Man..., watching this makes me just want to break down in tears of how much i miss the 80's.... This just feels like "yesterday"
R.I.P. Ben and Rick
I felt that. Same...
I so get you. I had the great pleasure of being able to jam in the 1970's and the 1980's. It was the best time to be young so far.
I’m tears right now. Just the best of times.
80's music is the one!
I know. It’s a reminder of our own mortality. I had so many good times in the 80s that I can’t ever duplicate or recreate simply because I’m older now. I think we all grieve somewhat for our youth😢
Man, ballads don't get any better than this Top 100 tune of all time. RIP Benjamin. You were superb!
And Ric Ocasek. RIP.
Sounds better than the radio version too
🙏🙏
and this folks is how you write a masterpiece..
They do when the people in the band actually know how to play an instrument.
This is such a beautiful song. It was written by Ric Ocasek, but he felt that the song needed a better vocal performance than he could give, so he let bandmate Benjamin Orr sing it instead. A very wise, and selfless, move. Unfortunately, Ben died of pancreatic cancer in 2000. Gone but never forgotten and the music will live on forever.
I have always loved this song. Ben had such a beautiful voice, perfect for this song. He is greatly missed.
Thank you for explaining that. I had no idea
Similar to Ace Frehley of KISS, who wrote "Cold Gin" but knew that Gene Simmons was a much better singer, so he told Gene to do the lead vocal.
Бен ОРР был лучший! Великолепный музыкант! Божественный голос!!!
Ric wrote, Ben delivered. Brilliant.
RIP Ric and Ben from The Cars and thank you for the music which lives on.
Correct Sir!

Well said... Awesome!!!
This crowd has no idea how much greatness they were in the presence then.
I do think the UK live aid had a better line up and venue, the old Wembley stadium.
My wife and I drove from Toronto to Philly for the concert, and we knew there were a lot of great bands playing, that’s why we went.
@@HamiltonRbIMO what happened was that 100,000 people just happened to be in the stadium and then simultaneously several huge musical acts ended up there at the same time and then they figured, “hell, may as well play a concert to raise money for Africa.”

True.
I grew up "completely '80s," we could say. 1985 = end of 5th grade; 1988 = Jr high grad; 1992 = HS grad.
This particular song really grabbed me at the roller rink I lived at, for the better part, throughout the 1980s.
Now I hear it nostalgized within my memories of that Roller King, which no longer exists.
But this song is the absolute easiest that I've ever figured out on guitar.
I loved how live music was then. No auto tune. No nonsense. Just real vocals. It’s all the little imperfections that make it even better.
