And the Crowd goes Nuts ! Did you see how silent they were ,when Cars were building ,the Song
The Cars rule.
FOREVER THE CARS !! ❤❤❤
RIP Benjiman Orr and Ric ocasek
I love this band, it's incredible and they last over time ❤️❤️❤️
Great ... Great ... Great ... The Cars = ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Greg Hawkes on synthesizer, David Robinson on drums, Elliott Easton on guitar, Benjamin Orr on bass, and Ric Ocasek on guitar/vocals. Love this band.
Absolutely. As more time goes by, I appreciate them more and more.
Orr sang half the songs as well.
@@PlanetRockJesus I love the song "Drive", Orr sang this so fantastic
What a brilliant beautiful band.
@@canicemorrissey7313 David Robinson I like also.
Incredible band, so many layers of talent and way ahead of the time. In the mid 70's they were setting up the 80's pop sounds
I used to drive around in senior year 1980 to the cars music. Now im 61 and still loving it.
good reminder that the guys in the band were really good background vocalists. just another aspect of their one of a kind sound.
The Car's where Excellent Live. 🎹🎤🎧🎚️📹🎛️🎙️🎸🎷🥁🪘🎻🪗
All my friend love the cars back in the 1985❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
One of my favorite videos. Loved the female in it.
I love these guys !! They are a big part of my youth !!!
you might think is best song ever you cannot change my mind.
They were so cool in their nerdy way, and just so great.
Their music is timeless. I love that both Ric and Benjamin can do fantastic lead vocals🎶💕
These guys were ALL "ALL STARS"....Keyboards at its BEST!.....and on & on!
Unbelieveable... just seems so unreal listening now so far into the future. Nothing like it today. The undulating sea of fans. The Concorde taxiing into Philly International after a 3 hr cross-Atlantic supersonic sprint with Phill Collins aboard!
Saw The Cars live in '87. This venue was amazing. The sound is unbelievably clear and robust; studio album cut quality. Was always disapponted with live performances for the fact the music is drowned out one way or another with the sung lyrics garbled by technical issues.
Not here. This event was on another level. Mega kudos to all the unsung techs and stage-hands that worked in the background to put this together. A masterpiece of musicianship!
The harmonies are amazing for a live set, WOW!
They were the real deal. Sounded better live. Wow, the eighties were the greatest.
I never really appreciated the Cars back in the 80's as a teen. As time has gone on, I've become a big fan. Really great music
I am like that with Def Leppard.
😮this is a live masterpiece! Jesus this is an excellent live
I wish I could go back into time.
Uno de mis temas que me llegan al corazon💙💯
My favorite rock band is cars .My favorite rock band is cars. And my favorite song is you might think i am crazy 🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
What a great freaking band!
2023?
The Car's are great!!!! The eightie's were the best time of my life!!! They have great voice's!!!!!! I still listen to them now, love their music!!! 🎶🎶💯💯......
One of my favorites by the Cars.
RIP.....Benjamin & Ric.....These guys had it....A True "SUPER GROUP".........PLAY...it...LOUD!!!!!
This was an amazing band. With 2 lead singers with COMPLETELY different sounds...and for 8 years or so...they were one of the most popular and successful bands in the world.
Not really completely different, styles yes, not sounds, listen to Ric sing "Lets Go" on the Tonight Show, it sounds just like when Ben sang on the original recording
2:13 look at Benjamin orr playing like a master R.I.P
Actually starts with Elliott at 2:04. Finishes up with Benjamin. Then MTV kills the vibe by switching the video to Phil Collins’ plane.
Too bad, he missed two notes at the end of that part of the bassline. He played the penultimate note wrong and the last note doesn't even sound.
Professionals. Really close to the original sound. RIP Ric and Benjamin
Yes I was a big cars fan.
Great great band
Thank you, Cars, for My Favorite Song.
The best backing vocals!
641K views , I'm thinking the 41K was ME 😍 Can not stop replaying this vid . How gorgeous was Ben Orr , and so so talented 💕🎶💓
Yeah OMG ..He was beautiful ❤
Wish I'd been born in time to follow The Cars while they were still around. (I wasn't born until 1999)
I'm glad their stuff is so well preserved on Spotify and CZcams though cuz without that I never would've discovered them. They're slowly but surely replacing Queen as my favorite band of all time
THE CARS uma das melhores bandas da história , saudades dos que partiram , BENJAMIN ORR .
