The Amex Platinum might be the best travel credit card if you’re someone that travels a lot, so there’s lots of American Express Platinum card benefits that could make this one of the credit cards that you’ll want in your wallet on the road.
This is an Amex Platinum Card review of all the features and benefits so that you can answer the question, “Is the Amex Platinum card worth it?” so we’ll go over things like the $200 Uber credit, the $200 Airline credit, airport lounge access, and much more including the recent Amex Platinum changes. I’ve been using the Amex Platinum card for over 2 and a half years now, and even though it costs $695 per year, I still think it has been very much worth it for the value that it provides me as a frequent traveler.

The SAKS credit is pretty nice. Perfect for Office Christmas Party Exchange- something on sale or discontinued like blender, shakers or something cute that wraps and presents well for holiday parties.
I cashed out 467,000 AMEX and Chase combined points and bought a bunch of tesla stock when it under $200 bucks 😅
And u get value of around less than $3.5k usd to make like 10-15% ROI in many months when using points to travel can easily give you 3-10x more value, means 300-1k % ROI 😂😂😂

The Amex Platinum changes recently made me a lot less excited about this card than I was previously, but there's no denying it's an awesome card for a lot of people. It's definitely a card that folks need to do the math on BEFORE applying for it though, because if you're unaware of how to optimize it, you could be wasting a bunch of money holding this card. Great tips all around Daniel!!

I have 3 AMEX cards. Gold, Platinum and Blue Everyday. Travel extensively worldwide for my career but retiring next year. AMEX Member 30+years. Will only keep the Gold (my 1st Amex card) and ditch the other two. Sure don’t need 3 now. And certainly won't keep the Plat because I get no value like airport lounge access because I fly Business Class anyway.
My sign up bonus was 150,000 points which I received in the mail. As far as I can tell that’s the highest one they offer.

The equinox benefit is actually a pay in full benefit. I got $300 off the first $300 I spent at equinox (not $25 a month as mentioned in the video)!

I have a mexican issued amex platinum card. annual fee is 1300 usd + tax and yes, the annual fee is in usd, so the actual cost in mexican pesos varies with exchange rate.

Losing Audible really sucks. And the annual user fees are terrible too. And I’ve also heard that the annual fee is going up next year. Not worth it anymore. Especially since- I find myself in the Delta lounge far more than the Centurion. You can only get into the Centurion at my home airport (Los Angeles) if you’re flying internationally. So it’s all a no for me, sadly.

IMO if ur looking for a retention offer after year 1 or every year you probably shouldn’t have the card. And Amex tracks your retention offers. I can’t imagine that’s gonna help you in the future dealing with Amex.

I got a targeted upgrade offer from a gold business card to platinum and it’s 150,000 points if you spend 10K in first 3 months. But I already have the platinum personal. Is it worth upgrading
If you got the upgrade offer for the Business Platinum, then yes, it’s worth upgrading. The bonus is typically between 120k and 170k after spending $15k in 3 months. To get a similar offer with a lower spend requirement is a win!
I have a question about the gold card. If you add 3/4 family members for them to have their own gold card, yes it's free without an additional charge but do they get their own priority pass too? Or is it only one per account holder? Or two per account holder? Also if it is 2 per account holder, is it four passes to lounge each or just 4 in total
The priority pass does not come with the gold card. It comes with the platinum AMEX card.
@@viktoriousextensions394 it comes with gold but you can only have four passes per year instead of unlimited and then you pay £20/25 per lounge entrance after you've used all four

Priority Pass just isn't as it had been, a few years ago. Yup, the staff are nice, but the food is meh, and beverage service doesn't have the premium choices that if used to have.

Charles Schwab Amex Plat has Annual Investor credit to offset annual fee for people who have a substantial amount of money invested with CS.
I’m tryna sign up and get the 150K welcome bonus offer ($1500) and keep it for a year then close the card. What do you say? Is this a smart idea?
I didnt' know you get a discount at Walmart gas stations, which I didn't even know existed since I've never seen one. I wonder if Sam's Club gas station counts as a Walmart gas station.
You can buy gas at a Sam’s Club station with Walmart+ w/o having a Sam’s membership but not the other way around. My parents have both and the Walmart+ gas price is cheaper than Sam’s, at least around their place.
I think they also have a deal with ExxonMobil? At least for a time
During the pandemic, we did a lot of road trips. Discovered many Walmarts along highways - easily noticed the HUGE Walmart sign 😅. Additionally, the gas was lower priced, especially compared to other gas stations near highways.

Platinum is a crappy card, I have the gold and was asked if I wanted to upgrade after a year to Platinum. I thought to myself this is not an upgrade, it's a downgrade from the gold.
If you travel regularly for you job or travel is your job, the Platinum Card could be useful. The seven hundred($695) dollar annual fee is high, and there are no benefits that are applicable to a normal lifestyle.

Amex Pop-up Jail. It means you can get the card but not the bonus. This has hindered many who seek credit card bonuses from Amex.

I personally think this card is pretty weak in category that’s why I haven’t pulled the trigger and they have sent me a few decent offers.
Yeah I generally agree. I got a 150k bonus, which was the only reason I jumped on it. The annual fee is hard to keep up with since I don't Uber, don't go to the gym, don't really need another Hulu or Disney Plus account, don't use Walmart plus, don't need another global entry/tsa credit, don't care to stay at expensive hotels, and don't need another Hilton honors or priority pass membership. Finally my kids are too rowdy for me to feel comfortable in an overcrowded Centurion Lounge.

This card is overrated to me. I will end up having it for a year then cancelling because the coupons are unnecessary. The only perks I value are the $200 FHR and $189 Clear credits. The other credits are not valuable to me because they force me to go out of my way to use them.
many cards give Clear credit..and with cheaper annual fees! same with priority pass access...and also, can often be cheaper booking directly with the properties listed on FHR/THC.

It’s a money waste where Amex charge you $700 AF to force you to use the services when it is not needed. It’s a trap.
Not a card for everyone, it only makes sense if the credits cover things that some is already going to spend money on anyway. It fits very well into my spending habits which is why I have it, but definitely not going to work for a large number of people
