The Amex Platinum Card - Honest 1 Year Review (2022)

- In this video, I talk about my 1 year Amex Platinum card review for 2022 and whether or not I get enough value from the Amex Platinum card credits. If you are asking, “Is the Amex Platinum worth it?” then this video will be helpful as we go over the things to know about this popular American Express credit card. With many credit cards available today, especially travel credit cards, it can be tough to know if such an expensive card like the Amex Platinum can be good to have. But in my case, as we talk about throughout the video, the Amex Platinum benefits and Amex Platinum credits are very much worth the $695 annual fee!
This video will be more of a personal year long overview of how the American Express Platinum card has played a role in my lifestyle and spending habits over the past year. Hopefully, as I go through this credit card review, you will be able to see why I think the Amex Platinum is one of the best credit cards of 2022!
But while the Platinum card is worth it for me, it might not be worth it for you because we all live different lives and have different ways that we like to spend our money. So feel free to check out any of my other videos below where I compare the Amex Platinum to some other premium travel credit cards.

Had Platinum for 6 years, and I have saved over 9K just by using the card thru by points and travel savings.
Awesome to hear! Sounds like you’re using the card to it’s fullest potential 👍
How much do you make a year and what do you use Amex card for expenses
Capitol one cards have huge Macy's saving sometimes 20% off on everything on the site. Even polo and cologne
@@ljrivas91 90K. Sales Executive. I use Amex Platinum or Gold for everything except gas . Value 2 cents per 1 point. 5k on airlines
@@stimulatemyexistence5669 sounds like this guy isn't using credit for a Macy's.
Recommend mentioning that for active duty members and their spouses, the $695 fee is waived. This is by far the best card I own because of all the benefits and none of the fees. Great overview video.
Didn’t know this
Is that the same for Veteran / Disabled Vets?
@@byronalexander5785 I’m not sure of that. Definitely worth a call to Amex to verify though.
Yes I just got mines my husband is active duty and I’m a veteran and got
The annual fee waived because he’s active duty
@@Sweetsmellingarmyveteran when he gets that DD-214 it will come with the fees as well for the card. It's only for active duty military and their spouses when its waived.
Solid video man, really appreciate the raw honesty for such a premium card. Personally, I can’t justify the Amex Plat or Gold quite yet like I thought I would months ago. Your insight about not spending the money without the card, it then doesn’t make sense to apply for a card for the credits has been super helpful!
I've had the card for 20 years and first bought it when I was traveling over 150 days a year. It's without doubt worth it in that case. That said, if you travel by airplane more than 4 times a year, it's also totally worth it. "Clear" for free, $200 Travel credit, Lounges (which are "nice" in normal conditions but HUGE when a flight is cancelled at the airport) and other smaller perks. IF you travel, you have to have it! Otherwise, kind of a waste of money.
Do most US and international lounges have the Amex lounge?
@@superseiyan The Centurion Lounge is the best out there. However, it's not at every airport. You always have to check the AMEX website before you travel to see if it's at the airport you are using that day. With the 2-hour before flight arrival requirement, it's very nice to sit in the lounge and have a nice meal with a glass of wine.
@@superseiyan If you get AMEX platinum you get priority pass, which allows access to most airport lounges globally.
I agree and if you have the platinum card, you don’t really need the delta reserve or Hilton/Marriott cards.
Charging the lounge for guests in 2023 was a huge turn-off for my wife and I.
Good-bye AMEX.
It has been my favorite card I have gotten thus far. Like you I get positive value so “getting paid” for the travel insurance and lounges is great. I have gone on 2 trips in the past year in which the lounges have really been a game changer (priority pass lounge in Istanbul for two 5 hour layovers and the centurion lounge in Denver during a 2.5hr delay with my family). Really does make the worst part of being in an airport enjoyable
Nice! Yeah I agree, those airport lounges would really be useful in those situation so its sounds like the Platinum Card is definitely worth it for you. Thanks as always for the comment Andrew!
