- In 2019, the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol along with the U.S. Secret Service have adopted the Glock Model 47, Model 19 and Model 26 as their issued Sidearm. Now the Glock Model 47 is available to the Public. We're going to look into the reasons and the advantages of this system. Thanks to Glock for Sending the Model 47. #Glock47 #Glock #Glockreview

For me, a full-sized Glock 9mm should be the 17. However, I think CBP did this to ease the armory's job in maintaining pistols, changing out configurations for agents, and ordering parts. Smart.
The G17 and the G26 are two of my favorites. For me those two are a very nice combo.
This is the first video I recall that explains the interchangeability issue. Now this gun makes a lot more sense.
Thanks William!
Yeah, I’ve only seen a couple mention it.
It makes no sense whatsoever to change anything.
Glocks are still solid and affordable. The ak47 of the pistol world.
Nah the quality has degraded some, more jam issues with some models & the finish wears off so fast with the gen 5 models.
Never a jam or finish issues on any of my Glocks, and I have 20...all are Gen 3s and 4s. Some 20 years old and I don't baby them. I use to shoot competitively.
As a guy who never was a Glock boy I still have a 19 and 20….., sad but true! It is what it is Glock is solid and for the most part dependable, can’t say I’m a super fan but I they are good!
Good analogy
Can literally say the same thing about a dozen other pistols most with better triggers , optics mounts and prices
What Glock prioritizes seem to make it a hand gun designed for large institutions: simple manual of arms because you can't count on everyone being well trained, requires little and easy maintenance because you can't count on most people taking good care it, parts compatibility to keep the armorer happy, and a price point to keep the bean counters happy. Still a good handgun for a civilian, but enthusiasts will often prioritize things like style, variety, innovation and have custom needs for custom circumstances, and don't mind spending a little more money to get those things, all of which run counter to institutional priorities.
I mean it's all just pistols Lmao.
What makes a Glock Easier to use than say S&W M&P or Beretta APX or Idk Masada or CZ or Canik?
Don't get me wrong I love Glocks but they aren't that special
@@pharaongaming8617I have to disagree personally. I own the other brands also and I personally feel the Glocks are just made better internally. Yes blocky to some smaller hands. Not as catchy to the eye for some (I love their look). But out of all my guns I primarily trust my life to my Glocks. Call me a fanboy but they work better than most and are more reliable with ammos etc. Some of the more so called expensive guns that look cooler (in some peoples opinions not mine) can’t even handle certain ammos reliably. So again, I trust Glock from almost 25yrs experience with them now
As someone who owns a G19/5, but didn’t have a 17 or a 45, the 47 was a no brainier!
No 17? Seriously? It's just not right man..lol. whether it is needed or not, it's a must have. I like mine and I am glad I bought it. I like my STK100 as well. It's the reason I bought the 17.
How you gonna get the 17L or 34? You have closed the gates to Glockhalla until you do
I find myself watching reviews/comparison videos when I'm not even in the market.
Thanks Sootch!
My Glock 19 gen 3 saved my life, I will never pack any other gun.
I'm definitely picking one up this year. Don't need it, but don't really care.
Great to see the G26 mentioned.... in a world of sig 365 fan people...great to see the OG mentioned. The G26 & G27 are highly under-rated
I fully agree. Will never let loose of the G26 and I’m eventually going to purchase a G27.
Totally agree . I still rotate the Glock 27 when I feel like CCW 40 caliber. It's just so easy to conceal and handles like a larger gun.
I bought gen 5 27 cuz I love them so much I also bought the 47 so…
As usual you lay it all out for us. You’re my go to review.
Used to have a gaggle of Glocks, every model except for the 45 GAP.
They are great pistols and just work. Holsters and accessories all over the place.
I now just have a 19X. Not that I hate Glock because I don't, just too many models now and confusing when you sit down and try to figure it out.
Great video Sootch.
Thanks Mike!
Mike, I envy your discipline! I just can't get enough of Glock's, and I have a slew of them, and I want more.
As a young 20ish year old gun owner, this was awesome for me. I already had my glock 19 and 43x. I was in between of getting a 45 or a 47, but effectively, getting the 47 paired with the 19 is the way to go because I can configure a "45" if I want to. I think this is great for someone that is just getting into firearms.. I can see long time glock owners not really caring tbh though.
