Erik Griffin 7.0 (SEE MY AGT STAND UP AUDITION) on TYSO -

- čas přidán 9. 07. 2024
- No introduction needed for Erik Griffin!!! He’s practically a co-host now.
With his seventh appearance, the comedian, actor, and podcaster jumps straight into it with Rick. They break down being type cast, Erik’s late career change, discussing their significant others in Stand Up sets, and we show Rick's "America's Got Talent" audition!
This is a real Business-Of-Stand-Up episode that details their feelings toward turning a crowd and how they each go about developing bits. Erik gives us some insight into how he reformats an opinion by finding a different perspective and moulding it into jokes.
Rick discusses some of the difficulties he's faced with stand-up and Erik gives him some literal coaching. They discuss how they deal with negative comments and how sometimes blocking is the best approach. Erik encourages Rick to step into his “character” self when on stage and they get into their usual disagreements about nearly everything.
And you know the deal… supporting the sponsors supports the podcast!

Did anybody catch around 43:20 when Rick says “it’s not a blanket statement” and the Goku blanket behind him falls off the chair?
The floor did.
@@rickglassman boy are my arms tired
😂 u best me to it
The floor is a inanimate object so when he said did anybody catch technically your incorrect Rick since the floor itself doesn’t have a body but you could say the floor as a whole is a body so yes your were correct then Rick my fault oh no I’ve been watching Rick too much
@@rickglassman JUST KIDDING I LOVE YOU RICK!
“Oh brother, HERE we go” -Erik Griffin, always (:
"y'know what I mean?"
Yup. We all know the issue but for whatever reason. Eric continues to ignore it and takes as criticism.
@@82PeRK oh man this was all in good fun, we’ve all got go-to phrases and I don’t fault anyone for it (or at least I try not to 😅). Especially someone who talks for a living!
Eric is the realest dude in the podcast game. There’s no “show” to him. So authentic, it’s admirable.
Agreed, he makes every podcast he's a guest in better.
@drinkyscarecrow What do you mean?
Everything meta about this episode (the screenshots of messages with cues, to “title card” cueing the end title to come in) is why Rick is on the Mount Rushmore of podcasters. To always have a portion of your mind editing as moments are happening is such a skill that he’s refined over the TYSO journey. I am extremely excited to see where this show is in 3 years.
Eric is a guest on any podcast I will never get tired of. Stay boppin fellow goblins!
I’m surprised the Erik Andys didn’t attack you for misspelling his name
The Trash Tuesday with Rick was incredible. It's like they were completely different people than Rick and Esther have a Time. Some of those back-and-forths could kill in a scripted comedy.
Agreed. It was insanely funny.
I always find Rick entertaining but he was straight next level.
No one could touch the level he was on that day.
He should have the girls over frequently on his own podcast. I know they’re super keen for it
@HiveRobot ew
I feel like this is the most underrated podcast everrr
It’s pretty good
I feel the EXACT same way
I feel the same way about you workout videos 💪
Nah
Same fr
At 46:54 Rick does such a fantastic job mirroring Erik's hand gestures, and I don't feel it got appreciated enough.
Thanks Rick for the sneak peak at the Will Smith episode it was so great. One of the best things I've ever seen put on film. I know you want to release it at 150 but I'm telling you it has 200th episode extravaganza written all over each other's sentences.
Erik: but what I’m *sayin* is
Rick: does that make sense???
Bobby: the thing is is that
Theo: I don’t even know what I’m saying man…
Brendan: I disagree
Steebee: Timestamp that
Sucks that's too much text for a t-shirt
That's it. That's all Canon Law. lol
The podcast cinematic universe
Joey Diaz: Tremendous
Bruce Kreisler: Uhhhhh Huuuundred percent
Lol hahah
I'm a new fan. I saw Rick on several podcasts (Riffin with Griffin, Tigerbelly, Trash Tuesday, Whiskey Ginger) and decided to check out his channel. I've seen close to 10 episodes so far & I love it! Rick is hilarious and authentic. I love the edits and the goblin mascot is adorable!
The first two with Esther are must-watch!