This video was extremely helpful detailing all the benefits of the card, especially for travel purposes! My wife is from Mexico so we will be flying frequently to visit family down there!

Where do you see the membership reward points reflected on your account? I enrolled two days ago when I got the 150,000 reward points offer. After getting the card, I see no mention of it in my account.
There is a minimum spend requirement you have to reach to get the points. It’s what Amex says on the offer page. So it might be $6,000 on the card in 6 months depending on what offer you got
@@Daniel_Braun yes, I saw that part. I was just trying to find out if your account reflects that sign up bonus offer anywhere? I looked through emails, my account, and welcome letter, but did not see mention of the SUB. I only saw the 150k SBU when I enrolled, but haven’t seen it documented anywhere other than that initial window. Is that normal?
Yeah that’s normal, as long as it said that offer on your page when you signed up then you’re good to go. I don’t think there’s a tracker on the Amex account for it
@@Daniel_Braun thank you for taking the time to answer!
Can’t wait to see what kind of retention offer they give you! Great video as always Daniel!
That's what I noticed this past year as well with lounges in general is that they are now even harder to use due to many having shortened or "adjusted" hours. Centurion may not be having these issues but my experience with Priority Pass lounges has been coming across most lounges being closed earlier in the evening or opening later in the morning than what you would expect.
I’m pretty disappointed with Priority Pass. So many lounges are closed, but listed as open on the app/website.
Priority pass I have never used in my 3 years with chase reserve
Good job Danny. Excellent job. I don't carry this card, but enjoyed your experience and opinions, as usual.
Thanks for the great overview. I think this card makes more sense in the US. Here in the UK it's a struggle to find retailers who will accept it because of the higher transaction fee, and the points and benefits package are different but overall probably less generous
Yes. I binned mine and got the platinum credit card instead, which is free. I had my wife as an additional card holder but she couldn’t use airport lounges as only the original card holder can which I found absurd. Like you said, in the UK so many places don’t take it so I would never pay for it.
Informative and personal... awesome job! Thank you!
Great video Daniel! I'm on the other side of you and I am not finding myself getting enough value out of the platinum card. So when I hit the one-year mark on this card, I will be calling for a retention offer too. Also I love the concierge service and I try to make a lot of use through them
So resourceful!!! Thank you thank you ❤️
Good job Daniel, this is a good and personal review!
I have the opposite perspective on lounges in that I refuse to take early morning flights. I see lounges as part of the flying experience, so it’s mandatory for me to eat and drink 3 hours before my flight. If I want to save time on a long flight, I’d rather take an evening flight where I can catch the tail end of the lounge hours and then sleep on the plane
Thanks so much for this! I really love hearing real world applications -- great note about the lounges and security lines. I'm in a very similar situation as you, with having another person I always travel with. I I've been going back and forth about getting this card and what I'm feeling is, if that annual fee makes you sweat a little bit, just wait until you can really afford it.
Upgraded to this card and it arrived today - pretty excited about it. Nice review!
Loved hearing about your detailed personal experience with the Platinum card! I also went with the Mehretu design - good choice! Great video as always Daniel!
Daniel, I just found out that Amex actually increases the rates for the Fine Hotels & Resorts for Platinum members in return for the $100 credit and other benefits. In one case I realized my stay was going to be $490 greater as a Platinum member than it would be booking as a regular Gold member for example. The math completely does not add-up and they advertise these benefits as being complimentary to Platinum members. This basically cancels out the value of this benefit...I wonder how many people don't realize they are being ripped off.
BIG FACTS! ...I found better results on BOOKING. It doesn't make sense
agreed but most people are bad at math. They feel like they are getting all of these free credits by amex lol.
So Very Helpful. Thank you
1st off, didn't notice the lack of the lavalier mic in ur last video until you mentioned u got a new mic. AND now u got that Bokeh with the new lens too. 📈 production value just keeps going up.
Really interesting to see another perspective on this card! Have you been able to get targeted for any of the 15, 30, or even 50% off Amazon purchases? That and being able to get retention offers makes this a keeper for me for sure!
