What other challenges should we do with the Eurobike? 🤔 Let us know in the comments! 👇
I don't know about the Eurobike, but can you please, please find some amateurs/guests who aren't white? It's beyond a joke how white GCN is
Get Hank to ride up the Angliru vs. surviving to the top!
I would like one of the GCN presenters to do the next Paris Brest Paris event on the Eurobike. You've got 4 years of training, should be easy, no big climbs and people even do it on fixed gear bikes, let her shine in it's natural habitat.
love the thing that you still manage to not throw it right in the trashcan, respect! 😇
Recycling comes to mind😂♻
I know the hosts hate to ride the eurobike. But I love the eurobike videos. Thanks for bringing it back.
they should be using a 1k USD polygon s5 lol because it would be no contest, the good rider would perform almost as good as his 10k bike lol
I wonder if they could do a video making modifications to it to see if they can make it less of a pos lol.
@@F1ll1nTh3Blanks they shpuld at least have everyone change to their own saddle.
That is always the first complaint, and it has to be a crime agsinst humanity at this point. Nothing is worth undue harm to one's undercarriage.
@@F1ll1nTh3Blanks Frank should slap a dura ace groupset, aero handlebars and a wheelset on it
After watching this, I am actually considering buying a Eurobike.
Eurobike is already the most cost effective bike GCN ever had and used .😂
A lot of their used bike videos are the best value in my opinion, but for a new bike with two spinning wheels the eurobike is solid
Hahaha to be fair, it's been great bang for buck 🙌
@@gcnso when Eurobike will be making sponsored content on their new modes like Orbea? 😂
@@andyheilmann1656The brakes fade very badly though after a few hundred miles.
I saw someone riding a eurobike the other day and it was like seeing a celebrity in real life
Love it.
I actually like the top tube curve on it. Reminds of the old Specialized avenge.
It *Is* a celebrity 😉
Same I’ve seen one or 2 out in the wild
Thats such a shame we dont have the power data from the eurobike. Should have put a pedal power meter on 😅
Should be standard for all euro bike competitions.
I would love to see a show about "upgrading" the Eurobike. By that I mean more like seeing how the bike improves when replacing wear items, tires, brake pads, chain, cassette with inexpensive/mid-grade parts. Maybe even give it cheap STI levers or at least index shifters. Si could do the incremental testing on his commute to work.
Or even use China components like sensah or ltwoo for a cheaper upgrade
Saw my first Eurobike in the wild the other day, was so exciting 😂
More exciting than seeing a top tier super bike tbh.
What a treat!
Me too! Langley British Columbia
Well, it's 50 times cheaper but not 50 times slower... though really, new decent entry-level bikes AFAIK start at $500 (so, 20 times cheaper). More of these comparisons should go with those bikes in my opinion. At least they vouched for Decathlon RC120.
Agree. I'd like to see the most popular beginner bike (specialized Allez £400 level) Vs something around £2k Vs superbike. Then see what the extra really buys you
Yeah but is the Euro bike 30 times worse than a 500$ bike? 😂 Probably but still.
@@anotheracademicwithhornrim3247Where are you finding one for 400? Lowest I have seen is 700.
@@F1ll1nTh3Blanks plenty in the asian market right now. you can get a full aluminum bike with shimano sora for around 450USD, and a full carbon one with 105 for 800USD
@@andrei-desu5361Huh, that 8Speedd Allez is still around $1200 here in the Philippines.
credit due: Hank taking more chances on that rolling scrap pile than I would be willing to. Fair play.
He loves to take a risks 😂
Some of that cornering looked just like what Hank does on his pro level bikes…respect
What on earth was that noise coming from Hanks mouth at the end of the video?! 🤣
He's from the countryside. That's just how they sound
love these types of videos but i think you guys overcontrast in most of these. I kind of wish you made the gap more realistic.. aka a "high end" bike in the 1-2k range that a hobbyist would likely invest in vs these 10k+ superbikes. When you guys literally get 200 dollar walmart or amazon bikes its fairly obvious its junk lol. I think it woul be more interesting to see the dimishing returns (which any hobby has once you hit a certain price threshold into luxery).
