Nikki Lane Ha ha you’re so funny yeah me too and I just got super retro vintage I don’t know maybe they’re from the 1920s the metal here setting rollers and I had the tightest curls right now and I’m just not sure how to get it styled like the way I want with non Shirley Temple .

Um. Whoa! Do most people even realize how much talent this requires? My God. This is awe inspiring to me. Absolutely perfect. 10/10.
I really wish back combing didn't bother me so much. I don't mind it nearly as much if someone else, like my hair stylist, is doing the teasing. But for some reason when I do it to myself, I just get the eebie jeebies. I'm weird. I think my hair would do this style very easily bc of the thickness from root to tip and also the texture. But 90% of those curls forming like this solely depends upon how neatly you actually rolled each piece. And that can be a major struggle for me too.

For my hair I use (pin in) a bouffant style hairnet to hold the curl in place this helps keep the curl in place and I never have to worry about windy weather.

Wow what a great tutorial! I have really struggled getting vintage hair looks and happened to have the same bendy rollers from Poundland as you. Wow first try with this tutorial and it turned out so well (need some practice but for a first go was shocked it worked at all!), thank you for such a wonderful and detailed explanation! It's gorgeous. My mother had hair like yours....and she grew up in the 1940s. I grew up in the 1970s and 1980s...and she was always lamenting how her daughters' hair had "NO STYLE..." And, of course, she was right. Great tutorial--thank you. You look more professional--not costume vintage. I LOVE the look!!!

Updating my comment to say something about the back-combing/or teasing trick she suggested. IT WORKED SO GOOD! Every time I've done rollers, I get these weird marks at the roots, and you can clearly see they are separated chunks of hair from being in rollers. Looks unprofessional and not well done. After I tried teasing the sections at the roots like she did - I will never not tease again after a roller set. Best tip ever from this video!! Might grab a teasing comb to make it even easier 😊

The other week I tried incorporating some tips from your old brush out video, especially pushing myself to use more hairspray than I usually do, and accidentally set off my fire alarm. My can of hair spray was almost completely empty so I didn't actually get that much product out of it, just a whole lot of fumes. I thought about you and that you surely would be proud. A for effort, right?

THANK YOU!! 👍 I came for the vintage hair tutorial, but what you mentioned around 1:55 just stopped me from unknowingly exposing myself to hazardous asbestos! I was just about to buy a vintage bonnet hair dryer, not realizing that many, perhaps ALL, hair dryers of various models (hood, handheld) made before 1979 contain asbestos! I would potentially have been blowing nasty asbestos fibers right onto my hair and into my house at least once a week!!
While exposure doesn't necessarily mean we'll develop a disease, people have apparently gotten sick just from the exposure of washing asbestos-laden work clothes, so who wants to take such a horrible risk?
I might just buy the nice and safe modern Conair or Andis bonnet hair dryer and keep my peace of mind--best of both worlds. Thanks again!

I've been looking for a video like this for ages! I love how thoroughly you explain everything, it's so helpful to someone like me who has absolutely no clue about hair! I have very fine hair so have never managed to get a vintage style to work- looking forward to trying this tonight though.

I would like to start off by saying that your tutorials are fantastic.
I follow your instructions but I swear that my hair has other ideas 🤔🤔. I try to do the swoop and my hair is totally against it. I try and try and try and after about 10 goes I end up getting frustrated and give up.
My hair is on the fine side, about mid shoulder blade length and my fringe is about chin length. I'm at a loss of what to do, would you by any chance have some tips please?

I can see you really have to be committed to achieving these beautiful hairstyles. Most women nowadays either don't have the time or interest necessary to create such a beautiful look.
It's unfortunate that these hairstyles are seldom seen anywhere other than on CZcams.

*brush 1: fluffing - soft cushion brush (denman or mason pearson)
*brush 2: smoothing- classic styling brush (denman)
*fine tooth, pintail comb: back combing
•optional: dry shampoo
*brush 3: smoothing & sculpting- teasing brush (+ fine tooth comb & your finger tips)
•hair clip to pin down top face framing while styling
•side comb to pin hair down behind ear
•hair spray (several built up, thin layers)
•hand mirror
•giant (long) bobby pin/clip for securing face framing
Hi! I have a performance on Friday 5/17/19 and I have to be in 40s cocktail attire. I don't know what to do with my hair because it is much too short for a 40s style. It's like a short bob in the front, but closer to a pixie in the back, with the nape only about 2 inches long. It's just long enough on the sides to cover my ears, but the corners of my jaw are visible. The front is angled and comes to my chin. It's all very layered. Any suggestions would be appreciated! It's gotten a little longer than my profile pic at this point, maybe an inch (+1/2?).

Juicy Peach I don't really put much thought into a specific shampoo for this hairstyle... But i guess if you have hair that drops easily then you might want to avoid anything too heavy

I am a busy college student with longer hair, I'd say its near my waist. Should I cut it? And also how long can one of these hairstyles last? I am still very new to this lifestyle. Also, does your hair get damaged with using products every so often?
My hair is also that long and I’m tho king about cutting it ONLY because it’s beginning to look damaged. So I personally would say if it is not damaged then don’t.
I also use the Aussie’s strongest hairspray and I did a hairstyle for this last Christmas in 2017 and it held for a great 12 hours or so.
