Nice bike, sounds nice, not obnoxious. I believe when the Valkyrie was introduced, Honda called it a "Muscle Cruiser".
Screw the engine, it has a CUP HOLDER!!!!!
Oscar Muffin hell yes. My insert is yellow for safety. Safety first. Lmfao. So true.
My vtx has one as well. Life saver
Just clip one to ur bars
I have a nylon one in the same spot
Yay!
Mark my words! I will die owning my Valkyrie! I ditched my 6 pipes for the standard pipes and still love it.
10-4 on that I have a 99 interstate 187,000 on her- cobra exhaust , I'm hard of hearing and wear ear plugs, lol
The boxer 6 is a naturally balanced engine. It also fires balanced, meaning, it fires on the left bank then the right bank, then back to the left bank, never more than 1 firing in a row on the same bank. This makes it sound great.
The Valkyrie is a flat 6, not a boxer. In the same way a Ferrari is a flat 12, not a boxer. It sounds totally different.
I have a Valkyrie. Had it 12 years. Before that had Harleys. The Valk beats them hands down for me.
SteeVeeDee sorry to hear about giving up your manhood man that sucks :/
@@dougbauer891 . You'r complete dick, Harley , poser.
Of course it's a Honda ! Best motorcycle made period!
Valkyries we’re MADE in THE USA
Boy that man knows what he is talking about been through it same thing
Shocker ... people have negative comments about the sound (which sounds great by the way).
Leo Burgess cuz it sounds like ass. 🤷🏻♂️ can't fault people for speaking their opinions.
@@godofm3tal1 What ??? Your full of shit .Valkyries sound awesome , and they look awesome and are built to last . And not only that , they handle like a dream on the highway . I should know I own one . It's pretty clear to me that you don't know what you're talking about . Or you are another Harley Snob with a biased attitude towards anything but a Harley .
@@godofm3tal1 My whole point is there are always people throwing negative posts about things that someone else likes or someone's talent (little kid playing guitar, drums, etc.). What's the point? If you like something and I say it is shit, it would likely puts you on the defensive. The old saying, "if you don;t have something nice to say don;t say it at all" holds true most of the time.
That saying implies that people should lose their freedom to speak their mind if it risks offending someone's delicate sensibilities. And i reject that notion.
@@godofm3tal1 No, it doesn't. It means don't be a dick if it isn't necessary.
Listen to the old cbx 6 cylinder
Valkyries are awesome bikes !!!!! Suzuki did make a rotary bike, the RE5 during the mid 70s
Well, Now I want a Valkyrie!
Owned one of these. Looking to get another one.
Actually Honda made internal changes to the motor on the Valkyrie making it even more bullet proof than the GL1500 motor. And then in the following year, incorporated the changes in the GL1500 motor.
What year was the new changes implemented?
Thanks
The F6 Valkyrie is the best bike for the money. Can get one for 3.5-6K $. Awesome bike for the money.
Love the sound down low. Reminds me of a Kenworth. 😅 Love when it revs up too. What a beast.
I just bought a 2000 Valkyrie Tourer in May thanks to your videos. She’s actually my first bike but I love her.
Had a beautiful blue/grey 2000 Interstate with the 6 pipes! Enjoyed it for 15 years. Multiple cross-country trips!
Just picked up a 99 Valkyrie Interstate yesterday, only 20,000 miles on it, went for the first ride today, Amazing bike!
How do you feel about it now, one year later?
That bike has no business sounding that epic!
I've had a Valkyrie for 3 years and IT IS AWESOME! Same pipes. The Valkerie handles better than my 750 Shadow. I was surprised at the handling for that huge a bike. I put 6 velocity stacks on mine that stick up next to the tank a little. Looks great.
My only problem is the brakes. I have a hard time stopping it when I should be parking it for the day.
You had me in the bottom half, not gonna lie.
I think this is my new favorite bike. I ❤️ that flat 6 engine😍😍
Great video on the motorcycle I want next. I don’t care how old they are, Honda hit a major home run with this model. I need a bigger bike for long trips and my 750 ACE needs a big brother to share the garage with, lol.