Anyways, thanks for the videos great as always.
Agreed but GCN are industry shills so it doesn't fit the narrative that you need a $20K bike.
I'd bet the 10k bike would beat the 1-2k bike by only a few seconds. Like you said, it really is diminishing returns past that point
They did a video like this before with 3 riders, pro, amateur and beginner. You’re right 1-2k bike was only seconds slower than the superbike
“It’s like when you’ve had a Guinness… but in a really bad way!” Give this man a presenting job!
Also loved the chain ring tattoo too. Simon is all of us amateurs!
Must give credit to Simon as well in all this, not just the super bike. He still managed massive numbers. Amateur he may be, but I’ll tell you he’s way faster than I am.
Hahahaha Simon smashed it 🙌
Fun watch. Great effort to the amateur. He help his end up very well.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Fourth. It’s always the rider, statistically. Now I will see the video and see if I were right!
Always depends on how good the amateur is.
I love this channel, watch it everyday since I took up cycling again.
Great to hear you are back on the bike!
GCN comment of the week is surely Simon's: "It's like you've had a Guinness, but in a really bad way"
The eurobike saddle must be the most uncomfortable saddle ever if Hank thinks is more uncomfortable than the Penny-farthing one on the velodrome
It's not comfy that's for sure 🤕
Hank should definitely do lands end John o groats on the eurobike just for the lols
He'll really thank you for that 😉
When Hank asked how fast is the Eurobike. It made me think. It depends how high the Hercules transporter is when he throws it out the back without a parachute. Might be about 118mph. I think.
Love the focus on the right bike on today's videos. Hopefully that will help grow the market overall instead of only chasing whales.
Love you vids ❤
And for a weekend warrior he is a beast
I feel like a puppy 🚴
This is awesome, but can we see a video on the new Bianchi Oltre RC?
As someone who owned the Eurobike for 2 years and just sold it, it is really underrated. Don't know why you guys throw so much hate on it. That bike survived hundreds of miles over 2 years. I even won races on it!
Its always about the rider. Even on that POS which is the worst of the worst, an amateur unless elite level, has no chance against an ex-pro.
I am beginning to think that “The Eurobike” is the actual super-duper bike of all time
Super nice!
I have a 3 spoker - they are great apart from the brake fade after a few hundred miles - a great training bike......and it is *quick* [downhill] 😆
Great vid!
Cheers! Why not check out 'Cheap bike vs Superbike' on GCN+ for something similar! 👉 gcn.eu/cbsb
You put the lead FROM BEHIND!
Awesome video, I’ve waiting for Gaston👌🏼
Just make these challenges with a sensible bike like a £500 Triban or a used aluminium Rimbrake Bike from 10 years ago for £300.
The Eurobike is just a joke and nobody should think of that as a real option to start in the sport.
Did you know that a new aluminim Canyon Endurace with hydraulic Tiagra is just 1200€?
I guess that bike is 90% of the Performance of that Aeroad.
I spotted a guy on a Eurobike the other week, down the shops. Did a double take. From a distance it actually looks half decent. I’ll bet my ridgeback hybrid I was on at the time, with my weeks worth of shopping in the panniers on the back, could have beaten it 😅
Can't you use Garmin pedals to measure power?
It's amazing how they always bang on about shadow stands in the tech show and then prop super bikes up with a stick. 😂
Do as I say...
We were just so excited to ride the Eurobike that we forgot!
The Eurobike does have one advantage over the super bike, I guess... The kickstand.
Where can I buy the classic GCN 'Twig' Bicycle Stand?
Watched this yesterday evening and duly had a long dream about the Eurobike. No nightmare, but remember how surprised I was in my dream just how many people ride a Eurobike.
Happy to be awake again.
Hahahaha what a dream!!
I usually love GCN videos and am a GCN+ subscriber but I’m having a problem with this video. It would have been easy to put on a set of Wahoo power meter pedals on the Eurobike to see how many watts Hank was putting out. Simon was generating 257 watts, which is really high for an amateur over such a significant duration. I suspect that the bikes themselves matter a lot less than this result shows. Put someone like Sepp Kuss on a Eurobike and he will blow (nearly) everyone else away no matter what they’re riding.
