If you have a Costco membership, it is $299 for 256 G w/ the case
No, 499$
@@jd0g7527 Look like it's $399 atm, but the costco link is dead. =( But the facebook store has the quest 2 with free beat saber 128gb for $399, $499 for 256gb.
Was thinking about getting one, and still am actually, but I might have to do something I don't want to do, and start looking at the used or eBay type of market. I'd rather get a new one though, as I'm thinking I'd rather be more assured of it's working state... Not really sure what I will end up doing though. One plus is that you get BeatSaber with it on their current promotion, if you buy a new one, and I have a 30$ referral from a friend, although I'd rather just have the money, to buy 3rd party accessories with, like a battery head strap like a boboVR m2 Halo strap
I'm 54 years old. I've had mine over 2 yrs and I can say it's 1000000% worth it and does not get old! I mostly play beat saber & pistol whip.. I go on Bigscreen, Horizon Worlds, vrchat, & rec room.. I've met some incredible new friends..&actually going on vacation to meet them soon!
Man those 15 year olds would sure love to meet a 54 year old! Meta is awesome 🎉

My kids bought me one for my birthday in February. I would never have thought of getting one of these, being older I thought they were more for young people. I was wrong, I absolutely love it. I did have a bit of motion sickness at first but it didn't last long.
I just tried one and I’m buying one immediately. I can’t believe how far the tech has come in a few years. Played Darth Vader immortal. Smooth frames and I felt the fear from the illusion of drop offs and cliffs. Darth Vader was taller then I expected.
That's literally me lol! I got to try one last week and I'm instabuying when I decide if I want the 128g or the 200g one

I bought my son one. And now I want one for myself too ;(
As someone who has owned a quest 2 for i think 2 years now...
*buy it*
its amazing and i haven't stopped using it
Worth mentioning that buying a VR cover faceplate and a decent strap like those from boboVR increase the comfort by an order of magnitude. Also there are lots of really great killer apps both paid and free on the Quest. Pavlov, VRchat, Contractors, Demeo, Resident Evil 4 and even more. The pace of releases is really good recently with several good titles almost every month. It’s also a really open platform, I’ve installed Vr mods of games not on the store, like Doom 3, return to Wolfenstein, Quake 3 and Half-life which is a nice change from most “consoles”. Social VR in a lot of games is also a killer feature in my opinion, all just in stand alone.
if you find the ~2h battery life insufficient, just get a 10-15Ah power bank, and fix it to the back of the strap with velcro cable ties.
this gives you 6-7h play time, and it acts as a counter weight, making the headset really comfortable to wear for longer periods of time
And you can buy an updated strap with an extra battery attached to the back of the headset..lot's of options.
Bought this and it’s just sitting on a side, requires Facebook, constantly asking me to login to it and enter a code, horrible graphics, so much bug, people get kicked off for no reason, and just a nightmare. I am trying to sell it on eBay.
@@billholb1974 I think you do, just annoying they are constantly asking to do that
Strapping a battery to the back of your head for a long period of time is probably the fastest way to get a brain tumor
6-7h hours with a vr headset on? 🤢🥵
Excellent review Josh. Thank you for taking the time to share your experiences
The Quest 2 is a great entry into VR. It's no wonder that it is the best selling headset. I can't wait to see the next gen of headsets
sao we are waiting
Project cambria?
Entry level? So what headset is actually better? The HTC is triple the price and doesn't even have as much capability, and it requires sensors? From what I've researched, this is the best VR headset period.
yeah .. not just for entry. the picture quality is actually better than the valve index. just for full body tracking, there isnt really a great off the shelf solution, so you gotta get creative
You get what you pay for :)
A superb review that covers all the key aspects of the Meta Quest 2 (and VR in general) in an informative and easy-to-understand manner. Other reviewers on CZcams could learn something from this approach. Great job.
Very, very well done. ✔️
Thank you! We’re glad you enjoyed it.
