Great video. My wife is not an outdoor camper. We are hotel campers. We travel in an SUV. We generally stay at hotels in the $50-$100 per night range if it is just overnight. Free breakfast is a plus. If we stay long term we generally rent a condo. Usually we can get a week for $500-$800 for a 1 or 2 bedroom unit with a full kitchen. We travel with a 12 volt cooler to bring our own food and my wife brings her rice cooker/insta pot. My rule is that whatever we bring has to all fit on a hotel luggage cart and only take one trip up to the room. We almost always drive and enjoy the sights along the trip. We used to own conversion vans, but they have become expensive and hard to find. They were great with the kids. Now since we are retired, we generally travel off season to avoid crowds. We stayed in Atlantic City 2 years ago and had a great time. Enjoy your stay. With the current restrictions though we are glad to stay safe at home.
Thanks for sharing Richard. We still do enjoy trips that do not involve the RV.
Izzy
Another big factor for us is that you'd need to pay pet fees in a hotel which can add up since we have two dogs. With pets, there is never a fee if using your own RV.
Long time RVer here, the bottom line is: They are two different lifestyles. Either can be cheaper than the other. They both have advantages and disadvantages. RV advantages add up when you have kids and pets to bring. Hotel advantages add up when you travel a long distance each trip OR when you only travel a couple weeks or weekends per year. The RV depreciation is the same sitting or traveling. A new diesel motorhome is the most expensive method of travel; plus the depreciation is over $40k the first year. A used travel trailer is the cheapest way to vacation. 90% of all RV owners would be financially ahead if they rented instead of bought new; this includes me (as full honesty and disclosure) Over 75% of new motorhomes will spend more time in the shop in the first 2 years than they will on the road; regardless of brand. It is not uncommon to wait a month or more for a warranty appointment, then to wait weeks for the parts. The dealers know this, the salesmen know this, experienced RVers know this. The factory will not extend your warranty "just because it sat in the shop for 7 months of it's first year waiting to get fixed"
Good points Brian. Thanks for watching! - MJ
At last...an honest approach to an age old debate. Using basic numbers you must travel 70 nights a year to make any sense out of the cost of even a cheap travel trailer. I do not know many working folks that can travel over 2 months per year. Now that we are retired we travel as much as we want in very nice hotels, condos and cabins. In the world today it is easier to make a hotel reservation than a campground reservation. Life is good!
We traveled for the first 4 years of retirement in our Lexus staying in Hotels and with family and while the ride was comfortable we traveled with our small dog and finding Pet friendly hotels was not always available. This year we moved up to a Motorhome for the majority of our traveling. We have had the occasion to camp via Marriotts but it just reminded me why we love our Motorhome. No lugging luggage in and out every couple of days and as you mentioned we don’t eat as well when not in the RV. We have also duplicated all of our household essentials in the RV so packing and unloading in kept to a minimum. We also can’t wait to start Cruising again. Perhaps an Endless RVing Cruise Meet Up is in the furtive. 😁👍
Oooo an ERV cruise. That would be awesome - maybe one day once things are back to normal. :) - MJ
Do the opposite of the crowds and your travels will be more enjoyable and less expense. Since 2020 the full time, van dwellers, you tubers, remote workers, and COVID crowds have invaded the camping world and parks increasing the costs and difficulty of everything. Gas prices high. Repairs and maintenance drastically increased. Sold the RV for more than we paid. Less travel domestically, now that international destinations have reopened. Thankful we traveled a lot worldwide prior to 2020. When the popularity and crowds go down drastically will look at it again. Waiting for E-RVs to reduce travel costs.
I prefer the RV and just having all your belongings with you. Not having to carry stuff up and down the hallways. We can all stretch out and relax in our own areas in the coach. Just pull over and relax while traveling, I much rather be in the RV vs. a Hotel.
We love having a home rolling down the road. Thanks for watching and the comment.
Izzy
My wife has a problem clearing her ears when flying so we can't fly anywhere over two hours. We use to travel by car, but having to carry your bags in and out every day gets old very fast. We have a class A diesel pusher. We love traveling in it. Everything is hung up or put away before we leave. We have the room to carry warm weather and cold weather clothes along with something nice for going out in. We just didn't do this traveling by any other means. We have stayed in dirty hotel rooms on many occasions. Our RV is always clean because I do it. I know exactly who slept in the bed last and when the sheets were changed last. Besides TV we have a DVD player and we usually carry about 30 movies with us or no matter where we go there is always a Redbox if we want to rent a movie. We have a washer and dryer onboard so laundry is never a problem. We tow our car so we even if we are on a travel day all we need is a parking lot and we can have the car unhooked in two minutes and off we go exploring. Besides America there is also Canada. Some people RV in Mexico, but that is not in my comfort zone.