Hmmm. I have my doubts about the effort made by the pro 😊 i don't think a bike could make a pro lose to now+then rider.
That's heavier than my steel commuter with lights, dynamo, mudgurards etc. which admittedly costs a little more than 20x as much as the eurobike but still ... 😀
The wheelset definitely weighs more than 4kg. My fixie's weighs 3kg and they're horrible.
Same stuff, mine is 15.5 cheap commuter bike
I have a commuter 26" foldable MTB with entry level suspension fork and all the trimmings at around 15Kg
foldable MTB? @@ssenssel
@@2011hwalker Yep
How can it be that heavy? That is bonkers. I have a 30 year old Lemond bike and it is fairly light weight even though it is ancient. A modern racer at that weight.... wow!
It's a true beast!
I've had a similar bike just about a year ago, cost me about 180 USD, and believe me when I say the stock parts on those bikes are heavy as, particularly the wheels and the drivetrain. I then upgraded it with a 1x11 mountainbike drivetrain from Ltwoo, with an 11-50t cassette and 42t chainring, and changed it to a flat bar, and it lost probably more than 3 kg.
Steel frame, cheap wheels and components. My entry-level road bike with an aluminum frame and steel fork didn't cost much more but is only 11.5 kg.
My '86 Renown is about 10.5kg in the catalogue :-)
The bike made more difference than I expected. Thought Hank would win. Time for a new bike! 😁
That is probably the intention of channel sponsor Canyon, of course it could not lose
I think Hank could have made up that time if he'd had his competition hat on.
Hahaha it's always time for a new bike!
Man honestly that Eurobike is still like a dream bike for me.
15kg!
You can afford to dream a little bigger my man, damn!
There are many better bikes for the same price in Facebook marketplace than that eurobike.
I'd like to have one just to carry around on top of my Pacer!
Pick yourself one up 🙌
Hold on, that's literally Hank's job to ... oh, never mind, you got it.
GREAT video!! That Si falla is fitter (on the bike )than GCN own Si 😂 is it fair to assume the pose of the 2bikes at the end is a Green screen OR just a Very VERY quiet road🤔🤔🤔
He is not a typical amateur...
What is a typical amateur? I'm probably lighter than the chap in the video and would average maybe 320W+, many of my friends would do better. He could also have been much more aero and he seemed hardly gassed afterwards, whereas after a typical TT all-out effort I'd expect severely out of breath, snot/mucus pouring and wobbly on his feet. In fairness, commuting a couple of times a week is much less bike time, unless he has a very long route, than the 600km that I typically do, or the more average bare minimum 350km of any of the serious riders that I know.
@@Rob6020 Not him...
@douglasgreen437 but is he more or less capable than typical? He looks like he could be reasonably strong but wasn't performing as well as I'd have expected before taking into account that he seems to ride quite a small amount.
you would be really good for an amateur. And so is he. I think most people who relate and think about amateurs are barely able to put out 3w/kg.
@@Rob6020 What is your definition of 'amateur'? Because those numbers are definitely higher than what I would define as an amateur...
What's the name of the music at the beginning?
I’d love to see the crew upgrade the Eurobike to see how much they can improve it!
That would be fun! Di2 anyone? 😂
I have put a couple thousand miles on one. Upgrading the saddle is a given. Would like to see possibilities on larger sprockets, tire options, adding aero bars…
@@RhiannonTylerhowever much you polish a 💩 all your left with is a shiny 💩 and a.dirty cloth.
That said it would be interesting to upgrade and fettle it and get comparison times. I'd consider it a waste of money but hopefully GCN will think it's a good video concept!
@@peterleffler2062 They'd likely make thousands off of a video like that, so even if they went with 105 11-speed and put in some cheap, lightweight alloy wheelsets and other decent parts to make it faster, they'd be fine.
@@VIEultimate I'm not worried about GCN going bankrupt, I assure you! My point was that to *me* , if it was *my* money, it would be wasted money.
