I don't wanna because they're not fun ones, i have no need to be reminded of certain people...
Yesterday I had a puncture and had to walk 10km home with my bike...
Shortly after moving to another country and buying a second hand bike went out for 10km ride through the countryside towards a big retailer for spare tubes. The current tubes gave up about a kilimeter before getting to the shop and extra challenge was to find a 15mm spanner at the car park
@@elias.f. oof, was it at least the front one so you could just one wheel it? Because if it was the rear one that SUUUUCKED to get back with almost for sure
@@Ferrari255GTO Nope, it was the rear and yes, it sucked. A lot.
I love that bonkers Whyte PRST1. Partly cos when I was coming up on mountain bikes it was an expensive, desirable bike, and partly cos it's so quirky.
Nice one Neil & Martyn. Legends the pair of ya!
My story…years ago, before “gravel” I had something similar to it, went biking high in the alps and punctured the tubular tires (they were a thing few years back when 29s came out) had to cary the bike and went on the wrong side of the mountain down. It took all together 5hours of hiking (with the bike on my back) to get back to the car.
As a beginner mtbiker, I tried some street biking with my hardtail and I was really going hard to try to get up some stairs.
Both tires punctured.
But, on the brightside, I'm now really good at changing tubes!
Editor - well done on picking a winner, great team work that also made me laugh 👍🏼
Thanks for the Super Nice on my Iron Horse gentlemen. You made my day and I loved the jabs at its Unique looks.😁
yeeees the moment of the week i've been waiting for... Dirt shed show!!!
We hope it gets you excited for a weekend of BIKES!
Neil hope you have a good break with the family after spotting you today on the ferry , great job with the video
Er it's because the tracks evolve at the same pace as the tech. Honestly can you imagine transporting "hardline" track back to the 90's 😂😂or better still give peaty a pair of 2023 maxis tyres in 95, he'd never have a puncture till retirement
Love the giggle over a double puncture - boys will be boys!
#CaptionContest When Blake got caught cyclocross-dressing...
Haven’t had a flat in years thanks to tannus armor
I run 36 spoke Halo SAS wheels, downhill spec tubes, and downhill wire bead Minions. I don't remember the last time I had a flat.
#captioncontest
The face Blake makes when Anna tells him, he's wearing one of her jerseys again.
Hey Neil, I for one liked your commentary and would like to see you at the World Cups!
i used to run all my bikes with halfords expander tyre foam in the tubes. never had a puncture .. have now gone tubeless and only suffer with tyre going down while sat in the shed, not on a ride.
For a historical thingamajig, there was a custom bike made in the late 80s/early 90s for Mountain Biking UK magazine called The Big Green Monster. It used experimental geometry for the time, though probably the opposite direction to what bikes are like today! There were loads of photos of it being ridden in the snow, and apparently it climbed like an absolute beast. Can anyone remember who designed it and what happened to it?
Excellent...
I got one first run today, I eventually managed to plug it, then a second on the last run, sealant just got me to the bottom but it needs plugging as well, brand new tyre as i killed my last one last week
Blake: “It’s not what it looks like… I can explain!” #captioncontest
That white and ti Salsa makes me happy. I love my white Timberjack. Need to put it in the uploader
Soo Sick....Yeah we like oldscool stuff #Doddy and cool old stuff
Always Loving the Show!
Forkin Good Stuff.
The Fork show Brynnlee Ripping her first North Shore!
Don’t forget the mythical airless tire we keep getting promised that has grippy tread bonded to a polymer lattice. I guess that lattice bit is the durability trick.
I'm thinking about this, making a tyre insert where the tyre is around 60mm from the rim, and the insert is made out of multiple compounds, the first 30mm being a soft foam, the next 15mm being denser foam and the last 15 mm being foam as dense as cushcore. I imagine the rolling resistance might be a concern but if that removes the pneumatic part of the tyre it might work?
I was really hoping for and orange Whyte this week. As you had an white Orange the other week.
The Orange Whyte is mine…..
Here in the desert we have a ground stickers called goat heads can’t ride without protection from flats inserts help ,
Till recently, I went about 13 months without a single puncture, easily covered 6000 miles in that time period
I heard nearly all the Atherton riders are running no inserts and they had multiple podium finishes last weekend
Has the news dude really got the fire on and a cuppa! It’s summer. 😂
Ah but its England
Not had a puncture….yet!🤞🏻I do use DH/enduro casing tyres! I’ve probably had around 20 moments of thinking I must have a puncture after that but no actual punctures!🤷🏼♂️
I don’t think we will ever solve punctures, because as long as one person finds a way to make something( in this case a puncture proof tire) someone else will find a way to break it!