Is this real? That would work great for me
If you combine the clear credit with a United or Delta frequent flyer membership you can get the base membership for $120, and then an additional person on that membership is $60. Two for the price of one.
Good card to have especially if an emergency arises since you don't have a ordinary credit limit!
Nice review, I just got the business gold card and I will more than likely get the platinum especially after watching this review.
Acquired this card and after about a year of use, I can’t justify keeping it. I don’t travel more than 3-5 times by airplane per year, the 1x points on everything do not add up quickly, and it’s fairly easy to not use a majority of the benefits that the card offers. Not for me. Imo if you travel a lot, of course this is an excellent card.
Another good, informative video Daniel, can't help but notice the Capital One swoosh in yellow on your art card.
Thanks so much Mark! Lol yeah I noticed that too, I can't believe Amex approved that to be on the design!
Hey Daniel! I recently came across your channel and have been enjoying your content on personal finance. I’m looking to set up a HYSA and was wondering which one you use/recommend?
very informitive thank you for the research
Thanks so much Adrian, I really appreciate the support! 👍
Thanks for your info, I just order the new designed card and it is on its way. You are awesome:)
Hi Daniel, do you know if hotels are booked through Amex, would you still be able to earn points under Hilton membership or other Hotels? And if you are a gold member would you still be able enjoy the gold membership benefits? Many thanks!
Travel often, love it. Appreciate your input.
Happy to help, thank you for watching!
Great video! I've had the Platnium for years and will always have it. Great card!
Nice, yeah I personally like the card as well!
What's your thoughts on getting the Amex platinum vs getting the Amex Delta platinum? Which one would you get?
Amazing video🔥
Great review! My husband and I got it this year and are also wondering how or if we will use it to its full potential
We can all look up the benefits, this real world review explaining the benefits and how they worked out for you is much more useful
great video. in order to utlilize the $200 airline incidental fee for seat assignment upgrades, do i have to pay for the ticket first seperately with Amex Travel, and then, pay separately for the seat upgrades? or is there another easier way? thank you!
It is easy to get tangled into the huge numbers (Amex MR points: 100-125-150K and 5X Points), but at the end, if you value cashback, MR points still value lower than most other Cash-back cards. Something to remember!
Yeah very important thing to consider as well! MR points are not to be used as cash back! Unless you get the Schwab version of the platinum card. Same card but points are worth 1.1 cents per point into a Schwab brokerage account so then it’s worth it for cash back a little bit more
Great video I just got the card and I have to say for me is absolutely worth it because, AMEX waived the annual fees for all active duty military. So overall great value for anyone serving 🇺🇸
We just got it as well because of this! The best part is that it was automatically applied to the card once we were approved. Didnt have to submit anything extra! So worth it
As an employee it's amazing to read these comments. Takes me back to the time I used to get all excited while telling my military clients that their fee is going to be waived off, and their reaction was PURE JOY!
Exactly! That’s why I got it and it’s great!
what do you have to show them if your active military
@@REALMEXREV call customer service let them know you are in the military , if you are on active duty when you input your SSN on the application they will automatically be able to verify that you are in the military that way and you are good to go my friend not just for this card but basically any cc AMEX offers.
Glad I watched this. The remark about Centurion Lounge charging for any additional guests is a deal breaker for me. Also the limited, expensive options for the hotel credit. That’s a tough sell for $700. The credits for like Equinox and Wal Mart Plus are too specific.
I agree. The great thing is that being in the military, the annual fee is waived.
Thank you for your content. Are you able to get the sign up bonus on the personal Amex Platinum if you already have the business Amex Platinum?
Loved the video . Platinum is one of the best cards for sure
Great info!
Thanks so much Bill! 👍
In my mind, the real question is, what if you put that same spend through one or more other credit cards with lower or no annual fees? It is entirely possible that you might come out even farther ahead by sticking to lower-cost cards. That has been my experience when I have run the numbers for my spending patterns.
Thanks for sharing your real-world experience.
What cards are you thinking of?