You're right. That sounds freaking awesome!
I have a black 98' standard and absolutely love it!
Me too
I have a 1997 f6. Also own 4 harleys n a triumph rocket 3. The valkrie sounds better than any one of them. Amazing sound. Gives me goose bumps.
Absolutely love this bike. Someday I will own one Love your videos. Don’t currently own a bike. So I’m living vicariously through others watching them ride LOL
I love the sound of Harleys, I own a road king with nice pipes, but I'm also a sucker for the six cylinder note and v12 note too for that matter, but somehow I just default to the v-twin, it just feels right to me. As for v8 note, well you'd have to be deaf not to like that.
Yep!!
Here's my problem with the Harley sound I grew up loving it but here's the thing they alllllllll sound that way. Yeah I know cams, valves, and single connecting rod, all these things have changed slightly through the years and have caused the sound to be slightly different but let's be honest potato potato potato. It's not a bad sound but it's like well shit everyone and there mother sounds like this. It's like when you see a mustang these days it's just a regular ass car cuz everyone has one it takes away that little bit of specialness it may have had. That's why I've owned three v4s only two vtwins one 6 cylinder, and a single cylinder 2 stroke. Once you've heard open headers on a Yamaha VMAX fire breathing V4 you forget about the potato pretty quick
Craziest things about the V's, is the speed. Lookin at it first timers always misjudge it. Extra huge cruiser, gotta be mediocre at best. Right? Wrong. A tank that flies.
Yeah...I have a 2000 Interstate. She IS fast!!!
Many is the time I wish I still had mine. Do you guys have a new website? I'm having no joy clicking link in box.
Anyone help with good ways to record audio? I bought a gopro 6. I have a bluetooth helmet. Thought I could pair them but don't seem like I can.
Thanks for video have had many bikes presently own newish o15 Honda Valkyrie best bike ever owned
This channel is makin me love Honda though 😆
The old commercial said, follow the leader he's on a honda or you meet the nicest people on a Honda.
cold engine... lets rev the hell out of it!
That's what I thought. I give my 996 at least 2-3 minutes idling before I ever take off and I wait till the temp gauge is almost to full operating temp before twisting it hard. This is the way I have treated every bike, not just the Ducati.
Nice to see you here Bill
Duc Rider there's no need to do that. Just ride it slowly for a few minutes. By leaving it at idle for a few minutes you're putting wear on the engine without increasing miles, so by the time you reach your service intervals you're engine will have additional wear
Billy! What's up eh?
its not a truck, no not need warm before, Just ride it slowly for a few minutes
Jay Leno owns the rune version.I own 3 valkyrie tour models..greatest bike ever made..hands down..
Yeah, I’m joining the party 3 years later…If you ride that thing right there is no way a drink is staying in that cup holder!
LOL!
I agree it sounds like a Porsche when you start pushing it at around 3:45.
Love the engine sound
Yes Norton and Suzuki both made rotary bikes but the aircraft engine you were talking about it a radial engine
Now this is a bike with a great sound
I have to admit, that is a beautiful sound! As you stated, the Valkyrie truly is a legendary bike and it's a damn shame Honda has discontinued them. This is a bike to own as a future collectible. Trust me on this. This is the CBX of the future. Get on elf these while the prices are still low. 10 years from now you I think it's reasonable to assume these will only increase in value. In the meantime, you can enjoy the beautiful melodic sound of that exhaust.
what's that cupholder looking thing on the bars?
Do they seal mens apparel where you bought those shoes...
the Yamaha R1 and fz10 with the crossed planed crank is amazing sounding
I wish you still had it for sale :)
I LOVE THIS BIKE! MY DREAM BIKE!! What a coincidence!
They're somewhat cheap. I'm selling mine for 4000
I own a subaru and never knew that there was a bike with a boxer engine. Hey Porsche, eat your heart out. Love my boxer engine.
Big goldwings have had flat six motors for a long time.
Nice bike. Can't believe how little traffic there is around on this video. Where was it filmed?
Funny stuff mate....Induction on a little Triumph ST3 is addictive!
Dang sounds amazing.
