Hi! Here's a quick vid from a fun session I had playing with one-footed glides.
If you caught the last solo session #5, you'll recognize the glide into toe stop sprints/shuffles. For more of a break-down of that skill, it's here: • Roller Derby Skills: G...
The glide into toe stop sprints is one of my favorites along with just the glide itself, but I've been wanting to try spinning from the same set-up.
Sometimes the glide is fast enough to get me past the opposition on its own, other times it gets me past the first line of defense but I need the toe stop sprint to clear the next line of attack (often a rotating brace). And then there are times when that second or third strike is really on it and a hit is inevitable. A spin is great in this situation, as it gives me a chance to spin away from the contact or absorb it into my rotation and continue forward with the momentum.
In the glide, my weight is centered on my rear/trailing foot, which frees up the forward foot to lift/step/pivot.
Spinning: On the inside line, the left toe stop is down and the spin is clockwise. On the outside line, the right toe stop is down and the spin is counter-clockwise. Start the rotation by turning your head-shoulders-torso, and your hips-legs will follow.
    Thanks for watching! xx
