Not all hindus pray to gods. Most ancient formal (astik vedic) hindus were in fact atheist but followed DHARMA (rational objective morality) or laws of right and wrong human behavior. Also AHINSA (non violence, non transgressions onto others) is param Dharma (prime Dharam) . Dharma is mandatory for all hindus,... gods and rituals are all optional and personal choice.

I was there in 2019 & I paid 100 rupees in the same area. But I would recommend you always ask the price first before ordering, I got scammed a few times too. I live 100 kms east of Varanasi.

The ancient part of Varanasi (called Kashi) was not just a plce of 'spritualism' but a center of learning and science and philosophy, (destroyed by the islamic invaders) . The great muni (thinker) named Sushrut was also doing his research in modern medicine in this city, dissecting cadavers (as there were many cadavers here) and his books on human anatomy, surgery, circulatory system, digestive system, reproductive systems etc were the first of the medical books known to man. HIs book Sushruta Samhita is dated between 1200 bc to 600 bc.

Dear friends... Why are you doing casual travel in the most ancient cities of Bharat.. we donot travel casually unplanned when we travel with our families and ladies children etc. there are many starred hotels and boats can be hired in the evening breeze.. plenty of flights are there from the airport... You should have visited the largest university Benaras Hindu University and IIT Benaras and reviewed researchers... Careless traveling in India can be a recipe for disaster for foreigners (I have faced many problems in Europe etc as well))... Best wishes...

Religious places people go to do charity thats why majority local people live their to live off of charity. So, if you are unwilling to do charity or beggers bothers u, it is better to stay away from religious places. It is obligation on hindus to do charity to especially sanyasi.
It is better to go to touristy religious places.

Her husband was also beaten, tied up, and the perpetrators committed the crime as a group in front of her husband 😢

No, I am not unemployed-thank goodness I am no longer in India 😂. However, I came across a report from The Hindu. While Varanasi is not extremely bad, it's important to note that rape is not an isolated incident there. In fact, there are **86 reported cases daily**. These numbers represent only the reported incidents. According to data from the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), India witnessed an average of **86 rapes per day** and **49 offenses against women per hour** in 2021.

Varanasi is for cremation on the banks of ganga river, old people coming to spend their last days and temple vishwanath. It is for those who are follower of hindu religions. It is not a touristy city. As far as scammers goes, be kind to them as regular inflation rising they are finding hard to support their family as you can see penury everywhere. In the west, everything is 10x costly and western govt and companies make heavy profits selling products and protecting 3rd world corrupts gaining blood money.
Unfortunately in 3rd world countries govt and local strongmen rob the majority poors and not pay well for their labor. They wont let you make exorbitant profits by having price control.
You yourself were willing to spend 400rs at start bucks for their lousy coffee but your heart broke giving rs. 150 for lassi.

They dump half-decomposed bodies, human faeces and industrial effluent into Ganges River. And the most horrible thing is that the farmers use the river water to irrigate their crops, so these "filthy" stuff go back into the food chain.

Ofcourse in civilised you just bury the bodies underground to rot, making the entire area a wasteland. Were you sleeping when WHO recommended cremating covid deceased bodies and not burying it to destroy the virus completely something that we've been doing for thousands of years but it took a pandemic for the modern world and science to realise it

first of all, we dont dump "half decomposed" bodies into the river. we immerse the ashes into the water.
in christianity you bury the dead bodies into a wood casket, hoping for the dead person to be re-awakened on the day of judgement 😂😂🤣🤣🤣
      - the body decomposes over DECADES
      - the body releases all poisons, toxic juices into the ground and ground water over DECADES
      - you drink from the ground water
      - additionally, that piece of land is factually cursed and considered haunted for all times. everyone knows that christian churches and funeral grounds are haunted because sometimes the soul attaches itself to the body if the soul wasnt educated spiritually during its lifetime.
the basis of hinduism is: i am a soul. i am not a body.
and you know what, i dont blame you if you think that hindu cremation rituals are not civilized.
thats because christian media very intensely has been spreading lies, defamation and misinformation.
you make the conclusion why christian media and institutions feel the need to attack other religions 24/7.
