I came here simply to see what Dylan Moran is like in normal interaction. Turns out he's basically the same as in Black Books without the slapstick! He never disappoints.
I did always get the feeling that his character says everything he wishes he could say in real life.I only wish there were more episodes!
Same here 😅
"Ah Bernard Black was roughly based on me, but it's definitely not me. No, definitely not. Not at all."
Moments later...
The open contempt Dylan shows Ross here is fucking magical.
Haha it really is
Ross is such a tool here.
Might have been Ross personally or just insane TV interviews. Ross failed to see that Dylan would not come out of comedic role. With someone as intelligent and witty as DM, a TV host should just let them lead the interaction.
Redondo9 You were obviously watching a different interview mate.
@@ticketyboo2456 how so?
My grandfather is a pretty stoic cynical old man and Dylan Moran in black books and when we saw him live made him laugh so much we worried he might pass out. Thank you Dylan for making my cranky old grandad nearly piss himself laughing, I'd never seen him so happy.
Your grandad sounds great! Glad he surprised you.
Your grandpa sounds adorable 😊
And that summarizes Black Books.
If this isn't one of the nicest and best compliments a comedian can get I don't know what is. I hope Dylan has finally worked out CZcams and has read this. 😊
23 now but as a kid the Only dvd set played when at grandads was black books, being a kiwi forever thankful he cemented British humour otherwise id been Americani(z)ed
Dylan is an absolute genius. Totally underrated in my opinion.
So he's underrated in your opinion? Why do you underrate him?
@@samsonwilkinson8090 I do not underrate him, I believe he is underrated by the mainstream and is often less booked than he could be just because his humor is different from what is currently popular. He my favorite comedian by a landslide.
@@vikinglore1066 He's a comedic fine wine. Most people want the McIntyre Chardonnay or the Kay Merlot. He could never be hugely popular but it's a mistake to think that this has any bearing on his genius.
He is the most clever comedian ever. His command of the English is incredible
Yes he is Irish
@@ankitshrestha4229 Did you mean command of the English language or command of the English people?
@@SirTweaksalot92 latter
@@ankitshrestha4229 That is what i was thinking too but you never know .

Morans comedic mind works at the speed of light.
Dylan Moran's brain works in mysterious ways!
He's just awesome...
"lie in bed into this vortex of sensations" his take on fantasy regarding technology is layered and extremely accurated. He has a keen eye on observing society and human behaviour. This made me think about the freakish presentation of Zukerberg's video on this dream about Meta...horible chills down the spine... Dylan is the one I turn to when I need to think, laugh and being amazed.
"I'm still settling into this century" - That line is savage AF & I love it! 😂
Huge fan of Moran, but I feel like people really underappreciate how sweet Jonathan Ross' set-ups are. He's really letting Dylan do his thing
Really? I found him annoying and ignorant. The shock that Dylan lives in Scotland, wtf was that about, for example. I enjoyed his interview with Craig Ferguson the most.
@@MB-dg3lr 8:32 2nd funniest moment next to "I've written a number of words". Ross is tremendously underrated.
I see him being quite self-effacing and conversationally generous like 90% of the time and people still seem defensive and derisive towards him. It makes me wonder if maybe they're aware of something the general public is not, or maybe they're just used to not getting such nice treatment from hosts.
@@MB-dg3lr And he repeatedly mispronounced his name. Had done basically no prep for it.
He is borderline xenophobic at the start.
Moran absolutely taking Ross out of his comfort zone
Weird how his eyes spark joy, but the rest of his body look like he just wants to sit in a corner getting shit faced on his own
Part of his enormous charm!! Besides his brilliant comedic mind
In every way he presents like a naughty schoolkid except he’s forty years old
Ah yes, I like his eyes, they seem so bright
What an excellent observation! Totally true. I think that sparkle in his eyes is the energy burn-off from his brain operating at high function.
PREVIEW: Thirteen minutes and forty-four seconds of Dylan Moran toying with Wossisname.
*Wossishisname
My old boss was exactly like Bernard Black. No positive outlook on anything, had friends he loved but didn't really like. But crankyness aside he was a hilarious guy, he'd tell you how it is and his brutal honesty and don't give a fuck attitude was hilarious. RIP Tony ❤️
I absolutely love this man.
Dawn Bastan same here , legend of a man

