A Ritchie Blackmore solo is neither too long, nor too short. Its precisely as long as it means to be
Seanothan O'Neill The end of this song goes longer than the 17 endings of The Return of the King
Exactly!!
I actually love that solo specifically because it makes you think it's gonna end then keeps going. It's like edging. You think you're gonna get your resolution but it just doesn't stop
James Vogt me too!
🙏👌
Stargazer is the singular greatest vocal performance in the history of rock music
The only thing I think can compete with it is Far Behind by Candlebox
Ehh... Anything Queen.
@@yarbgreat1 lol no
Beyond the wheel by Chris Cornell can be compared
Stargazer is one of my favorite "punchline" song. All these people slave and die to build a tower for this wizard that they worship so he can ascend into heaven and become a god. Then when the time comes, he climbs to the top and steps off.... and splat. Beware of false prophets.
Check out Kill the King by Rainbow.
See the movie (though its a bit cheesy) "The Silver Chalice" with Paul Newman and Jack Palance (who could be the "Wizard" in the Rainbow song).
I agree in everything, except I've never seen a true prophet, so I distrust any of them.
Kill the King is far and away their best song IMO.
@@juanm.fernandezcastillo1467 Can't see something that doesn't exist.
YESS...BEWARE..I LOVE THIS KIND OF MUSIC..BUT PL....DO NOT GET SWEPT AWAY/JESUS CHRIST IS THE ONLY WAYY.
The Drummer is nasty.
That's the great Cozy Powell.
karlmoles65 Cozy was awesome
Cozy Powell was one of the most underrated drummers ever, he had 2 solo albums that really rocked.
Amazing drummer. One of the very best.
Rainbow, man on the silver mountain
🌈🏔🎸
Black Sabbath - Fairies Wear Boots(Ozzy on Vocals). Probably one of the grooviest tracks ever made.
Now thats a track to listen to, or even Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, Into the Void, Iron Man. Could go on and on. Just listen to every Sabbath album
Ronnie was everybody's best friend as soon as he met them. He's considered the nicest guy in rock, never met a stranger.
Charles B. cuz he doesn’t talk to strangers haha!
@@MultiMixSAint everyone is a friend
beautiful comment
I love Ronnie, he was a great singer, but he fell out with everyone he ever worked with, Rainbow, Sabbath and every member of Dio barring Vinnie Appice.
@@MultiMixSAint lol
I've always thought Gates Of Babylon was Rainbow's best song. That song is so special and important to me. First time I heard it, I was blown away. Then I had to listen to it several more times.
NateM I was about to recommend that. Amazing song absolutely love it!
Me too!
I think Stargazer slightly edges it out, but I’ll agree that it is criminally overlooked and deserves just as much attention as Stargazer gets.
Now you gotta do Deep Purple!! Deep Purple - Child in Time. Great reaction guys, it's awesome being here taking breakfast in this side of the world, getting a notification that you guys have uploaded a reaction and find out it's a classic... this just made my morning!
I would suggest you guys give a listen to Man on the Silver Mountain by Rainbow too. React or not, doesnt matter. Its just another good Rainbow song.
That is just an awesome song! My favorite out of the Rainbow songs.
Same here 👋🏽
Great suggestion.
Love his live version of that song with the tempo sped up.
My favorite song by Rainbow is "Street of Dreams". Ritchie Blackmore was perfect in that song.
This song is prob the most underrated song ever. Why it's not played on every classic station that plays smoke on the water 5000000 times a yr is beyond me. This song should be so much bigger
Ad one person commented "most bands can only dream of making a masterpiece like Stargazer"
I would appreciate if you could react to Deep Purple - Child in Time, their guitarist Ritchie Blackmore was also the founder of Rainbow and responsible for the awesome solo in Stargazer.
Goka GOla Gommunism I would also appreciate that, but I think 40 minutes of growling is not something they want to listen to.
Lord Perth - The entire Edge of Sanity - "Crimson"? . . . . probably not :P.