One thing that might help with the wearability and comfort of the quest 2, I haven't used a standard quest 2 so I don't know what that feels like, but I tried one my friend has with a 3rd party elite strap and a magnetic battery that goes behind your head, and seeing the product page for that it says it's supposed to balance the weight out a little bit better because of the extra hot swappable battery pack at the back of the head... Might try something like that for weight distribution. He also has a 3rd party anti-fog fan on his too, just in case, and a hard shell fabric case for on the go
(Battery will also double your play time)
**EDIT**
I finally pulled the plug on buying one, and bought a HALO style headstrap to go with it, specifically the "BOBOVR M2 Pro" and love it compared to the original strap... To be perfectly honest, the original strap wasn't that bad, but since I had just shaved my head a week or two prior,(to save money on a haircut mainly) I found that the original strap felt like a tight rubber band around the crown of my head, that was constricting blood flow in the head area, and also felt, like even if I had hair, it would probably still feel like it was digging into my head, which the 3rd party strap just feels so much better all around at doing... Please, if you listened to my thoughts on the headstrap, also listen to this, which is, "everyone has different preferences, and the way things feel to one person doesn't mean that everyone else will have the same experience, so, please, while you get education from comments and reviews, use your own judgement on what's right for you"...
This is a really great review, i see you've done your research. You deserve more subs!
I'd like to point out the Oculus Link feature. For $300, it's the best pcvr headset when you hook it up to your computer. Having 120hz on a $300 headset is insane, especially because it works wirelessly. Perfect starter pcvr headset if you don't want to drop 1k on the index.
And there’s air link so you can play pcvr wirelessly. It’s awesome ✨
It isn't the best valve index and some more expensive headsets are better
@@mlgr2217 yeah i have both a quest 2 and an index, and the index is easily the superior headset. But that's not to say the quest isn't fantastic as well, both are incredible pieces of technology!
@@mlgr2217 But you pay more for it being superior.
I always expect a more expensive headset to be better :P that's how it should be
@@mlgr2217 you just agreed with him…
This was really helpful you went into alot of the things I was curious about

Great video good insight to quest 2 I've just purchased one it arrives today so looking forward to getting into my first VR experience
In my experience, motion sickness goes away with time. I only had it for like the first week and after that i have never had issues with it since. 1 fun thing people should try on the quest is to watch a moving youtube video and try to balance yourself on 1 leg and see if you can balance yourself or will your moving image throw you off.
Just make sure you don't break your quest 2 or your head while doing it, as both are expensive to fix
Motion sickness depends on the game, ive never had any issues in any flight sims, hl alyx, beat saber, Arizona sunshine or space pirate trainer with my htc Vive but damn i jumped into the HL2 vr mod released the other day and i got sick, really sick... I think its because of the walking vs teleport movement (im nts but i hope it supports the teleport like HL Alyx, havent had a chance to check) but it was really bad! I made the mistake of pushing it until it was too much then when i took of the headset it fully hit me like a truck and i had to go to bed and lie down! This is from someone who has a high tolerance with a good 15-20 hrs in vr a week of late.
@@dunxy I have played HL Alyx, and I hate the teleport feature, especially for turning, as sometimes, even if I'm turning the stick sideways it activates the teleport/jump mode, and haven't had motion sickness yet, other than that, I've heard that the game's FPS can also cause motion sickness or something similar, if it's too high or low for the screen to handle(also depending on screen size and quality), although I don't know if that last bit is a myth or not
Yeah, the first couple times I thought I was maybe going to have to return it. It sure was funny the first time I went to move in a game while standing up...I nearly toppled straight backwards like a big wooden board! XP
Perfect one with a complete step by step details u had shown.. thx u !!!
I trust this guy and his reviews because he brought up the same issues/things I had with my quest 2 experience. 10/10 video!
@Telegram @ 6 Months Later Review shut the hell up with your scam
Informative, thorough, and well-made. Thank you for sharing.
One thing I do recommend is getting the Elite Strap. For someone like me who has a big head, the original strap did not keep the quest steady when I had to move around a lot. This wasnt an issue with the original Quest as it had an amazing head strap that was easy to use. Also eye space adjustment was a downgrade, since on the Quest you can customize how far the space between the screens are, as opposed to the Quest 2 where you can only adjust it to 3 positions and its a pain to adjust it. Otherwise, get a Quest Link and youll have one of the best VR devices.
THIS! I just got it, and it is night and day difference. Totally worth it!
Really appreciate this review, thinking of getting one for 11yo son birthday who is obsessed atm! Very informative and answered so many questions- thank you 👌
You’re welcome!
Great video as always. One omission is that you didn't discuss the Q2's usage for PCVR (unless I missed it). Given that you have a powerful PC this is definitely something you should try - the Quest 2 makes up close to 50% of PCVR headsets right now, and its a good part of the reason I picked one up.
I think all the growth is in standalone, with PCVR pretty stagnant right now (with a much smaller user base) but you're missing out if you don't try some of the great games available, such as Half-Life: Alyx.
