It makes me think of somebody who is so done with a person that they have to cut them off and be stern when they meet up, but deep inside they still care about them. They just know they can't afford to be vulnerable with them like they used to. Which is a bitter sweet thing.

My friend passed away to suicide a month ago and while we were looking through her room after, we found sketchbooks full of faces with the lyrics to this song written beside it. i met a girl a year or so ago and fell for her hard. we used to lay on the floor in the dark and listen to this album. she was only in my life for a season, but this song in particular always reminds me of her and the way it felt to hold her. those memories are so very tender and will always hold a space in my heart. this video brought tears to my eyes. i would love if you and your dad listened to “Peacefall” by Purity Ring. xx

Those two descriptions are very different lol but they resonate with me in so many ways it's crazy
sadly, i get fully depressed hearing this song rather than being touched in a bittersweet way, but everyone reacts to music in different ways. it’s amazing how much of a universal language music is.

Music can elicit memories and emotions out of you like pavlov and his dogs. Over time I can change my relationship with a song though, if I connect to it again in a different frame of mind. I don't know if Beach House has explained why they're called that, but my interpretation of the name is like a melancholy memory of a beach house you spent your childhood at. Personally some of my best memories are from spending my summers at our family beach house, and visiting my friend's beach house with the whole gang having the times of our lives. I always think of the beautiful sunsets covering the airy rooms in a pink light, or sitting on the roof with my friends. The memories are all sweet and happy like the cherry, but sad, melancholy and depressing at the same time because I know those times will never come back.
Beach House is a place, A realm that both Alex and Victoria have created for us to visit. To lay in. A place for us to Bloom. They mentioned this in an interview.
My dad died unexpectedly on Fathers Day 2020. My dad always was opened minded to any song I threw at him. He was from the 70s rock old fashioned hispanic man. But he took the time and listened to songs I told him he "had to hear". Glad you and your dad can have this project to spend time together. Almost 3 years now and I would give anything to talk to him. Spend time with your parents now while you can. Or your grandpa,grandma, favorite uncle whoever is your rock!

You can be a lot like a step parent, any parent that spends time with you for 20 years will have an incredibly strong influence. Beach House, as best as I can describe it, makes me feel like I’m letting out a breath I’ve been holding in too long. Their music is like a sigh of relief for me, a release of tension and pressure built up inside. Love that your dad loved it and felt so deeply hearing it. I hope my parents and I can bond over my loves and interests one day instead of constantly questioning and ridiculing it.

Your father got it spot on. The lyrics are haunting and they have a power of their own. But that riff that repeats throughout the song is unlike anything. My first time listening, it absolutely went through me. The guitar sounds like it's crying - it's so hard to explain. That riff alone sends the message of the song before any of the words are sung.

This was me and my ex girlfriend's song. It was my favorite song to remind me of us, and it was the hardest challenge listening to it at all in the months following our separation. This video straight up saved it for me, and while it does still remind me of her, it doesn't hurt like it did. This is genuinely one of the greatest songs of all time, and I'm thankful to tie it to more than just one individual.

i had just sat down in the train while it was raining, this song came on shuffle and the line "who will dry your eyes, when it falls apart"? came and i started tearing up. I had realized no one, it was me, i always dried my own eyes at night, it was me who held on tight late at night with my chest so heavy and my heart keeping things hidden from loved ones. I always have this sense of loneliness even if I am loved, it goes beyond understanding and it's just there. edit: today the sun was shining and the song came on again, well, I still felt sad! I’m not sure why I like beach house so much but after watching this it made me realise that their music is how I interpret my soul to sound. Melancholy, bittersweet, almost yearning to go “home” (wherever that may be). The music has a beautiful melody that almost lets you feel the humanity in you and others come to life a bit more. It’s the in between of neither sadness nor happiness.. a place I find myself most days.

this has been on my recommended for so long and im so glad i finally watched it. they are such an incredible band. i’ve heard this song over 100 times and it always feels like the first time.
i remember listening to this on repeat a few years ago. it was a winter night, i was smoking cigarettes that i stole from my mom. we had an argument and i just needed some time to get away. i was sitting in a snow pile right off of a busy road, watching the cars go by. looking back i can still feel that sadness that i felt in my heart. but now when i listen to this song i appreciate that sadness because if it was never there i wouldn’t have pulled myself out of that situation. this is truly a beautiful song and you feel so many emotions listening to it.
God I love this. I love everything about this, it's so bittersweet to me because I want nothing more than to sit with my father and listen to music that speaks to me, and while we do have a good relationship, this is not something he would really want to do. The open-mindedness of his father is so refreshing to see. He listens so deeply and you can see the emotion in his face/actions through the entire video, you can tell he truly enjoyed this track and just vibed with it. It is one of my favorite songs and this experience just made it so much better 💗

my mother passed away in 2015 when i was 14 and after that i fell into depression. i remember finding this song and feeling so lonely but hopeful. obsessed little me wouldn’t stop replaying this song, it was sad and strangely comforting. i love this song. it always takes me back and it makes me cry but it also makes me think of how far i’ve come.