My god that Eurobike belongs to a hall of fame museum after all it's been gone through. It's like the blues brothers mobile, one day it'll just fade into dust
I would have taken that five pound kick stand off lol good one keepemcoming
I took the kick stand off of mine. Not much difference. It weighs a ton.😂😂😂, great bike though 😂
How about fit the eurobike with a more decent groupset.
It is a very entertaining video.Reading the comments it seams that some people do not realize that as much as I like and respect GCN for their content and promotion of cycling ( specially plus channel)this is fine wrapped advertisement for sponsors. And I am fine with that.
Of course that super bike is great and feel is fantastic to ride such a bike, but please do not take those numbers seriously, they are there to entertain us and to promote product.
Technically Hank didn't loose. If you can't pedal you aren't getting the power down. If the gears were a match the result would of been different.
I’ve never liked the stock saddle on any bike I’ve bought - could easily and relatively cheaply put a saddle you’re used to on it and it would at least be comfortable.
We don't have Eurobike (obviously) so I looked up the cheapest (new) drop bar bike I could find. $249 USD. Don't think I'd like to ride it. The cheapest bike I could find with a Shimano groupset was $599 for mostly Claris. How would something like that compete with your superbike?
The amateurs gcn feature are always young with loads of potential never old
Great idea and feature. To get the fairest comparison the rubbish bike needs to be adequately geared (so that it’s not undergeared in Top gear) or this will mess up the results. Chain rings on Eurobike should be changed as necessary
Hank should have got a speed ticket when before he came from the 30 limit zone :D
The main problem with the Eurobike is it's 14-41 max. gear vs the Canyon's 11-52. You suffer from relatively much higher cadence due to it's much lower max. gearing ratio when riding the Eurobike.
The gearing isn't the only issue here 😂
@@gcn I said "main" problem. There are of course numerous other disadvantages (such as over weight, wheel rolling weight, hub bearings, derailleur bearings etc.) but in my opinion, the main (i.e. biggest) problem is the max. gearing ratio. 52-11 gearing ratio is 4.73x while 41-14 is only 2.93x. That is a 61% disadvantage which magnifies the other disadvantages because it is a multiplier of them.
The gearing disadvantage is more evident in this case where the route is generally flat with some slight downwards. It is less of a disadvantage only if it is upslope.
I think I've asked for this a while ago, but maybe make a Eurobike video wherein you upgrade it a bit? Like put a Tourney, Claris, or Sora groupset on it, give it some proper tires (at least to the level of the Continental Grand Prix or Grand Sport Race), change its saddle, bars, and stem, and all that, and give it a series of test rides to see how much faster it can go.
The Eurobike is an excellent _training_ bike....if you can go fast and far on that thing you will be like lightening and endurance off the scale on a full carbon.....it will build up strength and endurance like nothing else - don't knock it....this is what I will do with my 3 spoke Eurobike.
Note: Have modified it though with some cable operated hydraulic brake units....the original brakes fade after a few hundred miles and therefore get very dangerous - I know coming down Cheddar Gorge on it last year was not a pleasant experience - [I also have 2 full carbon road bikes].
Heavy bike looks good for building strength but as for performance, that superbike is a better choice.. An interesting race..Indeed..
What bike would you go for?
Y u no put power meter pedals on the eurobike?!
Eurobike, the proud partner of GCN. 😊
The Eurobike shifters - they looked like Shimano AO50's - were derided at the beginning, but I think, unfairly. I will now utter a heresy. After years of riding with 'brifters', for reasons I wont bore you with, I am now riding an entry level bike using a 1x with an AO50. I initially expected to want to change it, but to my surprise, after a few rides I got used to it and decided to keep it. It is a bit clumsy, comparatively, but as someone brought up originally on down tube shifters I found no problem using it, and the changes are so precise and so rapid that I now actually - here's the heresy - prefer it to the 'brifter'. I shall undoubtedly now be cast into outer darkness.
Thanks for the input. I'm not a road biker, but I'm curious enough to consider getting a Triban RC100 with that shifter, and cause it's a cheap but quality bike.
@@lazylonewolf
Don't know about the shifters, but I think my bike (triban grvl 120) has the same frame (slightly modified?) and I love it.
@@bobrong9645 Oh yeah, was thinking of getting a flat bar RC120 since it's punching WAY up its price range.
