Campervan vs Hotel Roadtrip battle- who will win?

- Having just returned from an amazing US road trip through Arizona and Utah, we reflect on how very different this adventure was in comparison to our regular campervan road trips. We chat about the pros and cons of what makes a good trip and put Campervans and Hotels in a head to head battle.
We are Richard and Jackie and we live in the UK. Having retired at 51, our plans include relocating to the Yorkshire Dales, developing our forever home and travelling the UK, Europe and eventually the world in our VW campervan Nelson.
You will soon realise that we are complete CZcams beginners with all the challenges of creating and publishing videos ahead of us, not to mention uploading when on the road.

It wasnt really a surprise that Campervan beat Hotel, but, your reasoning, as usual, was totally understandable and clearly explained.
We love vanlife, love the freedom, sometimes we mix a stay in a cottage / hotel mid van trip, best of both worlds. 😊

Obviously your van is an extension of your home and you love it.
My question is.
If you had hired a van in the US, how would it compare?
We did hire an RV in Colorado in October to tour the Rockies for 5 weeks. We recorded a couple of Vlogs specifically about the RV if you want to check them out aswell as some videos of the travels through Yellowstone and the Dakotas 🚐

An I nteresting comparison, great that you both had such a successful trip to the States. Another category you might add is ‘local knowledge’, fellow campers have a sense of camaraderie - sharing unknown or special places to visit, where to try a local delicacy or a less well known route to climb with superb views. I often found out interesting travel ideas while washing up dishes together with others at a site. Also, your holiday starts the moment you get into the van - the adventure begins! Hope you have many more over the next ‘five years’ of your plan.