We agree with all your points. Thanks for sharing.
Izzy
Good video I am looking for the answer🔥
Great video ,very good points. Thank you as always Rv travel is more relaxing and no rigid time schedules
Good Point Gus
Thanks for watching.
Izzy
You hit the nail on the head, in our RV, we know who has been using the toilet and who has slept in the bed. Still travel by air, Europe is very nice, Austria is our fave, but in the COVID environment, nice to get away, even for a weekend!
Absolutely! Thanks Ted. - MJ
I love that my camper is mine. Strangers have not been sleeping in my bed. You are right though, there are many amazing experiences I have had that I couldn't have done with the rv. Like most things in life balance is key. Great video. Thank you for sharing.
Yes Connie. We love our RV but we also love to travel outside the US. Thanks for watching
Izzy
Great points! A large factor for us is boondocking. Being able to camp out in the middle of nowhere, play all day in the dust, bugs, and trees, then go inside and take a nice warm shower. Turning up the heat on a cold, snowy/drizzly night out in the forest and settling down in a nice comfortable bed. It’s certainly glamping, but those things are hard to put a price on. 😎
We agree. Thanks for sharing.
Izzy
We Love to Cruise too, and we own a couple time shares also. In fact we’re using one this week and the Super C is at home. But it’s hard to beat traveling in the Motorhome!! Meet and greet on a cruise ship sounds like fun, We’re in !!!
Nice enjoy your timeshare! Yes, a cruise meetup would be fabulous! - MJ
Great video, MJ and Izzy. We will world-travel as well, but for now North America is a huge, beautiful expanse. We're looking at upgrading to a diesel pusher early in 2021....so, look out, USA! Thanks for the video!
Thanks for sharing guys.
Izzy
Love the hat Izzy! Keep up the good work guys.
Some one gave it to me out in Indiana 😉
Izzy
I watched this video before I love it because you are showing the difference between hotels and camping. I would pick camping because of covid right now.
Because too many people might be I. Hotel rooms and eat out and camping you aren’t around too many people and and can cook your own food. And you don’t have to worry about bed bugs. Thank you for the video. See you soon!
We will ALWAYS take RVing over hotels when possible! Exactly about Covid, like you said. It's safer in an RV. - MJ
There is no price on memories, plus you don’t worry who slept in you bed, or has the room been cleaned. I rather travel in a RV. I love your videos, please keep them up.
Thanks William. We love our RV but we love the Caribbean also!!
Izzy
For years travelled to dog trials and shows and stayed in hotels. Hauling suitcases and dog crates from the car. The bell boy cart was full with multiple trips back and forth. Then once settled in my room it was time to take dogs out for walks. 😩😜 Sometimes long hallways, stairs or elevators at midnight. Purchased a small motorhome this year. IM IN HEAVEN! I am kicking myself for not doing this sooner. It's convenient and so much more fun! Dogs are happier too. Packing to go away for a weekend is fast! Everything is already in the rv. All I need are some clothes and some food. That's it! I'm am rver for life!
Awesome glad you find your perfect fit. Thanks for sharing.
Izzy
Hi again Izzy and MJ and Jason!
I wanted to wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving!!🦃🍽 I love you guys!
Thank you Sherri. :) Happy Thanksgiving to you as well! - MJ
We loved the talk- thanks
Thanks Ed
We've never been big Travelers but when we did we always stayed in motels. We bought an RV so we could take more camping trips.. Have her own bed and we found it was cheaper and staying in motels. But we still like going to restaurants and eating out.
Thanks for sharing Denny.
Izzy
It's all about the options and trade offs, we love touring in our Class B.... traveling in a Class B is like driving a "shrunken head" Class A.. we're only 23 feet long.... much narrower than anything else, but, we can park just about anywhere and get 18 to 20 MPG..
You're right about repairs, it can be an unexpected expense.... especially on a trip...it happens. But, having your own motorhome and private coach with all the amenities of home is very relaxing and safer to travel. And, boondocking is so easy in the Class B...
We pre-pepare meals before we go and even with the limited cooking of the microwave/convection oven and gas range it works fine.
I enjoyed your presentation..so true that you'll never recover the out of pocket cost remember that it's a different experience than being in hotels; it's more spontaneous and adventurous... We have discovered more "roadside attractions" than we ever imagined.....
