      It's pretty much May and Rishi still trying to dodge GE questions. He wants flights going in Summer and through the autumn to the headbangers drumbeat but he has 16 days recess already between now and the July 23rd summer recess which has a TBA return. That leaves about 5 months to fit in an election AND get planes in the air AND deal with whatever crazy shenanigans the backbenchers get up to (politically I mean, not the general groping, funds misuse or lining their mates pockets shenanigans).

    Israel had a "voluntary departure" scheme for 4,000 migrant deportations with Rwanda between 2014 and 2017. Most were driven straight to the border. Almost all are thought to have left the country almost immediately, with many attempting to return to Europe via people-smuggling routes.
    Rwandan homes that were previously earmarked to house migrants deported from the UK have already been sold to local buyers. the developer has said.
    Some 70% of the 163 affordable homes on the Bwiza Riverside estate have been sold, the developer ADHI-Rwanda said.
    On top of the £220 million Britain has already paid Rwanda, the UK government has agreed to pay an extra £150 million over the next three years, and £120 million pounds once the first 300 asylum seekers have been resettled, the National Audit Office (NAO) said on Friday 1st March 2024. Still not one person has been sent to Rwanda.

    • @Jordan_Starr
      @Jordan_Starr Před měsícem

      This.
      It's interesting to me because usually a lack of eye contact and fidgety body language implies somebody's nervous. But with Rishi it comes off far more like impatience - as though he's resentful of the fact that he has to answer your question because he considers it beneath him.
      It dials up a notch when the person asking the question is a woman too. And there's a slight change in his language - for example I've noticed he HATES having to explain something twice and with men he'll typically say something like "well, I'll refer to what I said earlier..." in a serious but impatient tone.
      With women however, he usually stops looking down / faffing and suddenly looks them straight in the eye, and with a smirk on his face he'll say "Look, I don't want to waste everyone's time going over things I've already said today, I've been very clear..."
      Also he lets men interrupt him but if a woman tries to he just keeps on talking but louder. It makes the panels/ inquiries he gets questioned on sooo frustrating to watch 🙃🙃🙃
