My favorite player of all time. I grew up watching him and enjoyed everything he did on the court. J. Kidd is that guy.
I remember that Jason Kidd would turn losing teams to winning teams! He 's a winner!
As a coach he is always leaving teams behind better than how they were when he joined them
That's what a point guard should do
He did a full 360
He is undefeated in International play. Although the Netflix special focused on Kobe Bryant, it was Jason Kidd who made them undefeated. 64 and O. Jason Kidd won 2008 USA basketball player of the year, not Kobe.
Instantly 🎉
Jason Kidd is literally my favourite player of all time. I picked up a basketball for the first time because of him
Jason was that dude. Dragging a mid Nets team to two straight finals
A true pass first PG
No doubt top 3 PG’s of all time!!! IMO….. Only Stockton and magic were better!
@@dennisjr77 As good or better than Jason Kidd: Bob Cousy, Oscar Robertson, Jerry West, Walt Frazier, Lenny Wilkins, Nate Archibald, Dennis Johnson, Magic Johnson, Isiah Thomas, Fat Lever, John Stockton, Mark Price, Kevin Johnson, Derrick Harper, Terry Porter, Ron Harper, Mookie Blaylock, Rod Strickland, Tim Hardaway, Gary Payton, Penny Hardaway, Steve Nash, Chris Paul.
Kidd had greater longevity and was a smarter player in his late years than the vast majority of these players. But there was never a point at which he was definitively better. Almost all the guys I listed were significantly faster and better scorers. Many were better perimeter defenders. Kidd had the strength and know-how to play decent post-up defense and cut off passes. He was better at poking the ball away and stripping it closer to the hoop. But he had a turnover problem and an inconsistent (being kind) shot. He did get better at 3s and FTs later in his career, but even then he wasn't reliably consistent, and his percentages generally dropped off in the postseason.
I like Kidd, but he never had the touch with his shot. And what he did well didn't outweigh his weaknesses enough to elevate him to top 5 or even top 10 status imo.
@@merlball8520 this really depends on what your team needs. If you have ample scoring options including a mix of slashers (kmart, rj) and 3pt shooters (kittles, van horn, lucious harris) kidd is the best, and can lead those specialists to the finals. He's the best passing and rebounding point guard ever, and an above average defender. However, his own offense was definitely a liability on teams where he needed to score.
People forget that when the Nets and Kidd lost most of those scoring options (except RJ) they were way sub .500 until they traded for Vince Carter who dragged them to the playoffs in 04-05 with a 57 game stretch of 28 6 and 5 .505 effective fg% nearly mvp caliber play. Kidd is the best pg ever if you have scoring on the team. He only ever scored enough to keep defenders honest for his passing.
the fact that jason kidd with the rosters he was given was able to bear teams with way more skill, he some how beat the pistons and lose to the pistons in the conf finals 4-3 which the pistons roster was so fucking stacked. he lost to the lakers 4-0 in the finals but 3 games together were decided by 10 points against the lakers which is wild to think about. 3 nore shots made in 2 games would have made it a 2-2 finals. 2 best players in the league vs kidd and a bunch of decent players, on paper the lakers should have dominated the games by 10-15 points a game.
From worst to first. He got robbed of the MVP his first year with the Nets
I wanted the 2002 NBA Finals between the New Jersey Nets and the Sacramento Kings to happen.
I was happy when Jason Kidd won in Dallas late in his career.
2001 or 2002? Man, that would've been a beautiful series. Prime Shaq running roughshod over everyone was impressive, but far less fun to watch.
Me too
Kidd was a player I modeled my game after. I'll never 4get my 10th bday getting his Mavs Jersey & playing in it in my driveway i couldn't miss lol. Was glad he finally got a ring.
he's my favorite player as a kid. everyone loved Allen Iverson at the time and tmac and Kobe, j kidd was the guy I wanted to play like.
Kidd did one thing that is common amongst most hall of famers: He constantly worked on his game. He went from being "Ason Kidd" to being a good three-point shooter. Ben Simmons, take note.
