- This is a short video of skills I have learned from others over time. Roller derby is an amazing thing and being good at it is even better. This Video was filmed at House of Quad in Denton, Texas. They are amazing and I am lucky to be apart of HOQ.
At Avast Apparel we love to play roller derby and print awesome t-shirts. Philip's T-shirts is a test print for Arch Rival in Saint Louis. Party McFly's shirt is a misprint for the Austin Anarchy. (printed on the back of the shirt by mistake). Party is also rocking the Unicorn vs T-Rex with lasers Leggings!
More tutorials PLEASE. I'm a team captain, and have taught these tips to all of our skaters since watching this video. I've watched this video nearly everyday, so that I become a better skater and a better teacher. The backwards blocking tip is brilliant!

Maybe! I look forwards to it! Dub City girls is the team i will be doing fresh meat with. It was supposed to be Morgantown Roller Vixens but I moved to florida. Any tips and advice on buying wheels and bearings.
+Rachel Kaparek Bearings: in my opinion it don't really matter, I skate a lot, and outside l. I have Moto bearings and they are fine. ($40 or so). Reds or also okey, I think they are about $30. I don't really spend money on them. Wheels: I like 59mm slims. there are two basic sizes in wheels, slims and wides. A lot of wheels are 62mm tall and the same wheel will come in slims and wides. There is nothing wrong with 62mm but i like slims, they are more narrow, slightly lighter, tuner easier. if possible I also prefer 59mm tall wheels. they are smaller than the 62mm and I am just a little lower to the ground, this means I can have your toe stops lower to the ground as well. 59mm wheels start to roll with less effort because they are smaller. hardness of the wheels is huge but really depends on you and the track surface. Lots of wheels are numbered for hardness. 84 would be super soft, grippy, and kinda slow. Like skating in mud. Poisons are 88s. Then 91, 93, 95 is kinda the middle ground I'm on 93s or so. 97 and 101s or super hard. but Double Excel is one that hard if wheels. He is 6 ft 2 I think on a large frame so the needs harder wheels if he wants to not skate in mud. When it comes to wheels, ask other skaters if they have wheels you can try. I'll bet you will be able to try a ton of stuff before you drop $100 on wheels. Sorry for the novel, I hope other helps a little, Doc
@@RachelKasparek so crazy seeing this comment bc I'm on the MRV team!!
u r so my coach!!!!
i am in my roller derby coed team. and that first tip was super awesome. super effective. and boy do i hate being the jammer
What team you on?
I am from Denton, Tx. I play for the former Denton County Outlaws, (ranked sixth in MRDA) but we merged with Dallas Deception and now we are called Texas Mens Roller Derby, Travel team is called the Texas Outlaws. We retained our ranking at 6, but spring roll is coming up so we will see how we do and try to keep it. I think it is going to be a challenge with all of the talent that will be there.

+Avast Apparel Hi, Avast Apparel! I'd like to learn more about pack strategies you've find most effective for:
only your jammer in the pack
only the opposing jammer in pack
both jammers in the pack for a slow pack and a fast pack
and overall what your team should be doing to prepare/set up for each situation
Great videos. Thanks!
It helps to have a black belt in kung fu when you are the jammer, no one can touch you!