Thank you for doing these videos 😊....
Yes Mark there are always trade offs. As long as people understand what those trade offs are then they can make an educated decision. Thanks for watching.
Izzy
We still stay at hotels even though we own a nice RV. The bed comfort in hotels is a roll of the dice. We generally stay at La Quinta because we travel with dogs and they're pet friendly. However, we also love doing cruises as well. But lately that hasn't happened and over the past 4-5 yrs it's been risky. I got one from a friend that Izzy will like. "Cruise ship - Petrie dish on water."
This is very True Roy. We love RVing but I’m looking forward to traveling outside the US again!!
Thanks for watching
Izzy
Hotels in general are absolutely disgusting unless you pay big money to stay at five star accommodations.. but then again my wife and I have stayed at some pretty sketchy rv resorts also..
It is nice so sleep in your own bed and eat your own food.. and personal for my wife and I, we are way more comfortable in our rv!! Safe travels!!
We agree thanks for watching and the comment.
Izzy
Good information. We also miss cruising
Hopefully we can get back on a ship soon Fidel.
Thanks for watching.
Izzy
I’m with y’all, I’ve only stayed in a hotel maybe 5 times since I bought my first RV over three years ago, it’s not about the cost but the experience!!!
Exactly! :) - MJ
10 years with a 34foot Allegro Bay. It's nice to have a bathroom availability. Great to get something to eat anytime. Filled up 2 lanyards with tie tacks from all the places we visited.
Outstanding video. My wife and I love our RV, but we also love to cruise. Trying to see as much of God’s green earth before we leave this earth. Thanks for your perspective.
We love cruising for sure. Thanks for watching and the comment.
Izzy
Our 5th Wheel is in a permanent spot in a campground on the Crystal Coast of North Carolina. During COVID and being in the older crowd, it has been a blessing to go to our Other home. I agree it's rather difficult to go to Aruba in one's RV. Finally I agree one doesn't save money RVing, it's a choice of lifestyle. If you have never been to the Crystal Coast of North Carolina, come on down. It's the less crowded, less expensive ,but in my mind more beautiful version of the well known Outer Banks.
Wow thanks for sharing. We may check that out next season.
Izzy
"For you's Minimilist" ie Teardroppers, LOL :)
Have Tab 400 - GMC Canyon Duramax TV. Love to boondock, S and SW sessionally and CC to visit son in Portland OR in summer months and NW coast. I can travel for ever, but after 2 or even 3 weeks the wife becomes more vocal about reminding me of the 2001 Prevost Royale I was last looking at. Our solution is fly in and fly outs from cheap one way airport destinations; Denver, Phoenix, Portland, Chicago to get home to Madison WI. This way marital bliss is mantained, I travel to my hearts content on my boondock budget (retirement) and wife gets to snuggle with grandkids every 2-3 weeks and hubby in that "minimilistic/tear drop camper :). Love yah guys!
Thanks John. I don’t think we would survive in the Tab lol, but we know many like you that love it. Thanks for sharing.
Izzy
#3 should include Canada, Alaska, and mexico
👍
Health is BIG. I look forward to having an RV and bringing my own food. As a Type 1 diabetic, I’ve had some bad experiences eating out and those expertises are worse when you are away from home. I’m surprised you didn’t mention being able to travel with pets. I hate leaving my dog behind at a kennel. 30 years ago we left our dog with the breeder thinking she would be safe; however, she fell down a flight of stairs, punctured a lung and died.
Sorry to hear about that David. We do bring our pets with us a lot, but sometimes a break from them is nice also. We are fortunate to have a great dog sitter (my sister!)
Izzy
I agree with everything you said. I work with the airlines and I stay in hotels half the month. The last thing I want to do when I go on vacation is stay in a hotel.
We love the hotel when we leave the US other than that the motorhome is our 1st choice.
Izzy
I have a 28ft trailer and for me it is the only way I will travel in the US. It give me peace of mind knowing I have everything I need.
Definitely. Stay safe. 👍 - MJ
I knew I liked you guys. Then I heard you say your vegan... Now I love you guys! Great video.
Thanks Olivia.
Izzy
Great video - we got into RVing this year and love it but also look forward to some plane trips once this pandemic is over
We love both and we love traveling outside the US also. Thanks for watching.
Izzy
I like the conveniece of permenent plumbing
That is a nice thing to have. Thanks for watching Sally.