When Jason Kidd retired, only Reggie Miller and Ray Allen made more 3 point shots than Jason Kidd. I would say that's more than good, that's great. And up until steph curry, no point guard had made more threes than Jason.
I'm 38yrsold. All 90sNBA was good. All of it
same here.
100%
84 represent!
I'm 36 years old. All 90s and early 2000s NBA was good.
84 no doubt. I always tell my daughter that I think I grew up during the best time in our history when u think of the inception of new things & what they've evolved into today.
Jason's high school coach, who had coached at the college level for several years, told me when Jason was a junior in H.S. that he was "the best player I've ever coached, any level." And when he was a senior, I watched him seemingly coast against a good team through a stat-line like this: 25-8-13. As Grant said, he was one of those guys who was always electrifying to watch, but what amazed me most was how much stamina he had (and how hard he played all the time). In an interview he once said that he didn't know what motivated him to play so hard; it was a mystery even to him.
Good great genetics
I started watching the NBA through the 01-02 All Star game, and this guy who was seemingly threading the needle while not even looking in the direction of the player he was passing to, just blew my mind. Jason Kidd became my favourite player from that day forward.
Being from outside of the US, I was extremely lucky to watch him play a regular season game at London in the O2 in his last season with the Knicks. He was obviously a lot slower than in his prime, but to actually watch the guy live, you realise how much he was constantly communicating with his teammates, and how much he was assessing the court all the time! Absolute legend!
Why is no one gonna talk about his wheels?
...He had serious top end SPEED too.
(2K has him between D. Fox and Ja Morant)
It's weird because he said himself that his game evolved when he slowed down...he was just too fast for his teammates so often got to the scoring end before they were there...when he slowed down he got more options as a distributor
Imagine if he never had knee problems!
One of the most underrated player all time.
MAGIC is NEVER JEALOUS. He openly and gladly commends, endorses, praises and acknowledges other players. Even admitted Jordan was better than him. (Haters cannot bring themselves to SPEAK good of players they ENVY)
His coaching of the Mavs was an underappreciated story in the playoffs this year. Only guy that could coach Luka to being a truly winning leader of their spare parts team.
Jason Kidd very or the most underrated Greatest PG of All
time!!! Even 2K not giving him enough respect!!
I finally got a chance to see Jason Kidd play when he arrived to play for NJ. I couldn't believe he changed the whole atmosphere for a losing team like the nets. To me only Jason Kidd and Chris Webber were the best immediate impact players of that generation 💯👍🏽
Ever heard of Shaquille O’Neal?
@@vmon215 Sacramento was the best team in the NBA in 2002 bc of Chris Webber. That franchise was dormant for 20 years before he got there and for the last 16 to 17 years after he got hurt. His 1 year with the Warriors they made the playoffs. Webber left and the Warriors didn't make the playoffs again until 13 years later. Yes Chris Webber

Of course I do, I wasn't living under a rock for the last 35 years. Clearly you don't know how to read though because Shaquille O'Neal did not make an immediate impact on any team. Orlando didn't make the playoffs his first year, his first year with the Lakers they got swept in the playoffs so I what point did Shaquille O'Neal make an immediate impact, your best argument is with the Miami heat but that was like 15 years after he was drafted. Come on bro do your freaking homework before you make a comment like that. For you to make a comment like that you only use Shaquille O'Neal in video games and that tells me you're a young Meathead
💯🏀
They don’t call him the magician for nothing!! I still watch his greatest plays & game still til this day… I was a 90s kid, I had Jason Kidd everything… I also played point guard & shooting guard through my school years, & I always had # 5 as my jersey #
J Kidd is a certified Mavs Legend 🔥🔥
One of the most underrated superstars ever. I saw people not taking Jason Kidd in Top 50 lists ? Are you crazy ? 3 Finals 1 ring, 2nd Most Asists, 2nd most steals, Top 10 3pt shoot made, top 6 most triple double top 50 most double double, 10 all-stars, many all-nba and all-defensives, 2 times top 5 in MVP voting ?!
