In this Broadcast Award-winning, BAFTA and Emmy Award-nominated entertainment show, Taskmaster tyrant Greg Davies (Man Down, Cuckoo), with the help of his loyal assistant Alex Horne (The Horne Section and the show’s creator), sets out to test the wiles, wit and wisdom of five hyper-competitive comedians.
Comedians that have risked life, limb, and dignity in the hope of making the Taskmaster proud so far include: Frank Skinner (The Frank Skinner Show), Mel Giedroyc (The Great British Bake Off), Romesh Ranganathan (Asian Provocateur), Hugh Dennis (Outnumbered), Sally Phillips (Bridget Jones’ Diary), Rose Matafeo (Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner 2018), and Russell Howard (The Russell Howard Hour). Unaware of what awaits them in each wax-sealed envelope, only one competitor can become the victorious owner of His Royal Task-ness’ golden head and be crowned the next Taskmaster Champion.
The next one has to be "winners never quit" - featuring Mike Wozniak running after his balloon, Ed Gamble redoing the final episode task, Josh Widdicombe dutifully counting beans, etc.

Yeah, that's pretty much it, plus a bunch of party-sized sausage rolls, I think? A pretty decent-looking meal, all in all.
I like how nobody is even particularly surprised that Nish didn't think to pick up the coconut; by the finale episode everyone is just like "Yeah of course Nish fucked it up in the most unbelievable way imaginable."
That one task perfectly summed up Nish's entire series!! 😂
I love how he is the exact opposite of Mike Wozniak (jumping over the fence to get the balloon), yet they both seemed to have a lovely time on the show!
At no point did he even think he could've just picked up the coconut again, you can see how shocked he is when they tell him!

@@VNdoug Yes, definitely a favourite of mine too. My favourite contestants are always the ones who embrace the absurdity of the show. Nish, Mike, James, Romesh, Bob, Sally, Al, Charlotte, Liza, to name a few.
Sometimes I’m surprised the contestants give up so easily, but far more often I’m surprised at how willing they are to keep going at something they’re obviously terrible at and have no chance of completing in any reasonable amount of time. I just love how dedicated they (almost always) are to this amazingly absurd show!
Well, they are entertainers by profession. They know we'll enjoy watching them even when they're failing.
They usually only quit when they know they're screwed and there's absolutely no way of making it interesting without playing the fool.
However, some contestants absolutely bask in both their victories and failures. Sometimes you utterly fail to ge a cat out of tree, sometimes you disguise yourself as a banana.
The season is not shot in order plus they film several tasks a day so I imagine they are enthusiastic at first but they start losing hope towards the end of the filming.
I feel like the absolute pinnacle of glorious failures was the "get the egg in the frying pan" task in season 10, just absolute madness
@@sslizard it was incredible, I will never understand what a person’s mental state will have to be like for them to get to the point where they think filling an egg with helium is a good idea but I loved every second of it

Not a fan of Iain’s tantrums in general (him and Lou Sanders, yikes!) but I agree on this one - he called it perfectly :)
Iain getting genuinely, visibly upset at his own performance on tasks is still some of the best telly broadcast.

I mean honestly though….you’re given a free pass to a fully stocked kitchen and don’t have to pay for the food or probably do the clean up. Joe’s reaction is probably the best move ever. One question though. Ketchup on what looks like actual fine salami. Why?!
Let alone that he didnt really quit. In fact, he was placed 4th. That's 100% a win in my book.
As for your question, I mean, why have tomato sauce on a salami pizza? It's extra flavor. My bigger question is if he actually ended up finishing the plate or not.

@@Predated2 No they aren't. Pizza sauce should contain tomatoes and maybe basil if it's made right. Ketchup is loaded with sugar and other seasonings. I'm pretty sure that ketchup had more sugar than a bowl of cocoa puffs.

I like how they showed joe making a full meal out of his egg and just not trying to be fast, whereas Katherine was the one who literally quit on that same task lol
Richard Osman also completely gave up on rescuing Patatas from the tree, despite being the tallest contestant (and after Katherine Ryan had suggested he could just basically reach up, LOL).
I just love that the cat was fucking named “Patatas”. I can’t remember so someone please tell me - was there a theme of potatoes in Series 2?
@@nommyyt - Yes, that was the year there were 2 stop motion movies, I think they were "Night of the Living Spud" and the other was James Bond themed. Also, that was the year Joe Wilkinson threw the potato from the edge of the red green into a golf hole on his very first attempt, but it was taken away from him during the audience reveal of the task because it appeared he had a toe on the red green.
Other cast members that year were Katherine Ryan, John Richardson, Richard Osman and Doc Brown.
The guy had poor eyesight and tried for 45 minutes

I'm terrible with names so forgive me, but I think it's funny that they included the one guy who made a full meal for the egg task but not the girl who actually didn't even eat the egg and just quit.

I often wonder if Rhod messing with the other switch genuinely meant that Alex wasn't getting the signal any more, making it technically true.
The switch never was the signal.
Alex rotated the statue when they went back in the house.
One of them caught him halfway through but coming them outagain quikly enough.