The shifters we were talking about doesn't have the shifters integrated into the brakes like typical road bikes, but mounted on the tops instead. Since I ride an MTB turned hybrid with butterfly bars, it's not gonna be a huge jump for me if I get the RC100 I think.
Oh yeaah!! The eurobike has returned… 💪💪💪
God that blacked out canyon looks unbelievable
I actually saw a Eurobike in the wild the other day. It was being pushed up a hill.
For the money, Id have to say the Eurobike doesn't look bad. Considering some people literally cannot afford a carbon bike, it may be the only option. Does anyone have an unbiased opinion about the Eurobike? Is it ridable? Love videos like this guys!!
Any bike is a good bike! It may not be anything special but doesn't mean that you wouldn't enjoy riding it!
By the time you could afford a better or even "Entry" level roadbike you'd be a god by training on the eurobike 😅
Haven’t watched but before video started I said the pro for sure.
Then I saw the Eurobike and now I don’t know 😂
Even got the cat 5 tattoo on the leg.
"It has the most uncomfortable saddle known to man"! And Hank knows a thing or two about uncomfortable saddles. Anyone remember his experience riding a penny farthing?😮😂😮
Two 3 person teams 24 hour endurance track relay on two Euro bikes.
less aero, more euro 😅
Why not a longer course with some hills? I'm guessing the Eurobike's saddle, weight, gearing, shifting and other bits really start to take their toll on a rider on a longer course.
What's way more informative would be to compare all rider-bike combinations (4), to show the relative effects of a super bike for riders of different fitness levels.
The only absolute factors in a bicycle's performance are weight and gear set. Other than that, everything else is commercial.
Hank is everywhere! Small duels like this, big challenges like remote pub and even on gmbn with Blake and Martyn? How many Hanks do you have???
Hahahaha one Hank can go a long way... literally 👀
The return of the mighty eurobike 😂💪
Seeing the presenters have to ride the euro bike is like forcing foodie friends to eat day old fast food. Feels a little bad but the reaction is always interesting.
2:20 - Yeah we can ride upto 5 or 10 miles on this bike ... Can't use it for longer rides without taking a tea break 😅. It looks like a solid daily commuter bike to me ...
Can’t believe the eurobike still appears in GCN videos !
How much do the Chinese eurobike manufacturers pay GCN ?
Eurobike weighs 16 kg about the same as a£150 mountain bike , only difference it looks like a road bike !
It's very well used 😂
I have a Crimson Triax. If you ever want to experience hateful ranting about a cheap bike, just do bit of a Google on it. Admittedly it does weigh less than the Eurobike. Courtesy of a kind cycling friend, my bike recently gained a new cassette and rear derailleur. It's my commuting bike and serves the purpose well. It's an older bike.
GCN is a great channel but please make an more realistic comparison !
Ex pro on bottom of the range bike with at least Claris gears ! Carerra , trek , Triban etc ,
Anything but the road bike ! Feel sorry for the amount of people who have bought the eurobike because of GCN
Equal gearing retest needed lol 52-11 v 41-14 😂
The Eurobike is the ultimate training machine. The heavy weight will strengthen your muscles. Use it during solo training rides. Then ride your light carbon bike with friends. You'll outsprint them in no time.

Yesss!! Let's make it happen
Funny that the Eurobike has dollar for dollar paid for itself with all these challenges 😂
use the Eurobike for uphill climbs
I will share this with my wife before I buy my CFR
What small car can you buy for just $10,000? Just curious.
“It looks aero..it’s not” lol
I think Simon has the body of the endurance pro cyclists though between the two 😅
he has a very odd looking body, he looks like a pear.
Man, GCN REALLY got their moneys worth out of that Eurobike lmao.
can we have a compilation of random hank shouts
Now I need to see a 100k done on the Euro bike vs an amateur doing same 100k on the super bike
Jokes aside. This eurobike's colorway matches 100% the GCN jersey and bibs :D
That eurobike is light years ahead of my mtb.

How many hi 5s can hank fit into a video??
I tend to side with durian rider on this stuff, decent older stuff still kicks, 11-53 or even with 11-50 still fast , still light
