Same thing CO did with Magpul. Back in 2012 with the 15 rd mag restrictions. Days before the law went into effect, Magpul dropped thousands and thousands of free PMags in crates from helicopters at parks in CO as an eff you. Then they moved shop to the more free state of Wyoming. CO loses $80 million per year in tax revenue for being woke.

    •  Před měsícem +6

    • @BAMewsd

It's not that I have a grip issue as my hands aren't that big and fits the lcp max nicely, but a longer barrel just equals better accuracy and higher velocity. Some time ago, I got rid of the Ruger holster and replaced it with a Galco pocket holster model PRO836B major improvement!

The max prints in most pockets of mine, it does not just slip into a pocket holster and disappear. I love how small it is but with my big hands I don't know if I should get this or keep looking for a better option. I need about 2.75 inches for my 3 fingers. I tried to look for grip extensions and I cannot seem to find anything. Any assistance would be appreciated.

The bodyguard trigger is not perfect, but SO MUCH better than the Rugers. I shot it yesterday, and it was accurate, low recoil, and fast. VERY HAPPY with this gun!

I also have the Max (factory trigger) but want to shoot the BG2. While I love the Max’s size and weight, it is tough to grip, snappy to shoot, and the trigger sometimes pinches my finger. Ruger will replace defective mags. I got some from Lanboy's Armory that have the feed lips spread too far about. They gave me a full refund and said Ruger did not want them back. So then I decided to try to pull the lips in tighter. It took about 30 tries to get them in far enough but they work now. Call Ruger to report the problem and ask for a new mag. I dropped a mag on asphalt. It fell about and I lost one part. I called Ruger and said I lost a part due to my own fault thinking they would sell me that part. They sent a new mag. I later figured out how to find the part on their website. I may order it someday if I order any other parts.

Excellent side by side comparison. They both seem to be excellent SA pocket pistols.
Personally, my own preference for small pocket pistols carried with a round in the chamber is that regardless of strike or hammer fire, I prefer them to be DA only for the first shot, and possibly with a thumb safety too. That's based on some knowledge of incidents in which someone has managed to fire their pocket pistol while fumbling a fast pull from their pocket or purse.
We agree, gun owner error, and that every pistol should be drawn only from a holster in a perfect world. Of course the world we are in is not that perfect world and also many people who own small pocket pistols did not get hours and hours of class room instruction and range time before getting the pistol. There is a reason the ultra small pistols are called pocket pistols or purse pistols or even vest pistols. Something to do with they are often carried in pockets. Sometimes barrel up, sometimes barrel down,, depending on the size and looseness of the pocket or purse. Again, in that perfect world nothing else is in that pocket. But again, I have knowledge of times when that rule may have been ignored and pesky house door or car keys entered into the equation.. All of the incidents of that type I am personally aware of involved pocket/vest pistols with single action trigger pulls. I am not personally aware of similar incidents involving pistols with DA only first shot pulls.
I am not sure why both S&W and Ruger ignore that reality and don't offer DA pocket pistols. Some firms do of course, the often copied Walther PPK, the Kahr CW, the Seecamp LWS .380, etc,

I've got an LCP Max, and I can recommend it. It's a very easy gun to conceal, especially with the 10-round mag. The only thing I never liked about it is that for some reason the trigger bites my finger no matter how I grip the gun. (I've read that some others are affected by this.) It's obviously not really a big issue for carrying, but when I'm at the range, I put s small band-aid on my finger or wear a tight-fitting glove.
By the way, I also have an original LCP that I carry when I'm dressed very lightly and/and need total "invisibility" - if you know what I mean.
AND I also have a Sig P365. As you say, another good choice, but slightly larger and heavier. But, of course, 9mm.

Agree with you. I own a LCP Max and like you, swapped out some parts- the trigger, recoil spring, changed the sights to XS brand and put Talon grip tape on the grip. It is 100% reliable, but not a long range session gun to shoot. I will still carry it I like the size of the gun, probably the largest I'd go in a .380 for the pocket. Having said that, I'm still very interested in this new S&W I'm probably going to get one just for fun at the Range. If I do carry it, it would be in a traditional holster i.e. belt holster

@@nebaldeby5369 I carry the Max in the front right pocket, and two spare mags in the left front pocket. Always.
Then I also carry either a J-Frame .38spl or a Charter .44spl (the Boomer model) in a horizontal holster on my belt at the 12 o'clock position. (I have just enough of an old-man belly that my untucked shirt covers it really well. - It is also fairly comfortable and accessible when seated) - I did have to have those two holsters custom made, since none were designed to be worn with the barrel horizontally that I could find)
In the wintertime when my jacket can act as a cover, I replace the revolver selections with a strong side Walther PDP-F (I love the grip size on this) with a spare mag on the weak side.
The LCP is still in my pocket everyday though. It sounds like we put the same parts in the Max's - Mine still has a trigger slap, but it usually does not start hurting until the second magazine. It is pretty accurate now though - keeping everything in a 3x5 card at 5 yards, and in a 5" saucer plate at 7 yards when I really push it for speed.
Hopefully I will find the Smith 2.0 at the show this weekend (for a fair street price!)
I still have the original LCP, and I just saw a sale on one for like $180 at PSA - it was super tempting to buy another one - They make for good reliable stash guns, and at that price, are hard to beat.