@@mattkennedy9308 Teh switch was the signal for him to rotate it in the first place, though. So the switch really activated Alex.
I think Rhod was right... The switch didn't do anything, Alex did when they went back inside. Thought they'd give him points for that.
The wording of the task is “work out what happens when you flip the switch on” not “what does this switch do”. So Rhod was wrong, because when the switch is flipped on, Alex turns Ollie.
Also he insulted Greg, so...
Running themes in Taskmaster Tasks:
Of course the yellow duckies of all sizes,
Watermelon (eat as much as you can, feed your teammates, push it up a slide),
Red Greens (constantly)
Eggs (raising, dropping, throwing, golfing, eating)
Potatoes (tossing, make a movie) and the cat Potatas :)
Pineapples (the golden one and real - eat as much as you can, hide it on your body)
Peas (green peas and chick peas)
Coconuts (lots in every series)
and now... Breadsticks (twice in series 9)
Obviously the things that populate the house like Alex, the cow, the trailer, the bathtub, the Golden Pineapple and images of Greg. Did I miss any really obvious ones?
You forgot the task in series 7, where the two teams had to paint a drawing while one member was blindfolded. There was a small duckie, a watermelon and so on.
@@soul9735 - Yes, I mentioned duckies and watermelons.... I guess not every possible instance of their use, just a few to get the general idea. I guess painting and drawing could be another often seen theme, more of a task based rather than item based.

The next one you should do should be times Greg is used in a prize task. For example, his stolen pants from Mark Watson, Ed Gamble stealing from his house, Rhod breaking into his house, etc.

It's weird that they chose to put Joe Wilkinson actually no giving up with the egg eating, when Katherine Ryan did give up that task and ended up losing.

@@Ertwin123 The saying goes "quitters NEVER win" not "quitters always lose the specific thing they quit". It's 100% relevant. Nobody featured here won their series, so there's more concrete evidence that it was intentional than that it was coincidence.

@@strangerthanstring4431 I thought that they could rip one of the plastic sheets around the room down and use it to collect the sand, then tip the sand into the bucket.
I'm surprised how many contestants go with the initial setup even if it is not mentioned in the task. Like when they were given a telescope and everyone struggled to read the task through it instead of just walking to the caravan. Or here, they willingly keep their hand tied to the bucket even after reading the task which never mentioned that they need to keep the hand in the loop.
Stacking cans and naming countries was a good one, because one realised that the rope could be untied.

I genuinely lost a lot of respect for Baddiel due to taskmaster. I thought he was funny and intelligent. He's either so genius that he looped back to idiot, or else he's just the least practical person on the planet. Just zero common sense.
But I think this was the only time he actually gave up on a task. He's staggeringly inept, but he always tried.

Like I don't know about you, but I graduated college with a science degree and a 3.9 gpa, but I guarantee if I went on this show I would be just as incompetent and make baffling decisions because my brain shuts down when I'm timed and under pressure.

@WeirdNeville Yes I did, and I bet you and I would be just as incompetent. Like the lasso challenge, the logic behind that makes perfect sense to me. It's difficult to throw a light rope, so you find something to give it weight, ie a spoon, the spoon kinda works so you think, another spoon to keep the lasso open. Now that's not working so switch to something easier to throw, a football. As for flipping the task with my mouth instead of my hands, I can see myself doing the exact same thing, oh my hands are busy, I'll use my mouth. The Q task, he made an unlucky choice, and instead of scrambling for something that begins with Q he tried to bullshit it, because he thought there wouldn't be anything he could find, which is very understandable if you've never seen the show before like him. There's different kinds of intelligence. Alex has even said in interviews, they find that the higher the degree a contestant has, the worse they do. It's like how if you've ever taken a psych class, you learn how IQ tests are bullshit. Also if you think he's so stupid, how do you explain his degree from Cambridge. I'm personally great at science, stick me in a foreign language class and I absolutely suck. Hell, even some science, I have always sucked at the electricity portion of any physics class. That doesn't make me stupid, and neither would someone else being bad at the things I'm good at.
They should do a loveable losers series and bring back folks like Joe and Nish, for example. Love their heart.

Im annoyed by the wording of the video and the fact that Joe Wilkinson didn't give up on the eat an egg task- Katherine Ryan actually gave up fully. Joe ate the egg.
i think with that instance the wording should be taken literally, Joe didn't quit and so despite taking so long he still placed 4th; also, Taskmaster is infamous, notorious, well-known, and looked at askance for its' perplexing or cryptic wording; the fact it backfires on them sometimes when contestants find valid loopholes just makes it all the better

Roisin still did the task but she did it on a mechanical horse, so she never technically quit.

For the sand one, the rules never stated you couldn't just remove your hand from the string's loop.
They need to have a show that has on people who came in last on precious seasons. It would be the funniest season by far

I don't consider Nish as quitting the Task as much as not understanding the directions. He seemed to think he only had 1 try even though the Task didn't say it. That clip should have been replaced with Richard Osman's "Rescue the Cat."

I just had two interesting ideas for the coconut task (I’ve never seen that before, haven’t got full access to the show where I am)
Could ask the crew to lay out all their shoes like stepping stones, and then try and find a scooter or some sort of wheeled transport. If you had a long stick you could push yourself around without putting your feet down
Or, you could get as much rope and string as you could find, secure the coconut in a little harness, have a car brought to the door, get to it with a few stepping stones then drive as far as you can with one end of the string, and then park the car, put the passenger car mat down, get out, stand on the mat, reel in the coconut, and then throw it
The Moriarty one when they have dirty a room and clean it the best in a set time and hejust decides not to attempt the clean and just trash the kitchen for the entire time.
Nish is my favorite contestant ever.
