    Installed a Baker comp and Rekluse clutch with a Barnett billet basket, Hayden tensioner, new Diamond chain. Clutch was stupid noisy and the Baker wouldn't align even without shims, Hayden part showed excessive wear and cracking at 10k. Installed a Darkhorse comp and BDL extra plate clutch and all is happy.

    One thing about a belt drive open primary is its so easy 2 pull the dry clutch plates out and clean them, you can even replace them and clean inside so you dont get bad wear. Wet clutch is nice though just change the primary oil and ride and they work good too.

    That Rekluse clutch is getting rave reviews from what I've seen but at what point do you need to upgrade the basket? In one of your previous videos you showed a 135hp build that the guy had absolutely destroyed the stock basket.

    • @MoonshineHarley
      @MoonshineHarley  Před 4 lety +1

      Depends on the rider mainly. If money wasn't an option we would recommend them on all big bore builds because the aftermarket baskets are super strong and usually never fail. We recommend them for bikes making over 140 foot pounds of torque with a performance clutch.
      If the bike has a stock clutch it usually gives before all the pressure is transferred into the basket which prolongs the life of the basket but you are not getting all your power to the road. Call us if you need more info (Aaron or Jamie that is) 615-274-4170

    What's the cost of these parts, to change out the compensator and the clutch, and basket and maybe replace the primary tensioner with one like yours?
    Do I really need to even have a tensioner? Or can I have a sprocket directly from the engine to the primary chain?
    Compensators seem to be just a wear and replace pert, but it's a 'stock engine,' not a racing bike.

    Why doesn't Harley Davidson's design "experts" hire the techs at S&S to design their engines?
    Maybe then folks won't mind paying the high costs for a bike in the first place.
    Just saying, dropping $20k-35k on a bike only to drop tens of thousands a few years later for all kinds of upgrades (from cam plates, you better oil coolers, better clutch assemblies etc. makes it hard to justify buying a Harley over a foreign bike that will run trouble free over the same period of time.
    And Harley wonders why their sales are slumping. "Buy USA," used to mean quality. That's before all of the soft ass wall street folks got involved when HD went public in the stock market. Now, some rich @$$ snob demands greater profits and gives no $#!+'$ about quality.
    Who changed the "pride element" that once came with buying American? Can we punch him in the face? Asking for a friend 😆

      @@MoonshineHarley If its not tightened down all the way the splines will rip right out, its softer metal then the shaft on purpose so u dont damage the drive shaft.

    wow, so many people asking questions and in return they get crickets. So much for customers service. I think I'll pass on any advise you gave, obviously you are just salesmen shiling the product.