Would love to hear more about your spending habits with multiple cards!
@@tiffanyonwudinanti how about the same spending with the gold card instead?
But the Amex platinum card is cuter though
As you said it’s all about your spending habits. If it’s automatic that you’ll hit the bonus requirement by using it as a charge card and for every possible expense you usually would use multiple cards for or your debit card then it makes sense to have it. Also if you ALREADY travel and will use the credits and benefits it’s useful. But if you have to go out of your way for any of this then definitely don’t do it.
Awesome review thank you. I have the gold card and want platinum as well
Nice video. Can you share some tips how you book flights and find best value of fare when booking airline? Thanks for the video.
Thanks for the video as I have been on the fence on whether or not the card would be worth it for me. One thing I would be curious to know is regarding Amex offers from the Platinum specifically, which ones you have taken advantage of and how much it has saved you. I have found that has definetely come into play with my BCP.
Even though they are doing away with the completely complimentary guest for the lounges, you can continue to get it 2023 and on if you do a minimum spend of $75,000 in the previous calendar year.
it's a great card if you travel enough and use it the right way, else its just an expensive paper weight in your wallet. I do plan on keeping mine (at least for now) since I do benefit from it. Great vid as always and curious to see what retention offer they give you..Thanks Daniel 🤙🏽
Is USA domestic 3-4 times a year and 1-2 international worth it or in that case just go gold?
@@superseiyan Honestly, if you can take advantage of enough of the credits/benefits to justify the $695 fee I would say yes, but if not, I would just do the Gold. The Gold card even though it gives 3x on Flights, it's a lot more usable for everyday for Grocery and Dining compared to the Platinum. Hope that helps
4 year member at $550 p/yr was just about worth it fees but for $695 my take is as follows :
-once your welcome spending multiplier expires Every day spending 1x1 is horrible.
-Few and between monthly promotions.
-All the credit through travel e.g airline and resort credits are basically your annual fee paid up front so not a real perk.
- taking away a guest pass for centurion club visits.
-Amex Plath is basically an expensive coupon book.
Canceled once the $695 went in effect.
Chase sapphire holds more value IMHO.
IMO…those designs are hideous, I’ll stick with the simple, platinum look. A card with this type of annual fees should look nice and slick…not like some kid who painted on it. Just my two cents 🤷🏻♀️
I strongly disagree but I enjoyed reading this comment nonetheless. To each their own.
Shut up Karen lol
That's how I felt. Keep it simple and sleek, don't over do it. I feel like that kind of stuff should belong on a debit card
@@Neiji_SF it always reminds me of the Luxury Card GOLD, BLACK, TITANIUM. They looked so embarrassingly gaudy trying to shout at you what they were.
When people see the Gold or Platinum Amex colors they know what it is. No need to be tacky. And if they don’t know what they are immediately the name on them wouldn’t have suddenly made them realize.
Card with this type of annual feeds shouldn’t be boring like any other card
Hey Daniel, do you do consulatations by any chance? I've been building credit little by little, but I feel like my score has become stagnant after a while. I am wondering what I can do to get closer to that 850 number.
Hey Sheck! I actually do not do consultations at the moment, I'm just focusing on building this channel and creating content. But I think that's a great idea for a video! Really anything in the high 700s is more than enough and 850 is more of a very long term cool number to see. I'll add that to my list of videos to make - "What to do when credit score increases stall" or something like that
Nice vid I was just wondering what wallet do you use
This was the MOST honest review of the AMEX plt card.
Informative video. Thank you. I used travel a lot before. Now I’ll travel maybe once a year if at all. I work a few blocks away from my house and they provide lunch. I can’t off-set the yearly membership fee. So, Im opting for other credit card options.
Thanks for watching Ryan! Yeah it sounds like in your case that's a good decision. No need to pay that high of annual fee if it won't be used!
I JUST GOT APPROVED 🔥🔥🔥
Excellent video, I have had the the Platinum card for one year and I was on the fence if I was keeping it.