Added note: Damn, Goka was way ahead of me! And haha, yes Lord Perth, its already difficult to get the guys to give Opeth a 2nd try (and vocalist Mikael Akerfeldt being the 2nd vocalist on Crimson with Dan Swano ;).
Lord Perth omg yeeeees!!!!
Yes to Child in Time. But they may not appreciate the song's length also.
I know they dont do Live vids, but I KNOW they would get into watching the band play it ("Child in Time") if they gave it a chance, seeing them and their stage presence.
Pantera - Domination (Live From Moscow)
This song is a masterpiece. Sung and played by expert musicians at the top of their game. Nothing in it is "too long".
thats ritchie blackmore
you don't tell him how to play
he tells you
Stargazer's a fantastic song! To me, the lyrics seemed like it was about a slave to an evil wizard, being forced to build a tower to allow the wizard to reach the stars (hence, stargazer). It seems, though, that it doesn't work and the wizard just falls to the ground and basically becomes a stain in the dirt lmao. But the bright side is it means the slaves are free to go as their master is dead, and the song's protagonist seems to announce his desire to go home.
Ayanle Mohamed yess!!!
I honestly thought a light in the black was a better song. After while stargazers turns into a big along today.
Light in the Black is the sequel to story told in Stargazer.
I never really got why Stargazer is considered the most iconic song of the album. To me, Light in the Black is the ultimate masterpiece.
Stargazer has Dio's best vocal performance(in my opinion), but A Light In The Black has those two mind blowing solo's. They are both amazing in their own way.
Death - Flesh and the Power it Holds
That song is one of the milestones of rock music. And as far as i know this song was played together with Munich Philharmonic Orchestra. Yhat is one of the very few examples back then. Rainbow's sound was pure quality and song themes introduced dungeons and dragons theme to hard rock genre.
Hey guys. Your comments and headbanging makes me smile. That is a great idea to listen to different genre music and you do it very honestly and a lot fun. Great job!
Stargazer, absolute masterpiece. The picture it paints, the story it narrates... It becomes so easy to visualize thanks to the raw power and emotion in Dio's voice. The instruments really add life to this.
I always pictured the cover art of the album when listening to this. It just for some reason worked well with my imagination.
I agree with that.
Dio - Rainbow In the Dark!!!!
Ritchie Blackmores solo can't be too long. He is a virtuoso, he can take you to this distant place in space with his guitar and make you forget everything else you have on your mind. Even if he played a 30 minute solo it would be beautiful and a real pleasure to listen to for me!
A Ritchie Blackmore solo is never too long !!!!!
One of the best drum intros in rock played by Cozy Powell .
I have to say in early metal!!
Was about to type the same thing! \m/
For being one of the most accomplished drummers ever, he STILL is under rated
He and Bill Ward are criminally underrated! Check out some of the footage of Cozy with Jeff Beck from around 1972! Beck is my favorite guitarist, but Cozy really steals away the thunder in that performance!
Helloween - I want out
That or pretty much anything off Keeper of the Seven Keys Part 1.
King for 1,000 Years.
The videoclip for it. That would be an awesome reaction.
\m/
Solo was off? Come on man .. one of the greatest solos ever made hands down.. this is one of Dio's signature songs
He said a little long, he would have liked the song to come back a little sooner
this 2 like to talk a lot , blackmore is the best and never plays a solo too long, they shoud talk less and let Blackmore play, ...
Solo was off? Blackmore is one of the intelligent guitarists of all time.
Ritchie Blackmore from Deep Purple formed this band when he left the band. Ronnie Dio on vocals and the late great Cozy Powell on drums. This is an epic of vocal, rhythm and guitar. One of the all time greats
Pantera - This Love!!!!
This song is from the perspective of a slave, who amongst others has spent years building a tower for someone called “The Wizard” who they believe will climb to the top and fly to the stars, but when he finally does climb to the top he jumps and falls to his death. Then all of these people who believed are lost after spending years building something for nothing.
Gates of Babylon- Rainbow
When they played it live back then, the song was 16 minutes long because of the solo!!! Epic songs should be long!!!