but does he reciprocate your affection?
@@dontbefatuousjeffrey2494 I'm sure he would if i were given the chance.
The first thirty-five times I watched this clip I thought Dylan was taking the piss out of Jonathan. Now this time I saw a hilarious interaction between the two. So keep watching .
Yes, they did reach across and play comedy chess.
Dylan is definitely my spirit animal
Well he DID predict the size of the modern do-it-all smart phone pretty accurately, didn't he?
He did, and feared it.
He said...what, 6 by 3? What units? Acres, light-years, Planck? Nothing implausible about 6mm x 3 mm.
I mean, it wasn't much of a prediction, it basically existed back then more or less.
@@ericminch "six by three inch" 13:00
Bruh, this was made in the 2000s. He didnt predict anything.
People really have an exaggerated perspective of timeflow.
i stumbled across this comedian not too long ago thanks to youtubes wierd algorithm of posting videos from years ago lol. This man is really funny and speaks the truth as well. what a legend.
Hey, he predicted the smart phone revolution. Though by his comments about his relationship to technology, I can't imagine he'd use one.
well that's only because he believes it's for sticking up your arse and he's not sure how he feels about that now
He even got the dimensions right.
When he said that it would be 6 by 3 inches, Ross thought that was too big, because in 2006 everything was getting smaller, and tiny technology was the future, but these days your average smartphone is actually around about that size!
@@TheYopogo I believe Ross thought 6 by 3 inches would be too large to put up his arse
@@thytoe but not impossible 🥺
This is Dylan in pretty much every TV interview, he definitely has a soft spot for Jonathon.
Not entirely certain what was nihlistic about that interview, but will admit that was widely entertaining. Thank you for uploading that. it made my day.
Not sure what about it was "widely" entertaining either, come to that... 😝
Mildly cynical
Robin Williams, Dylan Moran, Billy Connolly and the guys before them saved my life still do!
Loved Black Books, great show
still love watching it, despite Graham Linehan's whole increasing set of troublesome issues
Dylan is so amazingly funny, love the way his mind works!
He obviously didn't want to be there but as usual he is constantly in desperate need for cash. Awesome guy!! 🤣🤣😂😂
this is entertainment as good as it gets....thank you, both of you ❤
Black Books is brilliant, I want more! :)
That would be epic!
He’s quite clear there will be no more. He’s done that, now he’s doing something else. Why do people always want their favourite performers to keep doing the same thing; writers writing the same old story; musicians doing the same thing over and over? It makes no sense.
@@Twittler1 god forbid people enjoy a tv show
@@strangercacti5249 No problem with enjoying one. I do wish there were more episodes, but it’s not going to happen. Everyone moves on in their lives, but we expect artists to stand still. But they want and need to move on too. We don’t own them, and neither are they our servants.
It is brilliant but lets not have a "reboot" of it. It never works.
And then the cage comes down!
Dylan and Bill are the best comedians of all time. And they were on the same show!
The one with the Japanese fighting spiders inside... your mom would strike a match off her arm, light a cigarette and then tell you to go dance in the living room for money.
He was right, you never forget that shit.
I haven't watched a person hate another person that intensely in awhile
Jonathan and Craig Ferguson are the only hosts I've seen that can keep up with Dylan's wit.
Very funny and Dylan was absolutely bang on, I'm laying in bed, in the middle of the day watching this on my phone. I haven't stuck it up my arse yet though 😁😬😳
Dylan Moran is absolute genius.
Dylan, you're a legend
His stand up is insanely funny
Lovely banter. Love Dylan. ❤💕
12:58 holy sh*t. Dylan casually fortelling smartphones
I saw Dylan Moran in performance and he was just as funny in real life as here or in Black Books. I almost pissed my pants.
How refreshing! I love Dylan Moran so much! What he said was absolutely brilliant!
Wow I would love to hang out with this guy - if only he would come to Oregon-
Brilliant!!!!!💚💚💚
God I loved this programme, loved Dylan Moran and Jonathon Ross...was envious of an old boss that got tickets to see him interview Colin Farrel :)
They work together so well
I know a guy he based bernard black on. Years ago he worked in comic book shop in Edinburgh with this bloke who is exactly like B. Black. It's true 100 %.