And probably the purest distributor we ever saw. And best defensive player among all Point Gods (Magic, Stockton, Isıah, Curry, Paul ) , and the most versatile among all Point Guards except Magic Johnson who has PF body.
He was franchise Player on 3 different team on different eras. For mid 90s for Dallas, for late 90s to early 00s for Suns and for early 00s to late 00s for Nets ... He aint a joke. And he was a difference maker for 2011 Mavericks.
From 6:07-9:07 Daaaaamn the accolades he got in that 3 min time frame to finish up the video is what anyone would love to hear people say about them. never heard people talk about a player like that before. Sean.... Big dawg... I see what you did there. Keep up the good work!!!
Hey Sean I'm having you do my greatest hits video collage at my funeral lol
"They used to say my game was fancy, now they say I drop dimes". Remember that?
Point Coach explains it all💯💪🏾. One heck of an 🏀 player...# Point Guard Goat
OMG i remember the New Jersey Nets 2001-2002 season. So fast and exciting.
We got to see all 4 baskets that Eric Dampier scored in his career in this video off of passes from Kidd. 🙂
You just see The Game different when You can pass like Kidd
& Be such A HUG IMPACT As A Floor Leader who primarily gets His teammates easy buckets
Plus plays LockDown Defense for that position.
This channel seriously should be at 1 million subscribers... Period
Great job on the video Sean. This is one of your best.
One of my favorite players all time 🏀
Kidd was my one of my favorite players as a kid (no pun intended) since I played pg most of the time I Modeled my game after his. Top 5 pg all time
The player 👏 I looked up to...Arguably The Best 👌 Point God 🙌🙌🙌💯💯💯👌👌👌
Cheers bruv Kid so entertaining and definitely one of the greatest 👍. Can you please put your beats and where we can get em from in the transcript?
Love it. Kidd is great!
J Kidd was a triple threat, he could score, rebound and assist, which is crazy for a guard. Every team he joined got better, and the last time the Knicks were relevant, he was on the team lol. Very underrated player, great playmaker.
Haven't checked the channel for a while. Where are all the jerseys? It feels "naked" 😂
After Magic, I have Stockton, Zeek, and Kid. Great PG who rebounded and defend the position exceptionally well.
EASILY my favorite PG of the 2000s
Thank you for giving Jason Kidd his just due.
Great videos!! Amazing channel!! Amazing contents!!!
I don’t know if you already have something talking about how good Steve Francis was!!
If not, here’s an idea !!😊
Hard dribbles and dishin dimes!
Definitely top 5 PG of all time
Top three
@@ii9714 Magic Stockton Zeke. Aftee these three he's definitely up there in my top 5 alongside Oscar Robertson, Steph and Payton
@@ii9714 it’s difficult when there are also Magic, Stockton, Curry, big O to pick 3
The reason why Steve Nash won MVP is because of this guy. Kidd did what Nash did in Phoenix. Should have won MVP.
He played defense as well.
I couldnt agree more with your last statement. Lets not forget the huge influence he had, in Giannis development
He had the flair of White Chocolate but was so much more technical like Stockton or Nash. Could run, could board, shoot...it's hard to think of any PG to compare him with
Definitely underrated
J-Kidd was super special!!! 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
Zelo -Zelo veliki pečat je pustil Kidd v NBA ligi Luka sledi mu imel je fantastični pregled nad igro.AMEN.
Most people love Jordan , LeBron but Kidd is my favorite player ever !!!
I'm so thankful he came back to Dallas to help solidify the LEGENDARY career of himself and Dirk with a Championship! 🏆🙏🏼💪🏼💙 #MFFL... Looking forward to see if his coaching career can bring another Championship to Dallas. 🤞🏼😁
That would be something I don't think ANYONE has ever done. 🤔🤨🧐
Let's GOOOOOOOOOOOO MAVS! 🙃
J.Kidd is for sure in my top 5 pgs
That's why it's annoying when people call cp3 point god.
if there was loose ball between the free throw lines it seemed like Kidd would get it. he was fast and strong.
