    As usual, Great stuff, Jeff!
    I sat the other night in the oak stand and had a good 10 that stayed on the outside while some younger bucks strolled right in. Two nights later the same thing and he made his way further south into thicker autumn olives and then beyond me to the evening fields. I need to get out of the oaks and into the thicker cover to get this guy. Sure, he might slip up and stroll in, but unlikely. I'll be adding a stand this afternoon along tha path of travel. Thanks for the insight and refresher. After your visit 9 years ago, I know better, but sometimes we get lazy! Best of luck!!!

      Not a place for a tree stand as it will be gone in a week. There is a little of everything there, apple trees, think passable brush, a nice overgrown field. Probably gotta go a little further in for hopes of finding a mature buck, which in these particular Gamelands is few in number as it is heavily hunted in rifle.

    Very true Jeff you just never know if there across the street but they’ll be back I believe that too! It’s definitely a fact that deer cross roads and go into deferent pieces so by the time they back in the piece we hunt can be a day a week who knows but they always come back and go into there safe spot in each piece to bed like you said we’re not hunting bamby these bucks know each year we’re the food is and we’re the does are I had a great wind yesterday I seen 5 does 2 mature and three little ones that being said I won’t go back for a couple weeks when I know it’s game on and I only hunt public yes Jeff is right there’s plenty of good public land just need to find it yes it is very pressured here but it’s simple if you see stands that mature buck sees them too and it’s just not ethical to hunt next to somebody yeah a friend but don’t be that guy that walks up to your tree at 7:00 when you been in tree hour before light you see a stand go deeper in woods or just go scout another piece of woods but you will find a honey hole eventually just got to scout scout and scout but there out there another great video can only go up from this channel thank you Jeff hope you have a great day and stay blessed! 🙏

    Jeff - looking for some guidance on how to approach one of my properties. It is an extremely high stem count swamp area where a good chunk of it may actually be too thick for what the deer like. It is certainly incredibly difficult to navigate as a human - there are lay down trees and blow downs everywhere that you constantly have to maneuver around and try not to make noise with. It’s about a 60 acre piece. Very wet and routinely gets flooded. Where do you even start with a property like that?

    Man the beauty of the patterns. Here in the Central Florida I love the challenge of the Green Swamp. Im currently going to try the mock scrape I learned from your video. Put up two last week. Archery opens October 27. I wont be out there until Nov 2. Got the cams on them and curious. I used vine as you do.
    After this video Im rethinking an area I found a cooridor yesterday in between three merging bayheads. It is only about 100 yards wide with spikes pf about 50 yards leading out from a middle which is the 100 yards. Out goes to open palmetto and and sparse pine. Im now thinking that the middle is a bedding area and not just movement corridor. So think i will sit on the three spikes coming out from the middle. I was hog hunting and went through it.
    Question- think its too late to establish a mock scrape on the lines coming out of each? Or should I wait and put them out in the spring? Archery starts 27 Oct then goes all the way through 29 January. Next is trukey season in the spring.

  • @JamesBjorkSax
    @JamesBjorkSax Před 8 měsíci

    So the general rule seems to be- set up near bedding at dawn and food plots at dusk. I don't understand why a decent bedding area can't be camped at dusk, to bag a deer when deer would be LEAVING the bedding area. Is it because deer will often bed down close enough to the edge of the cover to see out, and will see you set up mid-late afternoon? What if the bedding area is fairly expansive?

  • @freedomflyer7319
    @freedomflyer7319 Před 8 měsíci

    Please explain, the major food source is not a big field or open area, but a concealed food source in cover? Once this food source is found, you go back in layers from that?

    Any recommendations for a first year bowhunter

    • @MSgt_Boon
      @MSgt_Boon Před 10 měsíci

      As a bow hunter I tell people that archery is unique. Don't do it because it extends your season, do it because you love it!
      Stealth movement, scent control, camouflage, learn area inside and out. It's addicting if it is in your blood.
      All of these videos have relevance and for most in archery is just another blind sit waiting for the deer to get closer to the stand. I view it differently and often crossbow hunt during gun season. I try to move in on the deer/hog/turkey. I try to defeat the target game at their game.
      My favorite kill was a swamp deer I stalked up to 20 yards unnoticed from the ground. It wasn't a huge buck but the thrill and excitement of moving in unnoticed cannot be matched. Same with many hogs I have taken. Hogs are dangerous and that makes it even more fun for me.
      Tip: If you shoot something take note of where you shot it. Wait minimum of 30 minutes before you go to the spot. Find blood trail, slowly follow it to game.

    • @kylen1922
      @kylen1922 Před 10 měsíci +1

      Dureing this time of the year that can be tough. 10-2 is the best time for november rut season. U would have to hunt very close to bedding maybe next to water source, and browse.

    • @whitetailhabitatsolutions9751
      @whitetailhabitatsolutions9751  Před 10 měsíci

      Definitely hunt hidden small food sources next to thick bedding areas. Hidden apple orchards or trees, oak flats, small food plots, etc. It's best if you have a non bedding area to approach from and blow your scent into...but those locations can be quite productive mid day, this time of the year...

    • @MSgt_Boon
      @MSgt_Boon Před 10 měsíci

      It really depends on what state you are in and what public land. Public land deer get in thick when pressure is on but archery only areas provide less pressure because IMO archery hunters are for the most part very stealth and those that aren't can push a deer to you mid day as that is when most relocate for evening hunt.
      Don't over hunt one area and have a few food and water holes with stands that are quietly accessed or ground blinds. Most importantly enjoy nature while the kids are in school. It is God's greatest and most neglected serenity. I have worked through many life issues and never saw a deer from a deer stand.