I'm not a Glock super fan boy. Not at all. I have 4 G19 guns (one Gen4 and three police trade in Gen3 I bought due to the sweet low price and great condition) and 1 G43. I found out I shoot the G19 very well. I bought the Gen4 G19 because it was green and only fired less than 500 rounds AND it fit my hand perfectly. I used it and WOW. That was a while back. I felt no reason to change. No problems. Rock solid reliable. For me, outstanding accuracy. Growing up, I had access to all manner of crappy handguns (a poor kid that had poor friends). The military taught me to master the 1911 and later the M9. I love the 1911 and have several. I carry the Glocks. I upgraded them with XS Big Dot night sights (love those). The G17, not a fan, or the G21, same. I had those two and sold them to my son. He is larger and loves them. If YOU love a gun, get it. If you like having one of each of a manufacturer's line, get them. If you hate Glocks, man, go shopping. There are a ton of excellent guns out there these days. Find something that pleases you. Life is short, go enjoy it. Stay safe Patriots.
"I'm not a glock super fan boy." But proceeds to explain how many glocks they have and why it's great 🙄
Interesting to hear about this Glock (my central European gun of choice is CZ). Thanks for this great review.
Great vid, you explained it way better than anyone else I’ve seen, and I’ve been wondering. Thinking of getting a G47 slide for my G45 frame. Can you please do a vid swapping out the parts and seeing how they feel and run all swapped out both ways? Thanks, great work as always.
Very nice review. Our agency just went to the 47, awaiting delivery. Glock told me when we were looking for a new duty pistol that the 47 was going to replace the 17.
I went the PSA Dagger route before Glock released the G47. Got a PSA Dagger "Fullsize S" frame (akin to a G45 frame), then got a Dagger "Compact X" slide which has the RMR optic cut (akin to the G47 slide). Essentially a G47 for less than 4 Benjamins.
Since the Dagger uses a MIM striker, order a spare, or if an aftermarket company offers a machined one, buy it. MIM strikers have a life expectancy around 5K rounds.
@@5jjt Copy. Thanks for the tip. I actually have various spare parts for my Daggers and Glocks. 👍
19X my favorite 9mm and the Glock 30 my favorite 45 ACP. Love them all but some just stand out to me
I've had the Glock 30 since 2005. Next to my 1911, it's the most accurate handgun I own.
I had a feeling they were going to try something like that when they worked out the 43X and 48 slides and frames mix-and-match. Now think about this… What if they made it so that the 47, 19, and 26 frames all could accept the same slides? Perhaps they would make the dust covers interchangeable so that you pick the one you need. That would literally give you, what, nine different combinations for three pistols purchased? Talk about a whole new definition of modularity. And you would still have the magazine interchangeability on top of all that. Holy connoli! And these would not go off on their own or go off when dropped. 😂
Glocks... there really is a piece of tupperware for EVERYONE! :-) Sincerely, a Glock owner.
Gimmicks like Tupperware , burp them for added freshness nonsense .
Not for me. They are overpriced with crap plastic sights, sub par triggers and capacity. They offer nothing for me.
@@luckymanham302if you ran them side by side with different ammos for years you would change your mind. But us that know, simply know.
Sootch always with the great reviews!
Thanks Brother!
@@sootch00 ~~~ Always chief!
M&P 9 2.0 has done this for some time. With the 4.25" & 5" slides. They share the same recoil spring assemblies.
The M&P line has gotten so much better over the years. I hope they get the attention they deserve.
Cool, and I am a Glocktard, but... I don't see spending another $600 for this G47. I have 26s, 17s, a 34 and a 19...

I put a set of Wilson Combat sights on mine and it’s a real good shooter.. carry it IWB all the time
Good video. I just got the Glock 47 about a month ago and I really enjoy it so far. I have a gen 3 Glock 19, and that is still my favorite Glock. It's probably because I'm so use to shooting and carrying it
Great video as usual. Thanks for breaking it down with its specs. I do love me a glock. But this 47 I think I'm going to sit this one out.
The US has a border patrol? Lol😂
Must be helping illegals across.
Border watch...sit and watch, with their hands tied behind their backs, watching illegals and drugs pour across the border.
LOL!

The only thing I see Glock needs to do is make a Gen 5 357sig longslide
Great review and great explanation of the G47. As a side note I agree that the G45/19X is the perfect Glock. I have them both and there is something about the balance and shootability of them compared to the others.
Hoping your 45 is an MOS?
@@jeremyk_541 No, unfortunately it isn't
I love the 19x
I have used the gen 5 : 17, 19,& 26... + 43x after a couple yrs , traded 17 & 26 for S&W 38 spl snubbies for pocket. Use my 19 at work.
Why not just buy a plain g19? It’s a perfectly fine and functional tool.