I remember this day, like it was yesterday, my heart breaks that all these amazing stars have gone. 1985 was an incredible year.
The whole decade of the 80's.........
Not for the homies in Africa
When music was so much better
@@Munrobagger1976 fr
That whole decade was amazing but 1987 was a better year music wise
super geniales, leyendas. super rock. THE CARS¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
RIP Rick...
Nice song , regards from the south of America,. Lima/ Perú
Muchos saludos, que bueno saber de ti 🙂
@@deschutesmaple4520gracias amigo , sudamericano nos gusta la buena música.
So amazing and handsome Benjamin Orr ..❤ i miss you 😢 Rip Ben .and Rick 😢..
Oh The Cars llevame a dar una vuelta y que Benjamin Orr este a mi lado ..Dejame soñar un poco 😢
✌✌✌👍👍✨✨✨✨
I watched this live as a little kid. It's so good, and now both Benjamin Orr and Ric have left us. Anyone else crying happy tears while watching this moment of pop music perfection?
Happy tears n sad ones to.
@@dianegargano175 definitely sad tears..we can never go back..only forward..sadly...
Those background vocals are so perfect I can't believe it. Man, they were awesome live.
Beat me to it - was going to comment on how good they were.
Has to be fake. Way too good
@@silkywellman9046 People have commented on the other tracks the cars did at live aid,
that the backing vocals are on play back, overlayed with live vocals
@@amyjeffs3269im pretty sure they did that with the synths since greg hawkes doesnt have 4 arms
Great song my fav song from the cars
It’s magical this live. He’s brilliant.. Those background vocals….. legendary. It’s a feel good classic song. Such a brilliant piece of 80s.
The best group I never saw. Thank God for u tube I've seen over 100 concerts but damn love the cars!!!
For all the young people that stumble across this video. Do yourself a favour. Check out the Cars first two albums. When I was a young man, those records were game changers. And that beautiful blonde man on the bass? That is Benjamin Orr. An incomparable talent taken from us much too soon. The tall skinny guy? Ric Ocasek. And Elliot Eastman is quite possibly the most unver-rated guitarist alive. Do a quick search on CZcams. Listen to their albums. Make your life just a little bit better. I fucking miss you Ben.
That is a packed house.
I Saw them un concert Lubbock TX 1985, this song was the first Best Video of the year MTV '83
The BEST part of this video is Benjamin Orr 2:06-2:16. He was having the time of his life!
agree
The only band that sounds as great live as on record ❣️❣️❣️❣️
Apart from Genesis.
They sound great but there are many bands like that. Floyd, Tull, supertramp etc..
@@BeeBumper maybe to others I simply meant in my opinion they are the only ones Ive seen that sound the same live that's all - opinions are simply that - opinions not FACTS lol
The Cars were the best. Always capable on playing the songs like they're recorded. And just tight musicianship all around the group.
Better in many cases.
This song smells like popcorn on a Friday afternoon.
What a beautiful times...
The legends.....pure gold.....harmony ....but the especially chemistry in the members of the group, and sure the beauty voices of BEN and Rick....they play and sing somewhere in the universe .....rest in peace .....
Incredible band, one of a kind
Four days before my 18th birthday.... I remember it well
Nothing can replace the music in 1985. The best year ever. Give me a like if you agree.
i think 1983-1987 had the best music but 1985 was the peak
definitely 🎶
songs had the best synths
I totally agree! Graduating high-school loving the Cars! The music in every genre was incredible! Phil Collins, Madonna, Tears for Fears to name a few! We know Whitney Houston was killing it! I really miss that era in music! Some of the best times of my life!
I d say there is no better decade then the 80’s . Music / fashion etc everything…I d give away anything if I could go back in time and stay there forever and ever ❤️❤️
I miss the 1980s. The last great era of music, life, respect and really, just about everything. By the way, you can't beat concerts like this ... even today. Probably never will.
Yes you can. What you're missing is your youth. There are still amazing concerts going on like this all over the world at huge festivals every year that young people are having amazing, care free times at. The only thing missing is you being young and there. Every generation thinks their time in the sun was the last great time anyone had in the sun.
And FANTASTIC coke!
I would say that era carried through the early/mid 90s but was killed by radio consolidation and other factors.