Izzy
Great video. I would not like to stay while COVID is around in Hotels or motels. Also bed bugs. I would Rv. Thank you so much Izzy and MJ. Nice idea rving for Thanksgiving. I will see you soon. Have a great day. Stay safe.
Thanks Sherri enjoy your holiday.
We love to cruise also. I had planned a world cruise for the January after my wife retires. Now with the Ninja (Covid) cruising has stopped. Hopefully it will eventually return. Until then we are looking forward to “cruising in our house” across our great country.
We look forward to getting back on the road also. Thanks for sharing.
Izzy
I love my RV for all the reasons you stated. We have to winterize so we use hotels then. We just got back from a stay in a hotel. Eating out does not fit with my body
Thanks for sharing Peggy
Izzy
Hands down it's an RV for me. I love the thrill of stopping when I see something beautiful to explore. Motels creep me out. I'm a clean freak, can't sleep in a bed where others have slept.
Thanks for sharing. We also prefer the motorhome.
Just at the Tampa RV show and considering an RV. One item came to my mind is repairs. Which is easier to be repaired an RV or a car?
Car!
We own an RV because there's so many beautiful out of the way places in the country to see you can't even get close to in a hotel. Bonus is our Motorhome is like taking our home on the road. Hotel prices add up to if you stay for a week or more.
We agree we love our motorhome.
Izzy
You mention that you work out regularly when traveling in your RV. I’d be interested in knowing what your workout routine is. Do you carry any workout equipment with you? When we’re at places to bike or hike we like doing that, but if weather is bad or we’re just at an overnight spot on the way to somewhere, we don’t generally get any exercise. Maybe a video on this topic? Thanks.
ps. We love our instapot also. One in the RV and one at home.
We carry simple equipment,
Bands, powerblock dumbbells, some weight plates, Reebox step/ bench, perfect push-up and a yoga mat. We both enjoy running and also will utilize a playground if it’s available. We also have a gym membership to planet fitness which are spread all over the country.
Thank for watching.
Izzy
Our daughter lives in Ohio and we live in Massachusetts and traveling back and forth is much better in our RV verses flying, renting hotel and a car. We take two days to get there and relax on the way so when we arrive we are calm
That’s an awesome system. Thanks for sharing.
Izzy
What kind of camera do you use? The video was so sharp and clear! The quick zooms in and out were a little distracting, though.
Stay tuned as we have a video coming out soon regarding all our video equipment.
Izzy
We don't like flying, and I stayed in way to many hotels during my work career. I want my own bed, my own food, my own entertainment and of course to bring our little dog.
All good reasons to own an RV. Thanks for sharing Randall.
*We always weigh the options on short trips. But overall we would rather travel in our little home away from home*
Same here, except when we go overseas!!
Hope you guys have a great holiday.
Izzy
You hit the nail on the head! Going to a hotel, you really don’t know what’s on the carpet, how clean is the: bathroom, towels, sheets, bedding, TV remote. Ewww Just EWWW! In your RV, you know for sure and you take it with you. Even before the plague hit, we always traveled with disinfectant wipes for all hard surfaces and closely inspect for bedbugs and dirty linens before opening a suitcase. RV is the way to go if at all possible.
Yep that's how we brought bed bugs home. 😫 Much safer and cleaner on our RV. Thanks! - MJ
I would use a hotel room as needed but I prefer a RV because you can keep the RV as clean as you want and you can feel safe in your RV
All good points thanks for sharing.
Izzy
@@EndlessRVing you are welcome
We live in Germany and love to travel in our motorhome - for us it's the best way of independent travel.
Of couse, cooking (or eating frozen meals prepared at home) is essential since we do not like eating out too much (except in France).
Since we have purchased our own motorhome we use it as often as we can. Unfortunately here in Europe travelling is nearly impossible and mostly even forbidden at the moment.
We cannot wait to cross the pond again and to discover your fantastic country (again of course in a rental motorhome). Maybe we will even buy one in the US after having retired.
As you said, it does not make much sense to take the motorhome with you since shipping is very expensive and, even more important, there are no shops to fix European and vice versa Amercian motors.
By the way, if you intend to rent a motorhome in Germany, I can recommend you some good places here in the southern part of Germany (southern Bavaria close to the border to Austria and Italy).
Looking forward to your next videos. Have a good time
Conny
Awesome info. I think you will like American Motorhomes. Thanks for watching and the comment t.