J.Kidd was awesome!
Kidd was super intelligent..also
He’s the best
It's nice to see his return to the Dallas got him a championship.
Jason Kidd turned NJ into a powerhouse force to be reckoned with! And NJ didn’t appreciate it! Thus the Nets move to NJ.
Remember seeing his highlights & looking out for his games when he was in college. They weren't easy to find. Same with Shaq. ... Makes me miss when college basketball meant more.
Anyhow, Kidd was GREAT all around. ... Underrated, IMO.
* Also, at the end - No need to say the word "probably" with top 5 all time PG's. ... 😂🤣😂🤣😂 & directly after stating that he's, underrated 😜
Kidd is great. He'd be the best point guard today if he played in this era. Probably the fastest point guard in transition ever.
He was not the fastest, guys built like Morant are probably a bit faster. Kidd was suprisingly fast for his frame though.
@@bartomiej9807 Morant isn't fast. Kidd's the fastest I've ever seen.
I think Westbrook is the fastest.....
@@cdgates1 I'm talking about running the fast break. Kidd's way faster with the ball in his hands on the fast break. Once he grabbed a rebound, you had one second to guard your man or he was hitting him for a layup. Probably the best or second best fast breaking guard next to Magic in my opinion. Westbrook would bobble the ball and commit a turnover lol.
U just described what Westbrook been doing since Durant left okc and the 1 season he played with Washington. Westbrook is a athletic version of Magic Johnson. Remember this guy averaged a triple double for 4 seasons...
A True Point Guard!
Greatest fastbreak PG to ever play!
Light skinned Magic Johnson. Respect
Agree with the truth, rebound n size. Other than that he n Nash is solid!!!
5:29 wow
My boi j kidd
best PG all time
#1 Magic
#2 Kidd
#3 Curry
man Vince was just a little late joining the nets!!
Kidd Carter Jefferson I made them champions in Nba Live 06 😂😂
I was more a kemp hill iverson kobe jordan fan but respect to Kidd
Only player i’ve seen to make a fadeaway Layup
Kidd could have easily had Vince Carter Nick name half man half amazing
I know Magic is the greatest PG but J Kidd is my favorite PG of all time... I'm so happy he got a ring even though I'm a solid heat fan. 😆
Jason Kidd is a top 5 PG
Over Magic, Stockton, Isiah Thomas, Oscar Robertson, Jerry West, Steve Nash, Dennis Johnson, Kevin Johnson, Mark Price, Tim Hardaway, Penny Hardaway, Gary Payton, Fat Lever, Chris Paul? Who do you take out of that list to rank him above them?
Lilly-pad was back before the vid
I got his shoes as my first basketball shoes.
Back when being a point guard meant something....I've got Kidd second behind Magic as greatest PG ever. Miss me with that..."but Curry" nonsense. He's 3rd on my list.
Taking those Nets teams to the finals. Only dude who did something close was LBJ taking those 2007 Cavs to the finals
Kidd or Doncic? You had to watch this footage to realize JK was tops, even if he isn't the stats monster
Top 5: Magic, Stockton, Kidd, Isaiah, Oscar Robinson, Steph, thats 6...
Best basketball IQ of all time.
Kids great. One of my favorite. But just so we're clear, he was tops in "3-pointers made". His 3pt% was terrible most of his carrer though. He just took a lot of them
what do you mean terrible?he shoots 36% from the three in his career
@@skullpierceres4878 Look at his first 10 seasons or so. He got more accurate in later seasons and brought his career average up to 34.9%.
*also his overall fg% is terrible. 40%. Was an all star with a 36.9 fg%.
Still he's awesome. Just saying.
