    Yankee fan here. Jeter was already announced and, predictably, I was ecstatic and moved. I was thinking, how could this day get any better?
    Then this happened. Walker should have been first ballot and it was absolutely disgusting that it took the voters this long to get him in. When Walker was announced, I screamed at the top of my lungs, “YES!!!!”
    Even when my all time favorite player got in, it’s always oh-so satisfying to see someone finally get in who was long deserving.

    I like walker as a player but he’s not a HOF player. Over 100 RBI 5 times in 17 years and only played over a 140 games in a season 5 times. What I remember most about him was that he was always on the DL. Nice man, good player, not an all time great.

    • @KardiFan2000
      @KardiFan2000 Před 4 lety

      He had a higher career WAR than Jeter, despite the fact that Jeter played 4 more seasons than him. Even his injuries couldn't prevent him from being immortalized as one of the most productive all-around players of all time.

  • @TheSaintFrenzy
    @TheSaintFrenzy Před 4 lety +1

    He reminds of players like Will Clark, Don Mattingly, Frank White, Ruben Sierra. Juan Gonzales, Joe Carter, Albert Belle, Chuck Knoblauch, Gary Gaetti, Darryl Strawberry, Devon White, Andruw Jones, David Justice......with an honorable mention to Wally Joyner.
    All good players. All memorable. But I just don't see him and the above mentioned as HOF level.

    • @ColwellNC1309
      @ColwellNC1309 Před 4 lety +1

      Great list of players you named there!

    • @stevendeckert6373
      @stevendeckert6373 Před 4 lety +2

      Walker has almost twice the career WAR of Knoblauch, David Justice and almost four times the career WAR of Joe Carter. Uh, yeah...You are right that those other guys are not HOF level but wrong that Walker is not HOF level. Also, I'm a Twins fan so no dog in this fight.

    • @TheSaintFrenzy
      @TheSaintFrenzy Před 4 lety

      @@stevendeckert6373My judgement here isn't on a specific stat. But on overall career. Walkers stats are very similar to the above mentioned. If we're to review his career numbers I'm just not seeing HOF. They're overall similar to the above mentioned careers. Walker no doubt has an honorable career, and had some excellent years. He's just not a hall of fame special and it's easy to see why he just squeaked in. He wasn't slighted one bit, he's now just very lucky.
      Now Dereck Jeter getting in the HOF is awesome and makes sense. He belongs there with other legends. Like Brett, Boggs, Ripken, Smith, Sandberg, Yount, Molitor, Henderson, Gwynn etc. They all had good "WAR" with legendary numbers behind'em.

    • @stevendeckert6373
      @stevendeckert6373 Před 4 lety +1

      @@TheSaintFrenzy war measures value of overall career. It's not a stat.

    • @TheSaintFrenzy
      @TheSaintFrenzy Před 4 lety

      @@stevendeckert6373I get ya, but Larry Walkers numbers just don't merit the hall. If that was the case others with similar careers and much more post season success would be there too. The Hall of Fame belongs to the elite and remarkable, not just good ball players that have our affections.