The 80's were pretty special. Some people don't like it when people carry on about about the 80's but I suspect there is a bit of a jealousy as they couldn't experience what we could as teens. The funny part is they come on CZcams watching these some 30 or 40 years ago pop songs and then say modern music is still good or try and defend its worth. Why would they take the trouble to watch an 80's music video when they are saying current music is good. The fact is most of the music of today is boring and sound the same that's why they are here listening to the wonderful music of the 80's.
Grande the Cars, uno de las mejores bandas de la historia; QEPD Ric y Ben
I love the drummer who is bold enough to wear a rose bouquet button-up shirt because maybe a fan gave it to him or his wife ~ David Robinson. And here's some love for ~ Elliott Easton too. Master at his craft - kimie
I never thought I'd see the beginning of their Live Aid performance. Look at Benjamin and his bass...a true Rock star! Ben and Rick were gifts to the world. What a brilliant band this was!
Totally agree ¡ such talent now in Heaven's RRHF
There will never be another band like The Cars
what a band, there will be no other... supergroup really
The Cars backing vocals are in the same league with Queen and ABBA.
So as Def Leopard,Producer was Robert John “Mutt” Lange
Queen Producer Roy Thomas Baker effect. Multiple Freddie = Perfect Backing Vocals
As always, getting my daily dose of this song.
I remember watching this live in my apartment and tuning in on my stereo in Albuquerque. The bands and the music was amazing. I stayed home from work to watch this.
this music is my favorite ❤
Such a great band
RO rest in peace. You added excitement to my 20s. I have a new appreciation for Ben. His lead vocals are awesome and backing vocals are great too. A true musician.
@J Davis - I can’t tell if you already know: Ben Orr died of pancreatic cancer in October of 2000, at the age of 53. Terribly sad! 😔 RIP Ben and Ric
Definitely one of my favorites ❤️😍
One of the best. So many modern bands owe their shit to The Cars. Boston strong boys!
Wow!
I know they had some classic songs and great studio albums but I was not expecting them to sound this good live
Such an underrated iconic rock band
Underrated? Only if you're not old enough to remember the 80s. They were HUGE back in the day. Tonnes of radio play and video rotations on MTV.
Super Supreme band 👌
They turned in one of the better sets of the day in the US, on point and well played. A career highlight for them, I thought. Pity it was relatively short.
Вау!шедевр! Супер! 2024 👍🔥🎉✨🎤🎶🎵💯✌💋🌹
Ben Orr what a legend
The Cars...if they were a sports team...they would be an all-star team. Amazing strengths at every position.
Rest in peace ric ❤😥😢😢🎤🎤🎸🎸🎸❤❤
great band , great times in the 80!ss
This is one historic event for us kids growing up in the 80's! That the world came to help rebuild a famine stricken Ethiopia. Glad to have been part of that generation! 🇵🇭😎✌🌻
lol and all it did was prolong a war
My friend Suzzy got me into these guys back in my teens. She made one hell of a mix cassette, love the Cars now. :-)
there are only two types of music the music that is always remembered and is very good and the one that just happened and was forgotten
What a music! Whats decade!!!
Wow those vocal harmonies are so on point.
Because they weren't sung live for the Heartbeat City songs.
Recorded track
Awww! This is Great, I’m crazy for the Cars! Love and miss you Ben and Ric!
The Cars, grandiosa banda, hermosas sus canciones, su legado al mundo. ETERNOS...
This music is so timeless and these guys have great chemistry. If you live in the northeast and get a chance to see Greg Hawkes do a live show with the band he works with, do it! Saw him a couple times and he’s still at the top of his game and representing the Cars brand well.
Greg Hawkes and Eddie Japan!!
Can’t wait. Seeing them next month.
Sounds even better live!! 👍👍
@@gloxepy yep they are fun!
Bast live version of this song
These guys were my fave band back in the day....always loved them. They were my 2nd concert as a teen...superb! ❤
Los mejores en vivo, Banda lejendaria!!!
¡Ellos son los mejores! salud 🙂
Great oul band
Spectacular performance!!!!!!🚗🚗🚗🚗🚗👍👍😍
Great performance
Cars 2 😎
The Cars perfectly blended being the All-American band with the European feel, as well.
They are the equivalent of Alt Rock bands of today emulating nostalgic 80's tones. The Cars emulated 1950's Rockabilly tones with New Wave.