Taking more shots logically will make your percentages go down, not sure why you're trying to knock him for that
@@gangstagummybear3432 just saying 3pt shooting is not a reason to talk up Kidd. A lot of other things are tho. Just putting the arguments in order.
Kidd shot a lot of threes because he had a long career with big minutes virtually every season, not because he shot many per game, or per minute.
His big mins were because he impacted the game in a lot of other ways. Basketball Genius.
The Steve Nash Jason Kidd trade was when most nba fans started to like kid.
Hi Sean, thanks for reminiscing on the PRIME NBA with us, and making these videos for us. I appreciate all the effort and professionalism. BTW: Do you have a boyfriend?
Wish the '03 move to The Spurs had happened
Zoom your camera out justttt a tad. Feels a little too close.
KIDD is a BETTER rebounder than LEBRON JAMES! For his position, pound for pound, inch for inch, JK is the best rebounder! I thought Kidd's game was MEH, until seeing him LIVE in 2000 Olympics. Jason Kidd is SUPER~! So fast, all-around point guard, with good outside range. Lightning fast, flexible and arguably one of the top 3 passes of ALL-TIME! He passes better than Isaiah Thomas, and that says a lot. Magic Johnson is a different type of passing, so won't go there. But Kidd can FIND ANYONE, ANYWHERE, ANYTIME. He makes his team mates MUCH better. Look how he carried the 2001-2002 NETS to finals? Straight after LAK beat Iverson's 76er's, Kidd rose to challenge the throne. His game was COMPLETE. (Although lacking athletic hops, he made up for it with speed, plus his mental toughness, maturity- even as a rookie, and his FUNDAMENTALS make him one of the top 3 PG's of the last 50 years. Dirk wouldn't have RINGS without Kidd, or Nash. Jason Kidd is far superior player to Steve Nash.
In NBA 2K, I ALWAYS tweak certain players ABILITIES, because it is inaccurate. Kidd COURT AWARENESS, PASSING, and related spec's get massive boost in 95+. Proof 2K is inaccurate, is Jordan's STEAL ability is under 90, when he was always in top 10 in steals. Also Iverson's dunk 67 and jump 85 in 2k, when it should be at least dunk 85 and jump 93. The man is 5'11", and could leap off a standing 2-feet to dunk two-hand, grab SUPER HIGH offensive rebounds over centers backs and SLAM it down upon them, catch alley-oops (even at age 31), and do soaring LEANER dunks almost like Mike's. At 5'11 AI did these things, and he has a 38-42" vertical, but 2K underestimated his abilities.
Kidd is better than Nash in most categories. Nash only beat him in turnovers.
@@nymphopath9816 ~ And shooting.
Facts/no words Kidd and now Curry
"I Look at AI as a 2"
A few moments later...
KG at the 3.
Shut up Isaiah.
His basketball knowledge is one of the terrible ones out there, if not the worst.
Perfect PG IMO. Great height, strong, vision became a better shooter than Magic, rebounds, decent defense, captain. Pass first, shoot second.
Decent defense is quite the understatement.
9x All NBA Defense, and was always among the league leaders in steals throughout his entire career. He was big and could guard multiple positions, even giving LeBron fits in the ‘11 NBA Finals.
did u say decent defense? he was 9 time nba defensce team 4 times 1st team and 5 2nd team......he was literally one of the best defensive guards in the league
People just don't understand it's your ability to make the other 4 people on the court better. Point guards are the catalyst that make or breaks a teams success. You can easily make an average team great with shhhhh! passing!!🙂
Nash Kidd it's closer then rose thinks but it's still kidd cause of boards ..passing equal threes Nash actually and scoring but Kidd has a defensive presence
I remember when J Kidd was the truth i think if the mavericks kept him in the beginning they would of gotten a ring before Dirk came to the mavs
Kidd was a 6'4 Magic Johnson.....
black excellence
Triple double threat in 2022 is not a threat
Tracy McFatty
I argue Kidd is the goat PG all the time
Top 5 PG easily.
