The explanation for the goat legs: he’s a satyr in love with a human girl. Satyrs are controlled by their sex drive, but he loves her so much that he doesn’t want to turn her into an object. He’s slowly dying because he loves her, and he can’t have her because he wants to protect her from his own overwhelming libido. (I hope that helped !! One other small detail not mentioned here is that he's in love with her because he was shot with Cupid's arrow. This is also a theme in the music video to Will He where a woman is shot through the head with the same arrow. The killer is shown in Will He to be the woman's jealous/vengeful ex. I think "Cupid" is like his press-given serial killer name, but in Slow Dancing in the Dark the arrow has an actual "Cupid-like" effect on the satyr. Idk, he stopped exploring this storyline for now.