Thank you Don, great video 👍
The Glock 45 is my agency gun and I absolutely love it and the Glock 17 was the duty gun from my other agency that I retired from, it never failed and it saved lives.
Nice review. Thank you.
I am happy with my gen 3’s.
Thanks John! Gen 3 Glocks are great handguns
I like all of the generation of Glocks. I’ll take a Gen. 3 Glock any day!
Good video! I hope you do a review on the Springfield Armory AR9. Looks like a good 9mmm carbine.
The only reason why i bought the 47 is because i was a day late and a dollor short for the 17 Gen 5 MOS.
In the Border Patrol, the individual agents were given a choice between the G47 and the G19 regardless of their assignment. There was no distinction made between agents on "tactical" teams and "uniformed" agents. I carried a 47 and was not on SRT/BORTAC or any other "high speed/low drag" unit. Also, CBP stands for Customs and Border Protection, not Customs and Border Patrol. I know that last is a niggling point, but it's always been something that's bugged me in pieces like this one.
When I was in the mean green we were carrying Beretta 96D’s with a very spicy .40 loading from Federal. Nice to see the BP getting a decent sidearm.
The 96D was my first weapon in the BP as well. We traded them in for H&K P2000s after I'd been in about five years. Now that was a piece of crap weapon, imo. The Glocks are a massive improvement. @@kevinuspsa9353
This is my first Glock and I love it. I think it’s a great place to start for people wanting their first Glock. I own a Canik and a Smith & Wesson as well. However, I finally got this because the aftermarket and OEM options are endless and much cheaper while still having quality options.
Best explanation yet!! Thanks!!!
Thanks Ken!
Hey, very nice and simple evaluation!
Thanks Mario!
one of the cool ideas is with just a little more metal... you can get a G34 slide to fit also... and possibly .40 cal stuff... and... and...
Glock should introduce a new naming system for all of their pistols
It's a bit confusing indeed.
It's GLOCK's system which is easy to understand.
Very good review.
I was issued a glock 45 at my departmdnt and it was presentdd to me shen i retired. I found it to be a poorly made light pistol compared to my glock 26 i bought some 15 years ago. It still goes bang but lots of muzzle flip on a 9mm and some pronlems with not fully cycling.
What is great about Glock is the variety. What is not great is the necessity of remembering the differences in the different models.
Hello scotch!! Love your videos. I own a Glock 45. Can you do a review of a Smith and wesson M&p 2.0 45 acp either full size or compact? Thanks
Scooth does great reviews when has something to review😎
Thanks Willie
OK, 19x and G45. Now I know what to get. Thanks !
Good review! Several years ago, my Border Patrol neighbor let me shoot his issued G47, and I have wanted one ever since. It's time to "pull the trigger"!
Repeat after me Sootch, "Glock Performance Trigger".
I understand that different barrel lengths and slide weights require different unlocking geometry. What I don't understand is - since camming is controlled by a removable block - why there isn't a block to run the 17 slide on a 19 or vice-versa.
Some people have tried to explain it as Glock trying to force people to buy two separate pistols, but that doesn't explain why the [huge] Glock aftermarket hasn't done it.
Sold!!!! I have 2 G45s and a G19. I’m all about having extra parts in whole. My buddies tease me about the number of the same guns I have, but I have a boat load of spare parts to just drop in and rock n roll
The funny thing is the S&W M&Ps have been able to do this with all their models since day one. Every gen 1 M&P is compatible with every other gen 1. With the 2.0 every other double stack 2.0 is compatible with every other double stock except the newly introduced competitor (they changed the sear engagement in it).
Glock has been way behind for decades lol
I’ve been holding out on gettin a tungsten guide rod for mine.. after this video I’ll just order a rod and spring setup for the 19 and start there. What poundage spring would you suggest for the longer slide of the 47?
To all my fellow pro 2a friends. Please enjoy your freedoms to own a fine looking firearm. You see, I unfortunately live in another country that doesn’t believe in the right to defend yourself out of your home environment. Our local government believes that only criminals should carry guns so that way, they are not in danger of being harmed by a potential victim. They believe that any law abiding citizen who wants to have a right to defend themselves is just a gun happy gun nut who can’t wait for the opportunity to kill somebody. So please enjoy your hard earned freedom! Because unfortunately for me and my fellow Americans living in Commiforniastan, we will never see any Glocks other than Gen 3, unless you are law enforcement. Because they are highly trained for such an advanced piece of equipment that the rest of us have absolutely no idea how to manipulate I guess 🤷♂️.
