Very cool to hear the sounds of a match without a soundtrack...almost like ASMR.
Basic rules = a full contact race where 1 player (who has a star on their helmet and called the jammer) on each team gets a point for lapping each opposing player legally. Most points after 60mins wins.
Rather just suck there arses in the locker room.
Actually, each round goes for a bout a minute and they do as many rounds as they can in an hour.

As a junior skater, I had an amazing clinic with Loren Muntch. She is an amazing jammer and taught us how to refine our techniques. She’s truly an amazing jammer and person.
Top scorer, so much explosive power and one of the reasons Rose City won this year. :)

I always wanted to try roller derby. Im still trying to find a team, but I'm taking it one step at a time. I had some roller skates when i was in the 4th grade, but my mom threw them away. I stopped skating for 4 years, so im asking them for my birthday. I do wanna try a team tho 💜

If you are under 18 check out JRDA for a team near you or WFTDA if over 18. Hopefully you get those skates 🤞

So, aim of the game is to break the barrier?
Basically. Each team has one Jammer trying to get past the other team's four Blockers. For every Blocker they lap they get a point. It's full contact, so Blockers will do things like make a barrier, check the Jammer or other blockers.
It’s every player the jammer laps after the first lap, right?
Yes, one point for each player you pass on the opposing team after the initial pass (break through of the pack the first time around)

Derby used to be more like pro wrestling, with a lot of theatrical outfits and facepaint. As it's become a more organized sport less and less players dress up, but quite a few still put on the war paint.

Adam Cornthwaite two jammers from opposing teams try to pass the blockers to earn points. it’s a full contact sport, so there’s a lot of full body hits and checks.

This is Roller Derby baby! A full contact women's AND men's sport. It's full of straight, lesbian , bi, and trans people! It's a wonderful supportive sport. I've been playing three years now! If you have a league in your area, try out or just volunteer at games!

Instead of getting a ball to a place you score by lapping the other team. There's one Jammer on each team who can score points and four blockers who will try to stop the Jammer. Full Contact, so you get lots of checking and pushing people out of bounds.

Both Jammers can score in a round, but the Jammer in the lead can call off the Jam and make everyone reset and start over. So there's advantage to being in the lead, but it's not the biggest thing.
Why is it that the overweight girls have long shorts and skirts and the fit girls have short shorts?
I like the highlights but the game is hella slow and boring