WHY do they not make a CUSHCORE TUBE... No flats... No Burps !
(ok no flats from snake bite... but you could add a little tyre pando in the tube to catch the odd nail etc.
Caption contest: Girlish scream!... oh good thing I had my blouse on!
Bring in the moto MX/Enduro Mousse with varying closed cell size & mousse compounds to simulate different tyre pressures. Maybe there's lots of why not's . Who knows.
You CAN fill your tyre with grass (Done it) but the drier the better... Wet grass squishes into a paste and you need to refill more often.
Even if your pushing that bike home it's better on grass than a loose tyre slappin round on a rim that's runnin on the ground more than the tyre.
(You can run on grass when you get home..)
I thought Neil did a pretty good job commentating and he was progressing nicely throughout the stream.
That cannondaled Ashton Justice 🤤
Also regarding coming up on the channel, where's the Trials academy with Hank? It' will eventualy come, right?
“You had your post ride Espresso without me? How could you!!” #captioncontest
Silly GRAVELISTS 🤣
My flat tyre story is I got home from a ride oneday, half an hour later i was sitting down and all of a sudden there's a whooshing sound as my tyre goes flat. Pumped it up again for it to do the exact same thing. Ended up having to vacuum some fine gravel out of the tyre so it didn't keep puncturing the inner tube 🤣
#punctures There's already a system introduced in road biking which has an axle like a camshaft. There's a sort of piston pump integrated in the hub, it can inflate or adjust the the tire pressure during ride.
It could compensate for smaller losses like caused by thorns, similar to wheel IFVs which can compensate to a certain point if their tires get shot by a compressor constantly pumping air into the tires
#captioncontest "Excusive!! Blake Sampson has finally been caught and has been secretly working as a GCN presenter"
#captioncontest
The guilty look when a mountainbiker gets caught crossdressing as a roadie.
No riding = no punctures=better for the environment and the trails.
#captioncontest "Blake, did you remember to pack the cheese in the handlebars?"
Bike packing cheese grips 😂
Punctures are inevitable but tyres burping - now that's another question. Let's face it, when you're running 20ish psi then sidewall support is going to seriously diminish.
It's the nature for the tire design. It will forever be prone to punctures until they develop a rubber tire that has a carcass that will stop punctures completely.
Solid tyres get re-discovered ever few years, and then disappear again! It can't be beyond science to come up with a version that works...
Solid tires tend to wear flat in a short time. But what if one encapsulates the solid tire inside a normal one? Maybe an improved version of CushCore? No need for air.
@@rascal1234 so the core fills the entire space in the tyre? And you then change the outer 'tread' whenever you like!
@@rascal1234 They exist, lookup Stop-a-Flat inserts. A pain to fit, kinda heavy, don't deform nicely like a low-pressure tyre.
Solid tires exist since a long time on forklifts, but only there. They are heavy as hell and dont offer any comfort (which dont play a role there). On a car you could not drive such tires, and probably also not on a bike.
#captioncontest what we have hyuh is : Anna telling Blake that the hardtail is an inferior bike. "I SAY!"
No more flat tires since I've used tubeless inserts
I hope to one day see something like unpunctureble latex lined tires with wireless inflation on the fly for various types of terrain 🤔 not so sure it would suit my budget but it would be cool
#CAPTIONCONTEST Blake- “I swear I’ve never had a white bike, but seven punctures in one day…? Maybe 😂”
#captioncontest
“Blake’s been biking with GCN too much.”
I was riding a race one day for my school at night, and I hit my back wheel hard on a rock, and as I was riding, I felt it going flat, and I didn't have my CO2 cartridge with me, and I was far away from the finish point, so I asked the person behind me, and as I was using the CO2, it didn't pump up, and I pulled it out, and it exploded in my hands, and my whole valve just broke off.
#captioncontest Anna: „Sorry, wrong van!“
Punctures are a nightmare. All this tech and we still get them. There should be puncture proof tires for the riders who aren’t bothered about weight
Or grip, the stiff carcass will lose you grip.
