To be fair it actually does use some of the same choreography from Akira's previous works.

It does. It's hard for me, though, because I absolutely adore the animation in Eps 130-131 of Super. But Broly is something else.

I saw it in theaters. It got more audience reaction and applause than any movie I've seen, which I never expected from a Dragonball movie. There was laughter throughout. There was applause when Broly went super saiyan, when Goku and Vegeta fused, and when Goku told Broly to call him Kakarot.

An experience that can’t be replicated
This may be controversial but I almost want more Dragon Ball movies instead of tv episodes if it means we get this level of high quality animation and brief but deep and amazing level of writing.
Also if there are more episodes of Super they ave Broly in the main cast and have his arc be to control his power without going Wolverine Brezerker rage.
Side Note: the reason Goku’s parents don’t go with him to earth is far better and makes more sense than the reasons Superman’s parents don’t go with him in any continuity.
Honestly I've had this opinion ever since Dragon Ball came back and learning Super would redo Battle of Gods and Resurrection F. There have been some nice moments in the story of some arcs in Super due to it being a TV series that wouldn't fit in a movie but I can't help but feel the series had way too much fluff and wasted content especially for one that has over 130 episodes with probably more on the way.
The Super Broly Movie had a lot of stuff to the point that most of it got cut out to have it fit the stndard film run time but it's a good example of content and story density that I hope further Dragon Ball content follows since the movie is just pure concentrated Draagon Ball through and through. More movies, please!
Imagine future arcs where Goten and Trunks are the main characters and Broly is their third wheel. He just follows along listening to them as they teach him stuff and when they get in super deep shit and cant fight something to over powered bug bro Borly comes in to whoop some ass. Maybe they play aroun din a spaceship and accidently take off across the galaxy to a new sector of the universe.
Kinda worried that if Super or any future installment includes Broly, then they might have to recreate the movie on a television budget like what they did in the early parts of dbs
@@dysn3961 They would have to I assume. Theres no way they would not try to make more money off already planned out plot. Means more episodes and stuff to sell. Then theres just the idea that they never used movie stuff before as stand in material. Even if it is "canon" it's not official until its put into show format

Fun fact. There is almost nothing that's actually retconned in this movie. The bardock special was never really cannon. And every single scene of baby goku in the show? Never actually existed in the manga and was filler.
Lol the movie is completely canon it’s from Toriyamas script. Not even going to argue. The creator wrote this storyline with no ones input and this is canon.

Paulo Dilas The Bardock special was never canon. It was written by Toei writers instead of Toriyama, and even contradicts the main series.
At the end of the special, Grandpa Gohan finds Goku near his pod, and Goku is already happy and easygoing. This goes against what is said in the manga and the anime, where Roshi says that Goku was wild and disobedient for a while until one day he fell and hit his head.
Instead of just believing the special is canon, maybe use your brain idiot.

I would have watched in theaters if they showed the sub version. Unfortunately they only showed the horrible dub and it was not worth it to sully the experience.

They do redo the origin, there was a companion manga called Dragon Ball Minus that follows most of this; meeting Gine - Goku's Mother - and seeing her and Bardock send Goku away. It got mixed reviews, people preferred that Bardock was an asshole and that it was one of few things that was different to the Superman story.
The best thing about this movie though is that Broly isn't a ridiculous character triggered by Goku's crying, they killed all that forced beef and made his berserker rage something more feasible; he has Ozaru level strength at base form (you can tell my his eyes turning yellow) and he only acts out of primal impulse given his father's neglect.
Another star of the show is definitely Cheelai, Zamasu and Bulma's fusion lovechild. Equal parts sassy and caring to balance Broly's naivety and fury.

Because this version of Goku is literally just a ripoff of Superman, and that sucks ass. Combined this with that dumb shit about the wish in the Granolah arc, and I find myself wishing they just never made Battle of Gods.

This is my only fix because I was dumb enough to not record my 1st time watching this movie on its 2nd night in my city theater. Audience was still crazy for nights. I still wanted to keep reliving being in theater with hundreds cheering, roaring, laughing and clapping. Thank you guys for reacting to whole movie, I can finally do those stuff along.

I still prefer the Bardock special even if the author says it’s non canon. Other then introducing Goku’s mom Dragon ball minus added nothing to the series, made Bardock a more boring character, and made Goku’s backstory to special when it shouldn’t have been.

Technically when frieza took command of the saiyans he wasn’t a kid he was 40 years old and as of right now he’s 85
The SSJ was a children's fairy tail but what Gine forgot is that Freeza was a child at this point.

I know this is late but this movie confirmed that goku actually had a good bit of potential as a baby. In the beginning, Bardock said that goku would be sent away because of his hidden potential, which means it might have even been close to vegeta's since king vegeta said that prince vegeta was second highest, right below broly. Then again, goku's could have been higher than vegeta's because king vegeta responded to broly stats being higher than prince vegeta by sending broly away, the same way he responded to kid goku's hidden potential.
