I know George was in his 40s but I work with seniors and have had people say 'Ill come by and see you tomorrow' and they never make it. Sometimes you don't get a super dignified ending with a big speech that cuts hard. Sometimes it's just something where you go 'alright I'll talk to them later' and there is no later, and you deal with it
Usually I don’t have any reaction to people dying in shows but this show is the only one that made me not smile for hours because I was so hooked to George and the show😢
Me too, I watched many series with people dying, Violetta disney channel, finding Nemo his mom's death, John Q, Grey's anatomy, Inside out Bing Bong's death and so one, in neither of those series moved me as much as this series did. I knew it was coming, but I still suffered after George's death, still took me by surprise. He was a very carring father who would never let harm happen to his family. 😢
I lost my wife suddenly and my daughter was in her freshman year of college. We have talked about the memories and emotions of Mary and Sheldon. She never moved beyond anger and I think Sheldon is the same. They only remember the negatives as a way to cope. Missy will regret not taking that last ride, but it should be balanced with the relationship she had with her dad. He was the guy who taught her how to pitch.
When her mom says about watching her daughter fall apart that hit me. I always see her as the spunky grandmother. Sometimes I forget that having your child all grown up with their own family, doesn't mean you stop hurting and feeling helpless when life throws them a curveball. Not sure if that makes sense.
The expression of Mary the moment she hears the news. The transformation. She realises that it is now upto her to take care of everything and handle everything and be strong. She is sad and crying and also realising the job in front of her.
Iain nailed the 'perplexed squint' of adult Sheldon flawlessly, also he looks so much more like his character with the double layer long sleeve and T-shirt like we know from TBBT. With that said, I never expected George Sr.'s death to hit me as hard as it did.
I did not expect it to go like this. I thought one of them would be there when it happened, he would go to the hospital, there'd be heartfelt words exchanged and then a doctor would come out and say he's gone. There is something about it being just a normal morning and then the family waiting on him, only to be informed by his colleagues that he's gone. It hit hard!!!! No real goodbye.

Sheldon's reaction was my own when I heard about my grandma dying... I just stumbled and sat on the sofa. It was so sureal,I could hear and see everyone yet everything felt so distant... If I hadn't worn my glasses I wouldn't have even realised I was crying...🥺😭

Some people have different ways of expressing grief. They'll "smile" or nervous laugh in serious situations like life or death and grief, but they're not actually happy or finding the situation funny. It's a coping mechanism to self regulate their emotions when under a lot of pressure or stress or emotional turmoil kind of like tears of joy when someone's just so happy. Admittedly it is weird to see in action.

George dying off screen hit way more emotionally in my opinion cause it felt like my dad's death dad went to go for a rare drink at the bar with the boys to celebrate his childhood best friend's engagement then a few hours later the police turned up said he'd been one hit punched trying to defend his mate from a homophobic guy and dad had suffered a fatal heart attack due to the punch i regret that day every single moment of my life cause i got into an argument with my dad and the last thing i told him was "i hate you" anyone reading this if you ever get into an argument with your loved ones please don't leave it on bad terms tell them how much you love them in case something bad does happen
I think Kony got a double whammy. George was the only person who was a copy of her. He is witty, pragmatic and incredibly loves his family. And in many episodes it was shown that Mary's father's death was in the past for her, but it was quite painful. I don't think she would ever want her only daughter to go through the same tragedy in her life.

You do." These words caused Howard to smile as Sheldon could relate to his grief while surprising the others with his understanding.
"I feel bad for everyone but sheldon" I'm gonna go ahead and assume you didn't watch either Big Bang Theory or this show. Sheldon should be the one you feel the worst for, because George was the one who did everything to be there for sheldon. While Mary tried to treat Sheldon like nothing more than just a weird kid, George actually treated Sheldon properly. and in BBT, Sheldon misses his dad dearly.