@@simonrook5743 yeah that too. I don't need grip commuting to the local store
@@rottieshepcalibre9156 this is GMBN, not Global Commuting Network! There are puncture proof solutions, Schwalbe Marathon plus or Tannus/other ‘solid’ tyre for commuting. Although I use tyres with a basic puncture protection on my commuter and have just replaced a set that I’d worn out with zero punctures anyway.
#captioncontest Blake: "I'm not XC, I'm just XC curious!"
#captioncontest Blake trying to convince Anna that he had more than 20 psi on for the roost he just hit.
#captioncontest He was singing, "im too sexy for my clothes..." when she opened that door
#captioncontest Caught in the moment when Anna says to Blake "and now it's time to shave the legs"...
#captioncontest "Anna you're suppose to knock before entering a roadies vehicle!"
Anyone else out there who'd prefer stickers on a new bike over painted logos? I like to make my bike to look like my bike and it's a bit tough to customize color ways when the logos are painted on the frame. Embossed headtube badges and stickers would be perfect!
It depends on the brand and bike for me... Small painted logos and symbols are fine but I don't like when "TREK" or "LOOK" takes up the entire downtube with giant letters.
@@adamwebmy old GT Arrowhead had 'GT' written on it in about fifteen places 😅🙈
@@adamweb Fully agree, it's the big boy on the downtube I don't get down with.
@@adamwebI guess the purpose of that is to make you 'LOOK' at that 'TREK' XD
#captioncontest "Thumbnail from Anna and Blakes upcoming video: introduction to trail centre car park dogging"
Run 50 psi. Less punctures. Need to learn how to turn better, esp on wet though. Could be a good cornering training tool.

Do my moobs look big in this 😂
Why haven't punctures be solved? Two words: Big Tyre. They have conspired to make sure you have to constantly buy new tyres! 😂
#captioncontest Blake: " ... but this is my van".
silly question but do you guys ship to Canada?
#CaptionContest Blake! Hide your shame!!!
#captioncontest - Blake getting grounded trailside for going full roadie
Been riding bikes since 1990 use inner tubes to this day I don't ride much random places but I never seem to get punctures possibly just don't ride hard enough
#CAPTIONCONTEST - That naked feeling you get when your bike is in for repairs and your phone brings up a memory of you with your bike 😔 It's too real and it's only been a week.
#captioncontest You just stay in there and have a good think about what you've done.
Why does nobody ever discuss Tannus Armour, I have been running XC and long distance with these for 10+ years with NIL punctures!
#captioncontest Hank convinced Blake that this would be faster down Megavalanche
#captioncontest "I swear, it wasn't me, and I won't be doing anymore road rides. "
I think DH racers don't use inserts because of weight. I haven't had a puncture since I installed cushcore on my trail bike. Added cornering support has made my bike much more enjoyable. I think people, and specially racers, tend to proritize weight savings over reliability. It's been discussed at length on PB
I dont understand how people get punctures, I haven gotten a single one since I took up riding again. I rode 25mm road bike on mtb trails without punctures.. Maybe people dont care about unloading the tires when they ride over ruts and things?
Because there's sharp sh*t on the floor, next question XD
I dont puncture enough to justify an insert... Im not slow, im not careful, its just not happening THAT often that i need to add 200 gram pr wheel. It sounds like we neeed more people riding hardtails...
#captioncontest - Rich told me I could keep it.

'Anna this jersey is so tight its' flattened my left arm'
I think the sealant is far to viscous. The milk is too much like...milk. I think it should be more syrupie.
Wow mart hahaaa mint story
Road bike old tyres, should have updated tyre and tube long before, exactly 30km into the ride tyre and tube exploded right outside the local bike shop. $50, yes a long time ago as I said, two new tyres and tubes replaced eyes still ringing from the explosion I left to complete the ride. #Caption Hello! Who the hell are you. I say that as the caption because it is exactly the look I give when I have no idea who just said hello too me.
#CAPTIONCONTEST "You callin' me a ROADIE??!!?? Me? I am just modelling the new GMBN XC kit!!" Honest!
After 10 years still clips vs flats
We just need someone to make bead lock mtb rims
Why don’t dh racers use moose tubes????
#captioncontest... what you can't use lycra in downhill?!
Never had a flat. Ever

#punctures. Anything from thorns to a pop rivet in bike tyres. I have seen echidna (Australian Spiny Anteater) quills puncture a 4wd car tyre. Nature always finds a way.

Uh. Mmm. Blake. It appears that you’ve had a puncture. Look down mate!