This was such a clear and thorough explanation for a newbie like me. Wish I cld've found one for $299! Mine was $399 😮 It comes tomorrow & I'm super psyched!! The upside to the price i paid is Meta's running a promo that it comes w/ a free Elite head strap ($60 value).
Ooh, good deal. I got Resident Evil with mine, but no Elite Strap. I just bought the Elite Strap though, and it's a real game changer!
I have had quest 2 since release and nowadays for me it's like a great exercise devide that also plays some games. In that sense, I like it.
Such a bloody awesome review of the Quest 2 ! Thank you very much , well done!
Do you by any chance have a review video of what its like to connect the Quest 2 to pc...and what can be done using the pc and the Quest 2 ? For example, gaming, watching movies via pc, and what does it look like inside the quest ?
From a 1000$ vive brick to a 399$ light weight wireless Quest in a few short years, can't wait to see how the industry evolves over the next 20.
im starting to save up for a quest and needed a review and this was great thanks
Hi Josh - this was really cool. My Son has a Quest 2 that he received as a present for his birthday. Its been sitting unopened for a year because it seemed a little intimidating. But you broke it down so well and I'm unboxing it finally this weekend. Thanks for being willing to look a little ridiculous for the benefit of your viewers.
I'm tempted to buy one of these but have a couple questions, can I use it just for looking around in games like elite dangerous while using my HOTAS for flight then the headsets controllers for character movement? and would the weight of the headset cause any pressure on your head after a while? I unfroatuntly cant handle things that are too tight or heavy as i get intense pressure on my head from them. I don't wanna buy one then find out i cant use it as much as i'd want to.
Thanks man, really great review!
you could have been speaking about how to pick apples. your delivery and clarity is brilliant. instant fan.
As a new shopper for VR---THANK YOU!!!! i am looking to get all the info I can. Thank you so much!
Hi, if I buy headset and controllers separately from two different people will it work
What you was suggesting, sounds like the Nreal Smart glasses, which has a really good high Res screen and the sound isn't too be shabby.
Thank you. Found that really useful as I'm looking at this in the Black Friday deals now for my son and didn't know a thing about it.
Please let me know if I should wait for the Quest 3 or get the Mets quest 2 right now in october 2022 is it worth it right now after the price change?
Young man, this is an absolute outstanding review. Thank you for the time. Take care.
Glad you enjoyed it! Don’t forget to subscribe to see more of our reviews in the future 😁
Just got my quest 2 yesterday and compared to the PSVR (the only vr headset I owned before the quest 2) it is a night and day difference, the resolution is amazing, no screen door effect, it’s lighter and more comfortable as well, I use the elite strap for the quest 2 so for me it’s comfortable over a long period of time
So you would say it's worth the upgrade from the psvr to this ,what's the movie playback like and 3d?
What I'm watching in this video is exactly what you see in the headset? Unlike psvr it's totally different to the CZcams videos
@@darrens3420 Movie Playback is pretty cool tbh, this headset beats the PSVR in every way, the only advantage to the PSVR is a handful of Playstation exclusives, this headset is 110% worth it
Are the graphics the same I'm seeing on CZcams or worse? Thanks
@@darrens3420 Better imo, graphics never come across well in youtube videos when they're 3d VR games
@@CJ-uh8bk i take it the 3d is better, never really rated it in the psvr
I have mine since launchand have been using it almost every day. As you can expect the battery capacity has gone down by quite a bit and the cooling has also suffered under the extensive use but over all it still works great
Edit: forgot to say that the charging port is really worn out
Yeah. Even when just using link, at some points the fan gets a bit audible and I have to restart my headset for that
Can't wait for the next generation of this, already love the meta quest 2 imagine what their next generation looks like
excellent video, you obviously worked hard on it. Really informative for someone like me who is just thinking about buying a headset unfortunately at a time when the Quest is $100 more than it used to be. So i need to be extra careful with my purchase this time.
I gotten the quest 2 but now im looking at Accessories for the quest 2 like swapping the head straps and the cushion that reasts on my face any help would be great
There are only a few channels that I take their opinion at face value you're one of them I like how you give honest and actual information and it's not just you screaming for 16 minutes go by this if I wanted that I would have watched the commercial for it I bought an Oculus quest 2 an alarm to my friend said that the novelty wears off pretty quick but they also said that you can do a lot more than just play games and they said by novelty wears off they basically mean it's still good they still glad they buy it but after a while it's like okay this is cool but it could be cooler
I have subscribed and, I have started with ps4vr and I am considering the quest 2 to do more and be able to do more and also experiences. Will this work for me?