The wind was crazy and there were huge waves rolling around. I was the only person there looking out over the open ocean with only the moon providing light. Was one of the best listening experiences I have had.
I really loved this song and I listened to it on repeat for quite a while. You are lucky you got to experience this with your dad. I just lost my dad last year and much of my music taste I got from him. He drove us to and from school and sometimes after I got off work and we'd listen to his playlist and the songs he liked back then. Anyway, I listen to this song now and it makes me sad. I miss him immensely and wish I also had the chance to share a moment like this with him.

Although I’m glad Beach House is getting the global recognition they deserve, I am partly sad it has been compromised. Not out of jealousy, but more so this band has done a lot for my mental health. I made an attempt in 2019 and the first night conscious in the hospital I was listening to this song on repeat. Whenever I go into a dark place I always listen to Beach House.
I feel the exact same way. I found this particular song during one of the darkest moments in my life back in 2018, and seeing it get so popular and played so casually somewhat hurts because it holds such a special meaning to me. It gave me hope. I selfishly wish it didn’t blow up at times, but I’m glad they are getting proper recognition.

(Other than mainstream) i was more or less raised on blues, jazz, r&b and funk and obviously hiphop... Only recently have i been broadening my horizon so to speak to include all genres of music.. This has become one of my top 5 favorite shows on yt.. Usually when i discover a great show its already firmly established. it is a true privilege to be able to follow you 2 from the very beginning... Pls keep it up, your hard work and dedication will lead to great things..
This genre is alternative, poppy, and ethereal obviously, but it’s often referred to as “dream pop” and Beach House made the genre of dream pop change its sound completely. They’re legendary.

the constant melody just resonates with the feeling of how being depressed is just a continuous road of sorrow over such a painful emotion. even when it hits those high notes it’s almost as if when your so fed up of being depressed and you just want to scream your head off or even like, there being a glimpse of hope…yet you keep falling back in just like when the high notes become low again. but then again it’s just a loop with the high and lows just like threw out the song. very well done indeed
When I listen to the part of the song that says “Fall back into place”, I always think about how I changed schools and left all my real friends who I had shared half of my life with. Every night I wished everything would fall back into place. I’m still wishing.

Saw beach house on the eve of my 26th birthday this year, in the heart of Los Angeles at the Greek theater. No one could go with me, so I went solo. They’re my favorite band i and I made the best memories that night. Hearing this song along with take care was truly a spiritual experience

My friend passed away to suicide a month ago and while we were looking through her room after, we found sketchbooks full of faces with the lyrics to this song written beside it. Music can elicit memories and emotions out of you like pavlov and his dogs. Over time I can change my relationship with a song though, if I connect to it again in a different frame of mind. I don't know if Beach House has explained why they're called that, but my interpretation of the name is like a melancholy memory of a beach house you spent your childhood at. Personally some of my best memories are from spending my summers at our family beach house, and visiting my friend's beach house with the whole gang having the times of our lives. I always think of the beautiful sunsets covering the airy rooms in a pink light, or sitting on the roof with my friends. The memories are all sweet and happy like the cherry, but sad, melancholy and depressing at the same time because I know those times will never come back.

My dad died unexpectedly on Fathers Day 2020. My dad always was opened minded to any song I threw at him. He was from the 70s rock old fashioned hispanic man. But he took the time and listened to songs I told him he "had to hear". Glad you and your dad can have this project to spend time together. A beautiful summer night after highschool graduation. Had some friends going away for college and others simply moving away. I went to the military a few months later. But that one night was our last truly together young and dumb. We partied hard, tripping on great shroomys. Knowing it’ll be our last time together like this. Beach House, as best as I can describe it, makes me feel like I’m letting out a breath I’ve been holding in too long. Their music is like a sigh of relief for me, a release of tension and pressure built up inside. Love that your dad loved it and felt so deeply hearing it. I hope my parents and I can bond over my loves and interests one day instead of constantly questioning and ridiculing it.

i had just sat down in the train while it was raining, this song came on shuffle and the line "who will dry your eyes, when it falls apart"? came and i started tearing up. I had realized no one, it was me, i always dried my own eyes at night, it was me who held on tight late at night with my chest so heavy and my heart keeping things hidden from loved ones. I always have this sense of loneliness even if I am loved, it goes beyond understanding and it's just there.

