In that time I’ve aged about 20 years, I’ve gone grey, I’m sleep-deprived, constantly exhausted, and I have no free time. And after tax and commuting costs, in real terms I’m earning less than minimum wage for working about 50 hours a week. When I had a heart attack some 4 years ago I was signed off for 6 weeks following it - I didn't claim any benefits during this time, I was lucky enough that the company I worked for covered my wages during this period, but without those 6 weeks I would have never recovered and would more likely be dead right now. This is the fault of the government also as they took away all checks and balances during Covid for mental health related benefits as emergency measures and never reinstated them. To be fair, dead people don't fill out surveys, so this data has some inaccuracies, but the successful suicides caused by the disability assessment process is estimated to be about 200 a year. This is what the benefit system does to the most vulnerable people, so it isn't exactly stress free to deal with them when they are less worried about actually killing people. Sunak does have the right to spell his opinions on poverty if he wants too - he was born from first gen immigrants who worked hard. He also worked hard to get good grades. He even worked as a waiter during the summer holidays in a restaurant when he was a teenager. He later on got into the business sector.