Thanks so much! Hope the video was helpful from hearing my experience and opinion on the card being worth it for me!
Just curious, at 10:35 how did you use the credit to upgrade your seats? I might try to use mine for that
So I just purchased the seats in regular economy first and then before my flight, I just went into the united airlines app and chose an upgraded seat in economy plus and paid with my platinum card. Then a few days later it was reimbursed. This only works for economy to economy plus upgrades on united in this case, not first class or business class
@@Daniel_Braun thanks! hmm, my preferred is Delta, I wonder if something similar would happen with them. How did you know that would be covered as an incidental btw? Most review of the AMEX Plat just complain the incidental is for checked bags or drinks
I looked around Reddit and people were saying it worked so I would check there because it varies from airline to airline with what will trigger the credit
I got the 125k and 15x on restaurants and small business for 6months. Ended up with 385k MR, so my trips are basically free for the next year!
That's so awesome! A ton of points that will definitely get you some great travel covered with that!
Wow I’m from Philly too…I knew it was a reason I watch you 😂😂
Haha love to hear that - Philly is the best! I feel like I say certain words with a slight "Philly accent" so maybe you could tell 😂
I had this card for a few years when the fee was $450 it was maybe worth it.
But amex perks are very difficult to use now, feels like you have to go out of your way to spend them.
Centurion Lounge and Global Entry was the best perk, Delta sky club is good but I'm not going out of my way just to fly delta.
I'll be using my Platinum for lounge access for the first time this month. Are you using yours for your upcoming Puerto Rico trip?
I just got it on a whim yesterday as I saw they increased points to 150k. Came here to confirm I made the right decision. Thanks for the video.
I agree, Daniel - this card isn’t for everyone. But, if you’re willing to deal with the coupon book-like nature of it, it can still add positive value, which it does for me. I don’t build up many MR points with it through daily spend, though. My gold card serves that purpose. Thanks for the look back! Have a good weekend.
How did you use the airline incidental to get a seat with more leg room?
Definitely curious to hear what kind of retention offer you get! Great summary of all the perks and benefits the card offers!
You can also add a family member or a partner for only $150 a year and have them enjoy all the benefits. Clear, lounges etc. This is my fav card. great honest vid!
Thanks so much for watching, glad you liked it! And yeah I actually recently added my fiancé as an authorized user on my Platinum card so that she can have continued access to the lounges when we travel together
It worth it for me in Australia as it’s AU $1450 so back to gold.
Did like some of the perks and they offered 50,000 points to stay on but not spending enough to make up the difference or travelling in Covid days.
Very good point about timing ur trips around the Centurion lounge open hours. The lounge access is only good if you can actually go inside. But damn getting ~$200 of extra value from having the Platinum card is what I like to see. 👀
I got a retention bonus after calling in after I heard what you said!
thanks for the video, off topic but for American express card, can we get bonus again after 7 years? i know the term is life time but there are several post online mention after 7 years you can reapply and get bonus, have you experience with Amex bonus after 7 year ? thanks
So I've heard that after long enough that the lifetime bonus rule may not apply anymore - but I think it's a case by case thing so I don't know. I haven't had my Amex cards long enough yet to try something like that so I can't confirm and I just assume that the rule still applys
Who do your design on the card or did you do it
I basically suffer from the exact same issues with the Amex Platinum card. I quickly found that I never use it to buy anything.
I'm Active Duty in the Army, I agree that the lounge hours and constrictions are kinda sucky. I've traveled on leave or for work and I also book my flights very early. Even then, I had a layover in the middle of the day one airport but the Centurion was closed.
Yeah lounges sound great on paper, but in the real world they are going to have limitations, especially over the past couple of years. I want to take advantage of them more hopefully soon if they are open when I'm traveling!
And thank you for your service!
I believe active duty military can get the card for free.
@@zork999 correct we do :)
@Sergio Avalos aye man I got it for free it’s helps out traveling. All I had to do was use a set of old orders 😂
Random question! Your shirt is exactly what I’ve been looking for. May I asked where you purchased it from or it’s brand??
