Lyng and District Model Railway - Episode 62 - A New Years Day update

- In this video I demonstrate how I have added some extra's to the layout to enhance the overall look. I have added lighting into the buildings and the mine, and give out two shout outs for othe rmnodellers channels who I have been following, Nat at Austin Valley @AVMR66 and Allan at Hayridge @hayridgemodelrail4046.

No problem with the shout out Nat - Stephen from @elevenhome did the same for me and increased my subs considerably which has helped me in turn to enjoy other modellers channels!

Happy New Year Steve! I'm always amazed at how much lighting adds to a layout, and the lit buildings combined with the carriages look fantastic! I'm looking forward to seeing what you get up to in 2024! All the best, Ian.
Cheers Ian - things should move quickly for awhile as I still have all my models from the original build so the town scene should go down quickly. I just need to build up my stock of vehicles and people to populate it!

I was surprised how much difference it made on my layout when I started putting figures on, especially on platforms. The views of the trains running around with the lighting were very atmospheric. You must be pleased with how much you have achieved already. Look forward to seeing the next video. Happy new Year Stephen
Thanks Stephen - I am pleased with the progress so far and I suppose that's down to trying to stick to the same area and concentrating on one area at a time, and with a lot of patience. Things should move quickly now, as I have still got all my terraced houses from the first layout so the town should be able to be placed pretty quickly - if I can make my mind up as to where exactly it will go.

Happy New Year ! You've certainly added plenty of detail which really brings the layout to life. Really like the station - platforms look just right in terms of width and with the addition of figures everything is tied together. How have fixed the figures - I used to glue them but now use Tacky Wax - so easy to remove them for dusting the platform or just repositioning them for a bit of a change. Enjoyed the running session to boot. Cheers Euan
Hi Euan - yes I have had to go through the painful process of trying to glue them onto clear plastic squares (a hint I was given when I first started adding figures) but I never considered sticky wax and I have a jar of it on the shelf! My god this could be a game changer and save me glueing my fingers together! Cheers and thanks for the kind comment.

Hi Colin - thank you for the kind comment. I was able to do a lot of work at the kitchen table whilst recovering from the op, and once the buildings were placed it was a case of adding the detail. It also helped that I commandeered the son in law while he was here for xmas to do the under bench crawling and wiring!