Out of my cold dead fingers....in a hot pile of brass.
Time to move then. I am sure that's beating a dead horse, but it's the truth. I understand a career, family or other matters get in the way, but what is the priority to you? Many people have fled CA for that reason alone. It's a shame because it is a beautiful state....just not the politics.
Go harvest those ballots and help people fill them out, properly. And go volunteer at the polling center to make sure the right candidate wins.
Come to America, the southern border I wide open! Border agents can't use these pistols against invaders. You're welcome by Americans who love America!
good video as always
Glock it remains special
Thanks Stef!
The best $300 gun for $500🙌🏽
Capitalism 🙌🏻
You forgot to mention the internal revenue service is also equipped with the same guns.😮
Note - Its "US Customs and Border Protection" (Not US Customs and Border Patrol) and "US Border Patrol." (CBP is parent agency over USBP) In addition, this firearm was originally developed only for the US Border Patrol, then was adopted by CBP and USSS by jumping on the USBP contract after deployment. ALSO - Agents of the USBP can chose either the 47 or 19 for uniformed duty use.
Love your vids. Will you be doing a review on the G19X MOS
It's a small thing, but the stepped dust-cover makes it one of the most attractive Glocks off the rip. I'm biased because the P226 is my first love and it's probably as close as Glock can get to that aesthetic.
I’m sticking with gen5 Glock 22 for the win. I like the extra (((OOMPF))) with the harder hitting .40.
Good info, love glocks, now a I need a 47, thanks
I’m with you, the G45 is just my favorite Glock. I own 19, 47 as well but the G45 is just the sweet spot. Bonus points if you use a Red Dot Optic because then the G45 becomes an even more obvious choice over G47.
You’ll notice the 45 returns to target smoother despite it being a more aggressive recoil. This contributes to a nice snap and quick return, very fun to run.
I just wonder why the 47 is before the 48 ? Very interesting they had the patient for it before they released the 48 those years ago
I agree on the G45 being the best shooting Glock. I think it’s the best Glock they’ve made.
My question is, if I only have a G34 can I still use the 47 slide on the regular large frame?
Good job Sir
You can also put g19 slide on a g26 with a little dust cover adapter
Glock should offer 3 mags of 12 rounds with the 43 x .
Awesome glock 47 mos pistol thanks for sharing sootch00
Because at this point all I have is G19, would be a great addition to my arsenal.
Have several Glocks, most over 20 years old and never had one problem with them. But I've never had issues with any of my Sigs either.
That’s the thing….there’s many reliable pistol brands. And Glock pistols are absolutely hideous, terrible grip angles, average triggers, plastic sights, and so many inferior components. I’ll never say that they aren’t reliable, but I’ll NEVER own one. There’s so many other better options that I actually enjoy looking at and fondling.
@@cliffordmontana4562I bought a Gen5 G17 recently, and it came with back straps to change out. I am totally with you on the grip angle. I also have a STK100 and I like the feel and grip of it a lot as well. I'm the type of guy that will buy different guns and try them to see what works for me. I have to say that for the $349 brand new price I paid for the STK100, I absolutely can't complain. Even Sootch like the gun for what it is. It's a great budget pistol that works and hasn't FTF or FTE. My wife loved the G26 Gen4 and I bought it for her. She always did like the grip of a Glock.
Is there a chance you could do a video highlighting gun modification? Because I have an idea that just might work out
One of many reasons I’ve always appreciated your videos. You’re probably one of a few out of a hundred that actually addressed the recoil impulse of the 47. Main reason I made the 45 my go to is because of that impulse. I hate the sluggish 17, compared. I did assume it would be a similar feel to the 45, but nice to hear. I’m grabbing a couple of em.
I agree Glock is pure Perfection
I've owned several pistols. Carried a duty pistol for 20 years between military and law enforcement service. Glock, far and away has been the best in terms of reliability, durability, accuracy, ergonomics, and just about everything else you can imagine. Is it the best pistol ever? I dont know, but it's damn good. That's for sure.
My favorite duty pistol was a SIG 220. Loved that gun, but I understand later models had problems. My slide read “Made in W. Germany.”
Glock 23 Gen 4 used to be my fav Glock along with G 19. They are still very reliable gun … but after shooting Walther PDP and Sig 365 series, Glock no longer feels superior anymore. Glock really needs to up their game with the time
how does the gen 4 shoot compared to the gen 5 23?
If it ain't broke don't fix it
@@cluckbent6466 less felt recoil due to re-designed heavier slide but not a deal breaker for me. If I had to pick as a new 40 cal shooter, I would pick gen 5.