Haha, its actually a completely random purchase from Marshall's so I don't even know the brand! But I like the shirt so I wish I could find more as well lol
It just seems like a temporary upgrade for me. I use my card for restaurants more than anything. But I do see that additional gold cards are at no fee, does this mean I could still use a gold card for restaurants and platinum for everything else?
The free "Gold" cards are not really Gold cards as they don't have any of the normal Gold multipliers.
I've had this card for about 5 years now.. I luckily have the membership fee waived so I didn't even know that increased until recently.. My biggest complaint is all the changes they have kept doing recently.. The centurion lounge one is definitely annoying, basically they are forcing you to spend 65k on that card a year to keep the free guest access or spend the $50 every time.. The free guests was one of the reason I kept the card for so long tbh... was nice during travels to bring someone and relax in the lounge with pretty good food.. Also definitely after the promo's end earning points is extremely slow which reduces the value for sure.. The free audible is pretty nice (i recently canceled mine though since i haven't used it in a while) and i believe Hulu is in there as well which is cool.. At this point i really only use the card as my backup incase my bank doesn't like me traveling on my regular card, or i'm overseas, or to book flights since u still get the 10x.
how in the world did you get the fee waived lol? Do you work for them or something?
@@Sarah-cy5gd Bankrate mentioned that “You can get the annual fee waived on The Platinum Card® from American Express exclusively for Morgan Stanley* if you have an eligible Morgan Stanley investment account and one of Morgan Stanley’s Platinum CashPlus accounts”
so its possible with $30k sitting in Morgan Stanley accounts
Ridiculous guest lounge changes..
That's a lot to manage! You're right about that.
Haha it definitely is! I've gotten used to it but its a lot
I got mine last year when they first bumped the annual fee to $695. Instead of 10x at the groceries and gas, I got 10x at dine in for the first 6 months. As my promotional period just ended last month, I’ve racked up over 240k point in the 6 months period (including the 100k welcome bonus) from couple trips and the dine in. I spend prob close to $1500/$2000 a month on eating out. Now that the promotional period has ended, time to take my gold card out again for everyday use lol.
Great minds think alike
You eat out a lot.
hey there! you mentioned a promotional period that had 10x points back for dining or groceries + gas, I don't see anything about this on amex's website. only the 5x and that''s for travel. I just got a new member with a gold card, so hopefully that will start racking up my membership points. thanks! please respond if you got an answer.
@@howarddamico1237 this same channel has a fire video showing how you can get up to 2.7 cents per point which comes out to be $2.70 per 100 points💯💎
Sounds like you're wasting a lot of money eating out. Just invest that kinda money and you'll end up far better off.
I have the Mehretu card too (couldn't resist it). I've met her several times, and she's SUPER cool.
Very cool! I'm not a big art person so I had never heard of her before the Amex design but I think the design has really grown on me as something different!
i have a query, American Express seems problematic with adding view only users to the account, do you have an idea how to do that?
Some more tricks. You can get the Amex gold card with 4X points on select categories and then have those points roll up into your Platinum card. If you combine this with business purchases you can rack up points quickly. We utilize the 4X points for "Computer" purchases for IT services. About 4M points per year going to our platinum card. :) If you hit there purchasing limit, get more gold accounts (not just additional cards) and rotate out the cards as they hit their 4X limit.
If I have the Amex Delta Skymiles and upgrade to the platinum I wont the promotion points?
The added cost to bring guest with you into the lounge is what killed this card for me. And now they are only offering 100k points after 6K in spend, as opposed to 120/150k points after 5k in spend. Plus the several hundred dollar annual fee increase. We are now spending way more to get way less.
Amex platinum was worth it 2 yrs ago when you could get on vip guest list to nightclubs and have the concierge to make appointments for different things when one didnt have time to do it. Now they removed the mightclubs list, the lounges are overcrowded and in EU u dont get any discounts on uber either and no other perks. Its basically a scam for 600€ / year.