Also, from Genius.com : "The start of Rainbow’s epic, a tale of a wizard who believed he could fly. People believe in the wizard and are enslaved in order to build a tower in harsh conditions in the desert so he can fly, during which many die. When the tower is finally erected the wizard climbs the tower only to fall to his death instead of flying, and the slaves feel lost until they see a ‘Rainbow Rising’ (the album title) on the horizon. This then leads onto the final song on the album ‘A Light in the Black’, in which people re-find their purpose after a light in the sky appears.
The song is a sweeping narrative about the dangers of hubris - its human costs, its ultimate, doomed folly, and what happens in its wake."
i'm led to believe Ronnie's lyrics was inspired by the bible's account of Nimrod, and the tower of babel
Shit, I think that you're right. Good call!
Dio's lyrics are usually medieval fantasy stuff, but I think that this one goes a little deeper.
Judas Priest - Victim of Changes!
Absolutely, but the Unleashed version.
Cameron Smith nah mudd club 1979 live is ridiculous
THey should also react to the new album, I thought it was killer
The song is from the perspective of a slave forced to build the tower for the wizard, so the wizard can jump from the top and fly, but then "time standing still, and there's blood on the sand" the wizard doesn't fly, and the slaves are in shock from everything they were working towards being rendered worthless.
A bit like the tower of Babel in the Bible.
I believe it's an astronomer because back then they believed astronomers used magic
I think that guitar solo was amazing it was breathtaking in a masterpiece💪🏼🤟🤟🤟🤟
Death-Scavenger of human sorrow.
They don't want all harsh vocals.
Sonne, by Rammstein. The video is amazing and I think you would like the song. It doesn't have many transitions, but the groove is awesome.
I started watching you guys about a month ago and I just can't get enough! I turn everyone I know on to you guys, I love the appreciation you guys have for music and you just make me rethink everything. Much respect to you guys!
I love watching you guys enjoy this stuff!!! Especially with your responses being so raw and genuine. Good Work.
Deep Purple - Child in Time
Good call
My wishlist:
Angra - Nothing To Say
Blind Guardian - Time Stands Still (At The Iron Hill)
Helloween - Ride The Sky
Iron Savior - The Savior
Judas Priest - The Sentinel
Nightwish - Ghost Love Score
Symphony X - Of Sins And Shadows
Virgin Steele - The Burning of Rome
Type O Negative - Black N. 1
Blind Guardian the bards of metal
That music was epic. None of of those songs were too long. They tell a story - not like the simplistic forms of music today.
You two are just a heck of a lot of fun to watch! I'll have to check out some of your reactions to things I have never heard before.
The guitarist is Ritchie Blackmore, who's also the guitarist for Deep Purple. Living legend.
RAINBOW was part of the forefront of Heavy Metal. Heavy Metal at the time had the Widest Wings with which to soar. There were no boundaries and no genres.
love you guys! the basic story of the song is that this wizard made his people create a structure so high that he could "rise" to heaven. He tries, and he falls and dies.
I've been on a Lost In Vegas marathon for a couple hours now, love the videos! I'm a new sub and I'll keep up from now on for sure.
Pantera - Cemetery Gates!
Savatage -Hall of the Mountain King
tolkienismaster or gutter bullet
Wake of the Magellan (not sure how you spell that lol)
Chance
Morphine child
so sad they're not gonna do this anytime soon just because it's not popular. the definition of underrated imo
btw Morphine Child is a masterpiece
Oh hell yes hall of the mountain king
I suggest Roundabout by Yes. I think you'l love the bass groove.
Roy Wickiser Played the bass line all the way thru on mushrooms and beer once. "Once!" Never happened again.😞
Another example of the powers of mushrooms.
Schindleria praematurus off of the same album has the REAL bass groove!
Harry Bendtsen knows what he's talking about.
. . . . . to be continued. ..
Back after a year. Happy you guys are going even stronger than ever. Well deserved
Death - Crystal Mountain
Megadeth - Hangar 18
Pantera - Cemetery Gates
Mercyful Fate - Evil
great choices
Personally I would do Satan’s Fall or Come to the Sabbath for mercyful fate but Evil is still a great selection.