Anybody know what brand of cup holder that is I want one on my bike
love this thing, and love that its already got the cupholder on it... for da big gulps huh
I can only imagine how someone riding this gorgeous motorcycle would twist the throttle to a maximum.
Sounds a lot like my 1995 Magna with the baffles out. Surprised because of the difference in the engines.
The airplane engine that has cylinders going in a circle around the prop is called a "radial" configuration. V-twins are a very abbreviated version of that form factor. That Val is sweet. I would like to own one some day. I had a 1976 GL1000 that I loved dearly until it was taken from me (almost along with my life) by a little old lady running a stop sign. Oh well.... Nice channel. Maybe i can buy a bike off of you one day soon. Stay safe.
Never had/ridden one yet like the look of these better then the new style Valkyrie. Same with the honda st’s like the look of the older styles then the newer for myself
Just may be the best American Bike ever made. This was engineered and built in Marysville, OH essentially by hot rodding a Goldwing and then showing of that great flat six engine by heaping on generous amounts of chrome. It never feels as large as it looks, is very nimble for a large cruiser and soaks up the bumps of the road fantastic. On top of that typical Goldwing reliable. A guy I know is well over 500k miles never getting into the engine and many have several hundred thousand miles. I agree with a fellow below that said sounds more like a Porsche six. Is it the best sounding bike ever - well that is subjective like everything motorcycles, but it is truly unique and will still kick the snot out of most modern stock crusier, bagger, dressers.
American? It’s Japanese I don’t care where it’s built doesn’t make it American.
Doug yea screw Japanese companies that brought jobs TO America! Let’s support American made Harley that keeps sending jobs overseas!

And a Harley is?
3:00 damn where is that town!?? it is so spacy and green! i love it!
HAHA love the shout out Sean! XD I know what your talking about the v2k has barons big n nasty pipes on it and it sounds SICKKKKKKKK
Maybe it should go to the hospital then, or at least see a doctor.
Mark Malasics someone's jelous hm?
Awesome sound and bike : )
What handlebars are those?
Bought a 99 Valkyrie in 2004 and still love it....Cobra pipes sound good (have them on it now) but two brothers pipes sound way better
Sick bike :-)
Very good one. I love Valkyrie. By the way, where is this place you used to test ride? Very nice environment.
Susuki made the RE5 rotary and installed it in their motorcycle in the early to mid 1970's.
I like the beer can holder 👍
I have always wanted a Rune. I may trade some things for a Valkyrie real soon. Not sure of the seat height though with me being 5'4".
I've had a 98 Valkyrie for about 10 years now, and I'll keep it until the day I die. I've never ridden anything else that comes close to how great that bike is.
This is the best sounding bike to cut someone off angrily.
nice bike, love it...
that DOES sound amazing X X X
I'd love it JUST for my neighbors...
Radial piston design (aircraft)...that boxer 6 cyl. sounds like a tweeked small block Chevy.
As a lifelong aviation enthusiast (and pilot) the valkerie sounds NOTHING like a radial. If you take a radial engine, slice off two cylinders...you end up with basically a Harley engine (looks and sounds the same too). The same pop-pop-pop sound. The Valkerie sounds a little like a porsche..also a 6-boxer, or a larger Cessna or Piper aircraft (also 6-boxer), though airplanes rev a lot slower.
Richard Hodge opposed 6
fuck your neighbours what are they gonna do about it
I've got one and my shit of a neighbour rages when I start it.
I miss my Valkyrie. Mine had TBR Racing exhaust! 4 inch dual cans looked like grapefruit shooters!!! It was all day riding comfort. I had an Arlen Ness wrap around rear fender and Ness seats front and back! 🥲 man I miss that bike! It was a rocket!!! Surprised many sport bike guys, I would walk away from anything under 1000 cc!
luv this vid
Woah.. did you just call the Rocket III a "novelty".... TRIGGERED.
AimlessMoto Rocket III is BA
The best sounding bikes I ever heard were the 1960's era Triumph motorcycles.
Me too. I had a couple back in the 60's and 70's and still have a couple.