Great content, good informational technology video. Keep making videos , cheers.
I really suggest you get the more expensive elite head strap. Comfort wise it is night and day and they all should of shipped with the elite head strap. I can comfortably have the headset on for a entire movie with the better strap.
I'm getting one in the mail tomorrow, does it cast to Roku TVs?
this is probably the greatest review channel that coincidentally also taught me how to use the quest.
Got one as a Christmas gift. I was unsure on the whole VR experience, but 3D-encoded movies (transferred over) look spectacular, almost like the viewing experience at a theater with those plastic glasses. The files are huge though, most running between 14-25GB. I opted for the 256GB model and am glad I did. I don't know what my long-term usage will look like, but as far as games go, Beat Saber is obviously a nice fluid rhythm game. Didn't care much for RE4's control and layout. I played it on the PS2 and Wii.
I do have the BoboVR M2 Plus kit coming tomorrow. The default strap is horrendous if you have long(er) hair and glasses.
What about VR visits to museums and geographic locations, are there such apps available for quest 2?
The Rocky boxing game I played at Christmas was Fun. You see the potential. I would say that meta verse is worth getting involved with. Ideas for games that could work are Acting a Movie game since you can record your voice and arm movements, Anything swords or sabers, tamagotchi VR, Gunner on a vehicle or space ship, Quiz shows, Parachute, Joisting, Horse Race, Concert management sim, Management SIM, Avatar rentals, Dating & Meet-ups apps, Drive, Lego VR, Dance off or TikTok app, They should link up with 'making a choice game makers' such as super massive games who made 'Until Dawn' which is where the gamer makes a choice or reacts to quick time events for an interactive movie game.
i will buy this now thanks for im subscribe you for long time i was searching for best vr
Hello
Do you know if the oculus quest 2 is compatible with cad software such as shaper3D or solid works
Or do you have any recommendations?
Thank you
Hey I know it’s late but what is the difference between the oculus quest 2, meta quest 2 and the oculus meta quest 2? Is there a specific on that is better?
a great device. The battery life could be bette but overall this is a good device. Better than all other VRs. I use it less and less 6 months later but its still family fun when we do use it. And cast each other’s games and scores. The charging can be better also but to me this is the beginning of Vr and the quest 2 is ahead of its time.
I am more into a cinematic experience with great sound. I don't see anything mentioned re the formats supported ?
Great video but yo wtf is that surround sound setup? Are your rear channels BEHIND THE TV?
I already have ps4 pro...do I buy a used vr off eBay with game for $150 or under or do I buy meta quest? thanks
Can this be used while it is charging
I've just purchased the meta quest 2 so was really good to watch your vid and I liked how you done the vid so I've subscribed and liked mate thanks for the info very good
Glad it was helpful!
just wondering, does the eye-glass guard, or whatever its called, push the oculus visuals slightly away from your face, and could this be a good thing for comfort? Have you found that some things are blury and the headset needs constant adjustment? Or is that me?
It does, but you’ll get more light leakage from the nose gap. If things look blurry typically what I do is first, get a microfiber cloth and clean the lenses themselves, sometimes that alone will fix it and I just didn’t notice a small buildup on the lens. When I first put the headset on I need to adjust it to get it as clear as possible. If you’re finding you constantly need to make adjustments, I’d look at the strap and make sure it’s tight in a way that the headset isn’t able to make slight shifts during play. Also, the lenses themselves can move (horizontally), so make sure they’re alignment is correct for your eyes and didn’t accidentally get knocked into a different setting. Hope those steps help - Josh
I want to be able to visit other countries, places as I can't travel.
Also be cool to hook up to a drone like the dji mini 3. Do you know if that's possible?
Can you connect beats headphones to it?
Do games come with it or do you buy them separately? Are their any games that would be good for a 5 year old kid?
I'd recommend checking ksl for used ones if you are looking for a better price.
Never used one,so how do you buy games also how much are the games? Looks great to play though
I would want to use something like this for virtual worlds, and...could it be used to work with information in a whole new way?
Can i connect the vr with my phone or my pc but wireless?
can I use quest 2 if I have no hand or arm function and get the experience
Great review thank you
Hi, I am wondering what internal space meant for this model (128G and 256G)? Since I store the game in my PC, what benefit does it offer with different size?
