Rebirth has been solid with Aquaman too. I actually like the fact that in one issue where Mera rips apart a tank and hurls it to a bunch of soldiers, Arthur catches it and SPECIFICALLY says to Mera, "No one dies." And I liked how he actually pointed that out. But besides that, I need to check out this book and a good episode you guys!

I really do love this book. I'm a diehard Aquaman fan. I loved reading the Sword of Atlantis and subsequently the Sub Diego storyline. He's just a wonderful, if not very underrated character to the masses because of Superfriends. But to be fair, that show made almost every hero lame. What I liked about New 52 Aquaman was how assured he was. Yeah, he had many detractors, but he still cared about the surface world.
Very much due to his father Thomas Curry. And that's something I've always loved about Aquaman. He's a fish out of water in the very sense that he's a part of both worlds and yet he wishes to serve both. I also loved Mera in this series and they really showcased how competent/loving and badass she was.
Also Throne of Atlantis. Unlike that pile of crap of a DC movie, is a phenomenal comic which has earned a position on my list of top ten favorite comics of all time. In short, Johns did such a great service to this character. I doubt the film will do it, but we'll see.
I love Gleason's art, so I had to buy those older stories! I also had to get all of Geoff Johns Aquaman books, he is my favorite comic book writer of all time. Can't wait for his Batman earth one vol 3. Batman is my favorite hero of all😎👍

+ Annabeth Chase No problem. I just hate how he's an utter joke nowadays. Yeah, the dude who is the ruler of 2/3rds of the planet, has a mystical trident, can manipulate water, and summon large sea creatures is lame? His stories maybe hit or miss, but I argue he is a cool character who has had his image raked through the coals by the likes of Family Guy, Big Bang Theory, and the rest of mainstream audiences. Hence, why I am looking forward to JL, as Momoa looks like he gets it.
I have tons of faith in the film. I believe Mamoa's Aquaman will be the break out star in JL and will have tons of hype going into his solo. James Wan is one of my favorite directors. He pretty much made horror films relevant again as the genre was only surviving through gimmick films like paranormal activity at that point.
Geoff Johns has also written the draft for which the film's screenplay is based on.
By the way, the Trench things aren't all dead, because some remnant of them come back for the Throne of Atlantis and Death of a King arcs later in Johns' run.
I appreciate they dont just all die. I'm sure they would have appeared again in justice league rise of the seven seas

Muroomaa reminded me of BatmanVSuperman Aquaman clip that Wonderwoman look at.
This story didn't make me think one way or the other about Aquaman but it convinced me that Mera is a complete badass.
Please do more Aquaman arcs. He is my absolute favorite DC hero and I love seeing him getting some back issue love. Thanks for this. Keep doing what you do

Aquaman is awesome! The trench is a great story. Aquaman is really cool. People do not give him a chance. I have always loved Aquaman and hopefully the new movie helps to show people that he actually is pretty cool. Also Tiff should make a video talking about her thoughts on some of the Aquaman titles. Keep up the great work😁👍
home you guys are still having fun doing these. with all the recent changes happening to youtube, it would be a shame to see you guys loose the joy in making these. especially since I love back issues. other than that, you guys are bad ass dude!
I don't really think so, but you never know. I was implying the amount of back issue uploads increasing therefore putting a strained time limit on sal & the gang. I've seen this happen to so many other CZcams personalitys and I don't want that to happen to comic pop. I generally love their stuff and want them to grow, but I also want them to have fun with what they're doing.

This book was my introduction to comics when I was a teenager. It made both an Aquaman fan and a DC fan.
I just recently reread this run, I got into comics in 2013 so the New 52 was easy to jump into, but during that time and in the years since then this is the series I remember the most fondly.
As you mentioned I love the point in Aquaman's life they focus on because he's been through so much already that the later issues explore so well. I just love the premise that after losing his dad and being exposed to the world he turns his back on the surface, then when he finds Atlantis that mindset only grows, then eventually he softens, he joins the Justice League and now we've caught up to the present. I just like the dark past he's given in this, from all the Black Manta stuff to having helped Ocean Master devise war plans for attacking the surface. It's great when you've got a story with a deeply flawed hero (no pun intended) and from that his villains just write themselves.
always have been an aquaman fan. my favorite dc comics hero. its a shame that must people don't get it with him. most of his stories are good. anything that involves mera, black manta, ocean master are great. i love aquaman...