My '03 Moto Guzzi California Stone sounds amazing with a deep throaty rumble and has a Harley like tone but maybe even better thru the S.S. La Franconi mufflers and full stainless exhaust.
@@gregorytimmons4777 absolutely, I have a 2008 Moto Guzzi California Stone with aftermarket pipes and I like it much better than my 1997 Harley Wide Glide. The Guzzi is my hands down favorite. I do love the vintage Triumphs though.
Really the best sounding one? What exhaust there?
Best sounding bike ever Honda CBX. Formula one scream. Albeit the Valhalla monster sounds cool.
Have owned goldwing riden Valarie. And Rocket three. Dang it so cool. But Ive run out room road king Thruxton and concours 1400. The Kawasaki is my power trip 156+ Hp plus handling hard to sneeze on.
Two wheels are fun 😊
There is one for sale in my hometown for 5,500 dollars with the cobra pipes. Should I go for it?
I remember my buddy bought a Mazda with a rotary motor back in the 80s that thing would run it would turn some high rpm and hardly move but it would go over 100
That giveaway bike... I keep missing out on these free bikes, man! I'm starting to think that someone don't want me riding...
I own a 2000 Honda Valkyrie Interstate . Red and Black in color and in real nice condition with only 52,000 miles on her . Love Valkyries and I have ridden quite a few brands . Your right about Honda making nice bikes . Anyway , just want to say that I enjoy your videos . Now I got a question for you ,,, When you gonna do a review on the Valkyrie Interstate ? You have done a couple on the standards and tourer models , but haven't seen an Interstate or even heard you talk about the Interstate in your videos . You do know that there's a Interstate model , right ? Thanks for the video .
I have the same bike, a 2001, 165,000 km on it, it still runs like a top and is stinkin fast. Maybe the best bike ever built.
Sounds great! But my 2003 road King with fishtail pipes and no baffles to me is the best sounding bike on Earth LOL
In ny case it is my 89 Springer running 1 3/4 drags wit a short pair of steel baffles
Wow I love it
The Honda Valkyrie in one word:
CHARACTER
No other mass production bike carries as much bone stock character, than the Valkyrie. It might not pull respect everywhere you go... but it's the one bike that never gets disrespected anywhere. Only the most ignorant and hardcore of the "V-twin or nothing" crowd, will turn their nose up at a Valkyrie... and the soundtrack alone will tip a few visors with the street bike crowd. Even though the engine is a Goldwing F6 with higher RPM cams, it doesn't feel like it. You have plenty of torque in the lower range, with added pull up top. Make no mistake, it's a heavy bike... but 5 minutes in the seat through the curves, and you'll wonder where the extra pounds are. The weight is low and easily manageable. Steering is light for the bike, but very stable. Only the most daring of riders will find the only tradeoff to the Valkyrie's design... and that's lean angle. Even if you do find its limits, the low center and associated stability will give you all the warning and capability to pull out. For this reason, I don't recommend running tires with higher traction than a good touring tire. Yes, the bike is capable... but with stickies, it can easily exceed the instincts you'll need to keep the difference between scuffing nerf bars and boot heels, to scarring your helmet.
As timeless a bike as you will ever find in mass numbers.
I literally have the same identical motorcycle windshield pipes I think the only thing that is different is maybe your cupholder still have it and I will never get rid of it the best bike I will ever have
Amazing sound 🔉🔉🔉🔉🔉
Yea it does sound cool
Awesome
Love the sound of my harleys that all have supertrapps-If loud was all, every band would be Led Zeppelein. However, the Valkerie sounds like the Corvairs I had in the 70's.
Bruce Carney yea, love the old Covairs, but it appears that you've taken a step backwards in the horsepower department going from a flat 6 to a V twin. By the way, do you know how much horsepower those Valkyrie make?
Where are your gloves?
What coste bicen
cold start- proceeds to show us how good it sounds by revving it decently high.. lol
You can get one of these one the cheap now a days. It reminds me of the original 76 Goldwing. Just raw yet refined.