I’m not sure why I like beach house so much but after watching this it made me realise that their music is how I interpret my soul to sound. Melancholy, bittersweet, almost yearning to go “home” (wherever that may be). The music has a beautiful melody that almost lets you feel the humanity in you and others come to life a bit more. this has been on my recommended for so long and im so glad i finally watched it. they are such an incredible band. i’ve heard this song over 100 times and it always feels like the first time.
i remember listening to this on repeat a few years ago. it was a winter night, i was smoking cigarettes that i stole from my mom. we had an argument and i just needed some time to get away. i was sitting in a snow pile right off of a busy road, watching the cars go by. looking back i can still feel that sadness that i felt in my heart. but now when i listen to this song i appreciate that sadness because if it was never there i wouldn’t have pulled myself out of that situation. this is truly a beautiful song and you feel so many emotions listening to it.

God I love this. I love everything about this, it's so bittersweet to me because I want nothing more than to sit with my father and listen to music that speaks to me, and while we do have a good relationship, this is not something he would really want to do. The open-mindedness of his father is so refreshing to see. He listens so deeply and you can see the emotion in his face/actions through the entire video, you can tell he truly enjoyed this track and just vibed with it. It is one of my favorite songs and this experience just made it so much better 💗

My art teacher in middle school would play this litterly every day. But it hit different on the last day and I didn't realize it till my friend mentioned it. I was like damn. Like I just realized we're growing up. I don't know how to describe it. Almost shocking kind of. Even though that was only 4 months ago we're now in highschool and honestly I love it. I hope I can have more happy memories with this song. It really helped me when I was struggling. I just cried and it felt so good. Honestly music is such a way to heal yourself from the past. Ill always remember theThe first time I heard Beach house. It was their track 'Myth' off of Bloom. It was late at night and I was standing on the end of a jetty in summer. The wind was crazy and there were huge waves rolling around. I was the only person there looking out over the open ocean with only the moon providing light. Was one of the best listening experiences I have had.

I found this particular song during one of the darkest moments in my life back in 2018, and seeing it get so popular and played so casually somewhat hurts because it holds such a special meaning to me. I found this song deep into my depression in 2016. Six years later in 2022 I had the privilege of listening to it live in a crowd less than 80. Such a life changing experience❤
honestly, i had never heard this song before, and i had the same reaction just now. just absolutely gorgeous and heavy and fulfilling and beautiful. also, this dynamic between you and pops WORKS, in every sense of the word. cheers.
i used to listen to this song on repeat when i was 13, the summer before highschool. i was going through a hard time mentally but this song was always there for me- listening to it made me feel like riding the waves of my sadness but in a beautiful way. it was one of those songs that introduced me to what good music really sounds like
Song is amazing... ive never heard this before... Growing up, I wasnt exposed to much rock and pop music.. (Other than mainstream) i was more or less raised on blues, jazz, r&b and funk and obviously hiphop... Only recently have i been broadening my horizon so to speak to include all genres of music.. This has become one of my top 5 favorite shows on yt.. Usually when i discover a great show its already firmly established. it is a true privilege to be able to follow you 2 from the very beginning... Pls keep it up, your hard work and dedication will lead to great things..
This genre is alternative, poppy, and ethereal obviously, but it’s often referred to as “dream pop” and Beach House made the genre of dream pop change its sound completely. They’re legendary.

if you like this, you will like bands like slowdive. this is dream-pop, and slowdive is shoegaze. this is similar, but in shoegaze there are more melancholic and silent voice

the constant melody just resonates with the feeling of how being depressed is just a continuous road of sorrow over such a painful emotion. even when it hits those high notes it’s almost as if when your so fed up of being depressed and you just want to scream your head off or even like, there being a glimpse of hope…yet you keep falling back in just like when the high notes become low again. but then again it’s just a loop with the high and lows just like threw out the song. very well done indeed

When I listen to the part of the song that says “Fall back into place”, I always think about how I changed schools and left all my real friends who I had shared half of my life with. Every night I wished everything would fall back into place.

Saw beach house on the eve of my 26th birthday this year, in the heart of Los Angeles at the Greek theater. No one could go with me, so I went solo. They’re my favorite band i and I made the best memories that night. Hearing this song along with take care was truly a spiritual experience
solo concerts are much more special than going with friends in my opinion ❤️

i saw them live back in february!! it was an amazing experience. being present in the moment while listening to an absolute masterpiece of a song and letting the melody sink into your skin was an unforgettable experience
started sobbing about 30 seconds in. i saw beach house in DC with my ex this past summer. we were so in love. Slow dancing to this song in the crowd, on the last day of their tour. we are no longer together. it hurts.

i’m so thankful this song is now getting the well deserved recognition it’s owed. i think it blew up on some social media and i’m glad to see that others truly can appreciate this song how deeply i’ve appreciated it. it’s been with me on my worst nights and some of my happiest days. my first time hearing this was in early high school and i felt as if i was literally opened up to an entire new world. ive showed it to a few of my friends and seeing it impact them when listening is so cool. masterpiece of a song.