Felix Russell something else?
Felix Russell 😂😂its a Joke.cemetery gates! Its fantástic!!
@@jordanforbes149 OH...N SATEN WILL EVENTUALLY ..YEP/FALL.
Rainbow: Man on the Silver Mountain.
Thank you guys very much for reacting to my favorite heavy metal song of all time. I asked about it at least 9 months ago but I'm glad u guys did it! Thanks again!
Top blokes loving the reviews gents you are listening to the sounds of my youth. Keep it up!
Symphony X - Paradise Lost
Death - Spirit Crusher!!
Scorpions - Sails of Charon
Oh my god I love this song, this is an amazing song to run to. When you're hitting your stride and those climatic vocals come on, it's amazing. Great reviews mates.
Deep Purple "Highway Star"
J Cobain I can see them liking it. Lots of movement, good beat, face-melting organ solo.... (Never thought I'd describe an organ solo that way but there it is...)
I love Child in Time. Don't think they'll like it though
Yeeeeeessss!!!
Ritchie Blackmore (the guitarist) would NEVER play a guitar solo too long (to him). He battled all the time with his band mates in the bands he was in.
Check out "Burn" by Deep Purple.
bigfatno Burn's solo is sooo good.
Metallica actually covered this song as a medley with Rainbow's "Kill the King", "A Light in the Black" and "Tarot Woman". It sounds absolutely awesome! They did it as part of an album saluting Ronnie James after his passing.
Should've done Rainbow's "Man on the Silver Mountain"
Stargazer is one of those classic songs that's almost composed rather than written, on of the greatest rock songs of all time.
Been a while since y'all have reacted to some Priest, so I'm gonna recommend Judas Priest - Victim Of Changes or Beyond The Realms of Death.
I just listened to some old JP two nights ago. These songs included.Psych! :)
The live version of Victim of Changes from the British Steel live performances was probably the best rendition of the song.
Type O Negative - Black No.1- Unedited version!!!❤️😁 you will like it! 😁
They are definitely past due for some Type O. They sound like nothing they've listened to so far.
andreagail83 Hey I’ve been requesting Nettie and Green Light so hopefully something soon. Definitely one of my all time favorites
Genesis Von Keglar yes! those are good options too, but I think maybe they should start with Black No.1 just to get a feel for Type O... but lets keep suggesting so they react to something from Type O lol 😁
andreagail83 absolutely. I love Black no. 1 but I was afraid they would pull up the extremely edited/shortened version.
Genesis Von Keglar ah right... ok I’ll edit my comment... if they see this comment... George and Ryan do the unedited version! I repeat... unedited version! 😁
One of my all time favorite songs. Thank you for reviewing/reacting on this one.
Love you guys! This made me laugh. Such a great reaction. Stargazer is defo an epic. Remember listening to it at my mate’s house very early 80s. Dio well what can you say? Peace
Ozzy Osbourne-Diary Of A Madman!!
Seriously check it out! It’s got classical elements and is Randy Rhoads’ best song (in my opinion). There’s so much going on with it and I think you guys would enjoy it.
carbajal8283 perfect song man
Deep Purple - Highway Star
Dorchie Productions yes highway star is a VERY BADASS song. Please give it a listen.
I requested this too! I think they'll be all over it.
Been trying myself for this one!
I love you guys, the ads leading into your reactions are even interesting. Can't wait for you to discover FNM & COC. KEEP ON KEEPING ON!!!!
Now you guys need to do Gates of Babylon- Rainbow!
Dio was such an incredible singer. RIP
Y'all do great, entertaining vids. Great stuff folks.
Love you guys! Reminds me of how much I love and miss this music!
Type O Negative - Black no. 1 or Everything Dies
Gojira - The Art of Dying
To the top with this one. We need some Type O up in this bitch.
Good choice! The combo of Dio and Ritchie Blackmore (former Deep Purple guitarist) is rock and roll electricity. There was no guarantee that Rainbow was going to succeed but man, they hit it out of the park with this one.