I went ahead and got the American Express Platinum card even though I pretty much knew that I would not meet the $6000 minimum spend. I really wanted the card for the prestige and perks. I figured why spend $6000 to get points for maybe 2 roundtrip airline tickets when I can just buy 2 roundtrip airline tickets for around $600. I view the $695 annual fee as club membership fees and the statuses that it provides. I also added my son and daughters as authorized users. They are college students with Amex platinum cards and when they fly home they get to enjoy the travel perks and statuses. To me that alone was worth the $695 annual fee. Great video.
Yeah most everyday people have a credit one or capital one credit card. I'm one of them but I've greatly improved my credit with them. So pulling out a Platinum card definitely gets folks attention
I have Delta Platinum and its credit limit is really good. If I apply for Amex Platinum, how does limit gets affected? Does it going to share to total limit similar to additional card holder? Or since it would be a totally new card with low credit limit?
This card really is only good is you travel a lot in my opinion. The $695 fee is ridiculous unless you use ALL of those benefits, and a good chunk of those benefits are travel related.
In the video you mentioned to value the Walmart credit at $98 not the $150+. If you paid the $98, you won't get the credit. Since you have to pay monthly to get the credit, wouldn't you value it at the monthly rated? Or have people gotten the credit for paying the annual fee up front?
Hi, quick question just wondering if i apply for the platinum in August, does that mean I pay the annual fee now? Does that also mean my renewal date with be August 2023 or do I have to pay the annual fee again on January 2023?
It's usually the year starting when you apply..so aug to aug...not the calendar year. At least for the gold card it is
Philly airport has the Amex Lounge, so it was a good pick. Also got 5x for dinning and car gas the first year.
Yeah I'm looking forward to seeing the lounge at Philly! Great to hear you got some good additional bonus points earning rates too!
The Philly Centurion Lounge has limited hours and is over in Terminal A, so it depends on who you fly on unless you are willing to walk a lot.
This was really well good. Good job kid.
Thanks so much Charles!
i like your detailed review. i just got this card on 22 Feb. excited about it. My buddy said he treats his like a debit card. make purchases and pay in full. I am torn between the Gold and preferred blue card now!
What's your opinion now on the cards?
@@ForeverGodsGirl03 I just crossed the path for welcome bonus. So that cool
Haven't had a chance to use any travel stuff as of yet but it is a nice card to have and I don't mind paying the high annual fee.
No way for me, the occasional traveler. My 2 card set up of the Chase Sapphire Preferred and Chase Ritz Carlton, total fees $5=5, is giving me outsized value inho.
3x dining, gas, online food delivery, online groceries. 5x uber/lyft and travel. 2x catch all (Amazon, etc).
It's currently my dream set up and the points should only improve, as long as Ritz stays in the game.
You said you upgraded seats in United Airlines and got the airline credit. I upgraded my seat from economy plus to Business Class using the AMEX platinum card, but they refused to pay me back saying seat upgrades are not qualified.
Thanks bubba, I have the new design and dig it, wifey kept the original , both look great.
Wow! And I thought the CSR was hard to justify. I will never buy and sell shoes to make up for an annual fee. The juice ain’t worth the squeeze. I appreciate your videos and offering you situation.
Haha thanks for watching and commenting Michael! Yeah I forgot to mention I’ve been buying and reselling sneakers here and there for a while. It’s an easy process but not worth the effort for some people but that’s ok!
Ok. I didn’t know resold sneakers regardless of the credit card. That makes more sense. 👍
When you say you might just close the Platinum card the 2nd year after using the bonus points, doesn't closing the card hurt your credit score?
That’s what I was thinking. The only way it might not hurt his score is because Amex doesn’t do credit limits. Assuming he has a no preset spending limit, his credit won’t be affected by closing it because no credit limit is actually reported. Sorry if that’s confusing but thats my guess!
I think with it being so new it might help to close it since the average length of credit will go up removing a 1 year old card from the equation with his older ones.

How soon do you see the credit after the purchase? is it within the 30-day billing cycle?
Yeah usually its just within a few days!