Izzy
Hotel & Motel cleanliness worries me. I've taken a black light and found some pretty ugly stuff that glows. I don't want to put mine nor my family's in contact with that stuff. Body fluids are a turn off. Not to mention the pillow cases have mites in them. I learned to wrap the pillow in plastic and cover the mattress in plastic after taking a continuing education class for nurses. Since then I think I've only stayed in Hotels or Motels a couple of times and then only out of necessity. I'd rather sleep on the ground or in my vehicle. We have a 27' bumper pull trailer that is clean and safe. No bugs, no stains, and we own it outright. We bought it used from our dtr and her hubby. They are immaculate people so we feel safer in the trailer vs a Motel/Hotel. We pull it with an F350 diesel crew cab w/8' bed. I also own a 4 horse gooseneck trailer, that I bought new, with built out dressing room, bed, H2O, and other good stuff. Sometimes I take that when I go hang with my friends to camp and ride our horses. I feel safer with my own lodging and with the horses and dogs.
Yep agreed! Thanks for sharing, Ramona. - MJ
Should we "Stay To The End"? LOL, Love you guys and your experience! Here's a friendly comment and an,At a boy (and girl:) for the alga-theorems
Thanks for staying to the end!!
Izzy
Had you known back then what you know now
I thought that was Atlantic City and then I saw the half finished Ocean hotel. I bet it’s unbelievable when they can fill it, Covid permitting 😬🤗😬.
Its a beautiful hotel/casino. We really liked it. - MJ
RV/hotel. Rv wins as number 1 you do not know how clean the room and bedding are. RV you know as it is yours. Your right on about food and hotels are expensive as much as a tank or 3 of fuel. Flying, forget about it now. The country is HUGE and there are many, many things to do and check out. My wife is from Paterson, live 20+ years in the same house and her Grandfather built the church over in the Dutch side, the big one one the corner. She now loves the fact that to able to hook up the trailer and go anywhere we want, for now as we are in Commiefornia.
RV travel and lifestyle is where it's at. But, with all of that, sometimes staying in a nice hotel with a big bed and a bathtub, puts her in 7th heaven, especially after being on the road for awhile. something I plan for as a treat.
Which do you like better Paterson or Cali? Hard choice lol? Thanks for watching.
Izzy
@@EndlessRVing Neither!
I would rather take the RV. The USA is enough for me, maybe Canada. Thank you.
Thanks for sharing.
Izzy
We like all kinds of travel. We have an rv now because 20 years ago my oldest son wanted to fish & we bought a tent so we could camp nearby. My wife actually joined us & it became a family thing. Next a pop-up so she could be off the ground. Then a hybrid so we could have a bathroom. After 3 years of that now looking for something a little bigger with a bedroom and a shower big enough to fit my big butt. Can't wait to retire so we can do more of it.
Sounds like a great plan Wayne. Thanks for sharing.
Izzy
Where did you park in Atlantic City?
Local hotel parking.
Izzy
@@EndlessRVing Haven’t found one with sufficient height, I assume outdoor
We didn’t take the RV so it wasn’t an issue. 👍
@@EndlessRVing ah got it .. can’t wait to find a indoor safe spot there for class B. Thanks ..
@@MarkM-on4xk good luck! It’s tight around there
So basically, you both are normal regarding the fact that you can do both and not beholdened to RV lifestyle shaming? Bravo 👏👏👏

We are not giving up world travel anytime soon. Thanks for watching David.
Izzy
In a past life I traveled for business to make a living. Every Sunday night through Thursday night I was in a hotel. I was 20 years younger and had a blast but would prefer an RV. On 1 occasion in a hotel I was checked into a room that someone had already checked into. When I walked in that was awkward. On another occasion I had checked into a room and relaxed to watch Sunday night football when in walks a very nice lady that had been checked into my room also. It was kind of funny but also a little awkward. And finally, I was once told by a hotel employee at a popular chain hotel that they did not wash the comforters on the beds. So additional benefits of an RV are assured privacy and complete cleanliness of your surroundings.
Thanks for sharing Brad.

Hey Izzy, I just bought a 2015 2903!!! We're super excited and your videos have helped us a TON! I have a couple questions for you when you get a few min. What's a good email address or whats your FB messenger name? Thanks, Mark

Driving a truck is a job, not a vacation.
Sooooo, are you making a mistake? 😂😂😂. Haven’t been to AC in 30 years, nice resort tit look to be at! Enjoy!!
NO mistake here! lol - MJ
Right now RV Travel is the preferred election due to the situation. That is why this forum is exploding! I have traveled all over the world, and still prefer my RV to any 5 star hotel room. Thomyt