Also, lol on "constant climax!" 🤣🤣🤣
LOL!
Ritchie letting Ronnie go was his downfall
aaronstallard Agreed!
Not to mention legendary drummer Cozy Powell.
Hi aaronstallard, I always wondered what they could have done together. Great combo indeed! But they both have such similar styles that perhaps they felt it was TOO good. ? They both went on and continued being very musically creative. :)
You guys are awesome!!! Keep doing what you do!
Ritchie Blackmore on guitar guys nuff said.🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
Death - Spirit Crusher
Never clicked so fast! RIP Dio
Magic! Always in DIO We Trust! hehehe.....
good new year from germany for u two, for your family and good health for all ever.
What I love most is watching you both bobbing to the rythm like a couple of die hard head banger's. Lol, made my day! Thanks.
YESSSS! I've waited ages for this one. Thank you.
Judas Priest - Victim of Changes
Great ... love you guys! Lots of humor in your reactions
Great review of a great song!!! I see in the comments several mentions of Gates Of Babylon and I definitely recommend that, it's my favourite Rainbow song \m/
death - the philosopher
Pantera - Cemetary Gates
It's been done, but the guys found one of Phil's racist rants so it's never been released.
lol that's funny. One of? xD
Jonathan Johnson “if it was the other way around” ok no don’t do that dude
Pantera "Hollow" from the "Vulgar Display Of Power" record !😎
yeah
I turned off this reaction when they said the guitar solo was too much. They literally can’t process that much information at once.
people with different opinions, imagine that.
thank god for channels like this that keep quality content alive on youtube
Yeah Ryan that riff is definitely the sound of the times. Fun song, Dio is a legend.
FAITH NO MORE!!!
That drummer is a rock legend ! Cozy RIP.
maybe a little late to comment this but the guitar solo becomes more relevant once you realize the meaning of the song and after listening again you realize that the solo is basically the rise and fall of the wizard from the tower
This is a classic...but some of us still think "Gates Of Babylon" is the ultimate Dio vocal masterpiece. Sleep With The Devil...and then you must pay!!
I would HOPE so, but they thought "Stargazer" was too long, and even the solo too long, and most of us CRAVE Blackmore to solo forever ;).
What's actually funny is that Dio has stated in an interview that he doesn't like this song because Ritchie's solo was too long. He really hated Ritchie lol
Gates of Babylon is the ultimate Blackmore solo, even better than anything Purple did. Amazing chord changes. Still prefer Stargazer for Dio's vocal
@@mybluguitar6051: He grew to hate Ritchie based on how he treated the never ending stream of musicians that went through Rainbow...
The intro and the solo of Gates of Babylon is fenomenal, but Stargazer have some special. Dio's vocal is something from another world.
A Light in the Black by Rainbow. It's the sequel to Stargazer and fits in more with what Ryan said about the hero finally coming out of darkness.
The Undertaker I never knew light in the Black was a sequel to stargazer but that makes a lot of sense
Yeah if you listen to A Light in the Black's lyrics, you hear him singing about the journey back home and the memory of serving the wizard. He reflects on time wasted and when he finally makes it home, he sees the star the wizard was looking for.
Yes! I actually suggested that one but they went with Stargazer because it had more requests. They should do that in the future.
@ruben I hadn't thought Tarot Woman as apart of that but that kinda makes sense if you put Tarot Woman at the beginning with lines like, "I'll never return, how do you know Tarot Woman?"
I love your reactions. You really feel the music! Your reactions are almost as passionate as the music Lol.
Loving the channel, Lost In Vegas! You guys are pretty awesome! I have a suggestion - 'Temple of the King' by Rainbow. Or 'I Want Out' by Helloween. Thanks and keep up the fantastic work!
Judas Priest - Victim of Changes / Beyond the Realms of Death
Come on guys!! You really need to give one of these a shot. See what the Metal Gods were like back in the 70s and how they refined metal as we know it.
Tarek Jayde Rahman Couldn't have picked two better songs from their collection. I really hope they react to one of these two!
