The vehicle that the type 93 is based off of is the Toyota Mega cruiser, and apart from having the best name ever, it's essentially just a vehicle born from Toyota looking at a humvee and saying "we can do it better" lol. I believe they're full time 4wd and have a hilariously big 4 liter turbodiesel inline 4. I believe they were designed exclusively for the JDF but I have seen some for sale online on import auction sites and they usually went for around 6 figures. Not entirely war thunder related but some cool info on the vehicle itself from a big Toyota and car nerd lol

Relatively large displacement inline foursl diesels are extraordinarily common. That's what powers every single cab medium duty cab over truck. Toyota tuck their medium duty cab over engine and put it in the mega cruiser.

Technicals
I've driven many Humvees and they are fairly under powered. Never got stuck though! My concern with this design is that the control arms are much thinner than what the Humvee has. Our trucks can carry well over 10,000Ibs over the rear axles.

@@Gary_The_Metro yeah especially since tracks are suppose to give superior traction compared to tires and quite a few different tanks are known to up 30* grades like its nothing and some can even take 60*s

I love the Type 93 but its a shame the missiles really dont work, any fire and forget SAMs in WT really dont work honestly, but I guess that keeps it balanced because could you imagine if this thing could actually use 100% of its brain? Japan would be unstoppable.
I think barely anyone uses this spaa which makes it the most underused spaa in the game
In real life missiles can't really do anything when shot in close proximity especially when target is moving perpendicular to you, so these actually are a good emulation of the real thing.
@@anteshell Phly fired multiple missiles from rear-aspect, from a range where no excuse works on why the missile gets nothing done, yet they were never even close. If Stinger would be this bad irl as it's in game, it would not be in service
If missiles actually worked then CAS might not just be a braindead easykill mode. And the GROUND battle mode might actually become balanced again.

I found that radar locking an air target makes it hit more. Either that or Iâm lucky. Also only shoot jets moving parallel to you, that helps as well

The scary thing is that this weapon system is currently the U.S. armies primary mobile AA system since they retired the M163. We rely way too much on our air superiority which might not always be there in a real war
Close but that's a different one. The Type 93 is not the same as the AN/TWQ-1 Avenger. The Japanese Type 91 surface to air missile is, in a few ways, superior to the American made FIM-92.
Though the US army almost has more patriot missile batteries than AN/TWQ-1 Avengers, and the MIM-104 Patriot is a system that no pilot ever wants to come across, combined with the M-SHORAD defence upgrade being applied to Stryker units, the re-issuing of Stingers ... etc... etc.... Air defence won't be a problem in two or so years. The US military has been working on improving its ground to air capabilities for the last half a decade.
