  • Have you ever wanted to try weathering a model ? Me too!
    So armed with nothing more than a beginners set of Revell weather powders, 2 brushes and some borrowed Vallejo wash, I set to work making The Duchess filthy.

    Remarkable transformation, well done. Very helpful as I've just bought the same weathering kit.

      Thank you so much, it was definitely a bit of trial and error as opposed to skill level 😂😂. Have fun with the kit, its lots of fun!

    Well you did a brilliant job with that. Obviously, a great study! Very well done. Weathering is both simple and difficult for those who do it. In some ways, you really can't go wrong, but to make it look lifelike to the extreme requires a lot of layering and attention to detail. Great job on both,

      Thank you for watching Anthony! I really enjoyed this little project, I think it was a very confidence building thing to do, as you so rightly say, I couldn't really go wrong. If anything looked incorrect I could simply go over it until I was happy. It was a lot of fun and a great little kick start on the learning curve.
      Thanks once again, See you tomorrow on your live stream! I really look forward to Friday evenings! 👌👍🙂

    The Dutchess looks horrible, which means you did a great job on her. Great video, great job. A couple of thoughts, Dapol is still releasing the old kit master locomotive kits, theh would also be something inexpensive to practice on. Also, Tamiya powders come with fosn applicators, I'm not saying go out and buy them, but they are basically the same as women use with their makeup and can be gotten cheaply at local discount stores. They can be used for leaving a harder line, like where years of soot have steaked the top of the boiler near the stack.

      @shedmouthjunction  Před 9 měsíci +1

      Hi Richard, thank you so much for watching my good man. Fantastic tips with the Dapol kits, great idea. I'm loving the learning curve so anything inexpensive to practice on is great. Ill look into that for sure. 👌👌

    Looks great for what you're trying to achieve, almost imagine that laying up in a siding in the 60s waiting for retirement 🎉
    For mine where I intend on having a kinda preserved railway feel I will keep weathering quite light and based on grimey areas. I actually love weathering and using airbrush, but there's something daunting about doing it on more expensive locos so job lot buys are a good place to start. Let me know first if you want to try airbrushing, before you go buying anything I might be able to help there

    • @shedmouthjunction
      @shedmouthjunction  Před 9 měsíci

      Good evening sir! thanks for watching and of course your comments as usual my good man. I would absolutely love to try airbrushing, I've seen so many people do it on CZcams and the results look amazing. Like you say I would have to have plenty of practice on older models etc first before attempting anything 🤣I am guaranteed to get more paint on myself than on the model 😂
      Many thanks again, Very much appreciated.
      All the best, Martin
