- Alabama public land deer hunting success! In this video, we are highlighting a successful hunt from the 2022 season where Andrew specifically targeted community scrapes to find mature bucks on some mountainous public land in Alabama. Andrew was able to tag a mature buck on one of the scrapes he was targeting!
In this video we go over how Andrew found the two community scrapes, what the setup looked like on the map, finding terrain funnels that are likely to find scrapes, how Andrew set up to catch bucks wind checking the scrape, deer hunting in and around dense fog, using trail cameras to determine when to deer hunt a spot, using trail cameras on scrapes to monitor doe groups and more!

Great video man! I love the way you provided some good learning points by referencing the topo map to show where you found the scrapes between bedding and food. Keep up the great work!
Very good video, info and production. Made me smile seeing y’all get to enjoy the results of your work. And y’all are catching on fast. Good job guys 👏👏
Perfect hunting video. Terrain clearly shown on map, cover type shown, no frolicking squirrels. Keep it up!
This is by far the best produced “CZcams Hunt” I’ve seen!
sorry I missed this video. great job. glad to see y'all focusing on CZcams
Fantastic buck, and super helpful video. It's nice to have a visual on all the stuff we hear about in the podcast!
Way to go keep it up fellas! Love all the content!
Awesome video guys! Great info🔥 congrats Andrew on the buck!
Great hunt Andrew! Congrats on a great deer! Thank you guys for taking the time to provide some insight on the strategy of the setup for this hunt. You guys do so much to help us hunters keep the wheels turning. I must admit, im a sucker for a big scrape! Hunting in lower deer densities here in my part of Texas the deer become very pockety and a understanding the primary scrape locations, when you can find them, are a great starting point to branch out with your overall strategy. Keep it up!
Love the videos. Keep em coming!
The deer feeding low and taking awhile to make their way higher sounds like your podcast with Chuck Young in the Ouachitas. Keep up the good work and congrats on the little girl!!
Excellent video! Probably the best one I've seen. You just nailed it all the way through. I'm fired up now!
Nice info and harvest. Congratulations.
Good show gentlemen!
Excellent video !!! Really liked the hunt breakdown and the video quality was on point !!!
Thanks for watching!
Incredible video. Nice work guys!
Thanks man!
Very Good Video

There is a 10acre field on a hilltop that has grown up over the years with smaller trees reclaiming the field with scrapes scattered throughout the original field edge where deer are in mild cover from where the trees are growing sparsely then a smaller one acre field around 150 yards from the other being reclaimed by trees as well with 3 scrapes in tight succession. With that many scrapes on the same field I would think they would have to visit some of them during the day around 15 scrapes in total. Public land(not heavily hunted)
Sweet video, this is only the beginning for y’all! All the strategies and planning paired with a successful video that fully explains the hunt, what more could you ask for! Also eyeballing that Stryker pack!
Thanks buddy!
Everything you guys do is awesome content. I’ve used the techniques from the guys y’all have on the podcast and had my best season this past year thanks to The Southern Outdoorsman Podcast. Big Thanks to y’all!
Thanks, Brain!! Congrats on the great season!
Congrats. Nice deer
Moving to Alabama from Colorado.
I’m from Harlan Ky and hunt these steep, thick mountains with a bow only. Scouting is even rough getting the deer out is a whole other problem. Scrapes are a good strategy. Being zero ag here I hunt edge in the middle of nowhere that’s power lines against oak with a homemade water hole. Don’t really like using cameras. I enjoy the boots on the ground approach to scouting. I can use a map but I don’t care for that either. Scouting and finding sign is rough here to say the least. Love yalls content!
Glad you’ve been enjoying the content brother! Thank you for your comments!
I've been a long time listener and after I watched this video, I went back and listened to the episodes suggested and was wondering if yall ever started making mock scrapes the Troy Pottenger way. If so what are the results like?
We have tried one or two spots with mixed results so far! But one thing we have found is if the terrain feature is right, there is already an established scrape there. That was the case in this video.
Looking back, the spots we tried Troy’s tactic in weren’t quite the best from a terrain perspective. Going to try some new areas this year (that is, if a community scrape isn’t already there) and see. And we will certainly cover it on the show! Thanks so much for watching and listening!
What caliber and round were you using? Nice meeting you guys today at the expo
Good meeting you as well! This was a 7mm-08 with a Hornady ELDX bullet

I just want to see the videos y’all will make.
Just sent you a text - thanks Adrain!
Firearms season during the rut. Great way to destroy your buck age structure. Most of these states DNRs are completely clueless. Not even to mention allowing two bucks to be harvested.
Thanks for watching! What state are you in?
Whisper sweet tings on DEER blogs, why dont ya Voice over the video?? to hard??
