Guys that played on the same team as him- Rice, Yaz, Fisk & even Perez were Superstars. I'd rank Evans on the same scale as Former teammate as Fred Lynn.
@@marcstevens8576 Sure, he wasn't as good as Yaz, Rice, or Fisk. I didn't grow up watching them. I grew up watching Mo and Nomar, then Ortiz and Manny. So, I never saw him play. But his stats are good, but not as good as the others you named.
It's a crime that Munson is not in the Hall. I did a video called Catcher X for the Hall that compared an unnamed catcher (Munson) to a player that I think will go right in to the Hall (Buster Posey). Very similar careers but munson was a bit better including number of games caught (for those thinking he didn't play long enough). Stop the madness I say!

Well all I can say about the HOF nominators is that it took them FOREVER to realize the contributions of Gill Hodges both as a player with some of the greatest Dodger teams of the 1950's but the guy who took the prior worst franchise in baseball to the World Series Championship . So I don't give then a lot of credit for their picks.

...gotta say, I was really into baseball in the seventies and eighties, and I was shocked to see Munson's name on the list. I just assumed he was in the Hall...
Beltran finished in top ten in MVP voting exactly twice in his 20-year career. Never a dominant player. Not a Hall of Famer despite having a long career, big career numbers, and being an all-around player above average in all aspects of the game. A great inaugural inductee in the Hall of Very Good.

Another outstanding video I will say that Dewey Evans was the best right fielder I ever saw play he was a Mainstay and consistent force in that Red Sox team he also had the best arm I ever saw and no I didn't get to see Roberto Clemente live because I wasn't alive myself. Albert Belle was a beast among men if there was anybody I would be a little hesitant to pitch inside to it would be that guy. And my final remark has to do with Carlos Beltran I coached baseball for many years and starting at age 7 and 8 in Little League I made my players learn how to steal signs while on second base from the catcher they had to give location to the batter by a series of intricate signs such as pointing to the outside part LOL I hope that doesn't keep me out of the Hall of Fame

@@bizfix11 it took him a few years to get going. The 2nd half of his career he was truly a hall of famer. Remember, it took Koufax 6 years to get his stuff down and we all know what happened to him.
There are only 3 players in the Hall of Fame with 3 or less All Star appearances. 2 are pitchers (Blyleven and Jenkins). Dewey only got 5% of the vote....its not even remotely close that he deserves to be in

Career .988 fielding percentage with a good amount played in CF.
Multiple WS rings.
Longevity wise he was durable and dependable, making every team he was a part of better with his presence.
Not saying he was a super star and it is unbelievable he is not in the Hall, but cmon at the very least his stats deserve a look.
Glad to see Dewey getting some love! I could not agree more, he is a HUGE snub. And from watching this, I never realized how deserving Carlos Delgado is for the Hall. What a shame these two aren't in.

My list( as you can see I grew up in the late 60's and 1970's) , Tommy John , Lou Whittaker, Dwight Evan's, Dave Stieb, Ron Guidry, and Don Mattingly. I'd also like a to see Joe Jackson and Pete Rose. Thank you for the list of 19th century ballplayers I will now study. ( hopefully Mark Buerle and Paul Konerko 1 day). But others are deserving 1st.

There were NO guys playing in the PED era that didn't use PEDS. EVERYONE USED them cause if you didn't you couldn't compete. Just because a lot of guys didn't have to take the brunt of the PED blame for that era( BONDS SOSA MAC CLEMENS SHEFFIELD BELLE ect ect ) don't mean they wasn't useing. NOBODY will ever convince me Ricky Henderson Robbie Alomar Ivan Rod Barry Larkin were not on roids yet they got in and we know BIG POOPIE David Ortiz was on the Michell report list yet got in 1st ballot. If David Cone is HOF caliber well then so is Fernando Valenzuela. There will never be another fernandomania. Growing up a kid in the 80s in Los Angeles Fernandomania took the city bye storm. I agree he doesn't have 300 wins l believe he has 179 but the impact he made to the game of baseball and to the city will never be matched especially after the Dodgers finally beat those dam Yankees in 1981 after loosing back to back in 1977 and 1978 to the Yanks without him and not to mention not only did the Dodgers beat the Yankees in 1981 but Fernando won the CY young award and rookie of the year he had career 2074 strikeouts 1 Gold Glove award, , 2 Silver Slugger awards and 7 all star appearances.
Re Beltran, McGriff, Evans, & Rolen (& others to come), defense gets short-shrift. That one player can improve the whole pitching staff, & sometimes alter the opponents' play (& morale) , should count for more.
& though a NYY fan, Dwight Evans was one of my favorite players when I was a kid, for the reasons you mention. . :)
Like Mark Belanger. He was part of the reason the Brooks could make those great plays behind third. Mark went into the hole as well as anyone.
Cone was dominant for his era. Murphy an all time snub for me personally

Saw Albert Belle play n he should be in. Same amount of seasons as Kirby Puckett! I saw Munson play numerous times at the Stadium n he was the spark plug for the Yanks. He was a leader. Dwight Evans definitely should be in.
Very happy to see Belle on that list. At this point it is very easy for me to judge with one question, would I take them over Harold Baines? Yes to everyone so far.
No Dave Stieb? I'd argue Stieb was better than Herscheiser and obviously better than other pitchers in the HOF (Morris, for starters). He was punished by playing in Toronto, more or less.
I'd even say he has a better case than Cone. (And FWIW, yes, I thought this BEFORE the Secret Base video series)
David Cone had a PERFECT game too!
Cone won the Cy yong in 1994 he was traded from the Mets to the Blue Jays in 1992 stretch run.

I think you could make an argument for pitcher Denny Martinez too, but he’s an iffy one. I still think he should get in too, but just barely…
Carlos Delgado should be in hopefully soon, might make a case for Dave Steib as well.
I am moving close to Cooperstown soon. I went to visit the baseball hall of fame and noticed many items and stats they have for Fernando Valenzuela. I remember in the ‘80s he was a huge star. Yet he’s not in the hall of fame. They certainly love him, but not enshrined. For his run as a Dodger I think he should be in just like Orel Hershiser. What do you guys think? I know once he left L. A., he wasn’t the same. I myself stopped watching baseball in the ‘90s as I became a hockey fan after that and focused on that, but I remember him being huge in baseball and him not being in baffles me.

I don't even know how to feel about this anymore. Thrilled for the Sixers depth of contributions and defensive effort overall of course, but most of that is due to the unexpected nature of it. But, I feel like we are looking at Billy Wagner.
Need a save in May against the Nationals? He's your guy. Need him in the clutch against any type of opponent intensity in the playoffs? Grade incomplete due to injuries or back breaking HRs by Craig Biggio in Sept....then, as a Met, back breaking blown saves against the Phils.
We are at the spoiled part of Jo's career where these performances against garbage defenses are expected now.
Until a game like this happens in the playoffs against Boston, golf claps. I think I speak for many fans at this point where until we see a healthy performance like this against more intense defensive competition in May, it is like watching the same movie again. It's a tough spot to be in as a fan and as a player. You want your kid(s) to fully enjoy the moment, but you as an adult......rough.
