I lived out in Abilene, Texas back in the early-mid 1970's. Lots of big and big- blocked older fords still on the street and sitting around. Easy to go to the local wrecking yard and pluck a big block high-horsepower engine for a few hundred dollars and put it in whatever you wanted. Mostly for fun, few were show queens and over the top costly builds. My buddys dad had a 1969 T-Bird with the factory 429, powerful and quite a highway cruiser.

Last of the easy to rebuild and maintain luxury cruisers and one of the safest cars ever built. Manual trans square birds very rare. Glad no others like square birds so I can afford them. So, it's a 59 T-bird that was originally an FE motored car , probably a 332 but maybe a 352 motor. Both the 332 and the latter 427 are FE blocks and share the same mountings so any mid block would bolt right in that car. It was definitely not original to the car as they are 5 years apart. Again very very cool. Those cars are just very long on style. They have so much style. They're just dripping with style but they've got a 421 or even a 389. They're just drunk with torque. What a wonderful combination

Very nice cars. Very nice collection. However that Thunderbird that is very old school sleeper. I mean it's cruising around exhaust going through the full exhaust system. Nice kind of quiet compliant cruise down the road. You pull up to a red light and there's some jack wagon with his Coyote. Engined mustang and he's sitting there revving it up a little bit and you just look over it. Glance over at him and right before the light shortly before the light turns green you open up the electric cutouts and that lets him know that that's unbeard is way more than what it looks and he's got definitely got a race on his hands
