    Weird Al's influence is one reason nerd cultures are so popular today. He showed it's okay to proudly enjoy the things you like. Then to just be a good dude and positive person that's so clearly thankful for his fans and life. It's like just such a great example.

    I love that he puts "YOU SUCK" on the Wikipedia page for Atlantic Records.
    For those who may not know, Atlantic Records is the only record company that refused to allow Weird Al to release a parody he had already recorded with the blessing of the original artist.

      @@sally-annecleveland6425 James Blunt's "You're Beautiful". James gave permission, so Al created his parody, but then Atlantic Records said no, so Al wasn't able to release it on an album. However, the lawyers at Atlantic Records weren't too bright, so they only required that he not sell the song, and Al responded by posting the song for free on his website.

      Yes! I thought it was Donny, but I had to check the comments to see for sure. And if there’s one guy who’s whiter and nerdier, it’s Donny O. Yes, I watched his variety show in the 70s. There were only so many channels back then. Mormons are only a shade less white than Amish, which Al has also touched on.

    I love how getting a parody made by Weird Al was a sort of "stamp of success" in the music industry for a long time. Lady Gaga's label denied Weird Al to make a parody of her song but she went over them and told him to make it anyway. Musicians just love this guy's dedication.

      @@Resvrgam Fun fact: Coolio regretted ever hating on Weird Al and his parody of Gangsta's Paradise. He felt embarrassed and even apologized to Al.
      That being said, there are other artists, like Paul McCartney who have flat-out denied Al the right to make music parodies of their songs altogether, but honestly I think it's a shame. Parody is an artform in its own right and Weird Al is the master of parody.

So he made Amish Paradise, but the person Al had contacted didn't _actually_ ask Coolio and only assumed he'd be okay with it... he wasn't. I'm pretty sure they've since smoothed things over. Which is good, because: he did ask first!

    Can we take a moment to appreciate the mood of the protagonist of this video? His confidence is honestly inspiring, he seemingly has no concept of embarrassment. Not only that, this video came out at the dawn of CZcams and nerd culture becoming more mainstream. And Weird Al did it during his 40s. . . . .     this is one of those weird examples where obviously the original came first, but based on the name of the song, it sounds like this wouldve came first. "white and nerdy" is so direct and to the point, where "Riding dirty" sounds like a parody name. because i cant remember the last time anybody said riding dirty without referring to the song

    Chamillionaire himself put "White & Nerdy" on his official MySpace page, and commented that he enjoys the parody.
    In an interview, he also stated he was pleasantly surprised by Yankovic's rapping ability, saying: "He's actually rapping pretty good on it, it's crazy ... I didn't know he could rap like that."
    According to Yankovic, Chamillionaire approached him on the red carpet after "Ridin'" won the Grammy award for Best Rap Song at the 49th Annual Grammy Awards, and thanked him for creating the parody, as, in Yankovic's words, he had "made it undeniable that ["Ridin'"] was the rap song of the year".

    Back in the day I uploaded 2 mashups of this song. A version with the Riding Dirty video played with The White & Nerdy Song, called titled Riding Nerdy, and the opposite video where the White & Nerdy video played with the Riding Dirty song, called White & Dirty. Needless to say, the second video got taken down faster than the first one. 🤣

    It suck how he's not praised for being lyrical. Rap, rock, pop etc. The man has flow with extreme punctuality that gets overlooked because he's does parodies. The man has extreme talent that spanned out throughout 40 years. He is the fucking legend