The original Wing was a 75,(I still have one,the bike I learned to ride on all those years ago)when the pregnant cockroach-AKA- muffler went south, replaced it with a 4 into 2 header (the roach was 1 big muffler with 2 outlets),gave a real nice snarl when opened up,also saw one of those 1st gen.wings once with a blower on it,capped by a Holley 4 holer, went like stink.
Cranky Yankee your correct. Introduced in 1974 at Cologne motorcycle show as a "75 model
Mike Hancock I have a 1978 Goldwing and a Valk , is like this one .. Two different breeds o cat.
Yeh nice sound !
I have owend three gold wings. Always wanted the valkyrie. Just purchased a 2000 model about 6 months ago. With two brothers 6 into 6 exhaust and no baffles. Absolutely love it no regrets. I will never sell it.
I owned a Valkyrie, and loved it. The only reason I don't still own it was thanks to a woman having a seizure while driving and totaling 3 cars as well as my poor Valkyrie. I ride a 1992 FXRS now, but would be happy to have my Valkyrie back.
Get back on one. I did.
Steve Dixon why and give your self a second chance to get squished ?
Ian Druckman I love mine
What year is this?
Cupholder is hilarious. The audio here does not do it justice but this Valkyrie boxer 6-cylinder or a chain drive cam VFR Honda V4, or of course the legendary Ducati V-Twins with aftermarket exhaust are a few examples of engines with a sound and feel every bit as soulful and usually far more powerful than a Harley. To hear the sound accompanied by that never-ending pull forward that you don't get with a Harley is life-changing...
It's awesome bike.. Mine 2000 valk I'd removed all baffles and it sounds awesome.
To each their own. What matters is that you get out and ride. And, ride what you like and express yourself and set up your Bike the way you want it to be. It would be boring if everyone had the same taste; I like variety and individuality, that's what's really cool... :)
With that all being said, that's why I have always ridden HD's... They are the easiest to modify, rebuild, maintain, service, work on, find "Affordable" parts for, customize, trick out, chop up, bob out, or hot-rod to what ever level you want them to perform in for whatever taste you may have; especially, the "Sportster" is a easy Bike to turn into anything you want. Sportsters make great Drag Bikes, Cafe Bikes, Hooligan Flat Track Dirt Track Bikes, Bobbers, Choppers, and Cruisers. No other Motorcycle in the "World" is more customizable than a HD Motorcycle...
Then, you add the HD "Pedigree" and you've also got a decent "Investment" for a Motorcycle, too...
For me, the Harley-Davidson, Air-Cooled, V-Twin, sounds better than any other Motorcycle on the "Planet!"
But, as I stated in the beginning, "To each their own..." Peace, HD :) ppp
most harley guys cant ever appreciate other bikes, like marrying the first girl you ever saw...had harleys, goldwings, sports bikes the lot..tried everything and owned everything...for me best sounding bike is Aprillia RSV 1000 also a v twin...makes a harley sound like a cement mixer and has the power and grunt to go with it...ill never buy a harley again...nice to look at nice sound comfy but there is much better bikes and much more reliable for half the cost.....of course just like BMW car owners badge snobs will be upset by my comment but it is the truth, look past that loyalty to a brand and all that image thing and try other bikes..you will be pleasantly surprised.
It is not the truth.....it is your opinion and the whole issue is totally subjective. Even the moron that posted the video should know better than to try to pass off his opinion as fact.
so harley owners aint biased?? really?....pull the other leg.
true that! The Aprilia V twin makes the Harley owners shake their pants and Ducati owners wish theyr never bought a bike in the first place when they hear the roar of the Aprilia!
@@markmalasics3413 hahahahahah
@@samegutten wish my rst1000 sounded that good, it sounds like an angry sewing machine
Throaty is the word your looking for but struggled to find .... great vid as usual
I have a '97 Valkyrie with baffled Cobras too and I LOVE it! Love the sound, but I also like the sound of a few other bikes a bit more. Something about Ducatis with the right exhaust is probably one of my favorites, but I love the sound of a lot of other bikes too. And as crazy as this sounds, I sometimes even miss the angry chainsaw sound of my old RD400 with pipes (I seriously can't remember the brand? Been a looong time.). Riiinnngg Ding Ding Ding! And I'm never going to take the baffles out either, as I like not having my neighbors wanting to kill me every time I fire it up.