The larger the model, the more you can store on the device before running out of space. If your solely playing via pc vr it won't matter but I guarantee you'll end up with quest standalone games. I have the 64gb and ran out of space installing almost 30 games so it's not massively bad
Meta quest should come with a ring that can isolate your body from your environment, where you can freely walk and bounce around
This endless ring so you don’t harm yourself. I saw this in the early 2000 in VR games in a mall and I don’t get why this isn’t happening atm.
I only had the PSVR for now but for the motion sickness:
Don't push yourself but just play little by little and when you start to feel sick stop.
I could play longer and longer every time i tried so it does get better
When I first got it I barely got through one level of Astrobot and now I don't have issues playing an hour at a time or sometimes even longer
It would be interesting as Horizon Worlds develops more, if they premiered movies in a virtual theater to get people in the door. Lots of interesting things like that could be done.
You can do that in different games already
When your stuck in a work camp for 2 weeks at a time this is a blessing. The feeling of being transported into a virtual world.
What’s a work camp? What country are you in?

Gives you somewhat of an escape from the daily grind.
My biggest complaint about the quest was that doesn't have expandable storage. i tried to tie a SSD drive to it, and was never able to get it to work.

Good job reviewing the Quest 2. I agree with everything.
Hey Josh - I just love the way you keep it real in all your reviews. This was awesome. My sister in law gifted it to my Son and sadly its still sitting in the box because I was worried about whether its really good for kids in Elementary school. But based on your feedback, it looks like a ton of fun for grown-up(s). BTW, you do look goofy playing Beat Saber but who wouldn't. Thanks again.
You're welcome Vinny and thanks for subscribing to the channel! It certainly can be a lot of fun for adults too. We did a video on the top 6 games for the Quest 2 we recommend that you might want to check out if you want a few games to get started: czcams.com/video/jDh811LO6pE/video.html
I'd love to know if 128gb is fine for a casual player. My thinking for usage on this device would be Beat Saber, a couple of other games, and perhaps Supernatural. Should I stretch the budget to go 256gb? How big are the games usually?
The games are pretty small in my experience. Like 1-2 GB at most for the stuff I’ve been playing, so for your case I think you’d be fine with the 128 GB. - Josh
I'm still using one with 64gb. Must admit I am struggling and have had to delete stuff. 128gb would be more than enough for me. My favourite games are all smaller than 2gb.
no need, there's very few large games, but most of the games are small, you can easily get 30-40 games on the 128GB device
can you use this headset with steam?
How safe is this set for the eyes, especially for younger people/kids?
Can you cast to a MacBook that has wired output to a tv?
Ok, i like that its cheaper than the rift s, but when it dies, can you plug it directly into the system its connected to? That the thing the rift S doesnt die because its directly plugged in. I just would like more gaming time instead of having to charge it every 2 hours.
Thank you for the explanation. I am looking to buy the headset to improve my cardio experience. I will be using it mostly for exercise. I am 58.
Won the raffle at the company Christmas Party Friday night. I truly had no idea what the MetaQuest 2 was. Can't wait to try it out later today!
@SoloGrebe It was so freaky but cool at the same time! Especially the barrier! The initial setup tells you to have a clear space for the barrier and it is freaky once you touch or go over. Saber Beats was free to install and yeah it kicked my butt on Practice Mode! The Big Screen type viewer for videos is amazing like being at IMAX. But at home under my heated blanket. My hubby has already said he will be learning it while I'm at work. Ahhh retired people, gotta Love Them!
bro thank you i was going to buy one but i didn't know if it was a good idea it is
You remind me of Zach Morris from saved by the bell. Great review thanks
I'm *really* excited for Bonelab. As for Social Games, there's Rec Room and VRChat.
Also. the way you play beat saber looks painful. I'd suggest to use the claw grip and use more wrist when playing, doing this can improve your score.
Quest 2 is extremely reliable. Your not only save more money but time to deal with problems. The only problem with Quest is the controller drift which you can easily fix it yourself if you carefully disassemble it with a help of good youtube tutorial videos

i want to buy one for VR CHAT specifically. deciding between this and the Valve Index 2 which is more expensive.
I tried it out at a friends and it was great (the beat sabre and just a little bit of another game). The games seem to be reasonably priced, but are they a one time fee, or are they monthly because that would be a showstopper for me.
Most are a one time fee.