I am watching this video on a 6 x 3 inch lump of metal which can do practially anything 😨
This is from 2006
I thought the same thing... There's only one thing left to do now 🤣🤣
Where do you keep it ?
Poor Dylan. It felt as if his publicist pushed him to do this interview. A guy like this needs someone who's stimulating his mind , and not numbing it
I can't think of a single british talk show host who could bring out the best in Dylan. Only dick cavett could have done it.
@@garyjones9910 Graham Norton! They'd tear up the audience (pronounce "tear" however you like).
He was so handsome
That has aged well!
Interesting how high above all our petty efforts on spending life one can seem while dodging to say: "drunk".
❤
I like how he invented a smartphone in that interview
the love I have for Dylan Moran....
I hope you do well with it.
Brilliant.👍
Dylan Moran -what a clever fella!
Do you have a MySpace account? Bloody hell, I have stumbled down the history channel!
I saw him on the street in Edinburgh once and now I think about it, it wasn't far from a second hand bookshop like Black Books.
Myspace .. wow, that dates this! The Tiktok/facebook of that era.
I hope Dylan and his family are getting on well with this whole quarantine thing 😊
His wife is soooo lucky to have him!
Probably all covered in jam and Nutella

Gotta admit, I love the way he thinks. It's just hilarious to hear it play out. Makes me wonder what tangent I'd go off on if I were expected to just sit on stage and talk to someone I've never met before.
“we’d mentioned potatoes there, indirectly”
“you brought it up Jonathon”
Dylan knew the famine was going to be brought up, and wanted to make sure he wasn’t the one bringing it up!
10:30 "It's bacon-suprise because it's vegatble soup."
Love him, saw him last year, but he was surprisingly cocky in this interview and Jonathan very gracious about it.

Dylan is very witty
I love Dylan FitzSimons
Dylan clearly thinks Ross is a Twatwaffle 😂

14 years old clip, yet it feels 40
Good to see Elijah Wood at 11:08 having a blast
DYLAN DOESN'T TRY TO BE FUNNY, HE JUST SAYS WHATEVER COMES TO MIND. I'VE NEVER SEEN HIM EVER START TO LAUGH OR EVEN SMILE WHEN HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE ARE LOSING THEIR SH*T. HE ACTUALLY TELLS PEOPLE NOT TO LAUGH OR CLAP BC HE FORGETS WHAT HE IS TALKING ABOUT. IMO HE IS A GENIUS WHO IS VERY BORED.
35 so this was 2006. i'm looking for newer interviews from dylan
This is when tv was still relaxed. Now you cant do anything on tv
Dylan was hilarious but have to admit, it was a little awkward to watch with the poor questions 🙈
And the total lack of research.
Jonathan Ross is so poor in this
Woss's hair! Multi-millionaire and a haircut like that.
Not aware of him as a standup? That is horseshit. He is one of the very best to ever do it.
How have I never till now come across this comedian, reminds me somehow off Dudley Moore.
i thought great chemistry!
True. Some delicious vinegar from Moran to counter Wossy's toxicity.
@@vaclav_fejt "some eel stall!"
I think Dylan is like Richard Ayoade, very tricky to interview. Jonathan didn't make it work very well, he got lost due to Dylan's brilliant mind and quirky style, just like they do in Ayoade interviews 😁 Craig Ferguson would probably have done a great interview with Dylan (has he maybe?), Craig can keep up better with non-mainstream comedians IMO.
I believe this interview could serve as the definition of contempt
In so many ways this man reminds me of the fictional character "Arthur". Hilarious
Elijah Wood laughing in the background
I like how Jonathan actually entertained him. I find Jonathan kind of annoying but this was really good!

At minute 13 he, literally, describes a smart phone. 🤣🤣🤣. Even to the, well-okay, it’s in the pocket on yer arse, but still…

So he's 50 now? I feel so old. I love him though.
Dylan predicts the iPhone!
I keep mine in my pocket
Yeah I'm waiting for a smartphone too. Ever since my last one broke.
Been watching a lot of Dylan Moran lately, this might be the first interview where the host was actually able to handle Dylan. 6:03 moment, dear god. Imagine making Dylan effin Moran lose it completely
This is years old
What year it was airing? Dylan kind of prophesied a smartphone, am I right?
I am him, now. I was the kid that he was talking about and now I'm him, talking about kids.