The best deep concealment/summer wear .380 is still the original LCP or the LCP II. With the extended mag you get 7+1 shots which is sufficient and the extra rounds in the 2.0 or the MAX just make it heavier than it needs to be. 12+1 is just a little heavy for summer shorts. In the Winter it doesnt matter because you can hide more gun and take a 9mm. If you are wearing jeans or khakis sure, carry the Bodyguard 2.0 or the LCP Max. JMHO

  • @ChrisLoew

Ruger lcp gen 1 has poor trigger. LCP pro has improved trigger and taller more usable sights. LCP2 has wider grip and better sights than gen 1 but not as tall as pro. Ruger LCP Max has twice the capacity and only .25 in taller and replaceable sights with tridium factory front, also locks back on last round. By far the best pocket option. However, LCP has been less reliable with each version and will jam, not lock back, or stovepipe more than original version. I still prefer the max despite this. S&W bodyguard gen 1 performed flawlessly then after 600 rounds started to have same problems as the ruger. ALL other m&p pistols have been more reliable then glocks and my choice for carry. Having a S&W gen 2 with FIGHTING pistol features is a total win given the same relative size as the LCP max. S&W stainless slide and barrel is such a greater choice as my ruger (and Sootch00's) barrel and parts of the slide have already rusted from pocket carry. My M&P9C gen 1 carried for over a decade every day and minimal care or oil seen has had two minor rust spots on the edges and tiny. Simply superior choice and will be my next purchase for the the m&p bodyguard 380. Thanks Sootch00 for this comparison as this is exactly what I wondered after your last video. Thanks for a great side by side review! I’m looking forward to doing my own and comparing results.

The 2.0 is not available yet in the 10 round only version for limited mag capacity states. I'm assuming that will change.

Yes I saw a video with a S&W rep and he said the 10rd complaint version will be releasing soon!

I upgraded the trigger, hammer spring, and guide rod on my lcp max. The smith might be better out of the box now. But that lcp max is just perfect for a pocket holster.

I also did that to my max. The body guard looks nice.

Which trigger upgrade? I’m considering Galloway for my Max.

So nice that S&W curved the trigger guard up to give more finger room on the front strap.

LCP MAX - You do not have to pull the slide back before removing the tab for disassembly .Keep it simple. Saw this in another video. Just pull the pin and move the slide forward.Goes back on in the opposite.

The lower bore axis reminds me of the czp10c which I shoot well even though it’s a 9mm but it’s way bigger. The s&w I’m guessing I’ll shoot better.

I own the trilogy of LCP pistols. The LCP, LCP II and LCP Max are all TOYS compared to the Bodyguard 2.0. The only problem is, it will make you go broke, because you will love shooting the expensive .380 ammo, since it doesn't feel like a rat trap snapping when you fire it.

Now Ruger is going to come out with something better and everyone’s going to regret buying the bodyguard. 🥴😂

Any who've gone to the Max already appreciated the added 4 rounds, 2 more isn't worth the added cost and extended handle length tantamount to a glock 43. They make extended base plates for the 10 rd mags which feel great in grip with gritted texture. The bodyguard looks sweet though and quite a difference on recoil spring, if .380 recoil is an issue.

Hi sootch love your reports as always, you do a great job. I have not had this pistol in hand yet. I also have the Ruger Max and like it for the same reasons you do and I really like the front night sight, you seemed to make the point that the Smith just had an orange dot, but the specs and info I’ve seen indicates there is a tritium insert which would make it a dim light sight also.

I had an lcp II and sold it. Liked the gun a lot but pocket carrying it after 2 summers, it started rusting.... in GA. On the other side, ive had MULTIPLE s&w shields but never a bodyguard. I loved my shields, but they scratched easy and I couldn't pocket carry them.
Just purchased an LCP max to give it one more try. It looks like sootchs barrell is already getting surface rust from the video????

Bore axis on the Bodyguard is fantastic, the extra grip length is a huge plus. When are we gonna see micro-micro red dots for these small guns.

I do not have either one of those. Previously I have had the Ruger Security 9 Compact. After getting the bugs out and it was serviced, now it is reliable. More recently I have purchased the S&W M&P Shield Plus, optics ready. The Shield works better for me, particularly in the grip. I look forward to finishing your comparison, here.
