  • In this video I detail how I completed the station scene and road scene just in front. I finally decide on a name for the station taken from my home town of Aberafan and the village I live in now, Lyng - and call it "Aberlyng Junction". I make my own signboards for the station and add more lights. Any and all comments are welcome, and I will reply to all of them, even if you dislike the a particular aspect of the video. If you do like it please comment and share, and subscribe if you want to follow any future progress.

Hi Steve the station master has been dead heading his flower's they look great 😂😂😂😂😂. Your plans of the flower's and grass on the other side of the road outside the station look amazing. Have a good week. Colin

THanks Colin - it was your quip re the station master that inspired me as well as remembering Port Talbot Parkway station's attempts to brighten itself up in the 70's that helped.

Greetings Aberlyng and hello Steve 🐲🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿👋 Wow, that Kitty Cat 🐱 did an incredible job around the station 😍 The flow of the road and addition of memorial and flower 🌼 garden made an excellent entrance scene 👏👏👏 Those paws 🐾 must have such a fine touch 🏆 Excellent update, very best wishes from the Emerald Isle ☘️

Ha these cats are very nimble when they want to be - I think she is just setting me up for an extra litter tray! LOved all the GWR stock you showed yesterday by the way!

The Aberlyng Junction station is looking very good Steve. It is surprising how long it can take to work in quite a small area but so nice when you step back and you've created a part of the layout. I liked the slide show of still shots at the end. You have some lovely dioramas already in different parts of the layout. Stephen

Thanks Stephen, I am quite pleased with the results when photographed in close up. The video doesn't do the scenes a great deal of good but when photographed with the camera it all looks much better. The second time around I am taking much more care and paying attention. I bought one of the wet pad paint box's, it really does help when painting the small figures. Thanks for that tip.

Cheers Mark - that small section took over a week to do but it was worth it. The addition of figures and cars does help a great deal though.

Hi Steve, It’s all coming along very nicely, you’re as much quicker worker than me!!!!
I like the way you’ve done the memorial and the Municipal flower beds very effective.
I don’t know of many N scale police stations, i know Scenecraft do a low relief one and there are one or two on eBay which are older kits by BILT EEZI maybe worth a look.
Looking forward to more board being covered in the next episode, cheers Steve, John

Thanks John - don't forget I have a much smaller area to work in than you! I'm still so jealous of the large layout you have lol.

Hi Steve! It's nice to put a name to a place! You're making some astonishing progress on the scenic side of the layout! I'd be having kittens if any cat of mine began patrolling on top of the layout though! Lol! Loved the flower beds you put in next to the taxi rank! Gonna have to pinch that idea for somewhere on Shelfington eventually! Looking forward to the next update already! All the best, Ian.

Cheers Ian - don't forget most of the models I have already built for the first layout so they just get put in as is. I already had most of the scenic stuff ready, just added a load of vehicles from Ebay and some bits from Great Eastern Model Railway shop. The cat is very delicate when walking around the layout - she loves to come in when the heater is on as the shed is quite warm! Scarpers when the dogs come in though! I'm glad I can offer some ideas - its what they community is for - showing and sharing ideas.
      Regards
      Steve