I’m the same. I think this episode has me subbing to Griff. I like that he said he wants to talk seriously but with some comedy sprinkled in
Keep going! You’re about to embark on some real comedy gold, my friend. The Dad and Teddy eps, Adam Ray, 8 days of TYSO, Brent, John, Jackie, Griff (obvi)…
Man way to go Erik. That’s a true friend. You genuinely helped Rick.
30 seconds in and I am already laughing. Rick, you're like 90's Television. Good Enough to watch with Ads!
WOOOO. ALGORITHM. And lucky me, I’ve been binging all the past Griff TYSOs. I’m WELL prepared
Agreed- remove and block the haters! You're adorable, hilarious and appreciated! Thank you for the laughs.💗
Rick, your editing is on another level. Seriously, some of the most meta/creative shit I've seen in a minute
Rick, as one of the attendees at that Brea Improv show with Bobby Lee, I can guarantee you that I would go check out your shows in LA. .
That Brea show was awesome. And was super cool bumping into you and Fahim Anwar near the parking lot. It was actually the perfect show for me!
I learned about Sarah Hyland from Tigerbelly.
Saw Chase O’donnelle from Where my Moms at w/ Christina P.
First saw you on Tigerbelly then went on to see most, if not all, your episodes of TYSO.
And knew about Eric Griffin from all the podcasts he’s done. I mean, he IS the Nate Dogg of podcasts after all. Lmao
"the Nate Dogg of podcasts" is apt
Erik + Rick in a studio would be a great podcast. They are great together. Being genuine, I learn a lot about myself every time they do an episode. I enjoy crazy, comedic podcasts as much as anyone else, but I enjoy even more a funny at times podcast that allows me to grow.
Erik you said at the KATS podcast you make every podcast hot 🔥💯 but nobody listens to yours 😂 you right!
The TYSO ‘postmates driver’ just joined the new SNL cast today 😭
Rick Glassman out here making stars. Bet you that Kristen Bell is gonna blow up any day now...
Aristotle is on SNL!?
@@jakefromstatefarm4508 yep he just joined! Had his first episode last Saturday.
@@Amouroso that’s awesome! I remember him helping Katy out with “you made it weird” with Pete holmes years ago! I’m really happy for him
That couch!!! No words 😶. Erik can use your couch for his background on his next episode. LOOOVE you both together! It’s such fun amusing feel good vibes! The editing is ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!
So fun to watch and listen to!!! 👍🏻
43:21 “this isn’t a blanketed statement”. Rick is God.
I know Erik probably gets sick of the Montez references but that show was so damn funny, I hope he's proud of it.
they should do a regular podcast "Better Friends"
Yes but then Santino will rage just like he did to Scissor Bros 😂
@@Emerald_Manos that would be the ultimate!!!
Your AGT audition really pulled at my heart strings - reminded me of my sweet late mother. Man, she had a fat ass. RIP Patricia. Thanks, Rick!
1:05:14 I went to my first stand-up show and it was at the Comedy Store a few months ago.
It was a Monday night (right after the "hurricane") it was a bunch of people that were largely early in their comedy career. It was so interesting to see this conveyor belt of people go out and try something, to see how people quickly incorporate the hurricane into a joke. It was a great time including the good and not as good acts.
Laughed real hard at Rick shouting out Arizona’s Instagram
Why is it that podcasts with entire studios and crews of people can't come closer to the creativity and production value of TYSO? Hats off to Rick.
this is my favorite third-tier podcast
Enjoyed this real conversation between friends!
That royalty free Benny Hill music is absolutely KILLING me holy fuck. I love how it also goes with the unique flavor of TYSO lmao such a great podcast keep up the insanely good work
Erik is the best! I love him so much and he really seems like such a good person, thanks for having him on again!!
The blanketed statement gets me every time.
Bro idgaf but people that say Rick Glassman ain’t funny is smoked out. Rick if you read this message bro you crack me the fuck up! I love the pod!!
"this isn't a blanketed statement" - blanket falls -
This was a really good conversation. Griffin was like an elder dropping knowledge, encouraging a younger dude in a the game.
One of my fav TYSO eps yet!
Just finished the recent Riffin with Griffin with y'all together. Gotta admit the I love the edit transitions. You're right. It's the edit that makes the difference. The office is only funny because we know/relate to Jim responding to the situations. Keep up the great work boss
These podcasts are amazing man, really top-notch stuff. Appreciate all the effort you guys put into making these as good as they are.