I thought about buying 1. I had a 17 for a few years & have many 17 rd mags & more. I traded for a Gen 5 G-19. So as I pondered it, I bought just a new Factory G-45 Lower. So, 19 slide can go on the G-45 frame. Full size or smaller, got 2 guns, only use 1 slide. $235 for a complete lower.
If you had to choose between the 19X and 47 which would grab first in a HD situation?
Hey Don, great video. The only Glock I own at the moment is the two tone (silver and black) G48. For carry it is an excellent weight and size and its one of my EDC in rotation. I just wish Glock made 15 round magazines for it instead of go to the Shield Arms after market 15 round magazines (heard mixed reviews of those). I am still a .40 S&W fan though lol.
PSA just released the Micro Dagger magazines, which are polymer 15 round magazines that fit the 43X/48. The reviews have been good so far, so I expect them to be out of stock for months while they manufacture hundreds of thousands of them, but you should look into them. Shield Arms mags have always been totally unreliable garbage.
@@HarryManback0 thanks for the heads up! I wasn't aware of these PSA mags and will check them out.
@@RoadKing-ky2bsAbsolutely, I'm looking forward to picking up a few of those for my G48 also.
@@RoadKing-ky2bs PSA Magazines are also nice because you don’t need to swap magazine releases to a metal one since where the magazine catches on the PSA magazines is polymer
You tax dollars at work. An ingenious solution to a non existent problem.
Do you have a link for that mag loader? I'd like to save my thumbs too.
I have multiple Glock 45s which is my favorite Glock but I’m debating about the Glock 47 and getting a gen 5 Glock 17
I use a Glock 47 for duty (you can guess where). It's really good. It got my wife into Glocks. It's a bastard Glock in a good way. But it's good. Purists hate it. Let them hate. It's good. Better than a G17, for sure when it comes to features. Pair it with Trijicons and you're in business..
Thank you.
If they would only make a gun that looked better in the hand, better trigger and steel night sights out of the box.
They want to keep the production costs below $75, they love that 3-400% profit margin, don't ya know.
I’d rather own a Walther PDP

G47 + G19 to make a G45 or G49 whenever you want
2:11 Your laugh made me laugh! ;)
Interesting. Seems to me they should just have the G26 for concealed carry and a G17 for open carry. Never much liked the G19 as it is just a chopped G17 without a recontoured grip so my hand feels like it is slipping off the bottom (not a problem with the G26 as the grip was recontoured), is less reliable, and holds fewer rounds. The G19 is the best all rounder if they were only to have one pistol, but why do that when the G26 is substantially easier to conceal and the G17 is a markedly better service pistol? The G17 grip is much better for people with larger hands than the abbreviated G19 grip.
The original Gen 3 variant (and retro P80 which lacks an accessory rail) is better again as it has a cutout on the front of the frame to facilitate the user removing a sticky magazine or a one that is stuck due to a double-feed stoppage. So said cutout should be restored for police use. The Gen3 G17 (and P80), which use a single coil recoil spring, are also more reliable in adverse conditions than later variants that use a double coil recoil spring that is more susceptible to stoppages if sand, dirt or mud gets inside the pistol. For a general issue service pistol the mag catch should be on one side as on the Gen 3 pistols (and P80) so every police officer who might us it knows where all the controls are, so the later variants are less desirable as they allow the mag catch to be reversed, which could prove fatal in some situations.
AAMOI, the US Navy Seals adopted the Gen 3 G19 in 2015 over the Gen 4 variant as it is more reliable in adverse conditions due to the single coil recoil spring and has a mag catch that cannot be reversed and is smaller so less prone to accidental mag dumps. Less is more.

The 47 is replacing the 17. Sometime in the future the 17 will be discontinued. Some are talking about putting the 47 slide on the 19 frame to create a 19L.
Can not beat a Glock period.
😊
Only reason I want a G47 at some point is because I carry a G19 Gen 5. If I decide that I want more capacity and a longer grip, I can take the one of the G47. And then I’ll have a “G19L” and a G45, effectively.
I might wanna buy the G45 ...
I highly recommend it. My favorite Glock.
G45, great shooter. I carried a G17 for decades. A 19 is okay for me, but I like the grip of the 17/45. The G45 feels balanced to me. My favorite Glock to shoot now.
Is this 47 compatible with the Glock 23 as well in terms of slide interchangeability? Because if so that would make this and a 23 a very good combo as the conversion barrels for the 23 caliber going between 40,9mm and 357 and the option of going for full length or compact
