Absolutely, and I think Izzard borrowed that style but made it *really* obvious that he was 'spontaneous' even though he obviously wasn't, mostly, but it worked and connected on an ego level to our fantasies of being the 'life and soul'. I truly hope Dylan comes back to stand up, he's a true original. 💚

It is incredibly amazing how Dylan Moran can string a series of words or disparite phrases together, look like he is doing it spontaneously, and yet come up with a thought that has you laughing until you are nearly in tears.

@@plantpowered269 The last bit kinda is, if instead of Dylan Moran you have the stream-of-consciousness delivered by a horny old Irishwoman reminiscing about her love-life. That part is better than it sounds - 10/10 would recommend. If you want complete incomprehensibility, though, try "Finnegan's Wake". That'll make your eyes curl. Lads I did a double take there ...could see Dudley Moore for a second. Never skied but had a first time disastrous run on a. Ski slope roped off for sledders. Had my infant son on my lap and shoved off? Didn't realise i'd picked a run of black ice to commit suicide on! Two of us span out of control gathering speed like a whirling dervish. My brother had snowboardered ahead of us off to the right and turned to see us coming hell for leather straight for the road at the bottom. There was a bank of snow at the bottom dumped up off the road and I seriously thought we were gonna fly up n over and rocket off into the opposite side of the road. I went crab mode and dug my heels and hands down on the ice to brake us and we finally stopped about 2ft from the bank of snow. We were the spectacle of disaster for the afternoon! I had gripped my son so hard on our plastic disc of doom he burst into tears when we stopped. A dr at the top of the run was screaming...she's got whiplash! Call an ambulance! I got up after catching my breath and just cracked up laughing. Got my son laughing and happy again. So yah. I enjoy Dylans humour because it reminds me of my off the wall life and his dry rejoindres get me busting up and falling off the chair laughing. His hosts haven't a clue how to take him and that cracks me up even more. Wicked funny! Thanks Dylan! May the road rise up to meet you every where you go! Made my heart sing to hear a mind like my own. Don't change, grand just the way you are.

As a metalhead I was really hoping for a lot more abuse from Dylan, he is great with words and having spent time around Bill Bailey he will have had so much more material.
Metal is definitely linked to evolution, headbanging especially. It is true survival of the fittest, only the strongest most resilliant brain cells survive it.
Attraction wise, see if you can find another way of persuading groups of women to bend over slightly and shake vigorously from side to side. Most have a type and if your type is doing that you will enjoy the view from any angle.
Genre snobbery is rife in metal, and despite the genre Melodic Death Metal, many still haven't got the joke yet.
The dress code is interesting. One of my sister's friends used to go out regularly wearing a 3-4 inch spiked collar and I remember one of the guys saying they would love to make a move but they worried about impaling themselves on it if they tried kissing her. She wanted their mouth elsewhere and was dissapointed they hadn't figured it out.
Of course there are sub groups, Emos want to kill themselves, Goths want to kill everyone else and the standard headbangers are just amazed by their dress sense. Being in the latter group I am aware how ridiculous I have looked going out but did like that the older and more wrecked my clothes were the better I fitted in. Only as a true headbanger can you be wearing a pair of jeans you bought intact which don't have to be undone for someone to access to virtually all of your lower half.
Some older metal heads like me are sneaky and covert. I have too little hair to have it long, limited style but only Bill Bailey and Devin Townsend truly pulled of a skullet. I like light weight tech clothes because they are comfortable. I have listened to increasingly fast and heavy metal so long I do sometimes just nod to it while wearing headphones. Do not be fooled I am probably more mentally unhinged than the visibly tattooed, pierced denim and leather wearing neanderthal you came my way to get away from. Muwahaha!

@@KermitFrogThe I can't speak for the Emos, but you've definitely got the Goths wrong there lad. Despite the infiltration of Industrial Metal in the 90's, your average Goth is more of a Punk-by-way-of-New-Romantic hybrid. Not much to do with metal - and the Emos just borrowed the s**cidal ideation, I think... Lying stretched on your lover's grave is more of a Goth thing, though, ultimately. You know. Living through the deliciously unbearable agony of it all :-/

      @KermitFrogThe Před 2 lety +3

@@dontbefatuousjeffrey2494 Thank you for that. One of the other conversations is with a brainless ati-vaxxer, this was just the humour I needed.
I started off thinking this would be pure serious and that you may have missed the point but it is a good mix of truth and sarcasm, brilliant.
The metal scene tends to be where lost goths end up because they are accepted there more than any other venues where there is no specific scene.
Most I knew were actually a good laugh. When I lived in bedsit land there were a few downstairs and a group of their friends were getting ready for a night out. I was going to a dance class and whne I got back almost 2 hours later they were just finished and ready to leave saying it was a shame I couldn't come along. I told them I would demonstrate the difference between heabangers and goths. 10 minutes later, showered, changed ready to go. When my wet hair was commented on I said it would dry on the walk there.
The stereotypes are funny because they are so untrue. Metalheads are generally depicted as sub intelligent knuckle draggers, a repuation we maintain because it's funny. In truth most of the smarter end of the spectrum I know which has included professors of math and medicine have been the hardest core headbangers and dangerously covert.

One of the things I found funniest about being a Goth (in my dating days) was the perils of one-nighters. By the time you got your various piercings unhooked from mutual layers of fishnet, you were often too tired to bother going any further and just woke in the dreaded "bluetime" hours later and stared in true horror at the apparent panda lying next to you... and all that before you got to look in a mirror yourself :-D

Metal musicians only look disgusting when they cut their hair, grow mental beards and cover themselves in tattoos and piercings, the traditional heavy metal look wasn't so bad, though his is a funny comment all the same. A really witty guy.

Benign tremor of the hands and head are actually pretty common, run in a lot of families, and are harmless. Hard to know if it's that or something worse.

Not all modern metal is angry. Prolly enough it's becoming quite upbeat. Or at least angry about something important. Like deforestation, or global warming

I mean Moran's whole schtick is to explain things like he's drunk, so even though I'm a metalhead this is pretty on brand for him

@@andrewsawdon2170 Right. When you're drunk, an association occurs to you and you assert it as true. No one expects Moran to rationally analyze religion or anything else. He's intentionally superficial and absurd and occasionally very deep, but only as if by happenstance.