Yes… yes… you’re Shield… you’re Shield. Honestly this is the best. Thank you both so much.
binging all your pods. love em all. cheers Rick!
The production quality on these pods are amazing they need way more recognition/views.
The greatest of all guests! Erik rules!
You 2 have such nice chemistry. I think the Rick and Griffin show could be something special. Love you, Rick. X
Erik's, "Oh Brother," is the best lol.
We need a "Scoop Doo, Woo woo woo!" Podcast.
Best produced podcast in the game!
Loving the comradery with you two. I find myself laughing and what both of you bring up. Great episode for the both of you!
I was anticipating this episode as soon as Rick was on Riffin w Griffin! Love the energy from both you guys #glassesboys
Just a suggestion but you two guys could rent a podcasting space, Do a podcast together preferably with a consistent theme. And use that podcast space to start other podcasts for other people. I genuinely think you two could start a little empire like YMH Studios or ATC.
This episode makes my eyes watery.
I think ricks idea of a variable ticket cost tour is great. As a canadian I just cant wait to go to shows again and the idea of watching one of my favourite comics work out material for cheaper sounds fucking awesome.
I watch all of the comedy/ comedians podcasts...ALL of them and I never watch the ads but I couldn't stop watching these, so good 😆❤
This was like a good therapy session
This pod is a masterpiece. Mr Griffin exposes himself as a philosopher of comedy and Mr Rick is all ears. I smiled ear to ear. Go get a show Mr Rick! Thank you.
Rick and Erik are such a dynamic duo, they make me laugh harder than i knew was possible. Love both TYSO and Riffin with Griffin. Its time these pods get the credit they deserve 💪❤️ (👟🥿👠-off)
Erik, your time will come! We love it when you keep it real and keep it you!
Can we get a TYSO ep with the one and only THEO VON? That would be the greatest sh*t show in history.
Theos too much of a hotshot
Rick said that he tried to get Theo on but he declined.
@@MrEffervescent what episode did he say that?
@@15GatorFan15 I don't remember ,it was several eps ago and it was just mentioned briefly.
@@MrEffervescent ahh gotcha. i hope theo goes on eventually!
Glad I tuned into Rick when he first started putting out podcasts, knew he would find his groove.
I love how he doesn’t cut out the raw funny moments of the show and gives us insight into the production. The Benny hill edit killed me.
Eric explaining to Rick how to be more comfortable with his stand up was awesome! I feel like he broke that down really well.
Best adds!!!!!!!!!!!This week!!!!!!!!! Others need to step it up. Lol. Great podcast y'all! Erik is such a real dude. Thanks guys.
What I like about Rick on his podcast is his families involvement. He lets others shine in a unique way.
Favorite guest by far
I’m watching/listening on my iPad while working. At the 8:00 mark I hear Erik say, “I found the taquito diet works for me.” (An innocent misspeak, referencing the keto diet, obviously.) I immediately rewind to watch, because I KNOW my man Rick & co. were going edit something in with taquitos. Glad we’re on the same page, fellas.
Really good back and forth on approaching comedy in the back half
"...this person is literally just an asshole..." was a funny mental image
i love your editors so much. you guys do such a great job
Erik not being able to take criticism is a fact. He’s a Sassy black man
Erik is always a great guest... You can tell he's authentic witch is refreshing.. Always enjoy
i cant believe this podcast don't get more view. so much production and funny bits. just watched "As We See It" really good show
Well done! Eric Griffin is a great guest. And you and Esther really have comedy chemistry.
Wish the best to you both! Love the chemistry
I actually hope that this show never leaves Rick’s apartment. It makes the show what it is. The name (and everything is represents) wouldn’t make sense if it is filmed in a place where Rick wears shoes😭 but I do understand that it requires a lot from Rick every week to put it all together for us
Well you also get "bigger" guests when you set yourself up in a more professional environment.
Honestly, before they even started talking about it, I for some reason thought about Rick needing to move into a studio with desks - huge fan of the show as it is, the thought just occurred to me at the beginning of this ep for some reason
Lucky for you Rick will likely never have that kind of budget haha
Petition to get Rick's cousin on a full episode here......