I'm the second owner of the Valk and I've owned it for about 15 years and I've yet to have a major repair or fix on it. The most involved service I've had done to it was when I had to have my front brake line redone and cleaned to get some old goo out of it, but that was it. The odd tune up and changing my fluids when they need it and it just keeps running and running perfectly. Reliable AF! And it still gets a lot of attention for being an older bike too.
Honda really did an amazing job when they made the Valkyrie!
Oh, and I talked with a really cool dude who owns a Triumph Rocket at a gas station and I was blown away by everything about that bike! He had aftermarket pipes on it and it was the most beastly sounding bike I've ever heard! I love my Valkyrie, but I'd kill to have that Triumph!
Pablo Duganheim I’m going to buy a 98 tomorrow. Any words of wisdom about the Valkrye? Any quirks I should know about? Everything I have researched about this bike is overwhelmingly positive. Your thoughts.
@@afterburner2869 Other than either checking it out thoroughly yourself, if you have the skill, or maybe having a mechanic look it over, nothing really. Repair/maint history would be nice, but not required. If you can do a test ride first, and you should be able to, do that and have the necessary riding gear with you. I wouldn't buy a bike without a cash in hand test ride though, but that's me.
My bike has never had a major mechanical issue ever! It rides like a dream and with the low slung engine they handle remarkably well for such a big bike. Power for days! If it doesn't come with a windshield, get one, as everything's so much better with one than without. Saddlebags are really nice for trips, but most come with them. I also had memory foam added when I redid the seats and that was a good decision too.
Most Valks have been well treated and ridden smartly, so it should be in good shape and ready for many for years on the road. Honda did a killer job making a reliable, easy to ride bike.
I wish you good luck and I hope this bike is in nice shape and brings you years of fun, if you decide to buy it. Any other questions that you can think of, just hit me in the comments. Best bike I've ever owned and I LOVE my Valkyrie!
Pablo Duganheim I appreciate the information, thanks. Fortunately this bike is nicely equipped with a windshield and saddlebags. I will definitely be taking it for a test ride. A couple more questions, how many miles can you get out of a tank of gas? I am not the tallest guy around, 5’8. Will I have any problems riding such a big bike? I’m concerned about getting my feet on the ground to properly maintain control when stopped.
@@afterburner2869 I'm glad to hear that it sounds like it's well equipped. Unfortunately, one thing that at least the earlier Valks lacked is a gas gauge. Yours might have one, but my '97 doesn't have one. It's a 5 gal tank and gas mileage isn't that great for a bike. I rarely ever pushed much beyond 120 miles without refilling it. Reserve is said to be a half gallon when you flip the reserve tank switch, but I've never run out of gas and I rode from Florida to Az without a problem. I have no exact idea what the absolute final mileage is but I think I remember hearing that it's 34-35 mpg. The one thing you should do is just zero out the odometer every time you get gas. If you forget and you're in a city with gas stations around it shouldn't ever be a problem with the reserve gas though. It blubbers a bit and and there's always enough warning to switch it over. This sounds much worse than it is though, so don't worry about it and just get used to resetting your OD when gassing up.
I'm 6'2" but my niece who is maybe 5'6" was able to ride it by herself without issue, as the seat and ride height are fairly low. If anything, being a bit shorter means that you'll have even better coverage from the windshield. I've seen other people around the 5 foot mark on them too, so you have no worries whatsoever. What's amazing is that my best friend is 6'6" and he's comfortably on it too.
Great bike and almost every week there's been at least one person who wants to talk about it.
Pablo Duganheim I ride a Suzuki Intruder and I use the odometer as my gas gauge as well, so I’m used to that. My bike also will cough and sputter when it’s time to go to reserve, so it sounds like it has some things in common with my Intruder. Everything that I have read and heard about this bike has been overwhelmingly positive and that is very reassuring. Thanks for all of your feedback and I will keep you posted if I get it this evening. It’s about an hour and a half ride to see the bike, so if I get it, I will have a nice ride back home to get to know it.
