  • I just picked up a Weber Original Kettle Premium Charcoal Grill. Watch me unbox it, assemble it, and make a bonehead move that I should have seen coming. DOH! Watch the entire video before you begin assembly so you don't duplicate my mistake :)

    I assembled by the exact same way and dealt with it for years, then I was pulling my grill it’s in my garage and the legs came off (18” kettle “) and when I assembled it the correct way, it made a world of difference in wheeling it. I am now planning on buying a bigger kettle

    I appreciate this video, I also made your “doofus mistake” because I was watching your video and I just want to say it was a quick 2 minute fix for me. Those pop out metal things went in and out much easier than they did for you. Maybe Weber saw your video and fixed that issue. It was definitely worth it for me to fix it because I’ve got about twenty feet to pull it to where I’m going to be grilling. Thanks for this though, it saved me half the time reading the manual. 😅

    Huge tip. When you put this thing together...Get a drill and some metal screws...and screw the ashe catcher support and the legs to the grill. It will never fall apart on you! If you don't do that...Good luck. Other than that...It's a great grill!

    Ry, thanks for the video. We got our Webber grill around the Thanksgiving time frame. I also had issues with the legs and the pin joints, all three legs. After watching your video, I ran outside, ripped the cover off, only to find my handle is aligned properly to the rest of the grill. So, I’m thinking that Weber has an issue with the legs. And like you, I don’t feel that it is any big deal.

    Thanks for the video, as it was very helpful since the unit did not come with instructions, but only a guide. Lessons learned from your video; I slide the triangular pieces into the legs first then lowered each leg down into the holes of the kettle that stabilizes the legs (the opposite of your method) . I would caution to make sure that the hook on the holder is facing up and that the grids are facing up as well so when flipped over all is upright.
    Thanks again...

    I have been fighting with the legs fo an hour now, walked off 5 times frustrated ... the system for the legs is def a quality control issue. The clip slides up in the leg is the problem , instead of staying put to protrude out when you push down on the leg. So frustrating. I stopped for now to calm down lol 😂

    Ry, thanks for the video. I figure out why the pins are not coming out through the holes when installing the legs: when you put the pins inside the leg (great idea) make sure they are in the exact same position as they were when you initially attached them to the grill. Mine where not coming out also but I flip them over inside the leg and they all work. I hope I explained myself.

    Great Video. I had the same problem with the little pin not wanting to come out of the hole. I used a rubber mallet. I held the wheel so it wouldn’t and tapped until the leg went far enough for the pin to pop out of the hole. I placed a folded face cloth on the leg with no wheel and tapped it the same way. I got all three in. Weber might adjust the directions. I enjoyed your video and it helped me. I would have appreciated actual written directions from Weber ...

    • @CookingWithRy
      @CookingWithRy  Před 7 lety +1

      In looking at it, without taking it apart to try, I couldn't see any difference. The holes lined up perfectly, but the pins would shift every time inside the leg. If the clips had some way to resist twisting inside the leg, it would work fine, I believe. I suppose I could have MacGyvered a way to make that happen, but it'll just had to be a conversation piece while I'm cooking : "Hey, look what I did..." :)

    your video was very helpfully but I REALLY wished you clipped out your mistake because I followed EVERYTHING you said.

      Yeah, that's why I put the note in the description to watch the entire video before beginning assembly. I'd rather leave the mistake in so others see it and DON'T do it, because it's very easy to do :)

      I understand. I wasn't really commenting are your assembly just reviews I have seen elsewhere on assembling the weber kettle. Really like your videos. You convinced me to upgrade to master touch in comparison video.

    don’t assemble the grill how this guy did it… he put the legs on wrong… don’t attach the wheels until after you install the legs to the bottoms of the grill mine locked in place easy… i followed his method and got frustrated until i read the directions the clips go in the legs and then the legs go in and clip in easily

    I'm sorry Weber but your assembly cartoons are a joke...your grill is great, probably the best for that kind of money, but for the love of the tiny Jesus why make it so difficult? thanks for the video, well done