“Riffin’ with your shoes off” episode 2
👏
A blanketed statement when the blanket falls
erik is such a great guest dont stop having him on please i love this so much
it’d be funny if rick called his new show, “Put your shoes on” since he’s finally gettin back out here after the pandy wandy
I see someone's been watching some Chrissy Distef 😋
It would be an honor to watch you try out material, and I’m sure I’m not the only one of your fans that feels that way. You are a comedic enigma that is a joy to observe.
Always amazes me how good the edits are
🤯🤯🤯🔥 quality work
Love the episodes of you two together!
This upload made my day. New goblin here
I’ve been hooked on this pod since I discovered you when you first did Santinos Whiskey Ginger.
And FYI I will buy your tickets when you come to dallas immediately.. hell I’d even buy austin/houston/San Antonio/ anywhere in Texas. And make the drive.
I know there has to be a ton of ppl who feel the same as I do… even if they don’t comment. Dooooo it man!! Bobby was right that everyone will love to see you in person so even if you aren’t 100% confident, I think everyone will be so excited and receptive.
Thank you Rick.
PS … being vegas dads tour to texas ;)
I gotta hand it to you, that AGT skit was hilarious, even more so for just being a throwaway bit on this episode
Production on this episode is on a new level!!!!
You should create some custom silk robes for your regulars like Erik and Adam similar to the Five Timers Club.
Nothing I love more than you mumbling I’ll put their Instagram handle here 🤣
Glassman bopper checking in
24:12 🤣🤣 Rick's reaction shot FTW
Things I learned from Trash Tuesday
1. Daddy can't get hard
2. Rick plays his skits for his dates
3. Bobby is a lucky man!
Rick read a comment complaining about his podcast being too meta, now we get a podcast about being meta... ABOUT being too meta
for the pure insanity and chaos, would love to see rick play warzone with griff and/or solve that rubiks cube for an entire epsiode - clearly he moves the stickers around to solve it…… 2 great comics, 2 great personalities! oh yeeaahhhh!
Hilarious how Erik validates the comments about him getting butt hurt about criticism... lol!
Griff the best podcast guest on any podcast, gotta love the Griff
I think about it like this. There are going to be two "yous". The character that Erik sees in you, and the honest you that you know. They're separate entities coming together to make an act, and individuals in the audience will always connect more with one "you" or the other. You don't need to qualify the big character by breaking immersion with an "I'm kidding", and you don't need to qualify the honesty with an "maybe that's just me" explanation. You need to be able to convey with your delivery who you are being at that moment, and people will get it. People know when you're shitting on Esther you're being the big guy, and people know when you're talking about the need for coasters you're being honest. And both are funny in their own right when you make them to be, I think you just need the confidence to marry the two without feeling the pressure to keep the audience on the same page as you at any certain time. Walk them towards being interested in you enough overall, that even if they don't get "you" or the joke at certain points, they want to see it again to try to understand better. When you explain "oh this is just me being big" or "this is just who I am, I'm neurotic", you're just giving them the answer they should be wanting to find for themselves and they lose interest. Telling them you're being a character leads to "oh lets see how Rick will whip this one up into a frenzy", whereas just being that character leads to "Here we go, Rick is really getting into it now!". Telling them that you're honestly neurotic leads to "Oh lets see what he chooses to overanalyze here", just going into a neurotic honesty leads to "Oh this is weird that he feels this way, I've never thought about this before and it's interesting to hear him talk about it". I think you're at your best when you mix your character work and your honest self, and you don't qualify which you're being before or after. Let me figure that part out, let me be surprised by the direction you take something. And don't take all the thinking out of it by making it so obvious which direction I was "supposed" to go down.
I love the podcast and hope to see you live someday when you feel ready to hit the road.
ain't reading all that, happy for u or sorry it happened etc
It's my favorite part of the week !
We need Rick and Griff on bad friends at the same time
Love it 💗
And the ads are the best lmao
Rick, get out there, man! Trust your instincts and get your mind out of the way! Go out, have fun, try some things out. It is all low pressure! You might realize that getting on stage will rejuvenate all aspects of your life, including this podcast. Great stuff!