I love Aquaman. I feel like he gets a bad reputation by ppl who mostly just watched the old Super Friends cartoon and think he's lame just because of that. Not saying you guys at Comic Pop do that. That's just the vibe i get from alot of ppl. Kinda like ppl who hate Robin because of the old Batman show. To be fair, most DC comics and characters were lame in the Silver Age so basing them on those versions was always kinda unfair to me. I loved his Adventure Comics run in the 70s and they did some dark and unprecedented stuff on there like killing his 2-yr-old baby and having Mera have a nervous breakdown over it. I loved his New 52 run, especially Throne of Atlantis, and his Rebirth title is easily in my top 3 DC comics right now. I'm hoping the movie can do him justice and not just portray him as barbarian Khal Drogo underwater. The Justice League trailer gives me hope though after they say he helps a small village every year and brings them food.
The best thing about Aquaman is the duality of the character. He's half human and half Atlantean. He's responsible for protecting his birthplace on earth along with the land while being on the JL, yet he has to rule a nation. With all his political and existential problems, he still remains the most honorable character to both his wife and all under his protection.
This, Animal Man, Charles Soule Swamp Thing, and Batman were the only new 52 stories i liked.
I really enjoyed Animalman and Swamp Thing up until Rot World.
Oh and I also have to say that I'm very happy to see that you guys are taking risks and trying out new things. I didn't notice anything wrong with the mics. I didn't even know that you guys had mics until this episode (did you always and I just didn't realize it?). In the words of Aquaman from Batman The Brave and the Bold, you guys are Outrageous!

Aquaman New 52 was one of the best New 52 books but Rebirth is even more awesome IMO. I honestly feel is the best Rebirth book out there right now. Anyway lots of incorrect information here. Mera is from Xebel not Aqua for example and no they were not married in The New 52.

Honestly in my opinion, I've always thought that Aquaman would work really well on his own indi book/graphic novel. He actually has a pretty interesting world, in sea and land. Idk

I think that the current DC Rebirth run's a fun one too, though it's less of a superhero jaunt than John's run? In the right hands, Aquaman can be a really cool superhero to work with.
Ash Force yea I read the rebirth issue of that and enjoyed how the humans are now trying to learn about the Atlantians instead of just seeing them as a threat. It reflects how a similar situation would go down in the real world

People say Batman stayed the same in new 52, and he did for the most part, but Batman inc was suddenly very different, several of his villains and side characters had pretty big alterations including the bat family (Stephanie and Cassandra just lost their parts entirely). Really the only ones that stayed the same post Bew 52 were GL and Aquaman. So basically the ones that Johns was still writing
All this explanation about him not actually talking to fish makes me think Bruce Wayne was joking around with him in the Justice League Comic Con Teaser last year.

I liked a lot of Johns run, but i hated Death of a King. Such a lame ending for a run. I loved the parker run that came afterward. Then came the Cullen Bunn aqua conan arc, which is best not spoken of except in mocking tones.

Yeah Maelstrom was a great story. It could have done with some Orm since its his mom as well, but i believe hes being saved for whatever that story Johns keeps going on about that will likely be far inferior to Maelstrom.

As of the watching of this video in February 2020, we exist in a reality where the Aquaman movie was well-received, and they started plans for a movie about THE TRENCH. Like, the physical geological feature.

Maybe it's just growing up with fantasy-type stuff, but I never minded Aquaman, even when all I knew of him was Super Friends. I never thought he was The Worst even when he was riding sea horses. I thought that was pretty neat. I was never a huge fan, but I never got the hate or ridicule, either.

Please someday do "Magneto Testament" the book is extremely dark and tells real world history. It's a story that shows the serious side of comic books and makes you think about what humans are capable of doing to each other
